Jeff Bridges shares a new photo: ‘It feels good, getting all the well wishes & love’

About a week and a half ago we got the tough news that Jeff Bridges, 70, has lymphoma and is undergoing treatment. It was a hard story to hear about such a beloved actor. We never gossip about Jeff Bridges because all the stories about him are positive. He’s been married for 41 years, he’s just an all-around decent, standup guy and you don’t hear a bad word about him. Jeff recently released the photo above showing his treatment along with a beautifully handwritten note on his website. (He also has a new children’s book with his daughter, Daddy Daughter Day, that features his handwritten cursive.) He wrote that he’s staying positive and is grateful for all the well wishes. People had this writeup:

“This cancer thing is bringing on feelings of preciousness, and gratitude, and good old fashion love, and lots of it, big time. I’m feeling so much of it comin’ my way, and man, I appreciate it. It’s contagious, all this love, like some kind of positive virus.”

“I want to acknowledge and thank you guys for reaching out during this time,” Bridges added to fans. “It feels good, getting all the well wishes and love.”

The Big Lebowski star continued to say that “this cancer is making me appreciate my mortality, appreciate impermanence.”

“I’m realizing if I have s— to share, now’s the time,” he wrote before sharing some doodles and thought bubbles that featured links…

“I’m lookin’ to be in a partnership with you guys in creating a beautiful life and world for all of us.”

The three bubbles on Jeff’s site which People mentions link out to a climate change film Jeff narrated and produced called Living in the Future’s past, a video for the eco-friendly guitars he’s promoting, and a song Jeff recorded with his band The Abiders called “My Welcome Mat.” The song is a simple tribute to diversity and friendship and I found it kind of touching. They’re encouraging people to vote too.

I was so happy to see Jeff’s picture because it reminded me of one my dear Aunt Ruth shared during her cancer treatment. I never delete my email and just re-read her message from six years ago. She was wearing a beautiful blue dress she got in Hawaii with sequin flowers on it and she had on a turban with a big flower and earrings she got in Hawaii. She wrote “This is what I wore for my chemo today” and shared a story of her grandchildren coming to visit her during her treatment. She got the idea for that beautiful outfit from my cousin, Lindsey, who came in to visit Ruth at chemo while wearing the prom dress she had just picked out.

That’s just to say that Jeff reminds me of family a little. We’ve known him through his work for so long. We’re rooting for him and are glad to hear he’s doing well.

My uncle just finished his primary treatment for lymphoma and is in his maintenance treatment now. He’s 75. Hoping Jeff’s goes as well as my uncle’s has.

Jeff Bridges is an icon and an American treasure, on top of being an all-around descent, cool, humble, and generous human being. I wish nothing but the best for him & his family.

So good to see him looking good, and more importantly, *feeling* ok. Blood cancers are a bitch. My biggest fear, when I was diagnosed with ALL, Philadelphia+ was that it’s in the BLOOD, which goes EVERYWHERE in the body/brain; it’s not like a tumor you can cut out and “be done with” so to speak. The fear stays for a long time after treatment. I am *beyond* grateful to be 6 yrs cancer free.

I hope Jeff has as good an outcome as I have been fortunate to have, and that he has a (relatively) easy time with his treatments. He has always seemed like *such* a standup, decent man. Wishing only the best for him and his family as they cope. 🙏🏻❤️
