When I saw that live, I just thought to myself, WHAT A MORON.

I know this is a daily thought – but he literally leads the most powerful country in the world, and is a full stop moron.

    • olliesmom says:

I saw it live too and I thought Cheesus, that is the President of the United States and supposedly a Wharton grad.

      • Hoot says:

Hasn’t he bragged about how he barely cracked a book and never did homework? I was reading a book recently where this was mentioned. He had some “good friends” help him. 😳 It’s why when he sounds like a moron, it’s actually true.

    • Golly Gee says:

And one more time because it’s the gift that never stops giving– remember the King of Morons tweet about the “Prince of Whales”? BAHAHAHA!

I am actually contemplating stress-baking cookies today. Because then I can stress-eat cookies. Right after I finish this pasta.

    • Lady D says:

About 10 days ago I found a cranberry and apple cake recipe from Ina Garten. It’s simple, easy to throw together and OMG is this little cake delicious. I can’t believe how good it tastes. I’ve made it 3 times in the past week or so. (gave one away) I seriously can’t recommend it enough. Today I’m making oatmeal sandwich cookies with cinnamon buttercream. I’ve decided I’m taking this week off my healthy eating lifestyle. I’m sure I’ll survive one week.

      • nb says:

Recipe?? Sounds delicious and I have apples to use up!

      • Lady D says:

Google Food Network, Ina Garten’s Easy Cranberry and Apple Cake. I doubled the apple. I really hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
(I didn’t have orange so I used concentrated juice instead.)

    • Jaded says:

I’m burning right past the stress carbs and heading straight for the wine bottle, and I have a bottle of champers chilling in the fridge for the big celebration.

      • lemonylips says:

me too! champers is waiting and i don’t even care about drinking it i just wanna celebrate when biden wins!

      • TaraBest says:

I have a special “Pride” bottle of bubbly in a sparkly rainbow wrapper waiting in my fridge. Can’t wait to break it open and celebrate!

Is it too late for me to trick or treat at your house?

” Is it too late for me to trick or treat at your house?” -love the comment and the sense of humour…

    • Lolamd says:

Just fished out 10 butterfingers from son’s halloween stash. Stress eating.

    • Nana says:

Just stressed baked banana bread (Moosewood cookbook recipe, or my wholemeal, low sugar + lots of added dutch cocoa version of it!) 🙂
Atleast are looking slightly up for all you CBs in the US – we are all sending you lots of healing, calming light…. hang in there.

  3. lemonylips says:

My friend in USA (who is not even eligible to vote) just got an email from Trump administration titled “Just like I predicted” and then caps lock: “democrats will try to steal this election” continuing with we need your help. She was disguisted. Just so you know guys, don’t get schocked if you get it.

    • tealily says:

They constantly send out emails like that. Like, multiple emails daily with crazy screaming all caps in random places.

  4. Sunnydaze says:

My “Wish list” if Biden wins: get rid of electoral college, end lifetime appointments of supreme court judges (or at least put in some flipping standards), tax returns MUST be released by all who serve, POTUS must have independent psychiatric evaluation, end gerrymandering and no political ads may air with outright false information. Too much of our country has relied on the honor system and now we have learned what happens when you elect someone with no honor. Make some clear cut rules and effing stick to them. Also TERM LIMITS. if Biden wins, he’s got a ton of shit to start cleaning up – we can’t take for granted trump (in his essence) won’t happen again!

    • Sigmund says:

Unfortunately, it’s going to be hard if Dems don’t flip the senate (and it looks like we won’t). But we shouldn’t be discouraged. Getting Trump out is a step in the right direction.

      • Lady D says:

Isn’t that the point where those infamous Executive Orders come in and change the situation?

      • Sunnydaze says:

Ugh I know….and the worst part is all these tactics keep them in power. I’ll settle for just one thing, just one – literally any one, one little executive order *quietly sobs*. I’m so terrified Trumpism is here to stay and too many people are relying on “norms” to preserve our democracy. How do we make sure this never happens again?!

      • Sigmund says:

@LadyD @Sunnydaze Executive Orders can be rescinded by the next president. We (meaning democrats) need to find ways to implement lasting change that can’t be undone the moment a Republican steps into office.

Believe me, I’m right there with you. There’s so many things I want to see, including expanding the court. I just also hate this see-saw we seem to be on thanks to the Republicans. Permanent changes would be easier if the Dems controlled both the House and Senate. It’s not impossible otherwise, though.

Edit: I forgot that if we get an even split, Kamala will be the tie breaker. So that’s worth hoping for too.

      • E.D. says:

        Exactly right Sigmund.

It will be pretty much impossible to get any real effective change with the Republicans in charge of the Senate.

It’s pretty much a nightmare scenario for the Dems, but at least the world will have hope, decency and a true leader at the helm again when J.B gets in.

I’m sitting here in Canada, with fingers crossed for my American family and friends.
I’ve been watching the polls all evening and morning, and am hopeful for a blue win today.

Stay strong my fellow CB’ers. You’re looking good from my view, and things will get better! Much love to you all today.

    • Guest with Cat says:

I can’t speak for everyone, but I know every time I read comments like yours, where someone outside of our dumpster fire of a country sends their sympathy and support, it means a lot to me.

In just a few short years I’ve watched racism and misogyny become not just openly practiced again, but celebrated, and I can’t believe it is 2020 and not 1920. I knew racism wasn’t gone, only gone underground, but I had no idea until this administration how prevalent it still is. I mean how ingrained it is in people I thought were well… nice. Fair. Good. I thought we had come much further than we actually had and that people were much better than they actually were.

I feel so stupid and naive. But my mother is an immigrant and I grew up seeing this country the way she did, a chance at a fresh start, a land of opportunity. I suppose it still is, but we’ve got people who want to slam the doors shut on that opportunity and they’ve been very loud the last few years.

It’s extremely discouraging to realize I have made it past the half century mark and yet the same old battles that raged and tore the nation apart when I was a baby still need to be fought.

I hope we who believe in “stronger together” can take back this country and get it back on track and make our allies happy for us and proud to be our friends again. I am so embarrassed and sorry not enough of us voted last time and as a result subjected the world to Trump and everything he represents.

I hope those people learned and got up and made their voices heard this time where it counts, in our ballots. Drain that swamp properly this time!

Thank you for the sympathy and the support. I hope all the other people in other countries ruled by Trump clones free themselves soon, too.

Good luck, those of you who are Democrats! We like-minded Canadians have our fingers crossed for Biden!

  8. notasugarhere says:

Drumpf if going direct to HIS supreme court to challenge Pennsylvania ballots.

‘The Trump campaign is going to the Supreme Court, asking it to intervene in a pending case challenging a Pennsylvania Supreme Court decision that allowed ballots to be counted after Election Day.

The justices refused to expedite the appeal before the election, but they are still considering whether to take up the case.

“The time has come. Given last night’s results, the vote in Pennsylvania may well determine the next President of the United States,” Jay Sekulow, a lawyer for the President, said in the new filing.

“And this Court, not the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, should have the final say on the relevant and dispositive legal questions,” he said.

Some context: The President is laying the groundwork to challenge the election results in Pennsylvania at the United States Supreme Court.

His attorneys filed a petition with the Supreme Court to insert the President personally as a party to the lawsuit that is currently pending.

The case involves a challenge to Pennsylvania’s mail-in ballot deadline extension — the Pennsylvania Supreme Court is allowing for mail-in ballots to be accepted through Friday at 5 p.m. ET, including ballots without a legible postmark.

The Supreme Court deadlocked 4-4 in October, allowing the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruling to stand, and did not grant an expedited review of the case in the days before the election. However, the Supreme Court is still deciding whether to take up the underlying case.’

And they’ve filed a lawsuit in Michigan. This is nowhere near over yet.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

I’ve been reading that if Biden flips Arizona and Nevada, and he is on track to, then he wins the Presidency – if he pulls that off then he doesn’t need Pennsylvania.

I agree this isn’t over – he is going to challenge and sue in states that he feels he should have won.

      • Nana says:

It’s amazing how he’s calling to stop the vote in areas where the race is close, but he’s losing, bc vote fraud, but somehow magically, but in areas that are close where he’s winning, bc no vote fraud 😐

  9. Digital Unicorn says:

I can’t believe I’m reading about MAGATs trying to storm the counting locations – he inciting fraud and civil unrest, how can he get away with that (yeah I know everyone around him is letting him burn down civilised society).

I can’t believe they are sooo stupid they actually believe his lies – counting the votes hasn’t finished and this is how the US voting system works and has done for many many many years. I guess they now don’t like it as their candidate didn’t win and they are all crying into their milk.

  10. fluffy_bunny says:

One of the demon spawn is on tv talking about how they did tons of illegal stuff in Philly. Allegedly Biden had huge signs hung in the polling places saying to vote for them. Please show proof. If you don’t I’m sending Gritty and the Phanatic to the White House to fuck you up.

  11. Zen says:

I don’t know where to put this. Is the Open Post still available? BIDEN HAS 264 ELECTORAL COLLEGE VOTES. JUST NEEDS THE 6 FROM NEVADA AND HE IS THE PREZ. Sorry for shouting but if anything needed caps it was that!. The long nightmare is almost over.

  12. Zen says:

Meanwhile the biggest crisis in Canada is the recall of Miss Vicki potato chips. Damn those are some good chips.

  13. Notafan says:

A friend of mine just texted me and said she’s driving to Nevada to help cure ballots (call people with signature problems in their ballot and have them sign again) because they expect a recount in Nevada.

I think Joe Biden won but we aren’t over yet.

  14. msd says:

I’m feeling stressed on the other side of the world. Hang in there American friends.

  15. Golly Gee says:

I had to look at cute/funny cat pictures for an hour yesterday just to counter the despair I was feeling. I don’t even live in the US! I had to force myself to check and see what the results were just now. Dear god.
Hoping US CBers ( and all Americans who believe in democracy and caring for people ) will soon have some relief!
