Wow, things really look great for Joe Biden in Pennsylvania, huh?

Former Vice President Joe Biden has a Drive thru rally at the Jewish Society Museum in Philadelphia

Pennsylvania looks amazing, omg. Does anyone else think that Joe Biden secretly wants Pennsylvania, the state where he was born, to be the one to put him over 270 in electoral votes? I do. I bet Biden is chilling at his HQ, calling up Nevada and Arizona and telling him to hold on, he wants Pennsylvania to be the one to push him over. Anyway, some-odd 500,000 votes were counted in Pennsylvania overnight and Trump’s lead is growing narrower and narrower. There are still about 600K votes left to be counted, and as we discussed yesterday, the remaining ballots to be counted are almost all absentee ballots from Democratic strong-holds which voted for Hillary Clinton by wide margins. Guess what? Biden’s margins are EVEN BIGGER.

Penn’s secretary of state says that they could conceivably be done counting ballots by this evening. So now it’s a race to see who will complete their counts first, between Georgia, Pennsylvania, Nevada and Arizona. Party time!

Penn’s senator Bob Casey Jr. has been making video explainers about the vote in his state and honestly, they’re very helpful (and delightfully nerdy too).

Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s people are briefing friendly outlets and saying that Trump has every confidence that he’s going to win Pennsylvania. I mean… Pennsylvania is the ball game. If Pennsylvania gets called before Arizona and Nevada, then it’s over for baby fists.

Protesters were ready in Philly:

I got very emotional reading this post. I didn’t realize Biden even had a chance in Pennsylvania as I didn’t realize how many votes still needed to be counted. I actually felt tears. I so long for a return to decency and humanity, which has been sorely lacking for four years. Yes, it’s disheartening to realize how many millions voted for the other side, exposing their not-so-secret racist and selfish hearts. But Biden winning would be a first step to putting us back on the right track in this country as well as in the eyes of the rest of the world.

the lack of updates is killing me!!!!

This election has brought me through SO MANY emotions, and I’m not even American.

To every single Black and Indigenous person, and to all People of Color, I’m so sorry and can only imagine how it must feel to watch what SHOULD have been a landslide rejection of hatred and racism end up being such a close race. It is devastating, and must be more so for you.

To every woman out there (except the women who voted for Trump because honestly you deserve whatever you get if you voted for that monster) who may lose access to abortion and basic health care even under a Biden presidency, I’m sorry for how hard this must be and I will be hoping against hope that something can be done to prevent the overturn of RvW.

To every LGBTQIA+ person out there who has watched a ridiculously large part of the population vote against your rights and freedoms, I’m so sorry. I don’t know what else to say.

I am desperately hoping for Biden to win. 2020 has been a rough year for me and this would be the one tiny bright spot. But I was hoping for an overwhelming and obvious win, not this lukewarm repudiation of the orange fascist… instead it is so absolutely clear that the next four years will be equally exhausting because all those people voting for hate aren’t suddenly going to up and disappear just because that turd is out of office. And this is from someone who doesn’t even LIVE down there, but has the misfortune to live in Alberta (The Texas of Canada) and seeing how many people here support Trump is just constantly depressing.

Good luck guys. (Again, except anyone who voted for Trump. Happy Thursday, Happy Birthday, Best Wishes, Warmest Regards, to everyone EXCEPT Trump voters. Trump voters are and will forevermore be dead to me.)

@Megan2 This is beautiful. Thank you.

Thank you for this post. I am a brown skinned woman who lives in an almost all white area and seeing the results of this election has been so disheartening, not just not on a national level, but also local. Our county and statewide races were swept by Republicans and Trump gained shares of white women and black men! Where are our allies?

This will be true regardless of whether Biden ends up winning. It should not have been this close!

If Biden wins Pennsylvania, Georgia and North Carolina, he’ll mostly have the descendants of former slaves who helped to build this country to thank.

    • Veronica S. says:

Yes, he will. If it goes blue, Pennsylvania is literally going to be won on the back of Philadelphia, and Philadelphia is one of the few cities in America that is majority black and ethnic. We are a very white state otherwise, and they are up against a very bluntly racist rural spread, unfortunately.

    • Becks1 says:

He will, which tells you exactly why the republican party has been so actively trying to suppress those votes for decades now.

    • deering24 says:

Midnight–Detroit African-Americans enabled Biden to win Michigan, so, yep. Is this a great country or what? 😠😠😈

  5. Veronica S. says:

I’m not hedging my bets because the rural output for Trump was insane. If my state went blue again, though, I’d probably cry. It’s honestly very unsettling for a lot of us here thinking what going red again might mean for 2022 where both a Senate seat and a gubernatorial election are up for grabs. It’s looking like Democrats are losing yet another seat on the state legislature as it is, so I’m sure they’ll try gerrymandering yet again now that they have a conservative SC to help them.

Although, I want to point out that f*cking Nevada has less than a quarter of our population here in Pennsylvania, and they fact they’re taking as long as we are to count is making me slowly go insane. 😂

    • Lady D says:

Last night Nevada promised results at 9:00am. I’m holding them to it. As a matter of fact I’ve done almost nothing this morning waiting for 9 o’clock and the right results so I can get on with my day.

    • Anna says:

Same. I’m so confused as to why it’s taking Nevada so long. And if a state takes too long, doesn’t that mean that getting to 270 is based on whichever state can count votes the fastest? I mean, if a state that would have won for Biden doesn’t count fast enough but a state that wins for 45 is faster, then 45 gets to 270 faster? But that seems to invalidate the electoral votes being the final determining factor, more a race to 270 than an actual winner…Not sure if I’m making sense here…

      • Kebbie says:

It’s not about getting to 270 faster. Once somebody hits 270, their opponent can only reach 268. There are only 538 electoral votes in total.

      • Veronica S. says:

Constitutionally, states can actually have weeks to months to turn in election results because the electorate isn’t selected to vote until December. It’s just that for the most part we have enough in place to get it counted and predicted within a week because it’s better to have a clear view of what change is coming earlier on, and past a certain point, the numbers will predict a clear winner. My guess is Nevada probably wasn’t prepared for the number of mail in ballots they received and maybe didn’t have as good a process (or maybe people) in place to count it. Otherwise, I’m at a loss.

I’ve worked my way into a frenzy since Tuesday. I awoke at 2am with a blinding migraine, had to puke. And anyone with migraines knows that puking while suffering a migraine is ridiculously painful. I’ve managed to stabilize it, but damn. I need this to be over lol.

    • ILoveMusic says:

I get migraines as well, and I’ve had one every day since Tuesday. Over the counter meds do nothing – I need my prescriptions. I’m counting heavily on a Biden win, particularly because I need health insurance to continue getting prescriptions for my migraines. If this new supreme court overturns the ACA, I believe Biden will move quickly to get Americans health coverage again. If the unthinkable happens, I guess I will be in pain and unable to function until I’m old enough for Medicare. Come on Pennsylvania!!!!!

      • Mabs A'Mabbin says:

Yeah I’m currently operating (if you can call it that) with no health insurance. I go through OTC meds like a pit in the earth.

  7. Case says:

The last three days have gone on for an eternity. I woke up this morning and literally didn’t know what day it was. This is painful, but I’m also so grateful to those working tirelessly to count every vote!

  8. Becks1 says:

oh come ON Pennsylvania!! You can do it! I want PA to be the one to finish this for so many reasons – the emotional meaning for Biden, reclaiming the Blue Wall and yet another state that flipped to Trump in 2016, and the fact that it WILL finish it. If he wins PA then we don’t need to worry about Arizona or Nevada or Georgia. So I really hope we are able to call PA today.

  9. Bren says:

I assumed the counties on the I-95 corrider between Delaware and the Philly suburbs were always going to be pro Biden.

  10. Leah says:

It’s 9am PST so Nevada should be waking up to give us the results.

    Keeping fingers crossed.

    • Snuffles says:

Apparently, Nevada is still looking for it’s panties after a 2 day Vegas bender.

      • Kebbie says:

Lol I’m trying to be patient but my God, what is taking so long?!

      • Leah says:

It’s amazing how slow they are about counting the ballots when they are so fast at dealing the cards at the gambling tables.

Biden is up at the last count. I just want them to finish, Nevada hasn’t that big of a state, the largest population is Vegas and Reno. One city you get married and gamble your savings away and the other you get divorced and sue your ex to get the savings she or he lost in Vegas….back.

  11. Phillyperson says:

Lifelong PA resident just checking in to say that no one calls PA “Penn,” which is shorthand for the University of Pennsylvania. Keeping fingers crossed that the count continues going in the right direction!

    • Lynn says:

Scranton resident here. I would LOVE for Joe to take Pa, but I’m not counting on it. It would be awesome though.

Western Pa girl here (though I grew up in Center County, which thanks to PSU is one blue spot in the middle of the state!) I want it to be here so badly so I can go outside with a bottle of champagne and sparklers a d dance in front of my Trump loving neighbors.

Pittsburgh girl here. They Just announced Pa will have a final vote count tonight. #nervous#hopeful#nervous

Trump is on TV doing what Trump does. PA come through for us – says your neighbor to the south, MD

  15. Emerald Crystal says:

I still don’t believe that this many people voted for Trump. He’s either got Putin hacking electronic voting machines, or his newly appointed Postmaster General has been pulling some tricks. I know that it sounds crazy, but I feel crazy and I’m just going with it. Damn, Nevada is a lazy bunch of no ballot counting nitwits.
