Heidi Klum was on People Magazine’s show to promote her Disney Villains clothing line. People put a clip of that on their site and I watched it in the full episode too, but they didn’t include the part in where Heidi talked about her oldest daughter, Leni, possibly modeling. I am going on People’s writeup, which made it sound like Heidi was asked if Leni would model and she said that Leni could if she wanted to. It was unclear from the excerpt whether Leni wants to model, although Heidi did say that Leni wants to step in her shoes and that she loves visiting the Top Model set with her. Heidi is now in Germany with her kids (after some back and forth with ex Seal whether they would be allowed to go) filming Germany’s Next Top Model. Here are some excerpts from People’s video and their site:

Probably more than once. I am from Germany and I don’t always tend to wear the most clothes. Sometimes they will give me a nudge and be like ‘mom, really?’
‘Yeah really, this is who I am. I do me, you do you, you know?’“Which one of your kids loves coming to the Top Model set with you most?”
Probably my oldest daughter. She is 16 years old now. She does want to step in mama’s footsteps. She comes and looks and learns, not just what I’m doing but what all the people are doing on a TV set. Who knows, maybe in five years when I’m not hosting the show anymore maybe it’s going to be like Germany’s Next Top Model by Leni Klum instead of Heidi Klum. She’s old enough now. I always thought she was too young. We always also decided to keep the children out of the public eye. But she’s driving a car now, she’s 16, so I figured if you can do that, you can also model now if this is what you wish to do.Obviously, as a mother, [I want my] child to do what she wants to do. The industry is great and I love it and I’ve been in it for over 20 years but it’s also, it’s a lot of traveling, it’s different. You have to be a strong person, especially as a woman you have to be very strong
Her kids are doing remote learning from Germany
They do it late at night until 11 pm at night because they are doing school on LA time still with their class. Kudos to my kids for not slacking. They’re real troopers.
I’m still confused about whether Leni wants to model, but she only has seven posts on her official blue check Instagram and there’s just one faraway shot of her in a really conservative outlet where it looks like she’s getting her picture taken. She’s not going the celebrity kid instamodel route is what I’m saying, and she could easily do that if she wanted. I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt and say that she could be interested in Heidi’s work in general, not just in modeling. Even if she wants to be a model, I feel like she has time to prove herself. She’s not going overboard on Instagram, which is to her credit.
I will say that while my son is under 18 his life decisions are subject to my approval and to his dad’s approval. He’s 16 and I would make him wait until he’s 18 to do work in the public eye like that. Leni’s bio dad is Flavio Briatore. Seal adopted Leni and he likely still has a say in whether she’s modeling or not.

If Kate Moss’s daughter can model, I suppose Leni can get a few “legacy” contracts. She doesn’t look tall enough to make it on her own though.

Hailey Baldwin also isn’t tall enough to model. You have to remember there are different rules for nepotism models. Most young girls/guys have to hussle to even get their foot in the door for an audition. This girl’s mom is like “she can model if she wants to”. Easy as that. If she wants to model, the jobs will pile up for her simply because of who her mom is.

Seal has been her father since birth. He adopted her. Leni’s last name is Samuel. Why did Heidi refer to her daughter as Leni Klum?
It’s how she has her name on her IG.

That line stood out to me, also. I’m American but I never heard that Germans didn’t like wearing clothing. The other line that stood out was ‘the (modeling) industry is great’. Really? Because I’ve always heard it was a nightmare, especially for young girls. To put it kindly, she must not be too smart.
It’s not like Germans don’t wear clothes but I think it was a joke about Germans being less concerned about nudity. For example, in order to switch in and out of a bathing suit in Germany, most people would just strip off and make the switch without the hiding behind a towel dance people in the UK and us regularly do.
Pilot: we in the US don’t even do that. We want changing rooms at beaches, we’re not changing on the beach itself. Or the river. Travel out & back in the swimsuit, wet or not.
I am a German living in the UK. To be fair to her, Germans tend to be less concerned about nudity than people in the US, so it makes sense than her kids are a bit more Conservative about what’s appropriate. It was a tongue in cheek comment and she is not wrong.
Meh, I think she just meant that Europeans are not as prudish as Americans when it comes to the human body. I know everyone loves to think of models as idiots, and she does seem to overshare for sure, but she’s built quite the career, and get the sense that she’s a work horse. She’s not dumb.
My husband is from Germany (came to US as a baby), and was raised with a very lax attitude to nudity. He showered with our daughter until she was 6 and still walks around in his underwear. I don’t mind it and he never tried to police how our daughter dresses which we both appreciate. And we visit spas in Bavaria that have unisex changing rooms and clothing optional policies for the pools. So our kids are used to seeing people of all ages and types nude.

That’s what I was thinking… the official account is just so mom Heidi thinks she knows what’s going on.
Or, I don’t know, Heidi, she might also be old enough to think about finishing secondary school and choosing a college or university? I just can’t with these vapid celebrities and their offspring…

Leni looks nothing like her, all of her children take after the father.
I feel like the entire modeling industry is changing to one where your “look” is secondary to your connections and access. I don’t think it’s necessarily good or bad, just different. Cindy Crawford, Heidi Klum and Kate Moss became models because they have undeniably arresting beauty. Their faces were their money makers. On the flip side, their daughters are not as beautiful. Don’t get me wrong, they’re very pretty young women, but they do not stand out as “great beauties” like their mothers. Their appeal is entirely in their connection to their famous mother and their ability to quickly gain social media following based on this fact. Again, neither good nor bad, just a general change in how modeling is done now.
I think it is similar to any other career in which the generations continue to work in the industry of their parents – teaching, law, agriculture, policing, firefighting. Modelling is just so much more high profile but intergenerational career influences are highly criticized in tv and movie production (except for Tony Goldwyn for some reason), the music industry, modelling, and media much more than in other areas.
As an American living in Europe, I’ve noticed that when I’m visiting European beaches, especially Spanish ones, it’s the German speakers that tend to be the least clothed.
That’s because everyone has nipples.
