Oh good, a Russian company will have access to all of the MAGA terrorists on Parler

Over the weekend, the New Yorker published a video compilation taken by one of their reporters (Luke Mogelson) who was in the Capitol on January 6th during the insurrection. News outlets have been airing clips of the video, probably because if you watch the entire 12 minutes, you will be full of so much rage. And just exhaustion. I’m exhausted with these people and how they’re some of the dumbest traitors out there.

The New Yorker did a transcript of what these a–holes were saying to each other, including that Ted Cruz would approve of what they were doing, and how they should form a new government in their name. In one moment, a Capitol Police officer tries to politely reason with the insurrectionists who have just violently laid siege to the building, because white people amirite.

In addition to that, federal authorities have arrested Riley June Williams, one of the young terrorists who seemed to have a lot of knowledge about where certain offices were within the building. She’s on camera ordering terrorists where to go, and she ended up stealing one of Nancy Pelosi’s laptops (or a laptop belonging to the Office of the Speaker). There are some reports that Williams tried and failed to sell the laptop to Russia. I have no words. Treason. That’s one word. TREASON.

Speaking of Russia…you know how the social media site Parler was taken down following the Jan. 6 insurrection? Apple and Google banned Parler and they were looking to partner with another company to come back. Parler found that company, and the company is Russian.

Parler, a social media website and app popular with the American far right, has partially returned online with the help of a Russian-owned technology company. Parler vanished from the internet when dropped by Amazon Inc’s hosting arm and other partners for poor moderation after its users called for violence and posted videos glorifying the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

On Monday, Parler’s website was reachable again, though only with a message from its chief executive saying he was working to restore functionality. The internet protocol address it used is owned by DDos-Guard, which is controlled by two Russian men and provides services including protection from distributed denial of service attacks, infrastructure expert Ronald Guilmette told Reuters.

DDoS-Guard has worked with other racist, rightist and conspiracy sites that have been used by mass murderers to share messages, including 8kun. It has also supported Russian government sites. DDoS-Guard’s website lists an address in Scotland under the company name Cognitive Cloud LP, but that is owned by two men in Rostov-on-Don, Russia, Guilmette said. One of them told the Guardian recently that he was not aware of all of the content the company facilitates.

So it’s not enough that Nazis want their own social media to organize and incite terrorism, but now Russia (or Russian operatives) will have access to these Trump-radicalized terrorists. Not only that, but Parler is so poorly run that tons of people have already hacked it, AND all of those dumb Nazis had to, like, provide their Social Security numbers and driver’s licenses to sign on, so Russia will have all of that information too. I’m starting to feel a bit panicky.

Well, let’s hope the feds get to the Parler idiots first.

    • whatWHAT? says:

I’ve read that whoever hacked it (multiple people/organizations, from what I’ve heard) has provided all of the info to the feds so they can use the driver’s licenses to match up with the footage taken at the Capitol using facial recognition. (PS – it’s possible…nay, probable…that the feds were able to hack into it, too.)

one of the reasons the site was so hackable was because they were using A TRIAL VERSION of whatever software they used so they didn’t have to pay for it and when the trial version expired, all the security that came with it did, too. seriously, Parler seems to be run by a bunch of IDIOTS.

      • Saucy&Sassy says:

WhatWHAT?, I read quotes from the hackers who stated very firmly that they did not download the driver’s licenses, etc. That’s what they’re stating in public. I think they didn’t want that info out and didn’t want to take a hit on getting that info. Now, if that’s true or not. I don’t know. They could have given info to the feds, and not released it to the public.

      • The Other Katherine says:

I think whatWHAT? is saying that the hacker provided all of the videos pulled from Parler (ones that had been uploaded by users for public posts) to the FBI, and thence the FBI can run facial recognition on people appearing in the videos by comparing them with databases of ID photos from state driver’s licenses. Also, Parler didn’t automatically strip the metadata from photos and videos uploaded to Parler, so those files will have date/time stamps, geolocation data, and information about the device used to take the photo or video, which can potentially be matched to devices recovered via search warrant if they identify the individual who took the image.

      • saucy&sassy says:

Thank you, The Other Katherine, I appreciate the clarification.

  2. Tiffany says:

I knew this was Russian owned/backed a few months ago. There was a story about the creator/owner who has a Russian asset as a girlfriend who took him to Russia to meet her ‘family’ and then came into a influx of money to get this off the ground.

It also explained why certain GOP members were talking in up, promoting it and trying to get people to leave Twitter to sign up for it. And app asked for your SSN and a credit card. So Russia already has everything they really need on these clowns now that Casino is no longer useful.

Amazing how these ‘patriots’ make it so easy for the enemy.

    • Wiglet Watcher says:

Such idiots. And flat out treason.

    • MaryContrary says:

I read that story too! It was bat shit crazy. I know Rebecca Mercer put money in-but it was absolutely Russian sponsored. They absolutely have a hand in our country being at war with itself. Putin must be thrilled with how it’s all turning out.

  3. Beatz says:

These idiots. SMH. I mean, what else can be said besides they need to be in prison for Treason.

    • Mac says:

Williams threw away her future for a conman who wouldn’t cross the street for her. She will have years in prison to contemplate that.

  4. (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

THIS is Putin’s wet dream come to life. Dissension to the point of chaos. The US torn apart.

While I feel we ALL NEED to be informed, I wish the FBI had kept a lot of this under wraps until AFTER Wed. (like the fact a lot of people’s phones pinging give away who they are and where they were in the Capitol). That kind of info would be invaluable if these bastards try anything tomorrow. Now, they’ll just leave the majority of phones in their cars.

I am truly afraid for our country. I know we’ll heal enough to “scab” over, even though it’s going to take a LONG time; but we’ll all know what’s going on under that scab, and just how fragile it is.

    • Snuffles says:

Pretty sure that information is public knowledge. The idiot MAGA pawns will be the ones busted. If there were Russian assets among the crowd, they were probably smart enough to not get tracked.

  5. Rapunzel says:

The morons worried about a tracking chip in the Covid-19 vaccine willing gave all this tracking information to Russia?

Sounds like Trumpster logic to me.

  6. Nev says:

    Terrifying

  7. Ann says:

The Parler idiots hate communism but they are cool with Russia. That sudden flip of being OK with Russia and Putin that happened with the trumpers has bothered me so much this entire time. So many older people who spent their whole lives believing (correctly) that Russia is an enemy are now gleefully giving a known Russian backed website their SSN AND credit card info! It is terrifying how stupid they are.

    • MaryContrary says:

Same with GOP Republicans who were (rightly) concerned about Russia and yet suddenly fall into line. It’s disgusting and terrifying.

  8. bre says:

I did have to laugh when the video from The New Yorker was showing this dudes flipping through documents where Nancy was sitting as though they HONESTLY thought they would just turn the page and all evidence would be there.

  9. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

    But her emails…..

  10. Mireille says:

Anyone who is convicted of sedition and treason against the U.S., should not only have to serve time, but also be stripped of their citizenship and then BOUNCED from this country. Send them over to Siberia, Russia, Atlantis, the middle of Pacific Ocean, don’t care where…just kick them out of the U.S.

  11. Mee yo says:

This is how you take down a democracy from the inside, technology. It won’t be Russian troops marching into the White House, it’ll be our own citizens doing it on behalf of Russia. That’s why they’ve worked so hard to infiltrate us using technology. Obama warned of this in 2014

  12. Elizabeth says:

Their social security numbers?!?!?! How stupid are these people?

  13. Golly Gee says:

For years the CIA has interfered with countries around the world to get rid of governments they don’t like in favor of governments that they can use. Many, many ordinary people in those countries have suffered as a result. What’s happening now is karmic for the US as a nation. At the same time, it’s unfair that the innocent are made to suffer the fruition of this along with the guilty.
