Last week Sharon Osbourne tweeted out support for Piers Morgan. This was after Piers stormed off his show while being mildly questioned about his years of abuse of Meghan Markle. On Wednesday, Sharon was asked about the tweet on her show, The Talk. Sharon was defensive, aggressive and threw expletives at her colleague, Sheryl Underwood. Sharon used textbook white fragility and crocodile tears to get out of taking responsibility. On Friday Sharon issued an apology, using the line “to anyone of color that I offended and/or to anyone that feels confused or let down by what I said” without once acknowledging her Black co-stars. Friday, CBS announced an internal review into Sharon’s behavior, signifying that she may find herself without a job like her buddy Piers. Cue the tears because now Sharon is playing the victim again, stating that she was blindsided by CBS and that she basically isn’t responsible for her response. Below a few details via People:
Osbourne, 68, apologized on Friday for her comments in the episode, during which she said that she had been accused of being racist after voicing her support for Morgan, 55, in the wake of criticism about his response to Markle’s recent interview with Oprah Winfrey.
However, the TV personality is now claiming that CBS “blindsided” her when the topic of Morgan was brought up.
“I blame the network for it,” Osbourne told Variety on Friday night. “I was blindsided, totally blindsided by the whole situation. In my 11 years, this was the first time I was not involved with the planning the segment.”
Osbourne explained that the showrunners called her about eight minutes before taping began to ask if it was okay if they asked about Morgan.
“I said, ‘Sure, they can ask me whatever.’ But then I get on there, I say my piece and Sheryl [Underwood] turns around straight-faced, looks at me and is reading from a card with questions,” she said. “I was just so hurt, caught off guard and stunned by what I was being asked and not prepared. I was honestly in shock. I felt like I was in front of a firing squad. I felt like a lamb held out for slaughter. … They had me there for 20 minutes.”
Osbourne also said she “begged them to stop, to please change subjects” when they went to commercial break.
Sharon continues to avoid self reflection by screaming she isn’t racist and blaming everyone but herself. No one is buying it and several people who have worked with Sharon are pointing out that this isn’t her first instance of racism. Holly Robinson Peete tweeted that Sharon called her and Leah Remini “ghetto”. Remini tweeted in 2012 that Sharon was behind the two of them getting fired for the show. I am not sure how Holly and “ghetto” could ever be in the same sentence but there it is. Sharon then denied ever calling Holly “ghetto” and tweeted out a private correspondence between her and Holly in which Holly thanked her for being a good co-host. HuffPost contributor, Yashar Ali, called out Sharon’s intentional withholding of the second email that Holly sent to Sharon after Holly found out that Sharon was instrumental in her firing. Yashar also provided proof by way of a six point thread of Sharon’s past racist behavior on the show and in some of her own tweets. CBS has announced that The Talk will be on hiatus and that all upcoming live shows have been canceled pending the review. All I have to say is that Sharon had it coming. And as my mom has always taught me, birds of a feather flock together. If Sharon did not have the same beliefs and values as Piers, I promise you, she would not have supported him.

She’s proven to be an all around despicable person. What’s even more frustrating is the thousands of comments on her “apology post” from white women saying “we stand by you” and “we forgive you” and “no need to apologize” as if the apology was for them to accept in the first place. Candace Owens apparently said that Meghan isn’t “Black enough” to have experienced racism. There is not enough eyeroll.

There’s also the comment she made about Justin Bieber when he was wilding out some years back and acting like a complete ass. She basically said, “Justin, you’re not Black.” Meaning that his bad behavior was because he was acting like the young Black men who were his main friend circle at the time. She is vile.
I used to be on this royal site, and there was a lot of this on there, WW saying, “well she doesn’t look black TO ME and she hangs out in white spaces so therefore she’s faking blah blah blah.”

I hear comments like this from white people all the time. Right now, they’re mainly from white men. They feel attacked by MeToo and BLM. Now they’re all, “Why me? Don’t go putting me in a group and treating me that way just because I’ve done it to you.” Or “I haven’t done this to you, OTHERS have, and I have no responsibility here.” Or “what you think happened actually didn’t, which is why no one is responsible for it so how dare you try to place that on us?” They personalize the pushback from below and get emotional about it when what we mean, when we talk about white men, is really a condition (in which white men are the most powerful people in society) rather than individuals.
It’s hard because I don’t know when to tolerate this as part of someone’s learning process, and when to just write someone off. I think we can all agree that Sharon digging in and denying/refusing to learn merits writing her off. Her insisting this about HER and nothing else is a problem that isn’t tolerable. Especially as this is all unfolding in public. People gotta learn. Sharon, white men, you’re not the victim here.
Why, oh why can’t anyone give a sincere, meaningful apology? Why can’t anyone (in this case white men) say “I want to apologize for the way you’ve been treated, and the way you’ve been hurt. You did nothing to deserve such treatment and it is a crime. Any part that I played I apologize for and promise to do better.” Or just a simple “I’m sorry.”
Sharon obviously enjoys playing friends to all sides. That email from Holly is something else… Sharon released it to prove Holly is lying but it only shows that Sharon obviously has racist tendencies. She talks out both sides of her mouth and had conversations with Holly and Leah about Julie. The ‘communist state’ was obviously a behind the scenes racist joke between Sharon and others about Julie’s Asian background? Sharon really is dumb for putting it out there.
So no specific apology for her bullying of Sheryl? But she is anti-bullying. She bullied her in public, she should apologize in public.
I can’t stand to watch Sharon Osbourne it hear her voice, and would be thrilled to see her go. Any possible scrap of sympathy went out the window with her “If I’ve offended anyone” apology.
If you need to apologize, don’t qualify it. Don’t half-a** it. Say you’re sorry, period. Acknowledge your wrongdoing. Don’t offer excuses.

I find the excuses as vile as the racism. It’s like they are admitting that they usually keep their racism under tighter wraps and want the world to apologize to them for putting them in the position where their own racism is on display.
He originally blamed it on his high blood sugar. Approximately 100,000 diabetics stepped up to let him know how wrong he was about high sugar symptoms. It was glorious and funny.

And while I did find the responses from those with diabetes funny, I’m still incredibly sorry that a man who found it necessary to viciously attack CHILDREN would be anywhere near kids in the first place. Sharon needs to be replaced. She will cry that she’s been cancelled but the speed in which CBS has launched an investigation tells me that there have been other complaints about her behaviour on the show.

That was an astonishing clip to watch and I had my 10 year old watch it with me. I wanted him to see what playing the victim looks like, and that it’s used to shut down conversation.
Sheryl was extremely polite, didn’t lose her cool, didn’t even get wobbly voiced (like I do when I’m attacked but in the right). Sharon wouldn’t let her get a word in edgewise to answer the questions she was allegedly asking.

Even without knowing there was a follow up email after Holly learned more, that email hardly reads as though it’s Holly’s sincere, or complete, thoughts. It is obviously very carefully worded to praise Sharon, but it’s somewhat damning in that (a) Sharon wouldn’t take Holly’s calls, and (b) she easily changes course and throws others under the bus when it benefits her. I have a very good friend who used to be a personal assistant to someone in the family. While she wouldn’t discuss things in great detail, our friend group all knew Sharon hated her and treated her horribly. She would try her hardest to have no interactions with Sharon at all, and it seemed like Sharon would go out of her way to insult her or make her life difficult.
I’m curious about this hiatus. I hope the rest of the cast decided not to go to work until the network had ,at least, a serious conversation with Osbourne. I bet they got a lot of complaints as well. There must be more behind the scenes, especially when others started showing receipts of Sharon’s bigoted and thoughtless behavior on Twitter. The way she spoke to Sheryl was just so disrespectful and abusive. The. To say she was blindsided, after dropping that nugget about vile Morgan. Did she really think that would be ignored. I’m sure Sheryl had notes because she needed to stay calm and focused, and they all knew this would be discussed on the show. As Holly Robinson said, Sheryl stayed calm because she HAD to.
They could have had her sit out while they conducted their investigation…the message would have read better than yanking the show, even temporarily, due to her public display. That was awful, she canceled herself!
