We continue to receive good news out of the Marvel and Disney+ camp. This week Marvel dropped the first trailer to their upcoming first Asian superhero movie, Shang Chi. And now, my two favorite franchises are getting a mashup, sort of. Emilia Clarke, Khaleesi from Game of Thrones, is joining the cast of Marvel and Disney+’s new project, Secret Invasion.

Secret Invasion will star Samuel L. Jackson (as Nick Fury), Ben Mendelsohn, Kingsley Ben-Adir (OMG he’s gorgeous) and Emilia. Secret Invasion was a crossover comic about the secret Skrull invasion of Earth. The Skrulls are a shapeshifting alien race whose planet was destroyed by the Kree. The Captain Marvel movie gives several clues to what happened between the Kree (from the first Avengers) and the Skrull. Marvel (with their top secret plots and casting) are refusing to comment on Emilia’s role but I am sure it is epic.

Emilia also announced her three issue comic book M.O.M. (mother of madness) which is an image-heavy comic book that started off as a joke. You can find out more about it here at EW. Below are a few more details from Variety about Emilia’s role in Secret Invasion:

“Secret Invasion” was announced as a development property last year, one of Marvel’s many planned titles for Disney Plus. Jackson is reprising his MCU role of Nick Fury, while Mendelsohn will play the Skrull Talos as he did in the feature film “Captain Marvel.” “

The series is said to follow a group of shape-shifting aliens who have been infiltrating Earth for years. Ben-Adir has been set as the a main villain. Kyle Bradstreet is attached to write and executive produce. Kevin Feige’s unit is producing the series for the streamer, as it does all other MCU titles, including the hits “WandaVision” and “Falcon and the Winter Soldier.”

Clarke is a four-time Emmy nominee for her portrayal of Daenerys Targaryen on HBO’s global smash “Game of Thrones,” which just celebrated the 10th anniversary of its premiere. She is also a multiple Critics Choice Award nominee and was the 2018 recipient of the BAFTA Britannia Award for British Artist of the Year. Clarke is an AMPAS member and was also noted as one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People. She is repped by Range Media Partners, CAA, Emptage Hallett, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush, Kaller & Gellman.

I don’t care what Emilia Clarke does in the Marvelverse, I am just stoked that she has joined the franchise. Emilia created a comic book that looks epic AND joined one of the most coveted comic book movie franchises. She makes baller moves. The only thing that irritates me about this announcement is that I have to wait god knows how long just to see a teaser trailer then the show.

Marvel and Disney+ are doing some amazing work. I have enjoyed WandaVision and Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Both shows have had incredible writing and action sequences. Something tells me that Secret Invasion will be just as good.

Besides nabbing Emilia Clarke, Marvel was able to get Kingsley Ben-Adir who is next level gorgeous. Unfortunately he may be covered in blue or green makeup but that’s ok. I am also wondering if Secret Invasion will be a sort of prequel or addition to Captain Marvel or Doctor Strange. I am just excited to have Emilia in my favorite comic book universe. In the meantime, I am looking forward to her comic book, which is coming in July.

Nooooo, I wanted to see her in the X Men reboot

    But still, good for her

    • Courtney B says:

We don’t know she won’t be linked. Marvel is being tight lipped about when and how the x men will be introduced. I think it’ll be gradual. They’ve already introduced madrippor (an x men locale) through Falcon and Winter Soldier.

  2. Lightpurple says:

    Love Emilia!

Olivia Colman is also in talks to join this cast. This show will be huge.

And I hope they bring back Goose the Flerkin.

  3. Darla says:

I adore her. I’m really excited about this.

  4. Alissa says:

she seems very nice and is very beautiful, but I just don’t think she’s a good actress. I’m not sure why she’s always being pushed so hard.

    • Tanguerita says:

she is not, but it’s Marvel. She’ll manage just fine.

    • Case says:

Agreed. She seems lovely but I find her kinda distractingly bad as an actress. And people can think what they want about Marvel movies, but I think the vast majority of their casting choices are spot on. They typically pick actors who inhabit their roles so, so well.

    • Sankay says:

I don’t believe she’s that bad. In her GoT role she had to act and speak in a different language plus there’s all the health issues she went through.

      • Oy_Hey says:

This – the years where people were complaining about her acting were the years she had two brain aneurysms. Last Christmas is an awful movie but she and Henry Golding make it somewhat watchable because they good actors not just cute faces.

  5. Eleonor says:

Happy to see she is doing well and she has a lot of projects!

  6. Loretta says:

I love her so much, she’s so kind and nice. A real sunshine

  7. Courtney B says:

Nick fury was seen in outer space in the stinger following Spider-Man Far From Home. In the same it was shown Talos and his spouse impersonated Nick and Marie Hill which, to me, implies that Maria is maybe involved too. I hope so because Maria is badass and Colbie Smuthers great in the role. WandaVision introduced SWORD which may connect. It’s weird because I was just thinking Emilia Clarke would be great in the MCU and low and behold!

    • Lightpurple says:

As I said above, Olivia Colman is in talks to join in too. I agree with wanting Maria Hill to join in and possibly a return of Clark Gregg’s Agent Coulson. This show could be epic.

      Also, we want Goose!

      • Courtney B says:

Love Olivia Coleman and hopes she signs on. Julia Louis Dreyfus is going to feature in a number of projects apparently as the bad guy version of nick fury. They’ve always been good at attracting talent and using them well. Their casting director Sarah Finn is the MCU’s secret weapon.

      • LightPurple says:

Julia Louis-Dreyfus’s arrival in last week’s episode of Falcon & Winter Soldier was brilliant

  8. MellyMel says:

Very excited for this show! The cast they have so far is amazing.

  9. Mei says:

Slight tangent but the outfit in the last picture (minus the bag) is gorgeous

  10. FHMom says:

That is one cluttered kitchen, but it looks like she actually uses it to cook. Emilie’s adorable, so best of luck to her.

  11. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

Good for her. She appears to be a really grounded woman…caring, kind and generous. She can’t act, but her choices are highly entertaining (except for a couple or so). I absolutely love her kitchen.

  12. Holland S says:

If you want to work in Hollywood these days you’d better develop your own stuff or join the Marvel capitalism on steroids universe.

  13. Veronica S. says:

I’m kind of impressed that she’s the been the one whose career has really taken off post-GoT. Her acting can be hit or miss for me depending on the project, but I like her overall. She comes across as very sweet and charismatic in videos, though, so I’m sure that helps her. Her agent certainly isn’t sleeping on the job.

  14. Nicole says:

I’m very curious about her comic book, she’s very good at writing. Her article about her brain aneurysms that she wrote two years ago in the New Yorker was really good

  15. cheche says:

Good for her. She seems like a nice person.
I watch mostly British tv programs, through PBS or Acorn & Britbox streaming channels and Kingsley Ben-Adir shows up a fair bit. He was on “Vera” for about three seasons. Now he’s moving into film and getting lots of notice for his work. And yes he is gorgeous also.

  16. Meg says:

At times during the pandemic she looked so thin i worried she was hurting herself because she does have such a warm smile and seem nice. Even if she wasnt i wouldn’t wish an ED on anyone
