Brad Pitt looked especially fresh-faced at the Oscars following his ‘wisdom teeth removal’

93rd Annual Academy Awards, Press Room

The flurry of sugary tweets about Brad Pitt last night have me wondering if Brad is paying for pro-Pitt bots, much like Johnny Depp and the Cambridges seem to be paying for their online support. It was so immediate and so cloying. Even if you’re genuinely a Brad Pitt fan, surely you have to admit that the “support” for him seemed weirdly over-the-top? Especially given that the man reportedly abused at least one of his children, and whose ex-wife recently told the court that she will offer proof of his domestic violence? Even for a white guy in Hollywood, Brad seems especially bulletproof, to a crazy degree. He really is prom king and no one will ever knock him off that pedestal.

Anyway, yes, Brad put in an appearance at the Oscars. He won Best Supporting Actor last year, so he returned this year to present the Best Supporting Oscar to Minari’s Youn Yuh-jung, who said something about how it was nice to “meet” him. Which is funny because… technically speaking, Brad executive produced Minari. Had he not met the cast before now? People Magazine claims Brad “teared up” watching her speech too.

Less than two weeks ago, Brad was seen leaving a medical center in a wheelchair. Brad’s team claimed he had his wisdom teeth removed. But his fresh face tells a different story. People were also talking about his “man bun.”

Love him or hate him, he did look great.

    • Ariel says:

Really? I thought he looked awful. I mean, he’s been famous for a long time, and he was a beautiful young man, and has looked great in middle age.
But i thought he looked awful and not quite right. His speech seemed a bit off- maybe from dental work, he seemed drunk.
And he didn’t help the older oscar winner down the steps when she finished her speech, didn’t turn around and offer her a hand. Everything about him seemed odd to me.

      • Darla says:

Wow really he didn’t help her down the stairs?? Would never happen on Chris Evans’ watch!

      • Jenn says:

I mean, no, he didn’t help Yuh-jung Youn “down the steps,” because he escorted her backstage??? They were talking animatedly, and she eventually took his arm as he walked her to Press???? Thanks to Steven Soderbergh’s digital camerawork, the cameras seriously walked aaaaaall the way backstage with each award winner.

      • Poisonella says:

        He looked drunk to me.

      • dj says:

No. To everything. He looked awful. Both his tiny ponytail and his face. I thought he looked rough. This is the first time I thought he has really lost his good looks while also looking too try hard with the hair. My husband immediately noted that he did not help the wonderful actress from Minari down those seemingly treacherous steps. He said “a Springfield (Missouri) boy would NEVER get away without helping” someone down the steps. He said it several times during the night. It really struck him as very poor behavior especially both of us being raised in Missouri too.

      • MsGnomer says:

Sorry to say, Springfield, MO is not somewhere people have manners/respect. If you’re white and straight, maybe, to others who are like you. Many, many bigots here, unfortunately. I look around me, and understand how BP could be an abusive drunk who belts his kids, and didnt think to escort this elegant lady.

PS “American Taco” has his photos hung in the womens restrooms. PPS I suspect AJ and kids come to visit the grandparents here still.

    • Agirlandherdog says:

He looks very Legends of the Fall here. I completely forgot last night was the Oscars (even though I was reminded by a podcast earlier in the morning), so I have no point of reference other than these specific photos.

    • Lemons says:

Yep, he is getting some great work or great facials. Whatever it is, it’s working and isn’t obvious.
Someone is mentioning forehead shine, but this kind of sheen isn’t really the same as the overly botoxed.

    • Madelaine says:

Brad Pitt’s plastic surgeon has indeed the most subtle hands that put a light drop of whatever chemical just where needed and don’t try to erase at all cost the signs of time.

If Brad was ever violent or abusive, I would love for the matter to be appropriately punished as a crime and not dealt with as another toxic white manhood issue. Pitt’s Caucasian dna has nothing to do with the purported demeanor for which he is now liable, but his drinking and drug addictions do. I am starting to intellectually overdose on the propensity to systematically turn unaddressed psychological issues into racial and / or gender matters. Why disregard the simple fact that whoever heavily drinks and smokes drugs might become abusive to their children, irrespective of their gender or ethnicity?

Perhaps we should collectively question the cultural lopsidedness and biased rationale that currently drive us to blindly misinterpret a domestic violence case as another insufferable white man’s privilege. Not sure to what extent debunking the white male’s objective achievements will solve the issues of dependencies and the domestic abuse it entrenches. By this, I mean that any solution resorting to the same excesses and brutality that characterize the initial problem, is unproductive.

      • Brittany says:

Madelaine, statistically men are far more likely to be abusive or violent to family / in the household. Men and women are not the same here and are not demographically interchangeable.

Brad Pitt was initially investigated but the court case for his children is ongoing. I will tell you the courts don’t always make the right decision, the police DEFINITELY don’t always make the right decisions, and going through the legal process is extremely difficult (and expensive) for a survivor of abuse or violence. There are multiple reasons a man might not be convicted.

Donald Trump never got convicted on rape or sexual assault either, despite openly bragging about it. Our society gives rich white men a pass. We do not live in an egalitarian society. I think we’ve all seen enough police brutality to understand that.

      • Madelaine says:

Brittany, I totally agree with you regarding the statistical fact that men are more likely to be physical abusers than women. However, the female abuser figure is such a social taboo that it still remains to be fully documented from sociological and statistic standpoints. It is indeed difficult, not to say scientifically impossible, to document extensive verbal abuse, demeaning and vexatious words because they leave no material evidence on the victims. Therefore, would it be far-fetched to assume that females can be just as abusive as males but that both genders do it in very contrasting ways, one being non quantifiable and the other more visible? Looking at how some mothers use derogatory language to refer to their daughters’ looks on a bridal gown-picking day is to me as serious a form of abuse as a slap across the face. Words are weapons. Plus, didn’t the nasty Bill Cosby just get away with everything for three to four decades? He wasn’t exactly white…
I am very interested in this conversation, so thank you so much for your response.

    • Kkat says:

I thought he looked wierd and stiff, he always looks like he’s faking being human. What we see is just surface acting

    • Freddy says:

      He looked DELICIOUS IMO…..

    • bros says:

      I still would.

    • NotSoSocialButterfly says:

Still looks like a dirtbag to me.

    • april says:

      He looks amazing.

      • Dl says:

Really? I am 60 and we won’t say the last time I got intimate. But I would not hit that with a ten foot pole except to smack him upside the head with it. He looks ewwwwww

  2. Bettyrose says:

The forehead shine says it all.

  3. josephine says:

I actually thought he looked awful when he was speaking. The still pics are a little better, but he had definitely bags under his eyes and looked every bit his age (nothing wrong with that) while he was speaking. My son’s first comment was “I guess he’s back to drinking again.”

And he should leave the man bun to super fit soccer players. It’s too try-hard and sad on anyone else.

  4. Noki says:

He looks GoodT ,like 90s Legends of the Fall good.

    • Agirlandherdog says:

Haha! I said the same thing above!

    • LaurenMichelle says:

I”m here for the Tristan vibes..I love Brad with long hair. Brad looks like he is in pain…having your wisdom teeth removed as an adult is brutal. Sometimes your face becomes swollen and bruised. I had my impacted wisdom teeth removed when I was only 31, and it was worse than childbirth.

    • lucy2 says:

Wow I totally don’t see that.
I don’t find him super attractive to begin with, but he was hot in LotF. But I don’t think he’s looked good for quite some time now – aging of course, but his substance abuse issues have probably taken a toll as well.

  5. Cecilia says:

Considering females will literally write serial killers love letters in jail, im not very much surprised by all the pro brad pitt tweets. Even if he’s suspected of domestic abuse.

  6. josephine says:

On a differnt note, I really loved Youn Yuh-jung’s dress. It was simple but had definite style and it looked fabulous on her. And her speech was pretty awesome.

    • coffee_coffee_coffee says:

I so agree! It was my favorite of the night. I also loved Zendaya’s. both were age appropriate and both women looked amazing in them.

    • lucy2 says:

      I love her dress too!

  7. GingerSnap says:

    Following that link to TMZ…

… God, their website is effing gross. About Minari, “… we know, ya probably didn’t see it.”

And then ending with this commentary on Brad Pitt’s executive producing Minari and Youn-yuh Jung’s perceived slight, “You know what they say Brad…. no good deed.”

How boy’s club and just distasteful. What a cesspit. Thank God for places like Celebitchy and LaineyGossip and writers like Kaiser and Elaine Lui and Anne Helen Peterson.

    • blues says:

he is slime thats alll I got and even looks like it

    • Lorelei says:

Seriously? That’s just so gross and stupid. Like I’m sure right at that moment, when that woman is winning an Oscar, what’s on her mind *for sure* is how she can make a veiled, petty comment to the presenter which comes across as polite small talk. Ffs, do these people even hear themselves.

I loved her dress, too. Haven’t seen Minari yet but we watched the trailer and it looks so good, so it’s on my list to watch asap. I mean, yes, TMZ, most people probably haven’t seen it, or most other new movies, because movie theaters have been closed for over a year and the country has been dealing with a pandemic. Idiots.

  8. Mrs. Peel says:

He’s Brad Pitt, of course he looked great. But scanning the room there were far more handsome men than I can recall at previous Oscars – and dressed impeccably.

  9. Oliphant says:

Hmm has been actually had work done? I still see lines etc, but does that just mean it’s good work? I get a shiney forehead in pics but it’s just my greasy skin lol

Oh wait I do see maybe the lips?!

    • NotSoSocialButterfly says:

I think he got some fat sculpting in his mid-lower face and maybe a lower face/neck lift. That would account for the mid/lower face swelling PR expected to explain away as wisdom tooth removal.

He’s in his upper 50s… has *anyone* here ever heard/known of *anyone* having wisdom teeth extracted beyond their upper twenties? Maybe very rarely early 30s? Ever?

      • Kkat says:

Well I had my two upper ones extracted when I was 38 and the two lower ones extracted last year, I’ll be 53 in August.

I actually know lots of people that have had them out in their 30-40-50’s

That being said I think he got work done, lower jaw sculpting and maybe some tightening

      • SurelyNot says:

He didn’t have work done less than two weeks ago and is already healed — not to the extent of a lift. Fillers maybe, a touch of brotox…sure…probably a good peel and a facial.
Us Olds don’t heal from plastics like one would think — I still looked like a rabid panda 4 weeks after my bleph — 2 weeks in I could wear sunglasses to work and not startle the interns.

      • Bee says:

I got mine out at 40 and it was a hellish nightmare. My childhood dentist claimed they were so impacted they’d never surface and then they erupted over a week’s time when I was 40. It’s major surgery at that point bc the roots keep growing and they grow past the nerve that runs along the jawline. My oral surgeon nicked the nerve trying to extract my wisdom teeth and I have permanent numbness.

  10. Soupie says:

Loved that Youn Yuh-jung zinged Brad during her speech! Then he had to be courteous as she was exiting the stage, and pose with her! As for how he looked, a little tired to me. The hair is probably for a role. He’s always changing it.

  11. Jayna says:

Nah. It’s just the light-diffusing makeup, etc. These shots are far away. And he’s not all baked from a fake tan. If he was up close, you would see his wrinkles and age. He’s a handsome man, though. It’s like Naomi Watts. Sometimes from a little far away, with the makeup and everything, she looks like she barely has a line, and then a closer shot on the same red carpet shows all of her lines. She’s still beautiful and has such a youthful smile, but has never tried to become Nicole Kidman and erase every line she’s ever had on her face. .

  12. Bella says:

He doesn’t look like he has had anything done, but when he spoke he sounded like he was high and he kept mumbling. So, maybe he did have his wisdom teeth out.

    • SurelyNot says:

He holds his mouth strange and the words just come out…odd….I noticed first on Inglorious Bastards and thought it was the role, but a few times since then it seems the same. It’s like after Pirates every time Depp spoke it was like he couldn’t shake Jack Sparrow….Pitt sounds the same to me from the Naaaaazis.

  13. Esmom says:

I think he looks good and I see plenty of evidence of his age on his face. But it seems a little odd to be getting wisdom teeth removed in your mid 50s.

    • Chartreuse says:

I had mine out at 50, they were causing problems. I doubt it’s common though.

      • jwoolman says:

I’m old as dirt and still have one wisdom tooth lurking under the surface. If it starts causing trouble, then it will be extracted. But the dentist has always said it isn’t a problem right now.

    • LightPurple says:

Depends on the condition of the teeth/gums. I only got two wisdom teeth on the bottom and one of them never fully came through because the roots were twisted. I had it out just a few years ago because my dentist said more of the gum had pulled away from it and dirt was now getting in under the gum and there was no way to keep it clean and it would eventually get infected. So, out it came long after all my peers had had theirs out.

      • Lady D says:

My son’s two bottom wisdom teeth each arrived with a friend, another half-sized wisdom tooth. They were jamming the rest of his teeth forward and had to be removed when he was 28. He said it was incredibly painful.

    • TQ says:

I had my wisdom teeth out at 17 (I recognise you can have them done later). But the swelling in my cheeks and jaw didn’t go down for weeks. Not buying it at all. I think it was a light procedure like subtle fillers and a chemical peel.

      • whatWHAT? says:

I had mine out at 18-19, and had only minimal swelling, for less than 24 hours.

it totally varies from person to person.

      • Cate says:

I also had mine out in my teens and really didn’t notice any externally visible swelling. The holes had also healed over well within a week. I do notice I generally heal more slowly now (almost 40) so who knows what it would be like for an older person.

Honestly I think he looks a bit greasy here.

      • SurelyNot says:

there’s no reason to roll someone out in a wheelchair after a peel or some fillers — that’s usually reserved for conscious sedation involved with dental work…or he had a boob job.

      • lucy2 says:

My face swelled into an actual square, it was a nightmare! I think I was in college? Can’t remember. Others I know had very minimal swelling.

    • Esmom says:

Thank you for these replies, as it makes me happy that my kids got theirs out in their late teens, the same way I did!

    • Doulton says:

I had three impacted wisdom teeth extricated when I was 26. I rode my bike to the dentist’s office and rode it home again. Novacaine but no hospital or wheelchair. I also got a thoughtful gift bag of opiates to help me along the way.

    • Kkat says:

I had my top two out at 38 and my bottom two out last year at 52

    • april says:

I had an impacted one in my 50’s so I had no choice but to have it extracted.

  14. Charlotte says:

He looks disgusting to me!! YUCK!! 😐 I cannot believe, how people find him attractive!! He is ugly!! 😳

  15. MellyMel says:

He doesn’t look like he’s had any work done. He looks the same and his age. He’s just a very handsome man. Always has been and I suspect always will.

  16. Chartreuse says:

That pose with Yuon just looks so self-satisfied and disrespectful. Slouching, smirking, hands in pockets.. What a creep.

    • Lorelei says:

Something about the hands in the pockets bothered me too. I don’t know why but it just seems so disrespectful during the actress’s big moment. Like he doesn’t care enough to even pretend to pose with her, or something? Idk but it came across as him not giving a sh!t where he was or what was happening.

      • Chartreuse says:

That’s what I saw too. I mean he might be high, who knows, but yuck either way

  17. STRIPE says:

I doubt the surgery was cosmetic – if it was invasive enough surgery to require a wheelchair and cover story, 2 weeks is not enough time for recovery, settling, and bruising to fade. If it was minimal work he could have been in and out of the dr office no problem without a wheelchair

  18. Lily P says:

question: do these photos get edited prior to release? I thought he looked zonked on film whilst presenting but he looks completely different in the stills after.

anyway it sucks that this man seemingly has no shame in using women for his own PR and image. This was Youn Yuh-jung’s moment and his bots/pr machine/paid for outlets are trying to outshine and monopolise on her fantastic career achievement.

  19. ShazBot says:

to me, it looked/sounded like he is maybe drinking again? I think the face puffiness is from alcohol, and he sounded verrryyyy chill and trying to get through. Though maybe he was just high. I don’t know. Definitely not the healthy, cleaned up Brad that got trotted out in 2017.

    • TQ says:

      Yeah, maybe smoking herb?

    • cassandra says:

Yeah after a certain age you can’t hide the impact of drinking on your face. I’m in the my 30’s and two glasses of wine will noticeably puff up my face for a day or two.

  20. Eenie Googles says:

    He does look great though.

  21. Jennifer says:

I don’t see any changes from how he looks before. I doubt he had plastic surgery as is being suggested. Sometimes wisdom teeth removal is just wisdom teeth removal.

    • Kristen says:

      Agree with all of this.

    • Kebbie says:

Yeah, I have to agree. He looked good, but not “newly refreshed” good. I’m sure he gets his maintenance work done just like all A-list celebrities, but I think he probably also just had to get his wisdom teeth removed.

  22. Tashiro says:

He looks the same to me and he looks great.

  23. Darla says:

I do think he looks very good, but I still don’t like him.

  24. Sigmund says:

His face looked good, but that haircut on him is awful. That and the beard just make him look scraggly and unkempt, and not in a sexy way. More in a homeless way.

  25. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

He looks good. Better than I’ve seen him look in years.

  26. Case says:

I’m so interested in these bots. Are they really that sophisticated? It’s so strange and scary to think about. I honestly do think scumbags like Depp and Pitt have extreme love and support from real people, but I’m sure they pay for that online presence to send them over the top.

On a happier note, I was SO HAPPY Youn Yuh-jung won! I wanted her to win so badly; she was marvelous in Minari. What a sweet and funny woman.

  27. WithTheAmerican says:

I can’t believe there are people in the world who believe anyone they see often on the red carpet in Hollywood might NOT have had work done.

Of course he had work done. He still has lines but his jowling sagging mess of a drunk face is tighter. Every a list actor has had something done. It’s either good work or obvious.

    • Aphra says:

So happy you wrote this! Drives me nuts that everyone doesn’t understand that ANY person in film or tv gets Botox, peels, lipo, eye lifts etc. Every. Single. One. 100%

  28. ThatgirlThere says:

He looks the same as ever, handsome and whatnot but knowing he’s an abuser who refuses to get help for the sake of his life and his children is negates all of it.

  29. Hmn says:

The photos are always airbrushed for him lol he looked horrible as usual.

  30. meloroast says:

He looks more and more like Diplo. Entering shame f*** territory.

    • Weeeeell says:

Maybe he saw jolie was at that barbecue and believed the dating theory

      • urfav says:

He does look like Diplo lol hilarious. Angelina would be better off dating Diplo than this unwashed wannabe artist deadbeat abuser.

  31. A says:

Some men look good with his hair style. He is not one of those men. He looks like a follicly challenged Viennese composer from the 17th century, who’s too poor to afford a good wig, let alone a proper barber, or a bath. He looks like the sort of guy who’d be on the cover of a truly atrocious romance novel. He doesn’t look good, and I don’t know what anyone is talking about.

Yuh-jung Youn’s shade is epic, and I love it.

    • Emily_C says:

Yeah, besides everything else, he looks unwashed. Serious Johnny Depp syndrome going on here.

  32. LeonsMomma says:

Brad mangled her — Youn Yuh-jung — name, then proceeded to not help her on or off the podium.
He is having subtle work done, looks his age, which is fine.
Bots: I commented on something negatively on the Daily Mail about him (re-doing his makeup artist’s house, while never mentioning the Make It Right mess) and the bots were out in FULL FORCE. I had a comment taken off as offensive, then I added more, that they tried to bury or thumbs down. I was not going to lose and just kept on posting, and eventually they moved on. He is paying a pretty penny for those.

  33. Yolanda says:

I don’t believe he hasn’t got works done on his face, maybe not two weeks ago,but definitely got works done.
I still remember vividly how his face looked like melting in that script reading last year.

  34. Talita says:

He looks great and I still love Legends of the Fall

  35. AmyB says:

I used to love Brad Pitt – back in the day. Thelma & Louise, Legends of the Fall, A River Runs Through It, Seven, Fight Club….the list goes on

Of course when he was married to Jennifer Aniston, and even when he got together with Angelina Jolie, he had major movie star power IMO. I didn’t like the fact that Jolie was somehow blamed for the split between him and Aniston, but whatever. He’s always been extremely hot, and very handsome to me, and honestly still looks good. HOWEVER, knowing what we do now, about what probably went down with his son Maddox, and his ex wife on that plane, I just can’t with him anymore. It’s the same with people like Kevin Spacey for me. I loved Spacey as an actor for years, but finding out about his horrific and abusive sexual history, I can’t look at him the same anymore either. I feel the same about Pitt now. He just looks different in my eyes now.

  36. Rice says:

Minari started off at a snail’s pace, started picking up and then Youn Yuh-Jung helped to carry it across the finish line (the whole cast was great but she was spectacular!).

All I gotta say about Brad is that “wisdom teeth removal” is 2021’s “kidney surgery”.

  37. Lively says:

He looks bloated I don’t see the great looking guy

  38. 2lazy4username says:

I’ve never understood his appeal. He’s always given me Deliverance vibes.

  39. Tiffany says:

Pitt is out here getting some great movies with non white cast made and off the ground and them moving to award winning glory.

Why the hell is he such a mess in everything else?

  40. Sadie says:

He looks great to me. Not sure if he had his wisdom teeth out or that was a cover for other work. I did get two wisdom teeth out in my early 30s for whatever that’s worth. Superficially – he’s still quite hot!

  41. L says:

Brad Pitt? Bleh. But, congrats to Youn Yuh-Jung! She looked marvelous! 🎉

  42. Belly says:

This is what cosmetic work should look like. Fresh, not tweaked.

So many people go way overboard and try to erase every sign of age, and they end up looking like gargoyles.

  43. Emily_C says:

He looks the opposite of “fresh-faced” to me. More like “the beginnings of mummification.” He looks like your gross drunk uncle who smokes and never uses sunscreen. Older than his years and weirdly out of it. He’s even got the rat tail hair.

  44. MsIam says:

Fillers. And his hair looks dirty to me. He reminds me of the Rob Lowe character in St. Elmo’s Fire, the one who is still trying to hang out with the frat boys even though he graduated a while ago. Sorry Brad.

  45. Lumen says:

I had three out early 20s at the dentist. Easy stuff. Last one turned out to be impacted in my 30s. Had to get them removed under gen anesthetic at the hospital, by a maxillofacial surgeon. Bunch of liability stuff/paperwork and they probably would have insisted on wheeling me out too if I hadn’t had the time to stay for observation for I forget how many hours it was. Think that was what that was for Brad Pitt. He didn’t want to stay too long for observation after gen anaesthetic. He probably had his own private doctor monitoring him at home. Thev super rich get different rules.

  46. Sarcasm101 says:

Off topic, everyone looked awful last night. There I said it.

  47. AmyB says:

    @Sarcasm101 LMAO yup pretty much!!
