Back in January, we heard that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were on the verge of filing for divorce. It took a few months, but it finally happened, and the California divorce is moving at a glacial pace from what I can see. Back in January, there was also a lot of talk about Kim possibly already having a jumpoff: CNN’s Van Jones. Kim and Van Jones have known each other for years and I would consider them professionally friendly. But the rumors persisted and people online really think Van and Kim are banging. Now Cindy Adams – Page Six’s delusional in-house gossip columnist – included this little blurb in one of her latest columns:
A new burble’s coming out of the Kim Kardashian klub. Throats are clearing throats after whispering the name Van Jones. Nice-looking. Political reporter. CNN talker. So left, his car won’t even turn right. Who knows, but he maybe even influenced her politics. He maybe even has ties to show business types.
He maybe even knows folk who’ll quickly shut their tongues if his name is even breathed in connection with maybe Kim, maybe. I will not wait while everybody tells me I don’t know what I’m talking about.
Other outlets have picked up Cindy Adams’ blathering. The Daily Mail says that sources close to Kim are trying to shut down speculation again. Personally… I don’t see Kim and Van? But I’ve been wrong about the Kardashian-Jenners before. All of this talk about how Van could “help” Kim’s lawyering or political ambitions… like, do you think Kim is a political naif? Do you think she needs a little CNN guide to “help” her? She does not, and she especially doesn’t need another guy who has cozied up to MAGAland. According to Kris Jenner’s press operation, Kim is being pursued by royalty, A-list actors, athletes and CEOs. She has better options than Van Jones.

I don’t care one way or the other for the K Klan, but what does concern me is that a few of those kids are older with access to everything we have access to on Beyonces internet and in the interest of her eldest child, the Kris Jenner narrative pushing should chill. Divorce is hard on kids enough as is. Don’t need to come across stories of mom with another dude…and if North doesn’t have access to those stories, we know Mason is on the case and he’ll tell it
But the Ks choose to put all this out there front and center… they obvs do not care how it is/will affect the children.

Not only did Jones produce a documentary with Meghan McCain, here is what he had to say about Trump in February of this year (AFTER the insurrection):
Jones stated that Trump “has done good stuff for the Black community. Opportunity Zone stuff, Black college stuff …. There is a side to Donald Trump that I think he does not get enough credit for.”

I have always gotten the vibe that Kim isn’t overtly sexual — not asexual per se, but just not all that interested in needing a man in her life for movie and popcorn snuggles, everything just seems transactional. Even the famous ‘sex video’ is meh.
I think the speculation being thrown out is more to drive up the market so to speak rather than an actual interest in this particular man.
I get that same vibe from her. I can’t see her with someone for awhile. She doesn’t seem like she wants to be with anyone but her family anyways.

Van Jones has been such a disappointment. He seriously sold himself and his journalistic and political future to be invited into the Republicans’ skanky tent. He aligned himself with the most corrupt presidential administration, lauding their mediocrity at every turn. He did all that to be power adjacent.
I’m no fan of the K family because they have no integrity and they’d sell every facet of their life for money and attention. They are superficial and thrive on lying and smoke and mirrors to dupe young impressionable fans. In my opinion VJ fits right in with them.

My daughter was a Vassar student in 2019 when Van Jones was the graduation speaker. She wasn’t graduating, so our family didn’t also attend, but she was so impressed with what he said, she asked us to watch a recording. She’s not a veracious political hound like her siblings, so we agreed to watch with her, if for no other reason than wanting to know exactly what spoke to her in such a deep way. (I recognized Jones’ face, but knew nothing about him or his politics, but felt safe guessing that the graduation speaker at Vassar would never (ever) be a right-winger.)
Before making any judgement about Van Jones, I implore everyone to listen to that speech; in all, it clocks in just under 20 minutes, but I am betting you’ll be *very* glad you did. If you can only spare a few minutes, better some than none. (My daughter graduated last spring—a virtual Covid-era debacle that crashed Vassar’s server, so she decided that Jones’ previous speech was what was called for in that absolutely dystopian moment. Afterward, one of my sons, who was due to non-ceremonially graduate from high school the following weekend, said it was just what he needed to hear, and wished his boarding school mates would’ve experienced as well.)

The issue with Van Jones is that he is a smart, intellectual man playing various roles. He rides the fence because it helps him career-wise. It doesn’t matter how well he articulated his points at a Graduation ceremony. He is amoral and living foul. The African-American community was really excited to see him on CNN especially when it came around Trump’s election and then he became a big, bright disappointed because of how he comports himself.
Thank you Imara. WE have seen more than enough of Van Jones over the years to see what he is about. Watching him coddle Santorum on CNN during the last election cycle made me want to throw my remote at the TV.
Actions speak louder than words. I am glad that what he said resonated with your child in a positive way. But within the last four years he praised the Trump police reform bill without disclosing that he had a hand in writing it. Plus he saw trump give a joint address to Congress, manage to hold it together long enough to praise a veteran, and then said “it was one of the most extraordinary things you have ever seen.” And that’s just off the top of my head. I see with my own two eyes the way he behaves and, as a result, I don’t entirely care what he says because I don’t think it’s coming from a place of honesty.
When Kim married Kanye, it legitimized the kardashians in many ways. she’s doing the same thing here, whether they are dating or not, this rumor is meant to legitimize her in her next act as a lawyer.
Yes. The Kardashian-Jenners were a joke up until Kanye. It was HIS fashion contacts that finally got them accepted in those circles and allowed them to mix with so-called A listers. As you said, this Van Jones rumor is meant to help Kim be taken seriously in professional circles.

Honestly, I understand that he may not always mean everything he says on TV. I’m sure they all get pressured to make different arguments and so on. But especially when it comes to Trump, what we say does matter.

I’m not sure she will go for famous. I see her doing what George Clooney did and finding the male version of Amal. She’s a user, 1st Paris, then Ray J, then Kanye and the next will be someone to advance her next agenda.
Normally I’d say this was a downgrade, but he’s a 45 apologist masquerading as one of those “I don’t hate anyone” people so he and Kim were made for each other, because I’m sure she’d love to latch on to his CNN gig as a way further advance the “I’m a serious businesswoman and social justice warrior” narrative she keeps trying to make a thing.

Honestly? Kim’s got the kids she wanted, the lifestyle she wanted, the fame she wanted…I don’t see her really seeking out a new guy any time soon. She’s not particularly “physical” or affectionate, and she doesn’t seem to want to spend time with people outside her family/approved-friend circle. So if she’s not needing a man for a purpose (read: sperm, clout, access, etc) why would she have one?
