Duchess Kate wore a $12K Asprey necklace for her anniversary portraits

Giuliani Press Conference at RNC Headquarters

One of the things which annoyed me consistently about the fashion/styling coverage of the Duchess of Sussex (pre-Sussexit) was that it was clear that Meghan came to the UK with a nice wardrobe and her own privately-purchased jewelry collection, but no effort was made by palace or press to differentiate between “what new clothes Meghan purchased for events” and “what she already had in her wardrobe.” It’s even starker when you look at how Kate’s love of expensive bespoke clothing, shiny gold buttons and new jewelry was represented in the media versus whatever Meghan did or did not purchase. Add to that, Kate’s jewelry is usually presented as a “gift from William,” even though there’s enough evidence to suggest that she’s picking out the pieces she wants and just charging them to Charles OR the pieces are freebies which she should NOT accept, yet does. So, with all that in mind, Kate has a “new necklace” and we’re supposed to be super-jazzed about how it’s her “new anniversary necklace,” except she probably bought it last year.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge released two beautiful photographs to mark their tenth wedding anniversary on 29 April, and we’re still swooning over Kate’s floral dress in the snaps. But did you notice her sparkling diamond necklace, too? The royal sported the floral pendant for the first time, though it matches another set of jewels she owns from luxury brand Asprey.

Kate was first seen wearing a pair of earrings featuring the same daisy motif during her royal visit to Ireland back in March 2020, so we wouldn’t be surprised if she got the necklace at the same time. The Duchess’ new necklace is the ‘Daisy Heritage Pendant’, which sells for $12,350 (or around £8,800), while the earrings are worth nearly £19,000 – a price that has been increased since she was first seen wearing them.

[From Hello]

I bet she did buy the necklace last year, or whenever she bought the earrings she wore in Ireland. It amazes how often Kate buys stuff and then she won’t wear it for months or years. We’ll be seeing so much of that in the next year too, because I guarantee that Kate spent a lot of time during the pandemic doing her online shopping for her beloved Sister Wife prairie dresses and probably jewelry too. I wonder how much Charles spent on all of Kate’s pandemic shopping. Anyway, imagine dropping $12,350 on a cute diamond necklace and then not wearing it publicly for more than a year.

We are most definitely not still “swooning” over the pictures and i still think that the picture at the top of this post looks awkward.

And waiting for the outrage at the expensive jewelry while british kids are going hungry. Any minute now…..
    in 3…2…1….
    ……….

    • Tessa says:

That would have been the comment of the day if Meghan had gotten that from Harry.

    • Cessily says:

I hope they are ethically sourced diamonds for that price. Would love to see that they are certified Canadian diamonds since many in the USA (and probably elsewhere) are clueless on that subject.

      • Mac says:

All of Asprey’s diamonds are ethically sourced. That probably adds to the price.

      • Seraphina says:

@Cessily, can you please clarify your statement?

      • Mac says:

Ethically sourced diamonds are not illegally mined to fund armed conflicts and are mined in an environmentally stable way. You may recall “blood diamonds” were used to fund the civil war in Sierra Leone.

      • Seraphina says:

I was not sure if the comment about us in the US were clueless on what ethically sourced meant. I know and so do all my friends. So I was curious for the commentator to expand upon the generalization.

      • equality says:

I’m clueless on it because I own NO diamonds, however sourced.

      • Saucy&Sassy says:

Seraphina, I wondered if the comment had to do with diamonds coming from Canada. I have to admit I wasn’t aware that there is diamond mining there.

      • Agreatreckoning says:

@Seraphina, I’m with you on the clarification. Also, hoping that the use of the word ‘clueless’ in regards to the USA was meant more like may not know that diamonds are mined in Canada because that is something that a lot of people may not know. Not a big fan of diamonds myself. It was an article in Time 10/15 years? ago when I really learned about blood diamond mining and felt it helped support my dislike of diamonds when people didn’t understand why I just didn’t want one. Laugh at having to explain that now. This is an older article now but Asprey declined to comment at the time. Unfortunately, I don’t believe an English jewelry maker(some might) has a problem with buying conflict diamonds or that Kate would even think about where the diamonds come from.

      • Becks1 says:

Ethically sourced diamonds are really important but I doubt a member of the british royal family is concerned with that issue.

    • Lisa says:

Is it just me or does William look like he’s saying “Hee Haw” instead of “Cheese”?

  2. Watson says:

Is it necessary to get something new when she has something so similar already?

Like apart from the royal jewels everything she has just seems the same. She is so frustrating…to have so much access to great gems and then to purchase the most boring items which she already seemingly has!

Meghan may not have had as much money to purchase things but at least she used much of her own money, and the things she purchased were fun and on frequent repeat. I often dream of owning some of her birks items (snowflake earrings being my fave as they were a signature to her).

    • AnnaKist says:

Yeah. She’s a bore, and a predictable one. Button-y, buckle-y, frilly, pocket-y… she rarely strays. At least she gave up on those horrid wedgie shoes.
It’s funny. There was an episode of a documentary abiut the royals, last night. It’s past 1:30am here. That episode was about how and when Bill proposed to Cathy, and the subsequent wedding. What struck me was when the narrator reminded us of how she made it her business to turn up at his ar ious Uni events, looking “stunning” in a mini skirt; and how she “waited for him for 7 years”, as if it was something to be really proud of, her life’s work. Then again, maybe that was her life’s work?

    • Commonwealthy sounded witty at first says:

Love the Birks Snowflakes too! Also all her rings. The ones she wore to Eugenie’s wedding are lovely, gold and citrine (I think).

      • Watson says:

Commonwealthy sounded: me too!! I loved Megs’ jewelry because most of it was very accessible in cost, minimal and modern. Many pieces also supported causes she supported (ethical smaller companies etc). She was pretty judicious about her purchases choosing mostly everyday yellow gold items, rewearing them often. However, the snowflake birks earrings were by far the priciest and her statement piece she broke out for the most formal events. You can see her wearing them time and time again! Hilariously she would still get more cost per wear on those earrings than Kate on any of hers.

      • Watson says:

Forgot to add that her jewelry from
Eugenie’s wedding was from ethical london based jeweller Pippa Small (yellow gold and quartz crystal from Herkimer NY). Her rings are so organic and lovely!

  3. nicegirl says:

I like the necklace but I’d skip the earrings. Also, this is ridic. Way too extravagant

    • GRUEY says:

I really don’t understand jewelry pricing. Those little shit earrings are 20k? Listen you want nice diamond earrings, there are amazing pairs on The Real Real right now for less than 5k (not that I’m spending that kind of $$).

    • Heat says:

I don’t really think that it is too extravagant for a member of any royal family to wear expensive jewelry. It’s not up to me to decide whether they are nice or not, because I’m not the one wearing it.
The problem I DO have is the messaging. If Kate wants to appear like she’s “just like us”, then a pair of $20K earrings IS too much.
So, she needs to choose: be a royal and dress like one, or be “like us” and dress accordingly.

  4. Merricat says:

Lol. The Cambridges never look natural to me; it’s like they’re pretending to be humans, but at night, they slip the skins and become lizards.

    • Nic919 says:

When you look at other long term married couples like the Bidens and the Obamas, you can see the obvious differences between couples that actually like each other and those two who can barely stand each other.

    • Jillian says:

Is that what that green business is under the green blazer? Lizard skin is the only reasonable explanation, I can’t believe anyone would make (let alone wear) a blouse that ugly

      • Becks1 says:

Oh I’m about to make it a lot worse for you. It’s not a blazer, its a long coat, and its not a blouse, it’s a dress. See, it all had to be green, because she was arriving in Ireland. Note the lime green clutch.

      • Eurydice says:

I was so transfixed by that big padded headband that I didn’t even notice all the green.

      • swirlmamad says:

AND the greens don’t even match. Someone was drunk or really salty about something when they put that mess together for her.

      • Maevo says:

God that green outfit was so atrocious. Usually her theme dressing doesn’t bother me that much, but that one was so ridiculously over the top and UGLY. I felt embarrassed for her.

  5. Becks1 says:

I admit i’m intrigued by how their finances work. Does Kate have a credit card and just buys whatever she wants and Charles picks up the tab? Does he pay for their groceries and such as well? Does he give them an allowance, deposit a certain amount in her bank account each month, or what?

At any rate it seems that’s what she gets in exchange for being married to William – complete financial freedom.

And my guess is she was going to debut the necklace last year as well but when things locked down she figured it would probably be in poor taste.

    • Noki says:

Lol i asked something simillar below,im very fascinated on how the little day to day things work. I would hate having to go through some type of protocol if i just want to get a box of tampax.

    • Nic919 says:

Yes it’s clear that letting Kate shop is how she is bribed to leave the house because she almost always has a new outfit when she steps out, or if it is a repeat then there is a new piece of expensive jewelry that of course barely gets mentioned.

    • Cecilia says:

@becks1 i think they are getting a certain amount from charles on their bank accounts each month and that anything extra they would have to earn themselves. Im sorry but i can see charles being quite strict with how much money he spends on the Cambs. I don’t think he’s just going to throw money at kate. Maybe they also get a bit from her parents each month who knows

      • Becks1 says:

I think the last report I saw he spent millions on them a year. Like 8 million or something. So I don’t think he’s that strict.

      • Mac says:

It’s all relative. Charles’ net worth is in the the hundreds of millions and, compared to what he spends, $8 million may not be a big deal to him.

    • Wiglet Watcher says:

      Becks1
I’m piecing this together from bits the press has reported on and things we’ve seen.
Charles has private wealth with the duchy and other ventures. He funds the Cambridge’s and did so even while dating. Remember the mic and video that caught Kate asking William when he would ask his dad for money so they could vacation?
Kate now has access to an account with a card she’s used to grocery shop twice with the paps. And anything she buys, then wears in public is a write off for Charles. This was briefly an issue when Kate wore a hat for a work event, it was written off, then Pippa or Carole wore the same hat. Which could be a crime and misused funds.

Tl;dr Kate has access to Charles’s money and he writes it all off once she wears it for work or is purchased with SGrant funds.

    • Sofia says:

I imagine they’ve got like 2 separate accounts or so? One is for “personal” expenses like school fees for the kids, clothes that won’t be worn in public, new furniture, money for staff etc etc and another for more official expenses like clothes that will be worn in public, transportation, hair and makeup for events etc. The personal one is Duchy of Cornwall money and the official one is Sovereign Grant money.

Or it could just be one account where 95% of the money is from Charles and 5% is from the Sovereign Grant (got these figures from the SussexRoyal website)

    • BayTampaBay says:

“At any rate it seems that’s what she gets in exchange for being married to William – complete financial free

However much Kate gets, it is definitely not enough to put up with William.

  6. MF1 says:

That is an extremely lame necklace for $12k. I could find something similar at Nordstrom for $50.

    • Watson says:

MF1: right?? It’s so frustrating!! 12 grand for a snoozefest.

    • lucy2 says:

      Same here!
I lose stuff very easily and don’t wear much jewelry, so I don’t shop for much of it, but I’ve seen similar necklaces everywhere.

  7. Christa says:

Oh dear. That bright green shirt really clashes with that jacket.

  8. Noki says:

Do these royals actually get credit or debit cards ? When Kate is pictured on the high street does she carry cash or have an assistant following her behind with a special duchy black card?

    • lanne says:

My guess is that she doesn’t carry cash, nor does she have a credit card. She likely shops at places that already have a connection to the RF, and the shop sends the RF the bills and they are paid by Charles accountant (or whatever fancy title that person has–Royal Echequer or whatever). She may not even have any idea what things cost. Bespoke clothing doesn’t have price tags. Or, stores bring their wares to her at the palace (more likely), she picks what she wants, and the stores send the bills to Charles.

      • MsIam says:

I think your right @Ianne. I remember reading how Diana used to give Will and Harry pocket money when they were little so they would know what it was like to spend cash. Apparently Charles and the other royals never carried money. It sounds like Kate is doing the same thing with her kids.

      • Wiglet Watcher says:

There were 2 pap set ups to see Kate be normal and shop for her own groceries. She used a card both times.

      • swirlmamad says:

Yes, agree with this scenario. Aren’t credit cards more of an American thing, anyway, or am I wrong about that?

      • Curious says:

I think Harry said that royals do not carry cash.I am guessing that to mean not even a visa card.

    • (The OG) Jan90067 says:

But Kate IS KNOWN to buy online. I would bet there is a Black Amex on file (with a “fake” name) that she is given to use. The bills go straight to Charles, of course. She may be told she can spend up £30-40K/mo. on it. But girl does browse.

Her PA, Natasha, was quoted once as saying she will find things on Net-a-Porter for Kate, so there’s that, too. Purchased on that special card with the “fake” name, from Charles’ bank account.

  9. bonobochick says:

Her hair styling makes it hard to see the necklace in the pics.

    • Nic919 says:

She does this so much. Why wear jewelry if you just hide it with your extensions.

      • Becks1 says:

Remember the event where she wore the Jenny Packham (the midnight blue one that was similar to the one she wore for the BAFTAs when she was pregnant) and she had this GORGEOUS huge diamond necklace on and we couldn’t see it because her hair was hanging down?

I do think she’s gotten better about that at least for formal events but not for everyday events.

      • (The OG) Jan90067 says:

Becks, I DO remember that. It was gorgeous: the Nizam of Hyderabad diamond necklace.

From The Mirror: “The Queen received the necklace as a wedding present from an Indian potentate in 1947. She wore it for one of her official Queen of Canada portraits and loaned it to Kate for the National Portrait gala in 2014.”

    • Dee says:

She does the same with big bling jewels borrowed from the queen or fancy necklines. Why wear them if you are going to cover them with curtains of hair and extensions? Girl doesn’t know how to style or accessorize.

    • Watson says:

For a more clear pic of this pretty, perfectly acceptable and extremely boring piece which looks like everything else she owns https://www.asprey.com/us/daisy-heritage-pendant-diamond.html

      • bonobochick says:

It’s nice enough but it’s definitely not extraordinary by any stretch.

Long hair should be pulled back or up to show it off.

      • (The OG) Jan90067 says:

It’s basic and boring. Just like Kate.

I find it so sad, that she buys all these expensive, little pieces, claims they’re from William (who we ALL KNOW is notoriously tight). The saddest was the tiny eternity band she gave herself after George was born.

      • Eurydice says:

Looking at it on its own, I think it’s very pretty and elegant. Kate just doesn’t know the right way to present it.

    • Seraphina says:

I will agree with the commentary that she does this with all her nice jewelry. The Big Bang ones too. This necklace is a snoozer. Such a waste she has access to all that and she has no idea how to wear them. But, like her clothing, they wear her and not the other way around.

  10. BearcatLawyer says:

Diamonds during the day? Isn’t that a breach of protocol? Or is it only a problem when the other duchess does it?

    • Wiglet Watcher says:

Protocol is whatever the palace says it is for whomever they say.

    • Julia K says:

Sounds like you met my granny back in the day! There is “day jewelry” and “evening gems”, not to be mixed. Miss some of those granny sayings tho they seem outdated now.

    • FicklePickle says:

Nah, even Queenie likes to bust out the diamonds during the day. Those brooches have got some high wattage bling going on.

  11. Lemon says:

Her hair is really pretty in these. I know she’s not liked around here but whoever does her color is brilliant at blending.

    • Brittany says:

And do you understand why someone might not “like” a figurehead of a conservative state institution?

  12. Eating Popcorn says:

I wanted to point something out – if you google the Duchess of Cambridge 2015 and recent Duchess of Cambridge there is such an obvious difference. In 2015, 2016 even 2017 she looks very happy, normal, natural (even in a wiglet.) Here photos now look very forced and there seems to be a deep unhappiness or meanness to her. It is obvious when you look at photos side by side.

    • HeatherC says:

She looks very hard. The botox isn’t helping.

      • Mac says:

She needs a better dermatologist. A good doctor is not going to make your face look that frozen.

      • FicklePickle says:

@Mac Yeah, but she’s likely paranoid about that stuff getting out to the public, to the point that she won’t dare leave her trusted & silent doctor with his trusted & silent office staff NOW.

    • Anance says:

Perhaps the change in Kate’s face can be attributed to her enormous weight loss after Louis and three difficult pregnancies; the latter can age you fast

  13. Over it says:

Kate buys ridiculous expensive jewelry that’s just blah whenever she wants and yet, Meghan was supposed to return to acting because they wasn’t enough money to pay for her.these people make me so angry

  14. HeatherC says:

How dare anyone criticize the Top CEO, Willy whisperer and King Maker Kate the Great for the trifling cost of 12K when Mean Meghan the exiled ‘duchess’ that everyone hates wore a necklace worth 1800 in her Oprah interview where she tried to bring down the only real English Rose Duchess (no not THAT one, she’s not a duchess!) by calling her a good person!

12,000 by Kate versus 1800 by Meghan, it’s easy to see who the real reckless spender is!
(entirely sarcasm btw. Please read in Camilla Tominey’s voice)

  15. milliemollie says:

My mom said that everything looks expensive and fancy on Meghan because she’s so beautiful and elegant while Kate is just not after I told her that Kate likes to buy expensive things because she thought Kate doesn’t spend much on clothes because her looks don’t look like it. So my mom would probably think she got that necklace from top shop or something

    • Cessily says:

      Deleted

    • Lucretia says:

Kate has the incredible talent of making bespoke Alexander McQueen look cheap. I loathe her taste, especially her juvenile theme dressing when she goes on tour. She certainly enjoys her free for all with Charles credit card.

  16. Amy Bee says:

I haven’t seen any outrage from the press about Kate’s expensive necklace.

  17. Maria says:

That necklace is pretty but unexceptional.

Side note since it’s a jewelry post, I splurged on one of the Right Hand Gal initial necklaces (the company that made Meghan’s famous H and M one) and the Mini Mini Jewels Dog Tag necklace Meghan wore at the 2019 US Open. They are so dainty and pretty! 😍

  18. Kelsey says:

I’m so glad to see someone say it- I remember them commenting on how Meghan’s wardrobe was too expensive before she even tied the knot. Homegirl was wearing blatant repeats that anyone could’ve seen from a simple google image search and the media had the nerve to price check every single thing she owned. Yet here is Kate, with a $12,000, necklace and it’s crickets.

I know it can’t be proven but I honestly believe that (to an extent) Meghan was coming out of her own pocket for Royal wear anyway. Ain’t no way I’d let others dictate what I could spend my hard earned money on and I’m a whole self made millionaire.

But anyway, for $12,000, Kant could’ve gotten a way nicer necklace. I’ve seen better necklaces on Piercing Pagoda for goodness sakes!

    • Maria says:

I feel like that’s what Meghan was implying when during the interview she said it was suggested she keep acting because they didn’t have money to spend on her. That she had to pay for most of it herself. Ridiculous.

    • Amy Bee says:

I always suspected that Meghan paid for own clothes but it was Harry talking about being told that she should keep acting because there was no money for her and a buzzfeed report after the interview about when the Palace denied stories that confirmed to me that she spent her own money on her clothes.

      • Becks1 says:

Yeah in the aftermath of the interview I became convinced that Meghan was paying for her own clothes. Someone on twitter did a breakdown and there wasn’t an increase in the Duchy of Cornwall accounts for what Charles spent on his sons. I remember when that came out because there had been such an outcry over M’s spending and then the numbers were basically the same, maybe a slight increase, and so then people figured Meghan just wasn’t spending as much as people thought. But in the context of the interview and the aftermath I think there wasn’t a huge increase because she was paying for her own clothes.

I really would like that confirmed though bc I think that is so unbelievably shitty if its true.

    • Lucretia says:

I felt that Kate’s spend on clothes and jewellery was quite low. Couture McQueen and all of the bespoke items from pricey designers are quotes as being almost the same as retail. It doesn’t make sense.

Meghan has her own money, since she had a job, Kate never worked, other than a few weeks at Jigsaw and allegedly as a photographer at PartyPieces

  19. yvrjanice says:

Well, I happen to think Kate looks amazing in these pics. So many haters here! I am loving her blue dress.

    • yvrjanice says:

Or am I allowed to say nice things about her? This website claims “different opinions” are encouraged.

      • Merricat says:

Lol. Yes, we hold Kate accountable for her despicable behavior with Meghan. Takes the shine right off her apple, it does.

      • swirlmamad says:

Any other good qualities about fabulous Saint Kate besides her clothes that you’d like to share? We’d love to hear them.

      • Kalana says:

You can say as many nice things about KKKate as you like. Did she make someone’s funeral about her again?

    • Lizzie says:

You can always spot the Keen stans and trolls because they insult the other commenters right off the bat. I guess you were disappointed no one took your bait so you commented yourself.

      • yvrjanice says:

Wow. A troll? All I said is I like her dress and she looks good. Who did I insult, lol? You can’t deny there are haters on this site. I just have a different opinion. Is that not allowed anymore?

      • Maria says:

        Lol Janice.
You came in here guns blazing with “WELL I HAPPEN TO THINK SHE LOOKS GOOD”. Okay, lots of us thought so too? And then the defensive “So many haters here. Or are different opinions allowed”? Chill out, I think you’re the most bothered one.

    • greeneyedgirl says:

i will say, she does look good here. William not so much

    • Becks1 says:

I think she looks good but its hard to tell bc the pictures are so photoshopped. I wish they would stop and just let her look like herself.

I do think that for many of us here, our evaluation, for lack of a better word, of the royals has gone way beyond just commenting on their physical appearance and fashion so its hard to just say “kate looks good” because Kate has done some horrible things to Meghan and Harry.

      • Merricat says:

Yes, for me, it doesn’t matter what she does to her physical appearance; the ugliness of her character makes the surface irrelevant. Also, there are plenty of other places where Kate stans can sigh about how pretty she is.

      • Nic919 says:

Someone with an ugly character can never truly exude beauty despite physical appearances.

  20. TheOriginalMia says:

Pretty sure I’m not swooning over her Sister Wives’ dress or that necklace, but carry on trying to hype those creepy overly done pictures, Hello.

  21. Cottage Cat says:

As a previous “supporter” of the Monarchy that inspired my working-class parents and grandparents living through the London Blitz, where London was bombed night after night, and Mum hid under the table, I say this: how the heck did Carole, Gary and Kate, get so near the throne, despite pics of creepy, yet seriously rich, Uncle Gary, urinating in the street and a conviction for knocking his wife out cold with a right hook? Yet he’s painted as “a good bloke who tells it like it is”…..Could it be something to do with , “William, we have a ton of recorded dirt on you. You wouldn’t want it to be released to the gutter Press now, would you?”

    • Maria says:

I don’t think they have more dirt on William than he has on them. And should dirt be uncovered he would be far more likely to be protected.
He’s in a dysfunctional unhappy marriage with the last woman who would put up with him and he prefers her family to his own as he has basically said.

  22. Lizzie says:

Just the thing to wear on the new yacht!

  23. anp says:

What a beautiful and thoughtful gift from the Prince to Catherine.

    • Becks1 says:

she bought it a year ago.

      • Maria says:

In addition to that I doubt we’ll ever see her wear it again 😂

      • Nic919 says:

It literally says nowhere that William bought it for her. Besides if it matches the earrings she wore on tour in Ireland, then it was purchased then and claimed as a business expense, as she has done for all her clothing worn during tours in the last decade.

Had William actually purchased something for her it would have been proclaimed to the skies, but as usual their silence on that issue is telling.

      • swirlmamad says:

People literally guessed (used that wording) that it came from William, but they have no idea if that is true or not. Which means most likely he didn’t buy it for her.

      • Merricat says:

        Lol

    • (The OG) Jan90067 says:

If you really think HE bought it FOR her, I have sea front property in Colorado I’d like to sell you.

  24. The way they touched each other is like they just touched each other again on day of the shoot after several years of not touching each other. There’s no love in the room. That’s why their poses are contrived indeed.

  25. Doublesteff says:

I don’t know if anyone has pointed this out (I didn’t have time to run through the posts while at work.) is the butt of her dress yellow?

    • FicklePickle says:

That is probably ambient sunlight reflecting off of the grass and onto her skirt. It IS a very pale color after all, and it’s only on the highest points of the folds in the one portion of the dress that happens to be directly facing the grass. The undersides of Will’s trouser legs seem to also have a slightly yellow-green tinge to them.

  26. Randie says:

    Excellent article!!
Keepen comen! Kate needs to be shown up for who she is.
British media is discussing Kate new 12+ necklace, but I can’t wait to get my hands on Meghan’s new children’s book!!

  27. JaneDoe says:

That is a REALLY unflattering pic of Will, the one where we only see 3/4 of his face.( actually both anniversary pics SUCK for him) Not that its at all easy to make him look good. Its INCREDIBLY shocking, how his looks have turned on him. When he was in his teens and twenties (pre-Baldilocks) he was kind of a strapping, handsome guy. But once he hit his thirties and started losing that hair, i feel like his nose became more hawkish, his brow is permanently furrowed and in fact his face is seemingly STUCK in a permanently-soured look and from his appearance in the anniversary pic i dont think hes even capable of smiling but rather can only manage a weird grimace-sneer in place of a smile in the top pic and in the pic where his face is full-frontal he is wearing one of THE most insincere smile-sneers ive ever seen. In fact, everytime i see a pic of him i simply CANNOT believe how unattractive he’s become (all the MORE reason to be jealous of Harry)

  28. Jessica says:

I am not one to pick apart someone’s looks, but my goodness, these photos make William look really unattractive. There was a time when he was cute/fairly handsome – he’s such a nothing burger now. His nothing burger personality just shines right through in these.

    • Becks1 says:

It’s really kind of sad what happens to the Windsor men. I don’t know if its genetic, the outside reflecting the inside, or what. I feel like Prince Philip held onto his looks for a long while, even when he was a lot older you could still tell that he had been a good looking man when he was younger. I feel like if you told a 16 year old about how attractive William was when he was younger they would look at you like you had three heads.

  29. Paisley25 says:

If I was super rich and famous, I’d only wear custom jewelry so no one could look up how much my stuff cost or run out and purchase it. I’d that price point, I’d want to be unique.

Charles used to be better at buying jewels for Camilla, but lately all her stuff has come from Asprey too. I love jewelry but hate name brand jewelry.

    • JanetDR says:

Expensive brand name stuff always seems (to me anyway) to be plain if not outright ugly. I have so many gorgeous pieces from craft shows and Etsy! I love color and a funky style, not tiny little unnoticeable bits.

    • Paisley25 says:

Whoops. Charles has been buying that Alhambra stuff from Van Cleef & Arpels not Asprey.

  30. Nivz says:

Basic bitch here- I semi like the pendant, because I am a fan of marquise cut diamonds and the ball pave, but otoh I truly detest flower or heart shaped jewellery.

  31. Legalease says:

I really don’t care that she wore a $12k necklace, just like I didn’t care when Meghan wore expensive jewelry or clothes. What I DO care about is the fact that people only seem to have an issue when it’s Meghan doing the shopping…

  32. KW says:

does anybody else think that William looks like Sam the Eagle muppet? In these anniversary shots anyways…

  33. SusanRagain says:

OK, I have been saying for decades that the ONLY reason to marry into the BRF is for the excellent jewelry. lol
I was fascinated by Wallis Simpson jewelry collection as a child.

Honestly, the BRF has turned into a soap opera.
Dysfunctional, and out of date, out of touch, etc., etc.

  34. Amelia says:

    Meanwhile,
Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex has authored a children’s book based on the relationship between Harry and Archie. The illustrations looks so beautiful! It’s going to release next month and she will also narrate they audio version! Can’t wait!

    • swirlmamad says:

I just googled this as I hadn’t heard about it….seriously, I can’t love this woman any more. Can’t wait to see the post on this tomorrow!

  35. greeneyedgirl says:

Kate looks good here! I will give her that, the necklace is basic and boring, and not worth the price tag. William looks horrible.

  36. Izzy says:

How are we supposed to see the necklace when it’s hidden under all that hair?

  37. Coco says:

Kate’s been airbrushed so hard that she and William are in separate time zones.

  38. The Recluse says:

Those photos are so AWKWARD. I can’t get over that.

  39. Mamasan says:

Is that the same type of padded headband that the press gave Sarah Ferguson so much shit over???

    Oh how the tide turns.🙄

  40. Gk says:

Echoing posts above, I want to know how much the other royals get to, annually, freebies, housing, salaries of staff. Because when H said in the interview he had to use Diana’s money, I wondered if bills are paid but you don’t get a salary, and if it was true of Edward/ Sophie and so on.

  41. Gk says:

And why isn’t that information available publicly? In most states I’ve lived state salaries- Like universities / schools and so on are public.

  42. Cecilia says:

Prince William ages horribly! I had a crush on him when he was young. Now not so much.

  43. Cottage Cat says:

Has anyone seen William and Montgomery Burns in the same room? 😆
