Scooter Braun & his wife Yael Cohen have separated, but no one is saying ‘divorce’

Scooter Braun and wife Yael Cohen arrive at the Los Angeles Premiere Of YouTube Originals' 'Justin Bieber: Seasons' held at the Regency Bruin Theatre on January 27, 2020 in Westwood, Los Angeles, California, United States.

Scooter Braun is the music industry manager and CEO best known, in gossip circles, for managing Justin Bieber and beefing with Taylor Swift (or rather, Taylor beefed with him). The only reason I’ve heard of Scooter’s wife Yael Cohen is because she issued a separate statement directed at Taylor Swift back in 2019, calling Taylor out for misrepresenting the Big Machine sale. Yael only did that because Taylor clearly personally targeted Scooter and his family and weaponized her Snake Army against them. Yael and Scooter have been dealing with threats and harassment for years, and they have young children. Well, it appears that Scooter and Yael’s marriage has suffered in recent years, and they’ve now separated:

Scooter Braun and Yael Cohen have split. PEOPLE has learned Braun, who manages Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande among others, and businesswoman Cohen are separating after seven years of marriage, but there are still hopes that they may work it out.

“Their friendship is the best it’s ever been but they’re taking some time apart to sort things out,” a source close to Braun and his wife tells PEOPLE. “So many couples went through this during the pandemic. They love each other and just need some time apart and will hopefully bounce back for their kids,” adds a second source.

News of their split was first reported on by Page Six. The pair shares three children: sons Jagger, 6, and Levi, 4, as well as 2 ½-year-old daughter Hart.

Braun, 40, proposed to Cohen, who founded and serves as the CEO of the charity health organization F— Cancer, at his Los Angeles home in January 2014. They wed that July in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada.

Four days before news of their split, Braun shared an anniversary tribute to his wife on Instagram. “If just for the kids you have given me everything. But thanks to you I have grown, I have been pushed to be the best version of myself and to continue growing and learning. That all happened because you came in to my life. 7 years. The adventure is just beginning. Thank you Yae. I love you. Happy anniversary,” he wrote along with a black-and-white portrait from their wedding. “A Team 4lyfe,” Cohen added in the comments section.

I wonder what’s happening behind-the-scenes. It feels like he f–ked up and now he’s trying to win her back. Affair, maybe? Or maybe it’s purely financial – Scooter has recently made some huge deals which have seen his personal wealth balloon. His deal with HYBE netted him a reported $400 million personally. Maybe Yael is simply looking to cash out. Hm.

I’m picturing Taylor sitting somewhere cozy and comfortable, sipping some coffee, and reading the news with a smirk. I’m not mad at her for it.

  2. Case says:

In Taylor’s song Mad Woman that seems to be about Scooter, there’s a line “the master of spin has a couple side flings, good wives always know.”

So I imagine he cheats/cheated on her and it’s an open secret in the industry?

  3. Lily says:

“The master of spin has a couple side flings. Good wives always know. She should be mad.”

I guess Yael finally had enough.

How do you know this? Makes total sense if it’s true, but it is weird that she commented favorably on his anniversary Instagram message, unless she found out in the last couple of days.

      • Darla says:

I dunno, team for life when you have kids? That can be said even among divorced couples, if they are being amicable for the kids’ sake anyway. No one knows, but Taylor tells you all in her songs, and I agree Mad Woman is about Braun. Though for me personally, it’s about Trump. lol

      • Golly Gee says:

@Darla, you’re right. Kids definitely make it “team for life“, so that could be what she meant. I’m not familiar with Taylor’s music so I’ll have to check out that song.

The People write up plus the caption on the Instagram anniversary post definitely seem to point towards Scooter being in the dog house.

    • Golly Gee says:

But she commented “a team for life“ in response to his Instagram message. It’s bizarre that they split up 4 days after being all lovey-dovey on Instagram.

If you’re planning a surprise legal attack, so the other party doesn’t do something with the $$, keeping up appearances on IG is recommended, probably.

      • Golly Gee says:

Good point Sassafras! Personally, I hope she cleans up.

Looking to cash out? Are you serious!? This post reads like TMZ when they’re providing some divorce PR for Brad Pitt or Johnny Depp.

The master of spin had a couple side flings, good wives always know…

Maybe she woke up one morning and realized she was married to an adult still calling himself Scooter.

My friend dated a Scooter all through high school. He ended up going to law school, and when I saw him at a bar in our early 20s, I found out he was going by Michael. I asked him why, and he goes, “no respectable adult is called SCOOTER.” Touché, Mike.

    • AMA1977 says:

So much this, I’m glad I waited to comment. He’s an ADULT. With the name SCOOTER. That’s all you need to know.

    • Golly Gee says:

      😂😂😂
When I hear the name, I imagine a kid wearing a beanie with a little 2 blade propeller on top.

The date of separation is very important, money-wise. I found this out watching Dirty John 2: The Betty Broderick Story on Netflix. Amanda Peet gave the performance of her career. Christian Slater was good as the skeevy husband. Not giving Yael any advice, for sure, but just lawyer up and get your share.

    • Apple says:

I can’t stress how important legal separation is. A friend of mine married a guy who was living apart from his wife for well over a decade. When he finally went to get a divorce all that living apart meant nothing when the judge ruled on his pension and benefits she got. Since she got credit for being married all those years. You have to stop the clock on things like that for your financial future.

I don’t really pay attention to this dude, but what I’ve heard I do not like. And I thought there were cheating rumors a few months back. Yael Cohen COULD be waiting for a payday but she is a whole heiress. Does she need the cash?

    • Div says:

I feel like when people defend Scooter they are letting their dislike of Swift blind them. Yes, she could have handled the situation better but that doesn’t meant Scooter is a good dude. When Biebs was a kid, Scooter had him doing way too many shows when he should have been in rehab. He also made some creepy comments about how Ariana briefly fired and then rehired him that implied he had blackmail material on her.

      • Darla says:

100% Div. It drives me crazy. This is NOT a good guy.

      • cassandra says:

Very much this. He also reps Demi Lovato and it always seemed like, to me, that he got her to sign on with him during a dark time in her life when she was vulnerable.

I’ve always gotten predatory vibes off him independent of the Swift stuff.

  9. SKE says:

Deux Moi had a blind about this week’s ago- something about him meeting some woman at a sex club…

  10. L says:

This man is soooo unattractive to me. Not bad looking but I just don’t find anything attractive about him at all! Yes, I know he’s loaded and see how he would be a lady magnet that way, but ugh just no.

  11. leigh says:

Pretty sure she’s an heiress to a huge mining fortune so not sure she’d be motivated by a big payout. Makes me think he seriously F-ed up.

Can anyone take a grown man called Scooter seriously?
