Ben Affleck’s directing project in Vegas in June was a WynnBet commercial

While I’ve gotten better at following sports, there’s just a lot I don’t understand about sports betting, and the huge proliferation of sports betting apps. I mean, it’s just gambling on sports, I get that. But all of the over/under, covering the spread, tanking, etc – why? I don’t get it. But Ben Affleck gets it. Ben has always loved to gamble and he once got kicked out of the Hard Rock for counting cards at blackjack. Well, big surprise, people associate “Ben Affleck” with “gambling.” So WynnBet hired Ben to not only be the face of their sports-betting app, but he also directed the commercial:

As always, it’s pretty awkward when Ben is directing himself. You would think someone would tell him to change those pants, they do nothing for him. But what’s nice about this is that Ben used his position as director to hire Jennifer Lopez’s mom Lupe. She’s the woman at the slots machines talking about St. Louis. Ben took Lupe to Las Vegas to film this commercial back in June, when Bennifer 2.0 was just getting started. Ben and Lupe have always gotten along well – the first time around, they would go gambling together often, and Lupe was apparently all for J.Lo’s reunion with Ben. Anyway, Ben and gambling. I wonder if he’s really on sports betting sites or whether he prefers the feel of gambling in person in Vegas.

  1. Who ARE these people? says:

Gambling can be another addiction, yes?

The betting industry is corrupt, yes?

Not the image I would want to project but I am not Ben Affleck.

  2. corralee says:

Gambling is another one of his addictions (along with alcohol, attention whoring and self-sabotage). This whole thing is dumb. He’s dumb.

  3. Kate says:

lmao @ shilling an app that no one has ever heard of. He must be broke.

  4. Chaine says:

That was super awkward. And if it was supposed to be funny, I didn’t get it? I hope he made bank to do this because it really cheapens him.

  5. Southern Fried says:

Oh good lord what a mess

  6. Carolnr says:

Wow! Shaq actually makes Ben look little….and he is a TALL man! I love that Shaq is in the commercial!
I think Ben is up for any kind of gambling
JL obviously supports Ben love of gambling, so she is the ” cool girl”
JL’s mom even got her cameo in this commercial! It is a fun commercial!
I can’t even imagine how much $ Ben has won , but has also lost!
They put a mini casino in our mall along with restaurants & bars, which has really brought our mall back to Life. I live minutes away & have yet to go…

Just me, but if my soon to be son in law publicly cheated on my daughter with receipts, then canceled their huge wedding on her 3 days before it was to happen I wouldn’t be thrilled about her reconnecting much less want to work with him. But I heard on LSA that Lupe was always about the white boys for her girls. And I don’t understand this app either but Wynn is a huge Trumpster so the very name is a turn off.

  8. Ambrosial says:

I read that there is some huge concurrence between those betting apps and Wynn invested 100$M for marketing push this season. So Ben is getting his coins while engaging in one of his vices lol good for him I guess

  9. Jane Wilson says:

I didn’t understand a word they were saying. Thank God.
Making gambling look like a dream come true with movie stars and Shaq and chummy laughter and winning – is just flat out creepy and disingenuous.
And it all just looks so cheap.

  10. CJ says:

    It’s funny. And well directed.

    • BothSidesNow says:

I thought it was funny too! It has a good cast, it’s always good time to see Shaq!

  11. Meg says:

Wow he looks gaunt in the picture? If he didn’t have the beard i think it would be even more noticeable

  12. I like the commercial. Ben look better here than in photos. Hoping he is sober. No hate here.
