Prince Andrew thinks his scandals will ‘blow over’ & he’ll return to public life next year

Duke of Edinburgh death

We learned this week that Prince Andrew was going “stir crazy” at home in Royal Lodge, his giant mansion on the Windsor Castle estate. He’s been house-bound because, get this, he’s trying to avoid a process server looking to serve him with the paperwork from Virginia Giuffre’s lawsuit. So he just stayed tucked away in Royal Lodge but mummy’s favorite got so bored! So he traveled back to Balmoral to spend more time with his mother. They were seen together this week on the Balmoral estate – they had a quiet lunch together in one of the cabins:

Prince Andrew and The Queen held a summit in Balmoral’s most secluded boltholes after he bolted back to the Scottish estate days before a civil case brought against him by one of Jeffrey Epstein’s victims reaches court. The Queen’s son was seen arriving at her private 50,000-acre grounds in the Scottish Highlands with his ex-wife Sarah, Duchess of York, ahead of Monday’s hearing in New York.

Andrew and his ex-wife made the 500-mile journey by car for the second time this summer. They last visited the Queen on Royal Deeside just a month ago. Shortly after arriving yesterday, Andrew joined his mother for lunch at a secluded cabin in a forest around six miles from the castle, just on the fringes of the sprawling estate. The wooden building is the most remote shelter on the land, as far away from the main buildings as possible. It was the Queen Mother’s favourite lodge and can only be reached by one road driving through dense forest.

This time it was the Queen and her son who spent around an hour-and-a-half together at the fishing lodge on the banks of the River Dee, before she left.

Andrew reportedly darted out from the rear of the property to avoid being spotted and headed into the forest, where he was picked up by his Metropolitan Police royal protection officers.

Although sources close to the beleaguered Duke of York said the trip to Balmoral was a long-planned holiday, it has also been suggested that may be trying to avoid representatives for his accuser’s lawyers, who have been trying to serve papers on him at Royal Lodge, his Windsor mansion. Security guards have stopped ‘multiple’ attempts in recent weeks.

[From The Daily Mail]

He… darted? He left the cabin by the back door and darted into the woods, where his security had to find him and pick him up? That’s quite something. As for the Queen’s continued insistence on protecting Andrew… yeah, I doubt this was even a “summit.” I think this was just a comfortable lunch between an elderly mother and her favorite child. Now, I bet that Andrew told his mother that all of this will blow over and he’ll be back by her side on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the Platinum Jubilee. Sources said as much to the Daily Mirror:

Prince Andrew believes he could return to public life as soon as the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee next year, it has been reported. The Duke of York allegedly told pals that the scandal surrounding sexual assault allegations against him will “blow over”.

Andrew, who fled his Windsor mansion for the Scottish Highlands on Tuesday, has previously denied any wrongdoing. And a source said he remains “utterly convinced” that he will be able to brush off the claims.

One source close to the royal told The Mirror: “It is clear he (Andrew) has a clear and burning desire to return to work as soon as possible. That may look entirely impossible but if anything he’s become emboldened in recent weeks and remains utterly convinced he will not only be exonerated but will certainly forge a way back to public life. Certainly he has given the incredibly bullish impression that this will all blow over within a short while, rather than become a protracted issue.”

[From The Sun]

Andrew’s wager is that the Queen still has years to go and she’ll be there to protect him for a while longer. Because we know that the second King Charles becomes a reality, Andrew’s fantasies of a comeback are completely over. Not only that, I think Charles will likely toss Andrew out of Royal Lodge, cut off Andrew’s security and probably send him to Scotland permanently to hide out.

He is so dense and out of touch it really is startling.

    • STRIPE says:

I don’t think he’s out of touch. He’s gotten away with everything so far. He continues to avoid justice. He seems very in touch with the fact that if he just avoids the issue long enough it’ll go away, and sadly he’s probably right.

      • Pao says:

I don’t understand why he’s trying to avoid being served the paperwork. Is that somehow going to stop the lawsuit?

      • Capepopsie says:

@STRIPE I’m afraid you are right, sadly. 😑

      • lanne says:

I don’t think that’s true. It might have been true in 1990 or even in 2000, but every mention of Andrew will be accompanied by “dead rapist pedophile friend” and “Virginia Guiffre”. He is radioactive. No brand will want to work with him. No organization will want him as a patron. What “work” can he possibly do? Who wants to have Andrew attend their festival or unveil their plaques? Andrew is a liability every time he opens his mouth. He’s a joke. He’s cooked. All he can do is retire to the country and go on shooting parties with aristo Turnips discreetly. Also, if he’s welcomed back, it brings the fact that Harry and Meghan were pushed out into even more high relief. It’s bad publicity all around for the royal family, a family that still has to convince the public it’s worth paying for their lifestyle as Brexit continues to cause problems.

Andrew will make a lot of people turn republican. That’s about the only contribution he can make.

      • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

While people like Jimmy Saville got away with it for his entire life, he didn’t have SM dragging on him, or the MSM for that matter. This WILL dog Pedo FOREVER.

As for Royal Lodge, and TOBB supposedly wanting to get his greedy fingers on it, I believe Pedo has a 75 yr lease, and if he dies, the lease goes to Bea and Eugenie. Unless THEY agree to give it up, I don’t believe King Tampon can take it by force. Any Brit CBers know a different British law on this? Or can Tampon put out a Letter of Patent to dissolve the lease?

      • Courtney B says:

@OG Jan the leases are administered by the Crown Estates semi independent board (and incorporated public body) and not the monarch, unlike Grace and Favor residences. I think they’d have to break the lease and I don’t know what the legalities are there. https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1961/55/pdfs/ukpga_19610055_en.pdf

      • (The OG) Jan90067 says:

        Thank you, Courtney!

    • Andrew’s Nemesis says:

And we, the British taxpayers, have to pay for this SOB’s security. Paying to keep a racist safe. I can’t wait to emigrate.

      • Christine says:

How I feel for you. Can you imagine, Archie gets no security, but PedoAndy does? Babies, less important than pedophiles, since 2019.

    • Lorelei says:

I’m just so curious as to why he’s “utterly convinced that he’ll be exonerated.”

None of us know exactly how this will all play out, but I think we can say for sure that it won’t end with Andrew exonerated and back to public life. I wonder if HE even believes that, or if he’s very deep in denial and hopes that if he repeats it enough times, somehow he will make it true?

    • SuSuSusio says:

      Now on Huffington Post:

Prince Andrew has been served with papers for Virginia Giuffre’s lawsuit claiming the British royal sexually assaulted and abused her when she was 17.

A court filing on Friday in Manhattan said that the Duke of York was served ― via a Metropolitan Police Officer on duty ― at his home at Royal Lodge in Windsor on Aug. 27.

  2. Bettyrose says:

“Andrew did WHAT?!” If you know, you know. 🤣🤣🤣

  3. Jane says:

As I just mentioned in the other thread, Andrew is going to be playing a prominent part in the Prince Philip documentary, so why wouldn’t he think he’s on his way back into public life?

  4. Mac says:

Prince Andrew and Matt Gaetz could be fast friends.

  5. Becks1 says:

They are going to keep him locked away during the jubilee. Maybe, mayyyyybe he would be part of one balcony appearance if the entire family is there and he can blend in (i.e. not next to the queen.) BP isn’t going to want to ruin the jubilee by having him associated with it. We know they’re bad at PR and they completely messed up with Harry and Meghan, but someone in the palace (Charles?) knows that having Andrew around is a really bad look and they’re going to keep him quiet at the jubilee.

That said…..the image of him “darting” into the woods to be met by his RPO is kind of hilarious.

    • Amy Bee says:

@Becks: Let’s remember that the Palace which is headed by Charles let Andrew speak to the media after his father’s death. I’d be shocked if Andrew is excluded from the Jubilee.

      • Becks1 says:

True, and that definitely had a “soft re-entry” feel to it, so to speak. But I think the lawsuit from Virginia put an end to that, as well as any potential testimony from Ghislaine. (not even testimony about Andrew, but Andrew’s interview was so focused on how he was friends with Ghislaine, not really Epstein, he was just being a good friend to Ghislaine, etc, that I think information from her trial will be damaging to Andrew just as a result of that. Like being friends with Ghislaine isn’t the out he thought he was.)

I’m not sure he’ll be completely excluded, but they’re definitely going to try to minimize his role as much as possible. No one wants someone shouting “talk to the FBI Andrew!”

      • Lorelei says:

@Amy do we know for sure that Charles let Andrew speak after Philip died, or even knew about until after it happened?

For some reason, I thought Andy just sort of walked on over and spontaneously started talking; that it wasn’t sanctioned by the palace or planned in advance. (But my memory is terrible and I could definitely be wrong!)

    • Livvers says:

I was curious about just how lodge-y this place actually is, and I think it might be the one shown in the 2009 DM article titled “Pictured: The romantic Highland log cabin where Prince William is keeping warm with Kate Middleton”. For me, it definitely adds to the imagery of Andrew sneaking out the back door.

      • Courtney B says:

If that’s Tam-na-Ghar then that’s the property left to William by the Queen mother. It would be quite some bit of juicy gossip if Andrew was staying at his house. It could be the Garden cottage which has one road leading to it. It’s the DM so they probably have homes mixed up.

      • Livvers says:

I think the Garden Cottage is much closer to Balmoral Castle? The one I mention above is Polvier, it’s the right distance away per the article, if that detail is correct.

    • MY3CENTS says:

I have an image of the crowd at the jubilee holding a giant sign that says something along the lines of “No celebration while Andrew the rapist is free” .

  6. Here4Tea says:

He has been found guilty in the court of public opinion and nothing will change that.

  7. HeatherC says:

So King Charles might exile his brother to Scotland. That’s how they perceive Scotland. It’s either a Tartan Disneyland or an exile for people who displease the monarch. What a way to show Scotland you care, British Royal Family!

    • BayTampaBay says:

Would Scotland want Andrew as a permanent resident??? LOL! LOL!

    • Miss Jupitero says:

Ugh! Time for Scottish independence!! Asap!

    • Va Va Kaboom says:

Kind of reminds me how they’re lamenting the damage the Sussexes’ accusations of racism have done to the “special” relationship between the UK and the US. Meanwhile their best defense against the blatant hate thrown at H&M is that it wasn’t because she’s black… it’s because she’s American. Lovely

      • BothSidesNow says:

@ Va Va Kaboom, of course everything that Harry and Meghan have done is the greatest damage bestowed upon The Monarchy! With regards to Pedo Andy, or the Lamebridges, they will never suggest their actions for any potential permanent destruction and reputation of The Monarchy. They have worked extremely hard to ensure that ALL of the fallout regarding the future trade relations, reputation and on-going racist saga, is solely from Harry and Meghan. This includes the relenting emotional and abusive attack on TQ.

    • Ravensdaughter says:

      Tartan Disneyland…that’s brilliant!
Balmoral is a prize by any billionaire’s estimation and Andrew would be lucky to be exiled there. Charles should shove him out on the street, because by the time there is a King Charles, Andrew will be held in contempt of court in the States and there will probably be a warrant for him arrest.
I think the court can rule in absentia, but I’d have to dust off my law cobwebs to determine that. Not enough coffee yet…

      • Jaded says:

They can rule in absentia and if Virginia wins he’s going to have to cough up a lot of money, not taxpayer money either. Then there’s the problem of other trafficked young woman he may have raped. Once they see Virginia’s success they’ll come after him like heat-seeking missiles. This thing has legs.

      • Lorelei says:

@Jaded do you happen to remember when the deadline is for Andrew to respond before they rule in absentia?

@ITA that he should be extremely worried about other victims coming forward, and somehow I doubt he is.

  8. Maria says:

Is it wrong to think there is a bit of throwing the Queen under the bus in these articles? Obviously, she’s guilty of enabling him but it’s unusual to see the emphasis that he’s been with her avoiding being served with her presence being emphasized (I mean, of course she’s never been anything but supportive of him, but the fact they are highlighting that is unusual).

The narrative seems to be “she’s lost the plot”. Certainly almost all of the comments on the article are saying so (whether they are bots or otherwise, lol). Reeks a bit of Charles…

    • BayTampaBay says:

The commentariat of the Daily Fail was VERY ant-Andrew in the Fails’s version of this story.

      • Maria says:

Of course. They aren’t usually targeting the Queen though and they have been in the last few articles.

      • Becks1 says:

I went and read the actual DM article and it is VERY anti-Andrew, talking about damaging his credibility as a royal, with a picture of said cabin and a MAP to the cabin, along with smiling pictures of Charles and Camilla. Yikes. Better watch out Andy, Mummy can only protect you so much….

    • Pao says:

Hhmm. The queen has been used as a shield to deflect from andrew, the latest BLM article as an example. But i also think that they know they can write this because the queens popularity is so solid. I’ve seen very little people actually blame the queen for allowing all of this. I’ve mostly seen comments like “she shouldn’t be put in this predicament” and “she’s his mother”

      • Maria says:

That wasn’t the case with the comments on this one, I can say for sure, lol. Or on the last Daily Mail article about her protecting him.

    • Becks1 says:

I do think there is a bit of that. This particular story had to come from somewhere (IF there is even a grain of truth to it) and someone who wants to protect the queen isn’t going to leak that she was having a private lunch with Andrew at the QM’s favorite bolthole on the estate. It looks like the Queen is helping him hide out and avoid being served. It’s not a good look for her.

  9. Steph says:

This guy is not bright at all.

  10. Eurydice says:

So, how does the DM know about the secret lunch at the remote wooden shelter, deep in the densest forest, accessible only by a narrow dirt road, protected by a sign that reads “Beware of the Leopard”?

  11. fishface says:

Time to relocate the Crown Jewels and put Andypants in the Tower.

  12. Scorpion says:

    🤭🤣😂 Oh the delusions….

  13. Heidi says:

Andrew doesn’t seem to realize that there is a difference between a “scandal” and an actual crime.

    • SarahCS says:

And that is at the heart of all this, he genuinely doesn’t think he did anything wrong and neither do most of those around him.

      • akdash47 says:

He does, though. He knows his behavior was wrong, otherwise he wouldn’t have felt the need to hide and lie. He simply DOESN’T CARE.

  14. Amy Bee says:

I don’t believe Charles will toss out Andrew when he becomes King, he shares the same views as his brother and the Queen. Boy, Charles’s PR really has people believing that he’s an honourable man. This is a guy whose two closest friends were paedophiles and it’s alleged that his father figure and mentor was one too. The British Royal Family doesn’t believe that paedophilia is a crime and the fact they continue to protect Andrew means they (including Charles) don’t believe he did anything wrong.

    • Christine says:

I don’t think he’s an honorable man. I think he’s going to do it to save face in a “look at me!” type moment to cover up all the other crap that’s going on.

    • February-Pisces says:

Charles doesn’t hate Andrew because he’s an nonce he hates him cos he’s his mummy’s favourite. I’m surprised Charles and Andrew didn’t bond over their similar friendship groups, it’s the one thing they have in common. It’s says everything about that family that they consider harry the outcast and not Andrew. Andrew and Charles and now William were brought up to be exactly what the firm wanted them to be. Harry is warm, empathetic and kind and he’s exactly what they didn’t want him to be.

    • Becks1 says:

Yeah Charles’ issue with Andrew isn’t because of Epstein, its just because Charles can’t stand him.

    • SarahLee says:

Oh he’ll toss him, but not because of Epstein. He’ll toss him because he hates his guts.

  15. Ainsley7 says:

So, he’s trying to avoid the ”humiliation” of being served by hiding in the woods? He thinks literally darting into the woods is somehow less embarrassing than being handed papers? Like, I understand he’s genuinely stupid, but surely someone around him can see that it has become a farce. At this point, he should invite the process server in so no one can see and move on.

    • Chrissy says:

Yes, Ainsley1, a total farce. So much so that I picture Andrew running through the woods, looking over his shoulder trying to outrun the process server who’s pursuing him a la The Fugitive. Except that Balmoral is a private property so why would they worry about anyone coming uninvited? If he was a man of honour and truly believed he was innocent of the changes, he would have spoken to the FBI by now. All of this cloak and dagger stuff only makes him look more guilty and The Queen looks complicit.

  16. Over it says:

He looks like a walking jackass.

  17. Talia says:

Charles may want to toss Andrew out of Royal Lodge but Andrew has a long lease ( I think 70 years). It is a significant financial asset and it would literally cost Charles millions to buy him out. There may be restrictions on who he can sell / leave it to but at the very least, Andrew will have the right to leave it to his children.

  18. Sofia says:

This is what they said in 2019. And 2020. And now in 2021. This isn’t going away. Andrew tried to slither in when Philip died and the public reaction was “get that pedo out of here”. He’s not wanted back as a working royal in any capacity by the public.

  19. Lilibetp says:

Really surprise no one has posted, “Sure, Jan,” on this one yet. He’s completely out of touch with reality.

  20. iconoclast59 says:

Besides ducking the process server, I wonder if Pedo Andy is spending so much time with the queen to try and shake her down for a bigger piece of the pie when she shuffles off this mortal coil. I know that the disposition of the queen’s assets is largely codified by law, but she has discretion with some of it, right? I’ll be really curious to see who gets what.

    • Becks1 says:

With the personal property (things that don’t belong to The Crown), she can do whatever she wants. So Buckingham Palace and Windsor belong to the Crown. Sandringham and Balmoral belong to Betty. She has enormous personal wealth, from cash and stocks and that kind of thing to jewelry, horses, art, etc and she can leave it to whomever she wants.

The catch is that there are inheritance taxes on it if she leaves it to anyone BESIDES charles, because there’s an exemption between monarchs. So that’s why its generally assumed she will leave everything to Charles.

I would die though if she left Sandringham or something to Andrew along with enough cash to pay the inheritance tax though. (I know I know, that’s NEVER happening , but imagine the reaction if she did.)

      • iconoclast59 says:

Thanks, Becks1. If everything goes to Charles, it could go either way for Andrew. Charles could cut him off in line with his intention to streamline the monarchy (and his known antipathy toward Andy), or he could keep him nice and comfortable in exchange for his silence.

  21. Becks1 says:

Ha! According to Twitter he was served on August 27 at Royal Lodge via his Met Police officer/head of security. So maybe that’s why he fled to Balmoral, in sheer panic and anger that it happened anyway.

  22. Regina Falangie says:

I read it as: “ Prince Andrew and The Queen held a summit in Balmoral’s most secluded buttholes…”

  23. Mrs. Smith says:

Per the DM, a hearing is set for Monday. Will we hear from Andrew then (via his lawyers)? I honestly can’t recall what the next step is now that he’s been served.

  24. Joanna says:

The arrogance of these spoiled white men never ceases to amaze me

  25. Layla says:

“And a source said he remains “utterly convinced” that he will be able to brush off the claims.” He said calmly after being served lawsuit papers. Honestly this dolt 🙄

  26. Tangerinetree says:

    He’s been served.

  27. Slippers4 life says:

What I worry about is his lawyer is pushing these outlets to hate in Andrew so they can argue because of the media, he can’t get a “fair” trial. Virginia Guiffre must be an incredibly strong person.

  28. SarahLee says:

Update all – he’s been served! I don’t have the details, but I saw an alert come over on Twitter. LOL! Randy Andy couldn’t run forever.

  29. Tiffany :) says:

This is just so gross. The Queen enabling her son escaping justice for crimes against children. Revolting.

I used to be so indifferent to the Monarchy, but after this and Meghan’s treatment…not to mention reflection on what Diana went through, I have to ask “why is the monarchy?” They’re long past having a point.

  30. The Recluse says:

Here’s hoping he relaxes his guard and gets served.

  31. Gail Hirst says:

He was served papers re Virginia’s lawsuit August 27, 2021. I read it in the Cdn news~~~~~~ THIS is what was being deflected!!

  32. Jay says:

So apparently, Andrew’s team is disputing that he was actually “served”, because he insulated himself through layers of privilege and his security team. I saw this on the BBC, and basically he’s demanding that Virginia’s lawyers PROVE that he received the papers. I don’t really understand it, but it’s the lowest and messiest defense possible. Almost like he has no defense for the actual charges…

And then he made a beeline to the hide out in a cabin on his mum’s royal estate. The actions of a very much innocent man, right?

    Story:
    https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-58527909

    • Tessa says:

This makes the royals look bad particularly since Harry and Meghan are continually trashed and she’s being “investigated.” A real group of hypocrites in that family. And the papers deflecting from Andrew with daily media trashing of Harry and Meghan,. Disgraceful.

    • Jaded says:

It’s my understanding that the manner in which the papers were served covered all bases and are considered legal in the US, according to Virginia’s lawyer David Boies. An official process server gave the papers to a police officer at the gate to Royal House. The papers were subsequently emailed to Andrew’s lawyers via Barbara Fontaine, Senior Master of the Queen’s Bench Division. Boies confirmed that they responded confirming receipt. The papers were also emailed to Andrew’s office. Lawyers were sent a response stating “This is an automatic acknowledgment to tell you we have received your email safely.” A copy was also mailed to Royal Lodge, by Royal snail mail.

So in spite of Andrew’s lawyers muddying the waters with legal jabberwocky, it’s just a stalling technique that I believe will further sink Andrew and keep the spotlight on him until Ghislaine Maxwell’s trial starts in November.

  33. Kyliegirl says:

There is a reason why Andrew is listed higher on the Monarchy’s website than Harry and Meghan. There is a door open for him to return. They really can’t get out of their own way. Terrible people. Also, I believe that the “leaked” files for the cash for honors was a little reminder to Charles that he is also not squeaky clean and much can be revealed if needed. BOTH Charles and Andrew run with terrible people and anyone willing to give them money. Charles is just better at PR.

  34. Keri says:

I actually pray, in the name of bad pr gods, that they include Andrew in their celebrations and the whole brf is booed at the balcony. Someone needs to open these people’s eyes.

  35. MangoAngelesque says:

I wonder if he’s broken a sweat with all this darting and running about that he’s doing…
