Stephanie Grisham: Melania Trump refused to tell insurrectionists to back down

Trump returns White House Cutting Short His Vacation

On January 6th, the insurrectionists breached the Capitol at 1:20 pm. There were multiple points of ingress, but that was when the first insurrectionists made into the building, and it was all being shown live on cable news. As everything quickly went to hell, Stephanie Grisham – then the White House senior staff – texted Melania Trump, suggesting that Melania tweet out a message saying everyone has a right to protest, but not violently. Melania texted back “no.” This is the first excerpt from Grisham’s new memoir about her time in the White House, where she moved seamlessly between East Wing and West Wing.

At 1:25 p.m. on Jan. 6, soon after rioters had broken through barricades outside of the Capitol, MELANIA TRUMP received a text message from her then-chief of staff, STEPHANIE GRISHAM.

“Do you want to tweet that peaceful protests are the right of every American, but there is no place for lawlessness and violence?” Grisham asked the first lady. A minute later, Melania replied with a one-word answer: “No.” At that moment, she was at the White House preparing for a photo shoot of a rug she had selected, according to exclusive excerpts of Grisham’s forthcoming book, “I’ll Take Your Questions Now: What I Saw in The Trump White House,” obtained by POLITICO.

Grisham, a years-long Trump loyalist who resigned within hours of that text exchange, also writes that she asked Melania a couple times whether she should reach out to JILL BIDEN during the transition to set up the traditional inauguration tea. But instead of setting up the meeting, Melania told her that they should “see what the West Wing does.” The reason, according to Grisham: Melania, like her husband, believed the election was illegitimate.

A statement provided by the office of Melania Trump said: “The intent behind this book is obvious. It is an attempt to redeem herself after a poor performance as press secretary, failed personal relationships, and unprofessional behavior in the White House. Through mistruth and betrayal, she seeks to gain relevance and money at the expense of Mrs. Trump.” (Her mention of “failed personal relationships” appears likely to be a reference to Grisham’s past relationship with former Trump aide MAX MILLER. Citing three people familiar with the incident, POLITICO Magazine reported in July that the relationship “ended when he pushed her against a wall and slapped her in the face in his Washington apartment after she accused him of cheating on her.” He denied the allegation.)

Grisham joined the Trump campaign in 2015 and, despite her misgivings, remained with the White House until close to the end. She writes that Melania’s response to her text on Jan. 6 “broke” her since she had long defended the first lady against accusations that she was a Marie Antoinette-type dilettante. Now, Grisham writes, she sees Melania like “the doomed French queen. Dismissive. Defeated. Detached.”

[From Politico]

Holy crap, did you catch that? The part about Melania refusing to tweet out a message during the insurrection is completely awful, of course, but the new statement from Melania trashing Grisham??? OMG. “It is an attempt to redeem herself after a poor performance as press secretary, failed personal relationships, and unprofessional behavior…” After Stephanie Grisham was the victim of intimate-partner violence?? And Melania is the pot calling the kettle lazy and incompetent with this crap. I mean, Grisham always sounded incompetent, absolutely. But Melania is one to talk.

Politico also says that Grisham’s memoir will reveal that Melania was totally ride-or-die for her husband’s “rigged election” lies. Melania told Grisham that “something bad happened” and that the results were not legitimate. A publishing source also told Politico that Grisham’s memoir will spill some tea about Jared Kushner. And Grisham plans to reveal some secrets about Donald Trump that even Melania doesn’t know? Like, who he was sexually harassing in the White House?

F all these Trump people making money off the destruction of democracy after fully participating in that destruction.

    Melania Trump: 2016-2020: Dumb ho

    2021: FINISHED dumb ho.

  3. Kiera says:

I find none of this surprising. Actually I take that back. I’m surprised Melania thought the election was rigged cause let’s be honest she wanted out. I’d have thought she was popping champagne when she found out he lost.

Otherwise awesome. Thanks for telling us all things we all knew for the last four years.

  4. MaryContrary says:

Are we really surprised by this? I would think by now the whole “Melania is a victim” thing has been proven wrong. She’s been with him forever, she continues to stay with him, and her only public statements are to trash anyone who makes critical comments about her. She’s just as shallow, self serving and awful as the rest of the Trump crowd.

  5. Chaine says:

My take, we learn that she’s not only mean, but also incredibly dumb.

  6. Amy Bee says:

Why would Melania tweet out a response to January 6 insurrection when this is what she and her husband wanted? Plus Melania’s response to Stephanie Grisham’s revelations show what kind of person she is, a vinditive and cruel person.

  7. CooCooCatchoo says:

The vipers are turning on one another.

    • LillyfromLillooet says:

Yep. I read Stephanie Winston Wolkoff’s memoir and Grisham comes off as a trash human working for trash humans. And Winston herself has a terrible reputation as having dropped all pretense of decency to be by Melania’s side. Wolkoff expected friendship and loyalty in return for what she gave up (she has been shunned in NYC) and got the shock of her life when, knowing she was the one person who was solidly in Melania’s camp, Melania sold her downriver and let Grisham fire her and implicate her in criminal use of funds (she’s innocent). And now Grisham is turning on Melania.

      • Ange says:

I think the biggest shock of any of it is that they’re surprised. What are these leeches missing to not see that the second they’re not useful they’ll be thrown aside and trashed like everyone else before them? Ego and self delusion really can be destructive in the wrong hands.

  8. girl_ninja says:

What a crusty, trashy lot they are. Disgusting.

  9. Sean says:

We also know Gen. Mark Milley made moves behind the scenes to protect our nuclear arsenal from Trump, called China to reassure them we would not attack AND fretted with CIA Director Gina Haspel that we might face a “right-wing coup”. Oh and Dan Quayle of all people had to talk Mike Pence down from siding with Trump.

Good Lord will any of these people ever face actual consequences?

    • Jaded says:

Trump also did an end run around Milley and signed a military order to withdraw all troops from Afghanistan by January 15, 2021 before he left the White House. Nobody on the security team knew about it as it was drafted by a couple of nutbar Trump loyalists. Thankfully it was eventually nullified but Milley had to take any and all necessary precautions to stop Trump in his tracks. Pretty scary stuff.

At this point, anyone supposedly trashing these felons sounds like Charlie Brown’s teacher. Unintelligible. That family has already done the worst things imaginable. And during those four years, that sitting so-called president was extremely successful at yanking the Democratic rug from America and burning it. He is still making the news. He continues to hold rallies and people continue to show up for him. He owns a word…Trumpism. That repulsive crotch stain believes he is and will be presiding over this nation with millions believing in him. Melania standing adjacent to destruction rather than front and center isn’t the problem. It’s half of America believing in that destruction and dancing in the yellow showers emanating from an old, megalomaniac.

    • lanne says:

I’ll be happy when he gives up the ghost…

    • Seraphina says:

Agreed with all you said. It just sheds light on how much we have lost – to be in this situation and he still is relevant. He and his family need to be cancelled.

      • Traveler says:

He and many in his family need to be imprisoned.

      • BothSidesNow says:

Drumpf also created a movement that has created an enormous opportunity for our country to experience an influx of home grown fighters/terrorists that will use every tool at their disposal to retain the ugliness that Drumpf has spewed, created and encouraged for the last 5+ years. We will not be able to live free from harm that we all deserve due to the onslaught of rabid supporters who believe that they ARE to carry the torch that this vile, racist, criminal monster has created and further supports to keep his power and influence over the people to carry on his attack on every American. Our rights and liberty to live freely as every other American has become a target to destroy and suppress no matter the tool to maintain their power and beliefs. There are millions of Americans who have become emboldened to keep their sole rights as the only right that should matter and to hell with everyone else.

    • Golly Gee says:

Wasn’t he supposed to he reinstated as president in August after election fraud was proven according to Q anon? I wonder where the marker has been moved to now.

  11. Here4Tea says:

Not exactly earth-shattering news. I recall seeing Melaniaaaa trotting out the birther lies during some interview years prior to the Drumpf takeover of the GOP ( major misnomer there). She has always been his chief enabler.

  12. Moira's Rose's Garden says:

Why those troglodytes are still on this side of the earth is beyond me. They all need to get the maximum punishment for treason…not only them, but their supporters as well.

Or we should just send them to Afghanistan where it’s anti-vaxx, anti-abortion, women have to stay at home, and guns are abundant.

  13. Lightpurple says:

Melania took her back after that “poor performance as a press secretary.”

    • FancyPants says:

Yes, that’s what I thought but I don’t want to google her name. I thought she was hired for several positions in a row until she decided to resign? If she had such “poor performance” why would they keep her around in so many roles and never terminate her employment?
And why would it matter if Melania tweeted anything? The Capitol terrorists weren’t there on her orders, they weren’t listening to her, it would have meant nothing to them. This whole story is BS and she’s gonna make $$$ from it.

      • Lucy2 says:

That’s what they always do- claim they hire the best, and when it all inevitably turns to shit, they say the people they hired suck. Every single time. Yet no one ever put it back on them “why does everyone you hire end up being terrible at their job? Why can’t you figure out how to hire competent people?”

  14. Lizzie Bathory says:

Melania knows the election wasn’t illegitimate. She just had to stick to the narrative in the hopes that Trump could stay in power, not because she wanted to be first lady, but because the alternative was the grift collapsing. Staying in NYC for months to renegotiate the prenup is a great plan…unless Trump has nothing to pay out for her & Barron.

I have nothing but contempt for Melania, but I’ll say this. She survived the USSR & the escort business. The continued success of both relied/relies upon a lack of transparency or accountability. Trump world was the same. It’s been said that she cried on election night 2016 & not from joy. She knew that once the Trumps were criming in the White House, the whole thing was bound to fall apart.

  15. Bebe says:

Not surprised at all. But it still saddens me that people like Melania eat caviar for breakfast. But I also feel sorry for her, cause no amount of money can buy a soul

  16. psl says:

Who would have listened to her?
She was the most useless First Lady in history.

  17. salmonpuff says:

It’s disgusting that these people held onto this information to sell books nine months after the fact.

  18. WithTheAmerican says:

Melanie is not even a real person, just manufactured and plastic surgeried to look exactly like the woman she’s most jealous of, her husbands grown daughter who has the same plastic surgery from chest to teeth to lips to cheeks.

  19. olliesmom says:

It’s so nice to have a non-hoe, intelligent and kind first lady in the White House again.

  20. Christine says:

Sexually harassing? I wouldn’t be surprised if he were straight up sleeping with someone. Hope Hicks perhaps?

    • Digital Unicorn says:

If the rumours about his health are true am not sure he is capable of ‘it’. Given his past of course he was sexually harassing White House staffers, I think the tea is who is was and what he was doing.

  21. so says:

Gosh seeing those two again makes me sick …
Btw Marie Antoinette was actually a much more decent person that Melania Trump.

  22. jferber says:

WithTheAmerican, I’ll tag onto what you said by remarking that the header picture is not even the “real” Melania. It is the shorter, fatter impostor Melania. Bitch couldn’t be bothered to do a goddamn thing as First Lady: couldn’t even walk with fatso across a lawn. That’s my new definition of lazy: too lazy to walk across a lawn. Dumb as she is, I’d bet money that she knew the election fraud was a fraud and would rather appear as a dumb, loyal wife than a co-conspirator with a traitorous, power-mad would-be dictator. She’s smart enough to know where her bread is buttered (or where her cracker is caviared). The enormous folly, cowardice, cynicism, opportunism and tragedy that took place because of him. As head of the armed forces, he should have been court-martialed and shot. And that’s the damn truth.

  23. The Recluse says:

A shame we can’t revoke Melania’s Einstein visa and boot her and her family out.

  24. Isadora says:

I called it the minute she entered the White House. She isn’t our ally or victim. She married the bloated gasbag willingly because she wants her way any means necessary and if it means supporting the awful ways of her husband so be it. All of his wives have been that way and it is noted that he is on good terms with both his ex wives Ivana and Marla. Both of who have been crazy ass racists, anti vaxx, conspiracy theorists idiots. And while Melanoma has not risen to that level as openly it would not surprise me. He’s certainly has a type.
