Prince Harry has reportedly contacted his mother’s friends for his memoir

Diana's 60th birthday

In July, we learned that Prince Harry had signed a book contract to write his memoir. Page Six claimed, at the time, that the first manuscript was due this month, October, and I got the feeling that when Harry announced the book deal, he had already written a large chunk of it. The book is not supposed to come out until late next year, so of course there will be re-writes and editing and all of that. We also know that he’s working with a ghost-writer, J.R. Moehringer, they’ve already been working together for months now. So with all that in mind, please allow Penny Junor to tell some lies and act like she knows what’s happening in Montecito:

The Royal Family is braced for another devastating attack from Prince Harry — as he personally researches his mother’s life for a new book. Experts also fear he may use the memoir to name the “royal racist”.

Harry, 37, has a £15million advance from publishers. Royal insiders believe he will now be under extreme pressure to identify the family member he alleges made racist remarks about the colour of baby son Archie’s skin.

Harry is understood to have been contacting Princess Diana’s old friends. It had been thought he would leave most of the work to a ghostwriter. Now, Palace sources are “surprised” at how involved he has become. There are concerns his delving into Diana’s life and divorce will paint Prince Charles and Camilla as the bad guys in his book.

Royal expert Penny Junor said: “The publishers are going to want a lot for their money, such as naming this so-called racist. He’s researching his mother’s life so he’s going to be talking about his parents’ marriage, the break up, the affairs. That could be incredibly damaging for his father and Camilla. Charles is going to be king and Camilla his queen. The last thing they or the country needs is another upsurge of anger based on what I believe to be false, false accusations.”

[From The Sun]

It wouldn’t surprise me if Harry had contacted his mother’s friends throughout the process of writing this book, but Junor makes it sound very recent and I don’t believe it was. It was probably just Harry trying to remember certain things from his childhood and contacting his mother’s closest friends to help jog certain memories. Plus, the way we see our parents when we were kids is just different. Maybe he’s genuinely trying to see his mother as a full and flawed person who is still capable of inspiring him. Anyway, Penny Junor is a hateful troll and all of these people are going to be in meltdown mode no matter what. The whole “that could be incredibly damaging for his father and Camilla” thing is Charles’ new talking point. Charles is dreadfully afraid that Harry will do something to “harm” Camilla’s already-pathetic approval numbers.

  1. Millennial says:

The palace trying to gaslight the public about Charles and Camilla is bizarre (ie “false allegations). I remember it very clearly. Diana said herself there were always three in the marriage.

    • Pao says:

Charles admitted it himself. So i don’t know why they want to rewrite the script.

    • Krista says:

I almost spit out my tea reading “false accusations”. Seriously? Charles admitted to the affair on TV for crying out loud.

    • Becks1 says:

Right?? That was such blatant gaslighting I gasped. False allegations my foot.

I think that Charles’ PR campaign for Camilla has been so successful though, that many people do forget just how devastating the affair was to diana and how the marriage never had a chance. And what might be acceptable in the aristocracy (affairs, mistresses etc) is not really acceptable to the general public. That’s the issue with the Crown, with this Spencer movie, with the Diana musical – not that any of them are false, more just that they are reminding people that yes, Charles did cheat on Diana for most of their marriage, and Diana was super young when she got married, and Charles and Camilla really treated her horribly.

It’s making the gaslighting harder and harder.

    • Me says:

Charles admitted to re-starting the affair once the marriage had “irretrievably broken down,” i.e. they were separated in all but name. He has NOT admitted to carrying on the affair throughout their marriage, or the extent to which Diana was abused by him mentally and emotionally. He took terrible advantage of a inexperienced, needy young woman—he knew perfectly well that he was harming her for his own advantage; Diana never got a fair deal from him at ANY point in that marriage. And the firm still has the nerve to act like they were doing her a favor because Charles actually married her.

      • Xoxo says:

This is bullcrap, he was “huffing and puffing” with Camilla on the phone when he was still in a active marriage with Diana. Regardless, he had an emotional affair with Camilla throughout the marriage, that’s just as bad.

    • Tessa says:

He and Camilla met up at the fox hunts. Stephen Barry, then Charles valet, wrote that CHarles would put in calls to Camilla during his honeymoon with DIana.

  2. lanne says:

Yo, Penny, ya ratchet: How can an accusation be false when IT HASNT EVEN BEEN MADE?

She’s Streisanding all over the place, bringing up the “royal racist” (thanks for coining the term, Pen! It’s great, and I’m going to use it as much as I can).

Someone needs to tell this cow that all of us, royal or not, are entitled to tell our own stories. Charles was entitled to tell his after all, right? If not, then Penny Junor should remove all of her books from publication right this minute. I’ll wait.

    • lanne says:

*I took false allegations to mean the “royal racist”: that she’s pre-emptively calling any allegation that would be made false.

      • Amy Too says:

It’s kind of weird how she’s talking about the royal racist, then moves on to Charles and Camilla, and then ends with how revealing the “false, false accusation” (and it sounds like the false accusation is about the royal racist since that is what if constantly referred to as “alleged” in the article) would be so damaging to Charles and Camilla. Is Charles or Camilla the royal racist, then? She ties it all together so much that it seems like she at least thinks it is. Plus there have been all those other articles that came out right after the book was announced that were all about how the RF was worried that he’d talk about the royal racist and also that Charles is super worried that Camilla would look bad in the book. If these are two separate, unrelated things that they’re worried about (royal racist reveal plus how Camilla/Charles will come off) then why are they always tied together in the same article? They’re tied together in the *same paragraph* in this Penny Junor article.

I always thought it was William. Maybe Harry is focusing on something William said and that’s who he’s referring to when he tells the story of the racist conversation, but maybe Charles doesn’t know about that particular conversation so he thinks Harry is talking about some other time when Charles said something racist (but it wasn’t as bad or it didn’t hurt Harry as much so that’s why he’s more thinking about his brother as the surprising racist)? Meghan did say there were multiple conversations.

Is Penny just a horrible writer and she’s not making it clear enough that she thinks the whole Charles, Camilla, Diana affair story is all false accusations?

      • Becks1 says:

@AmyToo it kind of reminds me of the scene in Speed, where the one guy on the bus thinks Keanu Reeves is there for him, so he freaks out and starts shooting etc. But obviously Keanu Reeves is there because of the bomb and the guy just gives himself away by pulling a gun. (we just watched it last week lol.)

So under this theory, Harry means William is the one with “concerns” but Charles and Camilla are panicking and are going to give themselves away for other racist or just plain awful behavior.

I still think it was William though who asked THE question, I just don’t think Camilla would have cared that much what Harry’s child looked like. She has her horses and her wine and her grandkids and I kind of think she doesn’t really care about Harry or William except to the extent they impact her life. So Camilla likely is pretty racist herself, and has probably made some, um, questionable comments in front of Harry and doesn’t want any of those coming out (same for Charles) but that’s not what Harry meant by someone had “concerns” about how dark the baby would be.

      • Heat says:

It sounds to me like Penny does know who the “false” royal racist is/are and is trying to get out ahead of it.
It was pretty clear to me that Charles & Camilla are complete racists after their giggle-fest, watching a performance of Inuit throat-signers, here in Canada.

    • Lorelei says:

@Lanne, was Penny here one of the “experts” who were caught taking £ for their review of the Oprah interview, which NO ONE HAD SEEN? If so, she’s on brand.

      • windyriver says:

Not Penny. Ingrid Seward, Richard Fitzwilliams, both Arbiters, Dickie and Victoria. Could just as easily been Penny or any number of others, they’re all interchangeably predictable and nasty.

    • Charm says:

LOL IKR!….thank you pennydumbass for coining that phrase [royal racist] and for placing it firmly in the shitmediasphere.

    • Tessa says:

Junor admitted that she has a “soft spot” for Charles, during one of her interviews. She and Camilla are friends and they actually vacationed together. Plus Junor indicated that C and C cooperated with her on the book The Duchess (about Camilla to commemorate her 70th birthday and Junor blamed blamed DIana for it all. Junor is heavily biased.

    • PrincessK says:

I have a very low opinion of Penny Junor. Her son was in the same class as Harry at Eton and this woman shockingly stooped so low as to publicly humiliate Harry using information she got from her son.

I came face to face with her in the crowd outside Windsor Castle on the eve of Harry’s wedding and l made sure she noticed the cold stare l gave her.

  3. Merricat says:

That bit about them being surprised that Harry was “so involved” with the telling of his life story–that’s what a memoir is, you effwits.

The publishers are not paying to find out who the “royal racist” is, since it’s pretty apparent by now that they are ALL royal racists. Note to interested parties: if you want to be remembered fondly in someone’s autobiography, don’t be a jerk to them.

    • North of Boston says:

Reminds me of the masthead line from a local weekly newspaper I used to read, something like:

“If you don’t want to read about it in here, don’t let it happen.”

If you don’t want someone telling on you saying racist stuff, don’t say racist stuff!

      • Charm says:

I also believe that H might name some names of RotaRats and be very specific the in his retelling of incidents such that they cannot be denied. And the rats are quaking in their boots.

    • Becks1 says:

Also, though, how would they know how involved Harry is? No one at the publisher’s or on Harry’s team etc is talking to anyone at the palace. The MOST I’ll buy is that some RRs have heard that he is talking to his mother’s friends, but my guess is that it’s more about a different perspective or making sure he remembers some things correctly etc.

      • Merricat says:

I think it’s their passive-aggressive attempt to slight Harry’s writing ability, frankly, because they never miss an opportunity to swipe at him. The implication that he would hire someone else to write his memoirs for him is a weirdly “royal” idea.

  4. ModeratelyWealthy says:

“Experts also fear he may use the memoir to name the “royal racist”.”

While they dare not say no such happened, they put quotes on royal racist as if Harry was too stupid and misunderstood. Mind you, they already tried this angle and it did not land.

“Now, Palace sources are “surprised” at how involved he has become. There are concerns his delving into Diana’s life and divorce will paint Prince Charles and Camilla as the bad guys in his book.”

They are so used to people just happily coming in and taking credit for other´s work that every time someone actually WORKS they are surprised!

Newsflash: Charles and Camila WERE THE BAD GUYS.

“Charles is going to be king and Camilla his queen. The last thing they or the country needs is another upsurge of anger based on what I believe to be false, false accusations.”

Double negative ( false/false) means a positive, Penny- but fear not, Chaz will send you a check.

    • Pao says:

The thing is that things could quite literally not get any worse for charles. He already extremely disliked and it will not get any better. And i find it mind boggling that she thinks she would know better than harry what are false accusations.

And about the royal racist: i wish he WOULD name him.

      • Moderatelywealthy says:

Harry probably should hold the name as a bargaining chip IMO because the safety of his family is at stake. There would be the unhinged white supremacists coming after him for daring , not to forget that Charles is an extremely petty person himself and William is just one step away from becoming a certified super villain.

      • Lorelei says:

@Moderately that is in excellent point. It’s worth more to the Sussexes as leverage.

IDK why they’re so terrified of Harry naming anyone, because the worldwide consensus at the time was “it could be any of them since they’re all inbred racists,” and THAT is what should be worrisome to them, not anything said in this one book.

This constant barrage of sh!t aimed at the Sussexes exhausts me just READING about it; I cannot even begin to imagine how frustrated Harry gets.

These halfwits clearly don’t understand the role of a ghostwriter when it comes to celebrity memoirs, yet have no problem spouting out their opinions. (Has the British population — well, the ones who pay attention to the RF at all — forgotten that half a dozen people took £ to blatantly lie and give their “reviews” 🙄 of the Oprah interview before it even freaking aired?!) So PERHAPS don’t automatically believe anything that any of them say?

The fact that it’s being marketed as a “memoir,” not an “authorized biography,” should be enough to give them a clue that Harry’s actually very involved and writing a lot of it himself, but then again, royalists and the “experts” who constantly blow sunshine up the royals’ asses are dim, sanctimonious liars, so we need to keep our expectations low.

If Harry talks truthfully about Charles and Camilla, he won’t be “painting” them as anything; C&C WERE the “bad guys” in that situation. And the public hasn’t forgotten, despite Charles spending god knows how much taxpayer £ on the “Let’s make Camilla palatable to the public” campaign.

I guess that since Charles is such an inbred dipsh!t, it simply hasn’t occurred to him that the mere fact that this campaign was needed to make this woman palatable in the first place is because he and Camilla are in fact trash and it was *their own behavior* that makes them the bad guys, not the person writing about it. No, blaming Harry is their go-to position and always has been.

      • JT says:

I don’t know, even if Harry did drop the name of the royal racist would the British public even care? Right off the bat the BM would censor the comment and then they would just call Harry a liar like they’ve been doing. It seems like nobody cares that the royals are racists, hell their base might even grow. It’s not like the royal family hasn’t been leaning into the right wing agenda these past few years. The Brits can’t or won’t get rid of the monarchy, so it’ll just be another thing they are just to apathetic to deal care about.

      • Lorelei says:

@Pao I’m kind of laughing because while your first sentence *seems* true, things are actually going to get a lot worse for Charles before they get any better.

In a matter of a few months, The Crown will air its next season, Tina Brown’s book will be published, that movie “Spencer” (which seems to be getting great reviews?) will be released, and Harry’s memoir will come out. So things can and will get a lot worse for Charles, even though it seems impossible to believe it now.

@JT it’s incredible. They will claim, simultaneously, that 1) the rumor about the skin color isn’t true, and in the same breath, make it known that 2) they’re worried about Harry naming the person…who doesn’t exist if #1 is true. 🤯 They are too stupid to live.

      • Dee Kay says:

I agree with @Lorelei, things *are* going to get worse for Charles, soon. Gen Z just began to find out about how Charles treated Diana with the last season of The Crown, wait until they get a load of the next part of the story.

Anyone caping for Charles like this idiot reporter are in for a rough time. But I also think anyone caping for William — while they have it easier for the next couple of years than Charles supporters — have long, hard slog ahead of them. For all of Charles’ many many personality defects, William seems even worse. Charles is capable of “masking,” i.e., being polite, charming, smart, funny in situations where he must perform. William is not capable of this type of performance at all. So even though people *want* to like William more than Charles, they have no idea that William is a much more terrible representative of an institution than Charles is, he will be a truly reprehensible figurehead and “front man.”

However, if all William has to do to be thought of as better than his father is not divorce Kate, then he will never divorce her. The sad thing is that even though he will never leave her, he may not be treating her better in private than Charles treated Diana. It’s a very sad, emotionally dysfunctional and broken family by and large, with only a handful of emotionally healthy exceptions.

      • Lorelei says:

@Dee Kay, it does seem that a portion of the population is fine with their money supporting these expensively-dressed welfare recipients, with their only standard for the position being “just don’t be a cheating piece of sh!t to your wife.” And William can’t even clear THAT bar! Unreal.

  5. Snuffles says:

It is understood….according to the magical gnome that lives up every royal reporters ass…the Harry/Meghan are doing [insert bullshit here].

  6. Pao says:

Anybody else find it curious that they keep bringing up camilla?

Last time i checked Harry not Meghan mentioned her publicly. It was always about charles and william. Idk what the tactic is here. And penny knows f*ck all about what harry does.

    • Alexandria says:

Tactic is to throw Camilla under the bus since her reputation is less pristine than KKKate. They can’t attack Kate directly bcos they need the narrative of Kate the Great vs Meghan does everything wrong, to write nonsense and lies.

    • molly says:

I thought the same thing. You know Charles is a mess when he’s using Camilla as a shield. Who knew the day would come when SHE’S scandal-free and marginally better liked than the future king?

      • Tessa says:

I don’t think Camilla is scandal free, neither is Charles. Some just don’t like them both.

      • SnoodleDumpling says:

Well, they’re never going to pin it on an heir or the monarch, so Queenie was always out even before Gayle ruled her out, and so are Charles and William.

Pinning it on Kate would also be bad, as they clearly are desperate to not attach any negative press to her and she is going to be a major royal figure in the future for a very long time as a future monarch’s wife and a future monarch’s mother.

That just leaves Prince Philip, who was specifically ruled out along with the Queen, and Camilla, who is mostly a press non-entity, won’t be sticking around as a major royal figure too long, and already has mixed public sentiments towards her.

While they have tried to push others in the more extended family before it simply hasn’t resonated with enough people as believable and so hasn’t stuck to any of them.

  7. Eurydice says:

I love how “surprised” the palace rats are with Harry’s involvement. I guess they’re used to W&K’s approach in letting everyone else do the work.

    • Pao says:

They are telling on themselves here because she just admitted that everytime she and her other royal rota colleagues write a book none of it is based on facts and actual experiences and feelings of their subjects. Since they don’t participate.

Actually let me rephrase that: every time they write about harry and meghan none of it is based on facts because harry and meghan don’t participate. I 100% believe that the palace machinery contacts these demons to get a certain narrative out.

    • Lorelei says:

@Eurydice, the only thing I’m “surprised” about is that Penny said that instead of using their favorite old standard “blindsided.”
Since apparently her crystal ball is fully functioning today.

  8. jazzbaby1 says:

News flash, Penny: Fred and Gladys ARE the bad guys. Pure trash, those two.

  9. Lauren says:

What false allegations about Charles and Camilla? Charles cheated on Diana with Camilla, Charles publicly acknowledge this. I get it that they are trying to rewrite history and gaslight Diana’s memory, but nope. Not this bit.

  10. Harla says:

I find that when you live your life with integrity, ethics and kindness you seldom have to worry about what others might say about you.

  11. yokoohno says:

No one does gaslighting quite like the brits…

  12. Jessie Quinton says:

Why would they be surprised that he is doing research for HIS MEMOIR? Is it because none of them have done a day of actual work in their lives?

Equally, why are Charles and Camilla trying to gaslight us as if we didn’t know the story? We have eyes and ears, the interviews are considered historical archives, FFS.

    • Jay says:

There’s a narrative among a lot of these “royal experts” that Harry is some barely literate frat boy, and they are desperate for it to be true.

      • Merricat says:

They can’t bear it that Harry is not just well liked, but deeply respected by leaders around the globe.

      • Lorelei says:

@Merricat, we’ve all said for a while that both the family and the press have always underestimated Harry— you would *think* that he’d proven them wrong over the past year, but unbelievably, they still treat him as the dim, drunken, partying teenager that he was many lives ago (and imo he was never “dim,” he had untreated dyslexia so his grades might have suffered, but he is clearly a very intelligent person. The rest of the world can see it, but these people are still stuck in, like, 2005.

What will it take for them to learn that he is NOT in fact dim, and that they should really stop messing with him?!

    • Lorelei says:

@Jesse, it’s because most of what they write is fiction. (Not even said with snark! It’s the literal truth.)

Contacting subjects or sources to make sure they’re getting all of the facts correct before anything goes to print is genuinely not a concept they’re familiar with.

  13. Lucylee says:

Now the narrative is slowly shifting. First, “recollections may differ.”Next, TOB declared they are “very much not a racist family.” They no longer deny what was said and are worried he will name the “royal racist.”
Oh, the tangled web created as they continue to deceive and mislead.

  14. Amy Bee says:

The Palace fears that the Royal racist would be outed only confirm that Harry and Meghan are telling the truth. The surprise that Harry is allegedly heavily involved in the book makes absolutely no sense. It’s his memoir, the ghostwriter is coming in to give the book structure, assist Harry in collecting his memories of events and to help him to express himself. Whether he has spoken to his mother’s friends about her is mere speculation at this point. But it wouldn’t surprise me if he did.

  15. Margaret says:

Absolutely the talking points is that whatever harry writes it will be a lie. However I think they are starting that line to soon.
While building big anticipation for the book, so the haters can tear it apart, and fans expect a good honest read. Count me in the latter.
On a different subject why no discussion on the queen being booed in Scotland over the weekend after opening their parliament.

    • SarahCS says:

To your final point, it’s because everything is fine, just fine, it’s FINE I TELL YOU.

Or at least that’s the governments position (and therefore the line most of the media take) on our slowly crumbling country. Who needs fuel and products in the shops? Apparently not us Brits.

    • Lorelei says:

@Margaret my favorite part of all this is that they continue to trash on Harry and Meghan on a daily basis, purposely antagonizing Harry, when you’d think any sane person would STFU as the person they’re trashing is working on a memoir as we type these comments; a memoir that will inevitably discuss the British media, because they really have been instrumental in shaping Harry and his worldview.

I don’t think any of Harry’s intentions are malicious, but they just keep poking him and Meghan with some asinine new headline and insult daily, and he’s only human; the angrier they make him, the higher the chances are that he will want to set the record straight and that they will come off negatively in his book (more negatively than they already will).

      • MipMip says:

Lorelei- I think that the reason the BM and RF continue to drag Harry is not functional, it’s abusive. They know Harry is writing the memoir but they think these constant “reminders” in the media may make him think twice about what he includes.

It reminds me of a friend of mine. Years ago she was engaged to an abusive jerk from another country. She managed to get away from him and he went back home but for ten years he would randomly send her emails that just said “I’m still here.”

While it seems like BM/RF are just short-sighted and banging their heads against the wall, this is their way of saying “I’m still here”.

ETA- I don’t think these threats will work on Harry- he’s done with them and he is determined- but abusers abuse.

      • Lorelei says:

@MipMip, that story about your friend is insane! I feel so sorry for her; he sounds beyond creepy. Jesus

It’s funny that we each suggested what the motive behind their constant abuse (and ita with you, it’s definitely abuse) might be, and our conclusions are totally different but both plausible? I still think they’re too impulsive and ignorant to realize that their actions now —antagonizing Harry as much as possible because they’re still seething over the fact that he left (with his wife and baby; the horror!) — could end up making Harry angrier, resulting in them looking even worse in the book. BUT I also totally agree with you that it could be a deliberate strategy on their part; an effort to both discredit him and scare him into being easier on them (implying, I guess, that if he doesn’t get the message, their abuse will only worsen? How is that even possible?? What horrendous thing have they not already printed about him?). But they’re not…the brightest bunch, so I think that regardless of their reason for this continuing vitriol, it will end up backfiring.

I don’t think this kind of nonsense will work on Harry anymore, though, and idk how they can’t see it. He’s made it more than clear that he’s done with the media’s games.
William is still Wooten’s little b!tch, but it’s been obvious for a while that Harry has moved on. But the ROTA and all of the “experts” still seem stuck in the denial stage re: Sussexit, so it probably hasn’t fully hit them that he’s no longer scared of what they might write. They’ve already said some of the cruelest things imaginable about both him and Meghan, but he got through it and came out on the other side, all out of fcks to give about what they think or say, so either way they’re making things worse for themselves.

  16. Nicki says:

All it take to harm Camilla and Charles’ image is to tell the truth about the shameful and callous way they behaved in gaslighting Diana.

  17. Well Wisher says:

The Duke of Sussex is writing a memoir. “A memoir is how one remembers one’s life, while an autobiography is history, requiring research, dates, facts double-checked”
Palimpsest: A Memoir, Gore Vidal 1995.

It is honestly trying to tell the truth even if one’s memory plays tricks on one: and requires two elements necessary in a good creative nonfiction.
The first element is about the art – the integrity of intent. It is about trying to make sense of who we are, who we once were, what values and heritage shaped us. It is about the quest and journey of which can nourish the readers – bringing along many associations with the quest of their own, ( proper implementation denotes a noble idea).
The second element of craft speaks directly to construction by – creation of text and imposing narritive order. This is where a ghost writer gets to ply his craft
(Notes from Zinsser on Art and Craft of Memoir).
A good journalist will know what a memoir is and is not. Junor is paid as one, so it would be remiss that she will not be aware of the difference of creative nonfiction and history. It is either she is woefully misinformed or she has chosen quite deliberately to misinform and/or trigger the public.
She, like most of the people following this saga is aware who the ‘royal racist’ is, can this be a deliberate attempt to ‘trigger’ this individual to tell on himself by a premature attack on the Sussexes?

    • Lorelei says:

@WellWisher, very well said— although you could have stopped after “a good journalist” because most of these people are not legitimate journalists, and none of them are good.

  18. Jay says:

And if he didn’t get in touch with people in the know, you can bet your bottom dollar the usual rats would be all over him for not using sources/ making stuff up, or having a ghostwriter do all the work – you can tell they are mad to have to delete their pre-written articles implying Harry is illiterate or incapable of telling his own story.

This is what you do when you want to check your recollections – you try to confirm! It’s what good reporters do, so I’m not surprised dear Penny is confused by it.

When do you think they’ll get it that people will buy this book because they are interested in Harry, not because they are looking for 30 year old tea about Charles and Camilla? And isn’t it interesting that Camilla’s name is popping up so often in paragraphs adjacent to revealing the “royal racist”? Huh. I wonder what connects those two things for Penny. People who have something to worry about always, always tell on themselves, don’t they?

  19. Elizabeth Kerri Mahon says:

I feel as Penny Junor is afraid that because Harry has inside knowledge, his book is going to contradict her book on Camilla, which was written to boost the Duchess of Cornwall’s popularity. Although even Junor couldn’t whitewash their affair in her biography.

  20. Over it says:

So who should have been heavily involved in researching and writing Harry memoir about Harry if not Harry? Should he have asked penny to tell him what color pjs he wore to bed when he was 10?
If Harry names the royal racists, that’s like an entire chapter. Cause you know they are all racist

  21. Rapunzel says:

It’s very telling these royal reporters keep harping how “the publisher will want It’s money’s worth”– this is their tit for tat, invisible contract enforcing mindset projecting.

Harry’s memoir doesn’t need a scandalous revelation to be a best seller. The publisher is already guaranteed a hit and big profit. And the royal reporters are likely Streisand effecting this into the best selling memoir of all time.

As for Harry contacting Diana’s friends, it may just be he’s recounting a childhood event and wants to know if said friend prefers to remain anonymous. Harry seems polite enough to do that.

    • Lorelei says:

@Rapunzel, great point— it never occurred to these bottom feeders that it really might be that simple: that Harry just wants to know if they’d prefer anonymity. That’s it.

They prefer to believe that no matter what Harry does, there’s some nefarious motive behind it, and automatically jump to the worst conclusion about him. Which might have worked a long time ago on a certain segment of Brits, but is laughable now that the world has seen Harry in action over the past couple of years (and which is also such obvious projection of their own mindsets).

    • MrsRobinson says:

A dear friend of mine died tragically when her sons were quite young. I would so welcome sharing my memories of her with them when they’re older if they’re interested. Nothing nefarious in him reaching out to her friends—it also might be part of his dealing with the past and moving forward with a different understanding of her.

  22. L4Frimaire says:

Snippets of information are bound to come out about this book and the writing/research process. Junor can speculate about the book but will have to wait snd see like the rest of us. Who Harry talks to while writing this will certainly be interesting. I’m sure a lot of people his mother knew would love to talk to him but this is Harry’s memoir, not his mother’s. The publisher better have its fact checkers lined up because every sentence he writes will be picked apart and scrutinized.

  23. Catherine says:

It was the SUN that claimed that Harry was desperately contacting of friends because he regretted his decision to leave and was asking for advice on how to make up with William. This is a made up story to try to ramp up outrage against Harry. I think his memoir is going to be focused on his feelings that’s not something he needs to research. And the only people close to Diana that he would trust would not be talking to palace insiders/sources. It’s become clear that palave sources are adept at lying and spreading rumors but they don’t have any information about the Sussexes since they left.

  24. WithTheAmerican says:

    Dear Penny,

This thing called “research” is what is done when telling the truth.

    You’re welcome now go away!
