Norway’s Princess Martha is engaged to her longtime shaman Durek Verrett

In 2019, Norway’s Princess Martha fell in love with an American shaman. First, Martha was Shaman Durek Verrett’s client and then they began dating. They went on a shaman love tour and she seemed very happy. Shaman Durek’s clientele seems to be full of celebrities and wealthy elites, and I suspect that poor people don’t have a need for his shaman services. In any case, they’ve been together for more than three years. Now they’re engaged. Martha was basically kicked out of the Norwegian royal family several years ago, so it’s not like her title will be affected or anything like that.

He made a lengthy statement on his Instagram, saying in part: “When you know you know. There is nothing better than having clarity as a man that the woman that stands in front of you is the one.” He called Princess Martha “the most pure hearted, angelic, wise, powerhouse woman who represents all levels of a goddess in my eyes.” I agree, her vibe is very pure-hearted. She seems like a woman searching for spirituality and meaning everywhere. In Princess Martha’s IG post, she describes Shaman Durek as “the one who makes my heart skip, the one who sees me and acknowledges me from my highest potential, who makes me laugh and who I can be vulnerable with. Love transcends and makes us grow.” Okay.

Shaman Durek proposed with an emerald-and-diamond ring. According to People Magazine, he spent six months designing the ring with Joy Sangaland Smith of Communion. He specifically wanted an emerald because that’s the favorite stone of Martha’s mother, Queen Sonja. Per People:

“The emerald sits within a halo of 19 Diamonds, with four trillion-cut diamonds surrounding the face of the ring, each representing the four elements –— earth, air, water and fire. It has 12 additional diamonds around the shield-shaped face of the ring, designed to protect their sacred bond against negativity, and three additional diamonds on either side of the ring to represent Princess Martha’s three daughters.

The infinity detailing on either side of the ring is representative of the Nordic symbolism representing the intertwining of two beings, and the love knot carved beneath the underside of the ring symbolizes their union.

I actually like that he put a lot of thought into the ring and what it symbolized. She probably loved that and loved hearing him explain the meaning. That being said, I dislike the ring! It’s just too big and chunky for my taste but everyone is different. Anyway, good luck to these two crazy kids.

That ring is god awful. Emeralds are a very soft stone, definitely not a good every day ring. Best of luck to the happy couple!

    • BW says:

As a princess, I doubt she cleans her own house, does the dishes, cooks, or chops wood for the stove. The stone is probably hard enough for lounging around and helping with shaman stuff, whatever that is.

  2. FHMom says:

So, what exactly is it that he does? The profession of shaman sounds shady AF.

    • Fredegunda says:

He tells people that they can cure their cancer with positive thoughts, and says that he can manipulate atoms to reduce the ravages of aging. He made himself very unpopular in Norway when he claimed that cancer was brought on by the patients themselves, even if they were children.

      • Every single new age/self help/self-improvement/shaman/guru has the SAME. EXACT. GRIFT. From Marianne Williamson with her “your thoughts cause aids”
( And thanks Rupaul for supporting this kind of shit thinking too in your podcasts and books) to Keith Psycho Ranieries NXIVM, & scietnolgy & Osho & Ramtha, & on and on- they ALL preach you are responsible for your own thoughts, and thoughts can cause molecular changes like water is affected by thought ( What the bleep is responsible for even MORE of that stupidity) and god it’s awful. If you get sick you just haven’t followed the teachings enough. Its such a scam and keeps people stuck in a loop of constantly seeing approval and enlightenment that cn never truly be attained.. They don’t want you to atainit so they can keep you in the loop. You thoughts will never be right or enough.

I despise this guy and feel sorry for the woman who is falling for his con.

He also says that if women ‘have too many sex partners’ he can ‘remove’ the ‘imprints (physical and spiritual)’ in their vaginas and make them pure again. He is a disgusting pig and she’s a complete idiot.

Especially when it’s just to rich people.

  3. HandforthParish says:

Shame he put so much thought into that ring design, she’s now stuck with that horror on her finger… Looks a bit light for an emerald too.

I didn’t realise they were soft stones though. Emerald is very popular as an engagement ring stone in Europe.

    • ChewieNYC says:

They are. Our jeweler had to convince my husband to not have them in his wedding band because of how likely they were to be damaged during every day use.

    • Fredegunda says:

I’d wish I’d known it was a soft stone. My godfather made me an emerald ring and I wore it every day but it got a big chip in it because I’m not the most graceful/careful person 🙁

  4. K says:

Well good luck kids. I ❤️ emeralds

  5. Nikki says:

I’d take that ring in a HEARTBEAT; I think it’s gorgeous!!

  6. Nlopez says:

Good luck to them! They seem happy. They were on Tamron Hall show a few months ago.

  7. girl_ninja says:

That ring is unfortunate, hopefully they’re happy together.

    • BothSidesNow says:

      Agreed @ girl_ninja!

Though he sounds like a snake oil salesman. I hate people that use these holistic approach to cancer. There are people that no longer have their nose or some part of the body due to massive push of black salve. It promises to “kill” the cancer, yet it just destroys all of the tissue it is placed on.

Though I also despise people that will blatantly refuse care for their children due to religion as well. I am such a judgmental bitch. Though I think that it has to do with my DIL, whose family is a bunch of MAGATS. They are drinking dandelion tea to fight off the coronavirus. 🙄

I assumed they were going to get married after 5 minutes of dating, so three years is shockingly normal. They had to have spent some regular people time together during the pandemic, so maybe they’ll work after all.

  9. Mimi says:

They seem to genuinely like each other and he has been particularly maligned for the relationship, so I hope they both are happy and can enjoy life together.

  10. smegmoria says:

Ok…. so nobody steal it, (I mean you totally can) black opal center, surrounded by solid dark green jade.

  11. jferber says:

I read the story. She was not actually kicked out, but decided not to use her title of Princess in business enterprises with her shaman. There were discussions and she agreed to it and apologized for not having done so before. It’s wacky, yes, but if she loves him, why not?

  12. Amanda says:

He’s really handsome. That’s the only good thing I have to say.

  13. Bisynaptic says:

For a second, there, I thought she was dating Ru Paul. Good-looking couple. The woo-woo is a huge red flag.

    • notasugarhere says:

As is his ex-boyfriend who has gone on record about Durek being a complete fraud.
