Amy Schumer calls Hilaria Baldwin a ‘sociopath’ who lied about being ‘from Espana’

Amy Schumer was one small part of one of the best gossip stories during the pandemic. It all started in the final days of 2020, when Hilaria Baldwin was doing what she always does: pose for social media photos in lingerie whilst doing provocative yoga poses. Amy Schumer then trolled Hilaria about the photos, and Hilaria responded with an Instagram video about how people are so mean to her about how hot she is. What was funny about Hilaria’s video is that she dropped her fake “Spanish accent” at the time, and afterwards, people started doing a deeper dive into Hilaria’s years of lies about how she’s “from Spain” and how she’s faked a Spanish accent this whole time. Well, more than two years later, Schumer is making jokes about Hilaria in her new Netflix stand-up special, Amy Schumer: Emergency Contact.

“Do you guys know who Hilaria Baldwin is?” Schumer asks coyly. “I’m saying it wrong. I’m sorry,” she says, adopting a Spanish accent. “Hilaria Baldwin. I just can’t wrap my head around this story.”

Schumer says she met Hilaria “years ago,” backstage at “Saturday Night Live,” where Hilaria told Schumer she was “’from España,’ (with) a very thick Spanish accent.”

“They have a von Trapp amount of children, and they named them all – I’m not sure, but very Spanish names like Jamón, Croqueta and Flamenco,” Schumer continues. “And all of this would be fine and beautiful, except that ‘Hilaria from España’ is actually Hillary from Boston. This woman is in no way Spanish. Her parents are not from Spain. No one in her life is from Spain. You’re going, ‘What?!’ Did you think I was just doing a really racist Spanish impression?

“So, I’m not trying to bully a sociopath. I have a point, OK?” Schumer continues. “I think what had happened was she went to Spain. And I’ve been lucky enough to go to Spain. Some of you have been. It’s great, right? Don’t you love it? I loved it, too. But Hillary from Boston … loooved it!” Schumer reverts to the Spanish accent before declaring “I am going to be from it!”

“My point is that all evidence points to this woman, since she met her husband, has straight up pretended to be from Spain,” Schumer says in her special. “And her husband shot someone.” Schumer’s point: Neither cares about the other’s transgressions in their marriage, so “find someone who can stand you.”

[From USA Today]

So I think the part about Hilaria’s baby names is kind of gross – Spanish names are lovely – but yes, Hilaria did give her children Spanish names to keep up her con about being “from Spain.” Like, y’all know I’m not an Amy Schumer fan, but I’m totally fine with people ripping into Hilaria and I think it’s legitimately bonkers that Hilaria is still doing it too. Remember that video of Hilaria giving an impromptu press conference on the street in January of this year? Remember how she randomly shouted “ven aquí!” and attempted a Mexican accent (as opposed to a Spanish accent)? Yeah. Hilaria does deserve to be called out.

She’s also made an ‘industry’ out of her bounce back post pregnancy body, but there are a lot of people who believe she used a surrogate for almost all her children. Including wearing tiny lacy panties for a photo shoot days after apparently going through labor.

And the extreme video/photo editing. And the weird overly sexual breast feeding photos. I swear Alec must have a breast feeding fetish or something. It’s all SO weird.

Check Ireland Baldwins post pregnancy insta for subtle shade.

    • Queen Meghan’s Hand says:

You KNOW Amy Schumer wants to say this but she can’t. Once it was pointed out to me, i couldn’t unsee it. I can’t imagine how obvious it is to a person who has been pregnant.

After Carmen, Hilaria’s face never changed during her next five or six pregnancies.

  2. Renae says:

I have no idea of who this Hilaria is….but this story sounds hilarious.
    (I’m out…)

  3. The Hench says:

Hilaria Baldwin is quite clearly batshit crazy. I simply do not understand how Alec Baldwin, having discovered that the whole “from Spain “thing was a total lie, not only stayed married to her but had more children with her. How do you maintain a relationship with somebody after they’ve pulled something like that on you?

    • Brassy Rebel says:

Maybe he stays with her because he’s batsh*t crazy too. Just a thought. As Schumer points out, he has his flaws too.

      • Eggbert says:

Alec is crazy in his own right. Remember when he walked around NYC wearing a sheet ghost style because of the paps or something. Google Alec Baldwin wears sheet

    • Rnot says:

      Sunk cost fallacy

    • Jennifer says:

He doesn’t care? She’s hot? Child support?

    • C aitlin says:

Discovered !? Alec knew she wasn’t Spanish when he met her completely American blue blooded family at their wedding probably before. Alec is a crazy narcissist too. He liked the image if himself having a young ” Exotic” wife. Alec was in on it and kept the ruse going look at his past interviews about bragging his Spanish wife.

This is hysterical. Amy is truth bombing us. She also said she tried Ozempic but got really sick and had to stop. She called out the celebs denying using Ozempic to lose weight. I’ve become a fan in recent years.

    • Debbie says:

Amy Shumer “tried” Ozempic? She “tried” it? Are you kidding me? If she’s so upfront about someone else’s foibles, then she should be equally upfront about hers. Don’t you have to be prescribed Ozempic? How can one just “try” it, like it’s chocolate versus vanilla flavor?

      • Sara says:

Eh – this isn’t that crazy. My husband needed to lose weight and was considered “pre-diabetic” and his doctor asked if he wanted to try it. And we are just normals.

      • Alice says:

You get a doctor to prescribe it, try taking it, realize it isn’t for you? I’ve had this happen with other meds.

      • Sandra says:

People trial medications all the time. Shoot even getting blood pressure medications balanced out can take a lot of trial.

This is not unusual at all. She also tried fillers and it didn’t work out. I worry a lot about ozempic bringing back the 90’s super thin trend. I think that trend messed with the minds of a few generations in terms of look and health.

      • Jaded says:

I’ve tried a few prescription medications that didn’t agree with me and stopped right away. Nothing wrong with how she phrased it.

      • SamuelWhiskers says:

I’m not in America so maybe it’s different there, but I know tons of people who have bought it online really easily just to give it a try, or because they want to lose 10lbs or something. If random regular Europeans can access it that easily, I can’t imagine a Hollywood movie star would struggle. Besides aren’t doctors in LA infamous for giving out pills like a Pez dispenser? I’m sure there must be tons of doctors in LA making extra money on the side writing weight loss pill prescriptions to anyone who wants one.

      • Colleen says:

My husband “tried” Ozempic too. He was prescribed it, took it for 2 months, said it made him foggy and tired and stopped. That is how you try Ozempic. Not sure how this is confusing?

      • Aurelia says:

Amy is clinically obese and may well have glucose issues. She would have been legit prescribed it.

  5. wordnerd says:

WAIT! I totally missed the bit about her giving a press conference with her insane fake accent and shouting in Spanish. Get TF out of here Hilary. Does she talk to Alec in her accent? Her parents? I can’t believe she’s still keeping up with this charade.

I’m lukewarm on Amy Schumer, but I’m thoroughly enjoying her commentary on Ozempic. If she had stayed on it and lost tons of weight, she would’ve openly talked about that too. I appreciate her cutting through the BS that (cough cough) Mindy Kaling is spewing about portion size and swimsuit lines.

    • GorgeousGecko says:

It was completely bonkers…and it seems she did it so Alec could sneak out of the building without the paps asking him about how he killed someone. She literally walks down the block yelling for everyone to follow her..says nonsense…..then promptly walks back and gets in the car.

  6. Concern Fae says:

I had a roommate who lied to a dude she met in a bar. Turns out she liked him, so she kept it up for the two years they dated. We all had to call her by her fake name when he was around. We thought it was hilarious. She was deeply nuts in other ways. My brother has always used a story about her in his security training sessions. Jaws drop.

The oldest of us was 23. We all agreed that we’d blow the situation up if it looked to become more than the fairly ridiculous, dysfunctional first boyfriend out of college situation.

So the Hilaria Baldwin situation is something that does happen. But holy, shite, you don’t let it get this far. Good on Amy for calling it out.

    • Emily says:

I need to know more about this friend. What was the lie? Did he ever find out? Is it why they broke up?

I can’t imagine committing to something untrue for years.

    • tolly says:

Hilaria doesn’t seem like the type of woman who has a lot of female friends, and Alec doesn’t seem like the type of man who would notice or care. They’re well-matched that way.

    • Sandra says:

Please, please update with details about how this situation unfolded for a non-famous person.

  7. girl_ninja says:

Amy Schumer is a racist and jerk. All this praise for her truth telling is hilarious. All this is just white girl on white girl abuse.

    • Ravensdaughter says:

I don’t know her well enough to say she’s racist, but I’d definitely call her out for being a jerk.

This story has been around for a long time, and the fact that Amy is picking it up now PLUS throwing in the comment, “and her husband shot someone” is in very poor taste.

The “Rust” shooting was horrible for everyone involved, and it should not be fodder for jokes, ever.

      • Nikki says:

Her telling the whole story about how crazy Hilaria is, yet her hubby’s fine with it, was to circle back around to her previous discussion of marriage, and her assertion “You just need to find someone who can STAND you!” Then she added about Alec, “And he shot someone, and she’s fine with it!” I don’t think that crossed any line; watch it and see if you do.

      • Coco says:

        @ Ravensdaughter

If I’m not wrong what girl_ninja is talking about is Amy making racist jokes and dating a man who did black face and the excuse she used was something like she/he is Jewish and they can’t be racist.

  8. ariel says:

I sometimes enjoy Amy Schumer’s humor- and sometimes not so much.
But i watched the special last night and really laughed through most of it.

And i do enjoy that she calls out this crazy Hillary Baldwin story- it is crazy- to go on a national morning show for a cooking segment and pretend you don’t remember an english word- that is commitment – because she was born and raised in BOSTON.
And i like Amy’s larger point on that- find someone who can stand you.

    • TQ says:

I also watched Amy’s special last night. While I’m not an Amy fan at all, I had to see the Hilaria clowning — and it did not disappoint! I found Amy’s comedy in this special actually tolerable. Of course that doesn’t negate all the terrible things Amy’s said over the years as others reference above. But in this instance, clowning Hilaria was very enjoyable.

  9. Selene says:

how horrible is it that I dislike Hilaria less than Amy?

  10. LaurenAPMT says:

I tore- badly- during both of my kids’ births. No way was I wearing anything other than a glorified adult diaper for a solid month afterwards.

    • Nikki says:

I thought it was HILARIOUS when Amy said the doctor at her son’s birth seriously emphasized she should NOT HAVE SEX FOR AT LEAST SIX WEEKS after the birth. She’d been badly nauseated the entire pregnancy, and had just been cut open for a C section. She was like: “How about six YEARS?!”

  11. Lovely says:

Sooo, I remember the subreddit so vividly! It gave us so many laughs while in lockdown, waiting on a batch of bread to rise! I’m not up to speed on Amy, but Hilaria deserves this and more! I still can’t understand why she’s still pretending to be Spanish, it boggles the mind!

  12. Bee says:

My question is, why cover Amy if you don’t like her? Let Peridot or Hecate or Carina do it. All the writers here are very good. So why cover someone you find inherently irritating?

That said, this story is hilarious. Everything about Hilaria is hilarious.

  13. Vi says:

To piggyback on @girl_ninja Amy could also be considered racist because she steals jokes from black comedians. She stole Patrice(male) rip whole act. I think she may have eventual help or paid him. But yeah. Why just single out black comics to steal from.

  14. Rastafarian says:

Yeah, I bet she married that guy. She probably claimed the made up name she used to sound interesting was a nickname her friends used. Once he bought that, she probably knew he’d put up with her crazy, or that he was too clueless to notice it!

  15. Gelya says:

I don’t like Amy’s comedy. This one made me laugh. There is no way fake Hilaria bounced back from all her births so quickly. I bounced back super fast when I gave birth because I was a twenty years old and was a dancer. I have a feeling all those children are from surrogates. This woman is so fake Alec would have been better off marrying an AI. I can’t stand liars. Plus one for Amy calling her out.
