Guess who is incandescent with rage about the Sussexes’ big NATO meeting?

Fun fact: the US and NATO have a huge number of military personnel stationed in Germany. Like, I’m sure Germany wanted to host the Invictus Games because the games are amazing and host cities see a boon in tourism and international exposure, but this year’s Dusseldorf games are spectacularly convenient for a lot of American military families living in Germany (the US military still maintains 40 bases in Germany), as well as the NATO personnel stationed in Ulm. Still, it’s notable that the NATO Joint Force Commander General Guglielmo Miglietta not only made a point of coming to Invictus, he also brought a NATO delegation of 1100 personnel, military family members and students. That’s what the big event was on Thursday – the Duke and Duchess of Sussex did a photo-op and meeting with General Miglietta and some NATO officials, and Gen. Miglietta also made a point of meeting with some of the Invictus competitors. Well, guess who is incandescent with rage that Harry met with NATO high command?

Harry and Meghan’s appearance with NATO chiefs in Germany today has stolen a march on Prince William in a personal PR battle between the two brothers and their wives, an expert told MailOnline today. The Prince of Wales will travel to New York next week to step up his role as a global statesman. He will meet United Nations leaders and launch his £50million Earthshot Prize, which is now in its third year.

William is increasingly popular in the US and his trip has generated a lot of interest across the Atlantic, with all major TV networks bidding for interviews. But amid claims by veterans at Harry’s Invictus Games that they felt ‘caught up in the royal crossfire’ between him and his family, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex met NATO Joint Force Commander General Luigi Miglietta today. The couple held hands and smiled while surrounded by the NATO chiefs and their families, including a large Italian and Dutch armed forces contingent, during the royal-style engagement in Dusseldorf.

Brand and culture expert Nick Ede said the Sussexes’ decision to pose with NATO chiefs could be a ‘powerplay’ in the PR battle between the princes and their spouses. He said: ‘Harry and Meghan know that this is a really good time to shine their lights on both the lnvictus Games but other power players too. There will always be a power play between the two brothers and their wives as they are the most famous pairs on the planet so all eyes will be on them. With William meeting the UN chiefs next week the brothers have covered some of the most important and powerful people on the planet. For both of them this is positive PR but also inevitably raise eyebrows as to where they will be going next’.

[From The Daily Mail]

LOL. The Windsors live in their own little world. What was Harry supposed to do with the NATO Joint Force Commander wanted to bring a 1100-person delegation to Invictus? Was Harry supposed to say “no thanks, my brother is going to make an ass out of himself at the UN next week, I can’t.” What’s also hilarious about William FUMING about his big New York trip is that the only reason why William is demanding to do something at the UN is because… Harry was invited to speak at the UN. William had zero interest in anything UN-related before Harry spoke on Mandela Day. Now William is going to barge into NATO’s Brussels headquarters and throw a tantrum until he gets to meet a NATO general too. The British royals – especially William – can’t help but telegraph their jealousy and pettiness at every turn.

You have to be a special kinda awful to think this is even about you William. Seriously. Does he have to center himself on literally everything? This is about the families – always has been. If you’re not gonna say anything kind, stay out of the way of the families and veterans at least – I can’t imagine the troops you play-command think this is classy in the least way. And I also SERIOUSLY doubt that combat veterans are saying that they’re “caught in the crossfire”. They know what true cross-fire is and wouldn’t toss around the term for a tantrum from a grown man.

    • Flowerlake says:

It’s so direspectful to the veterans to make this about William somehow.
This is about them and not the Windsors. Good point about crossfire.

Also, hope you guys are all following the Invictus Games accounts on Instagram, Twitter etc. The more support, the better, and there are many great photos.

      • acha says:

        Completely agree!

As if William expects the entire Invictus Games to change their (set well in advance) date because he decided to justify his existence by going to New York next week.

Also his Earthshot bs is racist to the core (didn’t William straight up tell the people of Africa that they had too many children?) and I hope it flops enormously.

    • Ash says:

Yes, William always centers himself. He’s a jealous, bald, angry man.

    • Hanna says:

Well said. The king and queen of England rather support American idol than supporting the Invictus game, so sad.

    • Michelle says:

Will’s behavior is legit scary. He acts like a child, he has no impulse control. Rushing to brief the media about the IG NATO meeting? Not the actions of a well person. In addition to his upbringing, his actions make me wonder about his childhood head injury.

      • Sugarhere says:

Wait until Bratty Billy comes back from New York, wakes up jetlagged to the reality that his little UN ass-wriggling dance got zero coverage. He’s gonna combust.

I hope the staff will be allowed to evacuate the premises.

    • Debbie says:

And how the heck do you view the Invictus Games, which required a lot of logistical planning for a long time, as a “PR battle between two brothers.” I thought it was supposed to be about the competitors, how is William inserting himself into this, and then trying to reduce it to mere “PR”? I never fought in wars but even I know that. I don’t get it.

    • Wannabefarmer says:

Love, love, love your penultimate sentence @nutella toast. (We need ‘like’ buttons around here, yes?)

    • QuiteContrary says:

I couldn’t agree more, nutella toast, about the use of terms like “crossfire” and, the other day, “torpedoed.” It’s grotesque.

We’re talking about military veterans who have been wounded in combat. The rota needs to learn some respect.

And, like I said before, Harry and Meghan are serious people who do substantive work, so other serious people are going to want to meet them. Of course, NATO would want to have a presence at the Invictus Games.

    • PunkPrincessPhD says:

I think the crossfire comment was attributed to one of the former members of Invictus team GB, referring to the Royal Family’s refusal to acknowledge the games and wish the team well. It was mentioned in a previous post here, but more in the context of, “We just want this to be about the athletes, we don’t deserve to be used as fodder in a one-sided fight.” So this article definitely takes that and tries to spin it as “Harry and Meghan’s NATO meeting put IG athletes in the crossfire”🙄

That was my read, anyway – as always, open to correction if my recollection isn’t accurate.

    • aquarius64 says:

William just looks messy and immature. One heartbeat away from being head of state. SMH.

      • Lorelei says:

One heartbeat away from being Head of State…and Head of the Church, and having no laws apply to him (not that they really do now), having even more protection — both literally and figuratively — than he does currently, the list goes on and on. The US is a dumpster fire with its own issues for sure, but at the very least, there is a free press covering the POTUS and reporting critically on him.

    • Agreatreckoning says:

++@nutella toast. ‘crossfire’ isn’t a word war vets/vets use loosely. Apparently it’s the norm for the British Media to use triggering words. No matter how it might effect veterans in the UK.
(should it be affect and not effect?)

    • HennyO says:

With all the millions of taxpayers money since birth and his 60 low-ego unskilled staff, Willy has not been able to make 1% of the global impacts that little brother Prince Harry has made on people around the globe. Nobody is interested in Willy, everybody of influence wants to meet and invite Prince Harry, because he is respected for what he is able to achieve without even trying too hard.

Stop the one-sided compatation Willy, and start doing the work. One day you might get rewarded for that.

  2. Missskitttin says:

They are definitely incandescent but also delusional. “William then overshadowed Harry’s Invictus launch by releasing a film of an unprecedented hour-long conversation between himself, Kate, and aunt Anne for a popular sports podcast “.
As if….! How can a rancid dusty podcast overshadow the success of the Invictus game and the genuine love the world has for H&M?

    • equality says:

Since it was a podcast, a film seemed sort of useless and redundant. Plus it was too boring to compete with anything.

    • Kingston says:

Apparently, those cretins think that because the britshidtmedia colluded wth the leftovers in palaces to black-out any reporting from IG’s opening ceremony, that means bully-boy’s sad little appearance on that struggle podcast won, don’t u know!
      L. M. F. A. O.

    • Carmen says:

The Evening Standard is reporting that “The Prince and Princess of Wales is searching for a chief executive officer. Recruitment firm Odgers Berndtson has been instructed to find the best candidate.”

It goes on to say that the ideal candidate will have “emotional intelligence” ad a “low ego”.

WTF does that even mean? Are they looking for a doormat who can deal with Willy’s incandescent rages while protecting Kate from the fallout from her own stupidity?

      The mind boggles.

      • Wannabefarmer says:

I read this yesterday; my assumption was, someone who can take their abuse and smile while doing so, not get upset in the face of it. Or, maybe someone to teach them about EI since they have none?

      • Lady D says:

There is an article about it in yesterday’s posts. The comments are really funny.

      • BeanieBean says:

And all the papers got it wrong! I read the actual job posting–easy enough to find online. They’re looking for a COO, who will report directly to the Principal Private Secretary of TRH blah blah blah. And yes, ‘low ego’. !!! That person will also be responsible for providing or arranging (can’t remember the wording) ‘pastoral care’. Not sure what that’s about!

      • Lorelei says:

@BeanieBean, wait, WHAT? “Pastoral care?” What on god’s green earth could that possibly mean (in this context)!?

      • Becks1 says:

It sounds like they want someone to coddle William and Kate.

      • Agreatreckoning says:

@BeanieBean, ‘pastoral care’, sounds like an advertisement to babysit the Wank”

  3. Anna says:

Harry and Meghan are clearly playing in bigger leagues than William can ever hope to. A NATO delegation went to IG because they saw it as a worthy cause to get involved with: impactful, necessary and needed. Harry provided that platform and nurtured that environment, and people rightly want to get involved with it.

These are depths William refuses to dive into, let alone stick a toe in when it requires more work and dedication than a photo op. William doesn’t have the empathy or compassion to see others as anything more than props for his ego.

    • Missskitttin says:

The only interaction W&K are trained to do is ribbon cutting and photo ops. They can’t compete with real life emotions and smart initiatives that actually deliver solutions.

    • Kathleen Williams says:

So now the Sussexes meeting with NATO chiefs is being described as a “royal-style engagement in Dusseldorf”. These people are certifiable. Their arrogance knows no bounds. By calling it royal style, they are desperate to grab a little glory for the Wails’.

  4. Harla A Brazen Hussy says:

I honestly believe that when Harry is planning any of his projects, especially regarding Invictus projects, he doesn’t give one, single thought about William, what William is/isn’t doing or how William might react. Harry’s been there, done that and is now wayyyy past that. William is fighting a one sided battle that he’ll never win.

    • Brassy Rebel says:

William’s tantrum was so predictable. And the assertion that there is some sort of PR battle between the brothers is another delusion. The PR battle is very one sided as it all resides in William’s pointy head.

This Nick Ede character seems to be their go-to expert lately.

    • ArtHistorian says:

Spare revealed a very interesting side of William. How, despite him being the coddled heir, is deeply jealous of Harry, long before Meghan ever entered the scene. At this point he is just as pathological in his jealousy as his father is. And when the royal system is set up as a competition about headlines as the be and end all of royal “work”, Charles and William’s jealousy (and most likely feelings of inadequacy) will never end because their smear campaign made Harry and Meghan into superstars (beyond their own natural charms).

  5. North of Boston says:

“William is increasingly popular in the US”

    Oh, really? Says who?

    • TigerMcQueen says:

Also the “generated a lot of buzz” and “all the major networks” wanting interviews. I giggled. In Will’s fever dreams maybe.

      • equality says:

That part could be true, but it’s likely more related to wanting to ask his feelings about PH and his book than it is to be about interest in PW.

      • Sue E Generis says:

I think the major networks are eager to get ‘William’s side’ of the brothers’ fallout. It would be huge. I’m guessing when William’s people realized the only thing US media was interested in asking about was Harry, they spun it as William turning them down even though they were all desperate to get him.

      • Brassy Rebel says:

Yes, Equality. American networks totally want to talk about William’s reaction to Harry’s book and doc. They don’t give a 💩 about 🌍💩.

      • Kathleen Williams says:

The major networks are not anxious to interview Willy and they know it, They are just saving face by saying he would only speak to UK networks which will report anything he wants. That way, when the US networks ignore him, he can claim that he snubbed them.

      • BQM says:

I do think major networks would love to interview him. That abc report on Andrew got scuttled to preserve access. And now there’s this huge (one sided) feud. I think people would watch. But only that kind of interview.

      • MelodyM says:

I thought I read somewhere that he wouldn’t be giving interviews….because he didn’t want to be asked any questions about Harry, Spare, etc.

    • Ash says:

      Says the polls he commissioned

    • Jais says:

Says Camilla Tominey, probably. Whilst she simultaneously claims the Sussexes reputation is on the decline🙄

    • Mrs. Smith says:

W’s NYC trip has generated a lot of interest…um, no? I literally have not heard one word about it outside of this site. I otherwise would have no idea he was coming here because there has been zero press coverage about it. It might pop up the day he arrives and that’s it.

Also, if he won’t sit down for an interview or answer interview questions, then he’s not news worthy. They will show a photo of him getting out of a car and waving. End of story.

    • Becks1 says:

If anything, I think William’s popularity is dropping in the US – yes in part due to Spare, but also just because he’s boring. If I can look at pictures of Harry at Invictus or William in the woods, one of those is going to be a lot more interesting.

    • Carmen says:

Increasingly popular where? Not in Southern California, where I live. And if I remember right, he and Kate got booed in a Celtics games in Boston.

    • Lorelei says:

Do any of you guys listen to the “Daily Fail” podcast co-hosted by Kristen Meinzer? If not, I highly recommend that you go subscribe because it is HYSTERICAL.

They never name the publication for legal reasons, but that just makes it funnier for some reason since everyone knows exactly what they’re talking about.

Each week they pick apart three of the most ridiculous headlines, and in this week’s episode, which just dropped last night, one of them was,

“A survey UNVEILS that Prince William is the best, hottest, smartest and most popular boy”

Then they tore it apart— including all of the wonky capitalization, punctuation and grammar issues, and…it’s just too, too funny.

IDK if I can put a link through, but I’ll try. If it doesn’t work, just do a search for the Daily Fail and it will be the first result. It’s very short with no ads, but makes me laugh every week!

    • Whyforthelovek says:

Right North of Boston? How many Americans even know who he is? Unfortunately I know….and I don’t like him one bit. True story, I and in the store the other day and flinched at seeing the word incandescent on some bulbs. Peggy has ruined entire words for me!

      • BeanieBean says:

You can still find incandescent bulbs???

      • “How many Americans even know who he is?”

Funny but true story: most of my family knows that I’ve always been heavily interested in pop culture/celebrity gossip/etc, so I had a lot of them texting me when news broke of the Queen’s death, because they figured I would “have all the info” lol. During these conversations, I was surprised to learn that, not only did the majority of them barely know who William is, but my dad was actually under the impression that Harry was the next in line to be king, but gave up his crown to marry an American and move here! He thought that was the reason why “everyone was acting so crazy” regarding the whole H&M saga!! 🤣

    • VoominVava says:

“William is increasingly popular in the US”

      Oh, really? Says who? ”

TRULY! It’s like they just write these articles for the 4 people in castles who are reading them with their morning beans on toast.

Oh and Kaiser, “no thanks, my brother is going to make an ass out of himself at the UN next week, I can’t.” is PURE GOLD LMAO

    • Agreatreckoning says:

@North of Boston, the peeps polled at the Heritage Foundation of course! Vile Gardiner & friends. I can honestly say, in my 56 years on this earth, that I’ve never encountered anyone that has claimed William to be popular than Harry. Okay,, I take that back a bit. When Will had hairs & a personality/ a hundred years ago He’s the guy people used to know that also happens to be? Princess Diana’s son.

  6. Jan says:

Last time Cain was at the UN, it was in a room Bloomberg rented, when I see pictures of him, with the Secretary General of the UN, I know it will not be about climate change.
Why would the British Media think Americans/New Yorker love the Wailes?

    • Missskitttin says:

Great Britain are not a superpower or even a power. There won’t be anyone knocking on that door

      • Sue E Generis says:

That Chinese representative in an interview on UK media said it best. UK is no longer a player on the world stage. They’ve fallen way behind in every way and the real power players can’t be arsed about them. They’ve been left in the dust.

      • Wannabefarmer says:

        @Sue E. Generis

I was writing about that interview on here yesterday. OMG, that man slapped down that journalist in a way that I’m sure caused permanent damage. There is no doubt that was a wake up call b/c it seems to me that this lot is truly delusional about their ‘power’ and they have equally created a deluded population. Two of their biggest mistakes, brexit and running H&M out.

  7. Southern Fried says:

IF true, the only reason anyone wants an interview with Willy it’s to ask about Harry and Meghan. I can see Gayle King wanting to witness what a snobby twat Willy is in real life. I suppose though that the palace would beforehand want guarantees no questions about Harry allowed.

  8. nutella toast says:

Re: Annita I’m Brazilian and it’s almost weird if you haven’t gotten plastic surgery (my aunts question why I haven’t done the usual “maintenance” after having my son). I believe Brazil has the highest percentage of people getting plastic surgery in the world. It’s not the shameful thing it is in the U.S. – it’s just taking care of yourself (I haven’t had any, but I get it).

  9. Maxine Branch says:

I was impressed with the NATO Commander’s presence and the large constituency he bought with him. Did not know we still had 40 bases in Germany. NATO’s presence is their way of supporting the Veterans and to show support for Germany hosting the Invictus games. The gutter press and their gutter reporters are chopping at the bit with this imaginary feud William has been supporting. The interesting thing to me is because of how quietly the Sussexes live many do not have any idea of who, what, where or how they are meeting with prominent folks or organizations because they just live their lives without all the noise from the gutter UK press.

Try as they might all William is mostly know in America for is being Harry’s brother. Many do not keep up with the going on in that family. William as a statesman is a joke, a really bad one. The reputation he has just from Harry’s book has forever tainted him.

    • Harla A Brazen Hussy says:

As an American, I think that when you say “William” to most people here, they think of teenage Wills, Diana’s handsome son, but they probably wouldn’t recognize him today as a 40 year old dad of 3.

      • Eurydice says:

And if you google “Prince William” half the responses are for Prince William County in Maryland.

      • Ang says:

Yes, Prince William county is in Virginia, and I deal with it all the time. I’m always typing it and chuckling to myself. A lot of MD/VA area names are from British royalty.

    • bluhare says:

The official NATO Twitter account has been tweeting about the games all week. I did a double take when I saw it.

    • BQM says:

We don’t still have 40 bases. We have 40 *installations* many attached to bases. That included storage depots, barracks, etc. And many are scheduled to close, continuing the process started in the 90s. (220 installations and bases have closed since then) We have 21 bases currently.

My hubby was stationed at Mannheim AB 1999-2002 and we loved it. It wasn’t very large but even it had several installations attached. A base like ramstein would have a lot.

  10. s808 says:

    “Increasingly popular in the US”

William and his people are a very delusional bunch. Someone lied to him several times.

The only reason W is bothering with the UN is to try and be on equal footing with H so yeah I can see why he’d be pissed about NATO showing a lot of interest in IG.

    • Cassie says:

Oh dear lord whoever wrote that crap would have to be embarrassed surely .

Harry and Meghan have shown this week they are global superstars, everyone wants a piece of them .

William is just an empty vessel .
Harry has all the good genes in that family .

      • vpd4 says:

I wish they were embarrassed, so they would stop writing all of this crap. They don’t care. I think that’s what gets me the most.

    • nutella toast says:

@s808 Yeah, I laughed at that too. Wonder if Trump and Wills share the same executive staff…”Yes sir, your polls are sky high. Really. People love every single thing you do. You are a truly aggrieved victim and everyone knows how unfair your life is”.

      • Sue E Generis says:

They exemplify the phrase, ‘A legend in their own minds’.

      • EveV says:

        @nutella toast
Thank you for the laugh and spot on!

And yes, I had to laugh at the part that said William is more popular than ever in America and his trip has generated a ton of buzz. I also have not heard one word about his trip outside of this site, so I’m gonna have to disagree with that sentiment.
I still can’t get over the fact that they think ignoring Britian’s veterans is some kind of power play that makes them look good! That legit makes me sick and shows what their priorities are. And no, there is no ongoing PR feud between the princes and their wives. A one-sided feud maybe, but that’s it.
Also, agree with the great point a commenter made above that veterans that have gone to war would never say they are caught in a cross fire when talking about a family squabble. Do these people not realize how awful they sound?!

    • Debbie says:

Yeah, the word “increasingly” is doing major manual labor there. Lot of work.

  11. Ginger says:

William will forever play catch up with his younger brother. Harry did it first, William. Harry is the one that people request, not you.

  12. Mslove says:

Pegs is trying so hard to be a global statesman, lol. Maybe Chuck will give him a shiny new medal with “global statesman” engraved on it. That will show Harry!

    • Tessa says:

William alienated his only sibling he is so not a statesman.

    • Becks1 says:

Yeah, its one of those things where if you keep insisting you’re a global statesman, you’re not.

But that said, William meeting the secretary general of the UN isnt going to the “victory” over Harry he thinks it is. William plays a different role – he is the future head of state for the UK – of course someone like the sec-gen is going to meet with him if his team requests a meeting with enough notice. Is it going to be a significant meeting? No, its going to be a photo op, like Joe Biden did with him.

When these people – like the Joint Force Commander of NATO – meet with Harry, its because he IS a global statesman and they WANT to meet with him (and Meghan.) They WANT to be associated with him and it has nothing to do with his place in the line of succession for the british throne. It’s because of what HE created for veterans.

      • ArtHistorian says:

You can not be a global statesman when your constitutional role is ceremonial.

      • kirk says:

Art Historian – You really nailed it on Willy’s “role as a global statesman.” When your power hasn’t come from the people through voting, or by getting appointments from people who have been duly elected, I suppose you could fall back on the role of being ordained by God to rule over The Empire that exalts all the superior beings @ BRFCo.

      • ArtHistorian says:

@kirk – except the King of the United Kingdom doesn’t rule (i.e. govern), he reigns (i.e. ceremonial HoS). And while the BRF does meddle in legislation through the outmoded King’s Consent, they aren’t allowed to be visibly political. They do some constitutional rituals, the King meets with the PM and the act as hosts for foreign HoS when they visit in an official capacity. Sometimes do they do a rare State Visit on behalf of the actual government. The tours of Commonwealth countries is just pure colonial BS.

      • Christine says:

        WORD, ArtHistorian!

  13. SussexWatcher says:

When the PR battle you keep shouting about is completely in your own head…and you’re STILL losing, it may be time to see a therapist. When you’re incandescent with rage at anything and everything, see a therapist. When you’re literally copying everything your brother (or Kkkeen, your sister-in-law) do or wear, see a therapist. When you’re the literal next king of the UK and you’re too busy being obsessed with your younger brother that you drove out of the family, see a therapist.

The hard-hatted Penis with Teeth is quite possibly the stupidest man in England. These over the top articles about winning a one-sided “battle” (again with the violent language) just make PwT look like a complete loser. It’s actually kind of hilarious to see that he’s incapable of learning or trying a new strategy. He seems to think that stomping your feet or sending friends (or ex-“friends” of Meghan’s) to leak to the press will change reality. Again, see a therapist.

    • EveV says:

I screamed! You are so right

    • Lexistential says:

Therapy would be useless for someone like William, who would also demand a therapist acquiesce to him, his status, his narrative, and his tantrums. Whomever provides any kind of treatment is gonna have one hell of an ego to get through to achieve any type of cognitive impact.

      • Wannabefarmer says:

Well, whose that psychiatrist? the bald guy on tv, dr phil? Maybe he could take a shot at it?

      • Lady D says:

I seriously doubt that William would ever unload to a therapist. The trust that would be required before he could open up is off the charts. I don’t believe he would/could ever trust anyone that much. Anyone.

      • Jaded says:

@Lexistential — Hard agree. Malignant narcissism cannot be cured by therapy. Narcs are manipulative and sly by nature and never allow themselves to be analyzed so they create a tissue of lies to support their side, play mind games, and generally evade any accountability for their unethical behaviour. They’ll throw anyone under the bus to escape blame. Combine that with his arrogance and anger, most therapists would throw their hands up in frustration and dip.

    • Sugarhere says:

So obv NATO and the UN have common goals but they’re still two different organizations right? How is this a power play ? Harry had a meeting with NATO and William’s going to the UN. So? The BM continues to be so utterly embarrassing. How is this even an article in an adult newspaper? Is William actually briefing about his rage or is the BM just assuming he’s incandescent based on what they know about him? Either way, it’s cringe.

  16. Tracy Lord says:

There’s a part in the Count of Monte Cristo movie (not sure if it’s in the book, too) where Fernando dispassionately but sincerely tells Edmond: I’m not supposed to be jealous of you. Before he ruins his entire life.

This is William. He’s not supposed to be jealous of Harry. He’s probably thought Harry was jealous of him his entire life. He’s the center of “everything” in that kingdom.

Now that the power has clearly shifted, and has for some time, William doesn’t know what to do. Having tantrums probably gave him his way for *years*. Being angry probably did. The deference was expected and downright engrained. But it’s not working. Not even close to working anymore and he doesn’t know what to do. I don’t see how he’ll ever get over it.

    • L84Tea says:

Excellent analysis. William is such a sad, screwed up figure, partly due to the people around him his entire life who enabled him and partly his own loathsome self. I’m convinced he will be spitting into the wind for the rest of his life.

    • Bettyrose says:

Unearned privilege is a terrifying thing. There’s a reason the BRF is historically very murdery towards blood relations. Poor William has centuries of inbred proclivities toward fratricide coursing through his blood and this darn modern world won’t stand for it.

      • SarahCS says:

        ‘very murdery’

I just snorted my tea. Thank you!

I also agree with your point.

      • Wannabefarmer says:

LOL! All these comedians on here!

      • sunny says:

Truly this- in the good old days he would just disappear him or start a war and send him off to the most dangerous place. The whole royal system has coddled him, told him he is the centre of the world, never challenged his faults, no wonder he is a terrible adult and a garbage human being.

But TOB ‘s total lack of emotional regulation is terrifying. He is so jealous it is creepy, pathetic, sad, but it is also hilarious. Like, I know i shouldn’t laugh but he is so desperate that it is peak comedy.

      • ArtHistorian says:

I think that is not a coincidence that the most successful monarchs in recent English history were not raised as the heir. George V was the spare and became King because his dissolute and useless older brother died young. George VI became King because his dissolute and useless older brother abdicated. Elizabeth II didn’t get the upbringing as an heir would because she was female.

      • BQM says:

@arthistorian I would disagree Elizabeth didn’t get the education as a female. It was more that her parents didn’t really care about education in general. Queen Mary, her grandmother who was very well educated and intellectually curious, tried with Elizabeth and Margaret but their parents just didn’t support it. But not because of her gender. Same with George V (Mary’s hubby) and his siblings. Their parents were just against structured, serious education.

      • aftershocks says:

^^ True @BQM. Also, it was not known that Princess Elizabeth would inherit the throne until she was 10 years old. Even then, her old-fashioned parents still did not see the importance of educating Elizabeth, forget about Margaret. Biographies have stated that government leaders were appalled when they found out Princess Elizabeth (by age 13) had not received a formal education. At that point, the government stepped in to help teach Elizabeth about British constitutional history, etc. Margaret was not included in these tutoring sessions.

    • Snuffles says:

All true. I would also argue it’s not just William, it’s Charles, the entire royal institution and the British media who believe/d they are/were the the center of the Universe, that they drive the narrative and generally control everything. They’ve lost the plot, lost control and they don’t know what to do with themselves.

    • s808 says:

He’ll never be able to cope and worse, he won’t channel his frustration into being better. He’ll just continue to fight for unearned deference. A waste of a platform and life.

    • Lorelei says:

ITA with @L84Tea, it is a great analysis. And I don’t think he’ll ever get over it, either. Ever.

Also, @Tracy Lord, love your screen name! I was just listening to a book about Katharine the other night.

      • Tracy Lord says:

Thank you, everyone! That quote came to mind only recently. I also think about how it’s becoming clearer and clearer now the palace machinery and press have played into wills being Diana’s golden boy for years. He even has her blue eyes and had her blonde hair. He’s piggy backed off of her good will and legacy.

Imagine how much faster the facade of the monarchy would shatter if more people saw that Will isn’t Diana’s boy. He’s Charles/The Firm. Harry though? Harry is her. Between his disposition to actually help people to his star quality. His warmth. Then of course there’s Meg who matches his energy. They are so well suited to this work and even with the sustained efforts to muddy their reputation it’s clearly not working. Even his desire and maneuvering to break free from The Firm.

It’s why the institution has pushed back and abused H and M so hard. Diana’s legacy was supposed to always be Williams to co opt. Even in death, Diana’s star quality is something to be exploited and even in death the palace misunderstands Diana and her legacy but is happy to leverage it to prop up the firm.

I think we will continue to see the press and the monarchy carry William’s water and attack Harry. Both between William’s refusal to accept he isn’t the center of Harry’s life anymore and also because it’s a legit crisis if the public understands just how ill equipped their king is. I don’t know how it’s going to shake out. But I hope Meg and Harry keep doing what they’re doing and pay the British media for dust and let W tantrum his way through his years as PoW.

      • Tracy Lord says:

Thanks Lorelei! I am such a Kate fan. The Philadelphia Story is among my favorite movies and she’s my very favorite Golden Age star. I even have a framed autograph of hers my husband gifted me for our first Christmas together. Enjoy that book! 🙂

      • aftershocks says:

Hi @Tracy Lord! I believe Diana had strawberry blond hair, which she further lightened as an adult.

William kinda physically resembled Diana (but no longer). As a teenager and into his 20s, William was over-adulated for his looks, as much as for his royal status. When Diana died, sadly, a lot of the love and adoration people felt for her was transferred to William, purely based on his looks, and on being the oldest of her two boys, and heir to the throne.

Just as Will’s heir status is unearned, he should not have been viewed as model-worthy, with rock-star good looks, successor to his mother’s unique presence, and destined for greatness. There was never any there, there with William. All of the undeserved media attention, adulation, and over-protection by palace courtiers at the expense of the Spare (Harry), are what helped further set up clueless, lazy, raging, ‘woe-is-me’ Willy, for failure!

As we all know, it is Harry who inherited his mother’s caring, empathy, passion, compassion, and her charismatic personality. ✨️ Moreover, it is Harry who has done something with his gifts and his blessings.

      • aftershocks says:

^^ Also, of course, Harry has done the utmost to overcome his grief, to lead by example, and to follow the light that entered him through the wounds (the painful experiences and the betrayals) he has endured.

“The wound is where the light enters you.” — Rumi

Nothing makes a narcissist angrier than seeing their determined black sheep thrive.

    • Lady D says:

Between Harry leaving, his unspoken thoughts about his brother’s wife, and now having to not only take orders from Camilla, but HAS to do what she says, I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he physically attacked Harry the next time they’re in the same room together. He probably blames him for everything that’s upended his world.

  17. Laura D says:

This is the kind of soft diplomacy we’re told the BRF excel at. Instead of “fuming” about Harry meeting senior figures in NATO. All William had to do was to take a commercial flight to Germany and support his brother and the vets. Who knows, he might have actually enjoyed himself?

  18. equality says:

ES is in its 3rd year and he’s still launching it?

    • Lorelei says:

Have W&K ever gotten past the “launching” phase for any of their projects? I’m asking this as a serious question! Because Heads Together seems like it disappeared as it was still “launching.” Those two are walking definitions of failure to launch.

      • Marivic says:

@Lorelei. You hit it right. Their projects are all “failure to launch.”
Homewards which seeks to end homelessness in Britain,
Cyberbullying Prevention, Heads Together, Heads Up, Early Years to mention a few. Hope Earthshot doesn’t get shot and disappear. Also hope the other projects mentioned are pursued by the Waleses.

      • aftershocks says:

Heads Together was launched, with Harry leading the way and bandwagon Willy and Keen Khate (who got credit for naming Harry’s idea) latching on to receive some of the p.r. shine. As usual, Harry did all the work on behalf of the HT effort, and then the project slowly receded into the background after Harry & Meghan married, and WanK lost interest. WanK became more consumed by jealousy over Spare Harry finding his soulmate and escaping their grasping clutches…

    • bisynaptic says:

      What I was thinking!

  19. Lili says:

I think we have to look at this another way, be William never went to the frontline, so really Invictus is about those who went into battle not those sitting at home with a pile of chocolate medals. Willy will never know what it feels like to be in the front line. It hits different when you have been in battle and then being pulled home , seeing you fellow fighters injured.

This is why the “battle” between Willy and Harry is a non starter, they both have different experiences of the world, and it’s about time the rota recognised it

  20. Amy Bee says:

    Whatever, William’s in a one-sided battle.

  21. Feebee says:

I’m torn between the usual trying to ignore Willy and a desire to confirm the non-existent for him. Like, yes William, it’s a competition and mate, you are losing.

  22. MrsCope says:

Such an embarrassing article. How long do you need to prepare to be a global statesman before you are one. Because methinks Harry has arrived. Also, Will’s people are being really loose goosey with the UN stuff. He’s meeting with a UN secretary, I’m pretty sure, but whatever. Harry has something to say, he’s putting in the work, and people see the value/his value/Meghan’s value! But yes, continue KP to listen, learn and prepare.

    • Sue E Generis says:

And how do you appoint yourself the title global statesman without actually having a single instance to point to to back it up? He’s like a toddler screaming, ‘I’m the biggest, bestest person in the whole world!’ Embarrassing.

    • Lorelei says:

@MRSCOPE, and how long do you need to keep announcing to everyone that you’re a “statesman” before it becomes something that’s assumed, and simply goes without saying? IDK how William isn’t embarrassed about the way he’s portrayed.

  23. Eurydice says:

OK, wait a minute. H&M and W&K are “the most famous pairs on the planet so all eyes will be on them.” So, why isn’t Kate going to NY along with William – what happened with that pair?

    • TheWigletOfWails says:

      *Adele voice: divorce babes, divorce!*

He wants to be taken seriously as a statesman, can’t have coverage of Princess Barbie’s wiglets and Meg in NY cosplay overshadow his moment 😂🤭

  24. TheWigletOfWails says:

Whoever is writing these articles on Peg’s behalf is doing him no favors. They’re literally confirming everything Harry has said with undeniable evidence and it looks so bad for him. You’re literally going to be king one day (if the monarchy hasn’t been abolished) yet you’re in a one-sided battle (and losing) with your brother minding his own business with his family thousands of miles away? What a sad, small and petty man he is.

    • Christine says:

This is the part that gets me every time. He looks AWFUL, in comparison, and they just keep churning out more articles about how mad he is all the time. There is no pomp and ceremony left with the Windsors, it’s all whiny and pathetic.

  25. MSTJ says:

The British tabloids continue to benefit financially from creating stories to promote a competition as if the Sussexes are competing with the Waleses.

Whereas the Sussexes have moved on from royal duties and are just getting on with their work, financial independence and wellbeing.

Meanwhile the Waleses are looking at what the Sussexes are doing and trying to figure out ways to ride the Sussexes coat tails for clout. They link Sussex to every Wales story to promote Wales narrative.

The British tabloids would like to project the Waleses as perfect images (deities) who are “superior” to the Sussexes. Their narrative is so delusional that in order to make it work as a continuous sitcom, they not only write about the Sussexes public events with a soap opera angle, they create fake stories about the Sussexes even when the Sussexes are not even out in the the public for months.

The reality is that the Waleses are mediocre and cannot independently provide their tabloid propaganda arm enough compelling content to feed their royal sycophants interested.

Now that I’ve been able to see the Sussexes are thriving and happy through the last two weeks of events they’ve attended (Beyonce concert and others), the negative royal storylines about them don’t even get any reaction from me anymore because I understand they are clout chasing the Sussexes. Harry and Meghan are out of the UK and they’re thriving, no royal mafia family toxicity. It’s been 3+ years since they left and started a new life and new ventures from scratch in another country. They wanted the Sussexes to fail and they didn’t, despite huge challenges, ups and downs and saboteurs in the media. What a story of resilience. Yay!!!! It’s a celebration 🎊 for me.

After IG23, my attention will turn back to his court cases against those tabloids for their unlawful information gathering. I pray he wins them all. 😇

  26. Nanea says:

Baldimort the Incandescent will be the UK’s Head of State and the Commander-in-Chief eventually.

And this is how he wants to be seen meanwhile?

As a raging a**hole who can’t even keep his emotions under control just for the few minutes it takes to write a non-committal message for the injured veterans who proudly display the UK’s flag?

Someone who much rather has his ‘friends’ leak how he’s consumed by jealousy while he’s fighting an imaginary battle with his younger, much-loved and competent little brother?

I’d love to know how much the NATO people are laughing behind his and the BRF’s back – because I’m sure some of them are on SM and/or read the foaming-at-the-mouth screeching word salads the Faily Heil calls articles.

  27. Jensa says:

What was Harry supposed to do? Snub the NATO delegation thereby causing offence?
And as for this: “William is increasingly popular in the US and his trip has generated a lot of interest across the Atlantic”. Complete fiction. PW struggles to generate any interest even here (the UK), why on earth would the US be bothered? The man is a dull, boorish, totally charmless charisma-free zone. And why on earth is he so obsessed with making an impact in the US? He does realise he’s not going to be king over there, doesn’t he?
All this just shows that PW really does have his knickers in a twist over Harry and Invictus. Although it’s quite amusing to watch, I imagine it’s not much fun being on PW’s staff right now.

  28. Jensa says:

Unfortunately for PW, and no matter how much the UK press try to spin it (and their attempts are blatantly desperate at this point), the truth is there for everyone to see: Harry is in his element at Invictus, he looks relaxed and in control, he mixes easily with people at all levels (from kids to veterans to politicians and statesmen), he has charisma in spades and everyone there loves him. He’s playing an absolute blinder (as is Meghan). Even the DM have had to acknowledge the “rock star welcome”, everyone singing “happy birthday” to him, etc.
Whereas PW on the other hand .. er. Well. None of the above. And telling the press to brief in your favour does not, and never will, make it so.
(Same goes for his useless gurning vacuous jazz-hands wife, obviously).

  29. Catherine says:

I don’t think this article is even sourced from William. This is another unhinged Tom Sykes rant. He is as incandescent as William is which is why IMO he writes so many articles describing William’s anger. Like so many in the media. Sykes gets particularly angry when there is proof that the Sussexes status/respect/popularity with dignitaries has not been negatively affected by the smear campaign. Because it establishes the fact that the Sussexes don’t need the media the way the BRF does. The Sussexes have taken away their control. Despite all the crazy the Sussexes are building corporate and charitable partnerships and meaningful relationships with government officials. That is driving the media dogs mad. Also. Sykes and others are desperate to push this brothers at war narrative because the only way to make William interesting is by connecting him to Harry. It’s quite desperate actually. William has been out all week. Is Sykes writing about that. No of course not because he doesn’t care. Instead he writes this ridiculous article about how what Harry is doing THIS week impacts William NEXT week. IMO. Sykes and a lot of other media don’t like or respect William. They know he is pathological and responsible for most of the ill will but they can’t/won’t write that so they write articles like this.

  30. Marivic says:

William is the lazy giant who always sleeps. Him sleeping on the job has made his hard-working and diligent brother Harry go way past him in everything significant. Sleep tight William.

Btw William has no increase in popularity in the US. It’s all made up in his and the rota clowns’ heads. Hahaha!

  31. Alexandria says:

BM, maybe help your future King and stop writing about HM and write about him? We don’t need you at all.

Pegs is stuck in perpetual infancy. Keep crying Willy. And why is the future toddler King obsessed about the US? There’re so many things to help with in the UK. But of course no common sense prevails on salty island.

  32. anotherlily says:

To make things even worse for ‘international statesman’ William , his counterpart in Denmark, Crown Prince Frederick, will be in New York at the same time for scheduled meetings at the UN. Denmark has been bidding for membership of the Security Council and Prince Frederick is an official representative of the Danish government.

William has put no real effort into his Earthshot Prize. There’s no promotion of the participants or even of the prizewinners. They are not invited to the party.

    • BQM says:

Talk about an heir prepared to reign. William should be embarrassed in comparison to Frederick. Seriously, check out his CV. Many of the European heirs, if not all, leave the UK in the dust educated and training wise.

  33. Debbie says:

And these are the people who were supposed to be ignoring Invictus? What happened to their strategy of “ignore and distract”?

  34. Gabby says:

William preening for himself in the mirror – “Who’s a global stateman? I am! – Me Me Me Me Me Me Me Me!!!!! AAAAAGGGGGHHHHH” That green rug he flies around the world is more of a global statesman than he is.

I amused myself for a few minutes thinking of the mass panic that call must have generated in IG headquarters, “hey it’s me Guglielmo, and I’m going to be there Friday with 1100 friends, got room for us? By the way, we’re all hungry.

  36. Lau says:

Let’s hope he does get at least one interview in the US otherwise this will be very awkward but funny for us.

  38. MikeB says:

  41. honeychild says:

William is increasingly popular in America? The lies of it all. I hope his people are not feeding him that bs because he’s going to be very disappointed when he visits yet again and he is basically ignored…yet again. Or maybe they think Boston went well on the bar based in hell scale.

    • AnneL says:

Yeah, I raised my eyebrows at that. William has always had a fair amount of good will in America because of his mother. A lot of people watched his wedding and they think the kids are cute and Kate has nice hair and buttons.

That said, his popularity is not increasing. Why would it? It’s not like he’s improving with age and his stunts here have just felt very try-hard.

  42. Jaded says:

    HARRY: No you can’t.

  46. Saucy&Sassy says:

That NATO Joint Force Commander General Guglielmo Miglietta attended with 1100 others actually makes sense to me. There are 31 countries in NATO. The Invictus Games has 21(?) countries participating this year. Of course, NATO would make an appearance after the success in The Netherlands last year. Wasn’t there some type of high up military meeting in The Hague, too? This is a wonderful show of support and I suspect there were some meetings going on. Also, it wasn’t that long ago when I read that Germany appeared to be the next leader in Europe–replacing the UK in that spot. Hmmmmmm.

I love the fact that active service members in Germany have been attending the IG this year. What a boost for the athletes.

I think the bm are having a real struggle to understand that the UK’s standing in the world has changed. I believe the government, brf and bm thought that by leaving the EU the Empire would rise again. Obviously, they need to lay off of the Star War movies. If they can ever get past that belief, they will have to change their tactics. I have no idea what it will take for them to get there, but for the UK they need to get there sooner rather than later.

I think H&M have become a symbol for what they lost.

    • Lorelei says:

@Saucy this is such a great post and I agree with every word. H&M are absolutely a symbol of what they’ve lost — but they’re living, breathing symbols out there taunting the Windsors (in their own demented minds) every day by living their lives the way they are. And they’re not going anywhere anytime soon. The Windsors have a reckoning coming at some point.

    • AC says:

100% agree. I think they refuse to admit their standing in the world has really been on a spiraling downfall. And the more they act as a tabloid culture the more they will become irrelevant.

  47. blunt talker says:

I just read a story where monarchy recently had stories about the coronation censored-tell me again how the royal family is not in bed with their media-free speech my ass-the American press wants a no holds barred interview with Willie-he knows what they want to ask about his actions in Harry’s book Spare-to say he will only interview with the UK media-this shows the scratch my back and I will scratch yours syndrome. I don’t believe there is truly free speech in the Uk when it comes to the royal family.

  48. Beverley says:

Willnot can come to the US as often as he thinks he can fleece his British subjects’ wallets, but he can’t buy American love. Americans just aren’t that into him.

Stay mad, William. It’s all you have to live for.

  49. Eating Popcorn says:

All the American news media bidding to interview Pegs… ah yes, I’m sure they are going CRAZY for William and his rising star popularity…

  50. tamsin says:

September is UN month in New York so the city will be crawling with diplomats, ministers, heads of state and international delegations. Dozens of organizations are meeting, usually a half dozen royals or so as well. Queen Maxima works with a UN organization, Queen Rania has worked with the Clinton foundation, and I believe Prince Frederick is speaking this year just to name a few royals’ involvements. William will have his work cut out for him to stand out since he doesn’t have a reputation for glamour or serious work. Also, the competition between William and Harry is only in the minds of William and the trash BM. If William really wanted to make an impression he would do an interview or two. At least get on a morning show. I have noticed that whenever EarthShot does anything, he needs to bring along a gaggle of celebrities to raise interest.

  51. AC says:

Poor William.. lol… He has to live in the shadows of his better and smarter younger brother. BTW.. I haven’t seen much headlines of William going to NYC, the US media doesn’t give a sh$@t. They’re more focusing on Boebert acting crazy at a show and the UAW strikes.

  52. JJ says:

Why have there been so many reports about William having a whole meltdown like a toddler over the last few years essentially because ‘Harry got to do something cool but Will is sooooo much cooler so why is anyone even talking to Harry when they could talk to Will?’ It’s giving “look at me! Look at me!” energy. Do they think this behavior is becoming of a future king? Add to that he hasn’t said one word of congratulations or good luck to the veterans who served his country at great cost to themselves who competed or are currently competing in this year’s Invictus Games… honestly, it makes Will look childish, petty, and not at all like a future king. Rethink this PR “strategy” team KP.

    • aftershocks says:

      ^^ Tee hee! 😂 Exactly @B.

This phrasing by Sykes looks like a leftover remnant of the ‘Fab Four’ media fantasy falsehood. The real ironic kicker though is Harry’s admission in his memoir, Spare, that he actually hoped for himself and his future wife to join with bro Willy and sis-in-law Kate to form an unbreakable, service-driven royal foursome. That was Harry’s dream, as he probably knew it would have been his mother’s dream too, for her sons. But what was woeful Willy’s petty response: “That’s probably not going to happen, Harold. And you have to be okay with it not happening.”

IOW, ‘Harold, my status is higher than yours. I’m going to be King. If you even ever get married, you and your lowly spouse will be playing second fiddle to me and Catherine. You are not on my level! You were born to serve me… Furthermore, you can’t have Africa! It’s MINE!’

  55. Agreatreckoning says:

++. It’s quite fascinating. H&M are irrelevant per the BM/BRF. Though they talk about them nonstop. H&M are no long working royals. They are not allowed to use ‘HRH’. H&M have been proclaimed as being “exiled” by the Britshitshow.

Harry’s successful Invictus Games is now considered “a royal-style engagement”.LOFL It’s not. He’s a high profile vet highlighting the achievements and resilience of other vets. The competitors in the Invictus Games give no shites that H&M are royal/royal adjacent.
