King Charles & Camilla plan to visit Australia & New Zealand next October

When QEII passed away, King Charles rushed to announce his plans to travel the world on a big commonwealth tour. There were palace-approved stories about how Charles wanted to do a two-year travel blitz and do big, setpiece tours of Australia and New Zealand especially. In the first fifteen months as king, Charles has only visited Germany, France and Kenya in an official capacity. That’s it. Meanwhile, his heir has only been to Boston (a flop) and Singapore (another flop). Kate apparently doesn’t even want to travel anymore, and neither does Queen Camilla. Well, big news, Charles and Camilla will definitely go to Australia next year.

King Charles is planning to visit Australia next year in what is likely be a key test of his popularity as monarch, the Sydney Morning Herald has reported. The King, accompanied by Queen Camilla, is expected to travel to Australia just before or after the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Samoa, which is being held in late October.

“King Charles is planning to visit Australia and New Zealand in October,” the newspaper reported, quoting an anonymous diplomatic source, who had contact with the monarch.

A source within Australia’s Labor Government, who also asked not to be named, said the visit had not been formally confirmed by Buckingham Palace, but added: “It’s very possible it will happen. It would be around the time of CHOGM that he would come, either before or after, that would make sense,” the source added.

Conveniently, Canberra’s parliamentary schedule for next year has a week-long break on both sides of the CHOGM conference, which would allow a royal visit to Australia without interrupting the parliamentary sitting calendar.

It would be the royal couple’s first visit to Australia since 2018 when they opened the Commonwealth Games on the Queensland Gold Coast.

Public reaction to a royal visit next year might indicate the level of republican sentiment in Australia, coming more than two years after Queen Elizabeth’s death. The most recent opinion poll, held just after Her Majesty’s death, suggested 46 per cent of Australians favoured a republic, while 54 per cent preferred the current system of government.

[From The Telegraph]

I’m going to keep bringing this up because no one else will: Charles was supposed to travel a lot more in his first year as king. He should have gone on at least one big Commonwealth tour in 2023, and in the fall of 2022, the palace promised to do just that. It’s weird that no one brings it up or asks why Commonwealth countries are getting the royal shaft. A promise to visit Australia and New Zealand more than two years after his accession is kind of insulting. Of course, pity poor Canada, the king and his heir absolutely refuse to even “promise” to visit Canada.

Hilariously, William had the perfect chance to visit Australia for a few days this summer – he could have and should have traveled to Oz in August when the Lionesses made it to the Women’s World Cup final. Instead, he flatly refused, because something something the environment or he couldn’t visit a country before his father. Even that nutjob Daniela Elser pointed out that William and Kate seem to (gulp) not want to have anything to do with Australia.

Maybe they haven’t visited any of the Commonwealth countries, except Kenya, because none of them want them to.

    • Jais says:

The countries have to pay for the visits right? So yeah I doubt they mind him not visiting.

    • Geegee says:

Pleas don’t pity Canada. We don’t want them here. Their tours cost a fortune. Not worth it. Also don’t want their ugly mugs on our money.

    • Elizabeth says:

I’d be so entertained for a bunch of the countries to announce, with King Charles standing right there, that they’re leaving the Commonwealth.

  2. Will and Kate could easily have added Canada to their Boston fiasco. But they weren’t interested. I mean, U.S. isn’t even a Commonwealth country.

    • Christine says:

The U.S. is the one country that very publicly broke up with the monarchy, that’s the entire point of the U.S. There is zero reason for any of them to come here, we’ve got Harry and Meghan, and that is perfect.

I really hope Willnot gets over his plans to “charm” us. Seriously, just don’t.

  3. Eurydice says:

Ok, if he’s still alive by then. I agree with Kaiser, he should have gone earlier. Not only because it was insulting not to, but it would have been better to ride in on QEII’s popularity instead of giving people 2 years to see what Charles is really like.

    • Smart&Messy says:

Or if she is alive by then. Although alcohol is a preservative, she is not in a good shape. She is going to hate every minute of the long trip and I love it for her.

  4. tamsin says:

Canada is generally uninterested in another royal visit.

  5. Elaine says:

Canadian here who would like them to visit. Just so I could boo them and hold up a ‘Not my King’ sign.

  6. Are we even sure Chuckles and Horsilla will still be alive? They both don’t look to be in the best of health. Are they really wanted over there to visit? Are those countries hoping that it’s far enough out that the visit may not even happen? Let’s see what future brings for these two jackasses.

    • Sportie says:

@Susan Collins My assumption is that this is an announcement only, Camilla has no intention of going. At some point shortly before the date comes it’ll be announced that King Chuck is going (at best) alone. Notice the wording they are caging their bets so they can just as easily not go and claim it was never confirmed for certain. This is their way of getting that talking point off the table for a while (visiting Commonwealth Nations).

      • @Sportie thank you for answering my questions!!

      • BeanieBean says:

It’s not even an announcement. It’s someone in an Australian paper speculating that next October would be a good time to visit because that’s near the time of the heads of commonwealth meeting in Samoa, which is kinda sorta nearby. Pretty sketchy stuff to hang an article on.

  7. Beverley says:

So, saying that Australia and New Zealand will be “true tests” of the monarchy’s popularity is like saying it doesn’t really matter if the brown and black Commonwealth nations don’t want them, the more “important” white nations will be the true test.

Tell me you’re white-supremacy bigots relying on being propped up in white-majority Commonwealth countries without actually telling me you’re white-supremacy bigots relying on being propped up in white-majority Commonwealth countries.

    • Eurydice says:

I think the “true test” is this article. It doesn’t say that C&C will actually go on this tour – it just says there are plans, but they’re unconfirmed and the Australian source says “possibly.” If there are protests, I’ll bet C&C won’t go.

  8. Amy Bee says:

I’m looking forward to this tour flopping just like the others these two have gone on since they’ve become King and Queen.

  9. Sportie says:

No worries King Chuck a Pen and Evil Queen Sidepiece, Canada doesn’t want you anyhow. There is literally zero interest when they visit. The only people that show up are those connected to the organization/event.

  10. Aunt Agatha says:

Oh, so sorry, we’re closed then! Yes, whole of Australia, will be CLOSED.

    Thank you so much!

  11. SenseOfTheAbsurd says:

    Ugh, somebody change the locks.

Chuck and Horsey were in NZ a few years ago and nobody noticed or gave a shit. First I heard of it was a story in UK press.

  12. Becks1 says:

    Sorry australia and New Zealand.

  13. AndyR says:

I actually think feelers go out to Commonwealth countries and promises are made based on interest. The Canadian Government likely has little to no interest in a big royal visit. The under-the-radar visits, like Anne, are easier to say yes to as there’s little to no publicity. Royal fans are not the current government’s voters.

  14. JaneS says:

I hope Australia gets a big crowd of “Not my King” protesters.
    Stay home, ya worthless Tools.

  15. kelleybelle says:

I’m sure they’ll be as charmed by that corpse of a side-piece just like everyone else is. That is no queen. Not even 100 miles away. I hope they’ve all read Spare.

  16. Lauren says:

There’s already a petition on for Australia to refuse to cover the cost of the visit. From what I could tell NZ is to busy with internal politics at the moment for anyone to notice the announcement

  17. Lady Digby says:

I thought the Fail suggested Big Willy was going to Aus/NZ over the Summer ( no mention of his piano playing wifey, maybe she has to stay home and practice?)
Here’s a suggestion, why don’t Chucky and Big Willy took together and leave their wives at home?

  18. Laura D says:

I thought W&K were going to Australia and taking the children with them? Oh I forgot. They can’t go because the King hasn’t been there yet!

  19. Mary Pester says:

Well that should prove interesting, just who’s going to draw the short straw and tell camzilla that “no, your not here just to visit the wine making region, and NO that does not mean crates of free samples will be sent here. Australia and New Zealand should roll up the welcome mat and tell them,” don’t you know there is a cost of living crisis, so if you come, you pay your own way and your own security, food, accommodation and vehicle costs.
And Canada, has Harry there soon for the first ever winter invictus so why would they want the N team to visit when they have him

  20. Saucy&Sassy says:

This is interesting because I looked up tours in 2023 and Edward was in New Zealand and Australia; Sophie was in Canada; Anne was in Canada and New Zealand. There seems to be a LOT of interest in the white countries where KFC is head of state. FYI, both Anne and Sophie were in New York. I wonder if the brf will ever figure out that the US is really big and encompasses more than New York and Washington D.C.?

  21. Over it says:

Does Camilla come up for air when she drinks ?

  22. Gabby says:

How did Chuckles convince Camilla to take this trip? Did he promise she could remain drunk the entire time?

  23. Krista says:

When will a RF visit a predominantly black and brown Commonwealth country? Can’t wait for this,

    • Saucy&Sassy says:

Krista, a good question. I looked at the tours that have been done this year and Edward went to Singapore, New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia and Turkey; Sophie went t Columbia, Ethiopia, Canada, New York and Italian St. Funeral; Anne went to Canada and New Zealand. Interesting choices, isn’t it? If I’m correct, Singapore, New Sealand, Australia and Canada are Commonwealth countries.

I don’t think anyone wants to go to the Commonwealth countries that a majority of the population is black and brown. But, I want to assure you, that the brf are NOT racist. /s

  24. P says:

Kaiser, your choice of photos consistently make make laugh.

  25. J.ferber says:

I see the bitch is drinking again, like always.

  26. bisynaptic says:

So, the Head of State of several Commonwealth countries and Head of the Commonwealth isn’t going to attend the Commonwealth Heads of State meeting?
