It’s been a hot minute since we checked in with Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes. When we last paid them some attention, they had successfully completed Dry January and were looking forward to a February glass of wine. If you’ve forgotten why they did Dry January, it was they because started boozing after their morning runs and kept an ongoing buzz until bedtime. T.J. confessed that he had been drinking approximately 18 drinks a day and Amy estimated at least 30 drinks per week.
Their podcast, “Amy & T.J.,” is still chugging along, as well. In fact, they even had their first live show at the Soho House in NYC last week. It was set up like a fireside chat, so I guess they were going for an intimate-evening type feel. They played all of the greatest hits, too: T.J. cried, Amy got delusional, they talked about missing being on TV, compared themselves to characters on Game of Thrones, and did some light PDA. So, you know, they were having a normal one in front of an audience.
A source who attended the conversation told Page Six it felt like they were missing the small screen. “Amy opened up [by] joking about how she hadn’t been in a room with bright lights in a year and a half,” our source said.
Their lives looked very different back then. They were married to exes Andrew Shue and Marilee Fiebig (who are now, of course, in a committed relationship with each other), and they were earning millions at a cushy daytime TV gig, hosting “GMA 3” at ABC News. That all went kaput when they blew up their marriages, and it was revealed that their relationship extended beyond the news desk.
Needless to say, it’s been “a year of hell,” as the couple so eloquently put it back in December when they launched the podcast.
On Thursday, Holmes’s daughter with Fiebig was in the room, and he started crying at the mention of children and divorce according to our source. “T.J. [also] described how he felt like everyone hated them and Amy felt like Cersei in ‘Game of Thrones,’” the source said.
And whenever Robach appeared to feel discomfort, “T.J. reached for her arm” the source revealed.
Robach was also frank about her previous marriages and “compared herself to Elizabeth Taylor because of failed marriages. T.J. said she’s half way there, and Amy said to ‘Buckle up!’” the source concluded. (Taylor, of course, was married eight times to seven men).
She compared herself to Elizabeth Taylor? Bah-hahahaha. Oh, honey, you’ve only been married twice. That’s just a quarter of Liz’s marriage count. Unless, of course, Amy is anticipating a future failed marriage (or two, if she really wants to emulate Liz) to T.J. That would at least get her halfway. With only two divorces, she’s not even in Jennifer Lopez territory (with all due respect to J.Lo, of course).
Anyway, the Game of Thrones comparison was a tad bit over-dramatic. It’s not a perfect comparison when you consider Cersei’s overall arc, but I’m assuming what they meant there was that Amy felt like Hannah Waddington was following her around, ringing a bell, and chanting “shame” over and over again. I’m sure she did feel like that for a while, and I wonder if it helped contribute to her 30+ drinks a week. In the past, Amy’s tended to not accept her own responsibility for where she is now, but I hope that she’s in a better place now and is working with a good therapist. Oh, and I hope T.J. is working with a good therapist, too.
He brought his TEN YEAR OLD to this debacle??? What in the hell??
These two are a hot mess. They’d make more money as reality TV stars at this point. Their people should call Andy Cohen’s people and get this done.
In what fantasy land is anywhere close to as fabulous as Elizabeth Taylor was? Did any of her exes buy gorgeous jewels for her? Take several seats, Amy.
No real interest in these two, but adding a comment out of appreciation for anything that’s not a royal post. And yes – I realize this means I’m on the wrong site! I head back here every so often in the (delusional?) hope there might be more celeb news again one day. I miss it.

Yes and every time I’ve seen couples smile so hard in every photo, it turns out they are covering up unhappiness or dysfunction.

These two aren’t quite Cheech and Chong, Laurel and Hardy, Bill and Ted, Wayne and Garth. No they’re not that caliber. But I’m willing to spot them a Beavis and Butthead comparison!
Their respective ex-spouses must be rolling their eyes so bad and sighing with relief that they dodged those ones.
One thing I’ve noticed is how many people don’t realize that Andrew Shue – Amy’s husband who she cheated on with TJ, and who is currently dating TJ’s wife he cheated on – HAD AN AFFAIR WITH AMY WHILE MARRIED. People like that the exes are dating right now but for some reason don’t know or forget that Shue was married when he got with Amy! So I hope TJ’s now exwife knows what she’s dating….Shue had no problem having an affair with Amy, leaving his wife for Amy, then marrying Amy!

Late response, but this actually isn’t entirely true. Both Amy and Andrew had both separated from their spouses and were almost done finalizing their divorces prior to meeting each other. Granted, Amy did cheat on her first husband during that marriage, but it wasn’t with Andrew. In fact, Amy and Andrew were set up by a friend at a book party because Andrew had complained about being lonely and wanting to meet someone to said friend. Shue seems like a decent, caring guy, and there has never been any indication or proof that he has cheated on any of his partners/wives.
