People: The Sussexes are not being kept in the loop about the Windsors’ fiascoes

On January 17th, Kensington Palace and Buckingham Palace made their dual announcements about the Princess of Wales’s mysterious abdominal surgery and hospitalization, and King Charles’s prostate issue. Not even one full week later, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex popped up at the One Love premiere in Jamaica, having been personally invited by the CEO of Paramount. The Sussexes were greeted warmly by Prime Minister Andrew Holness, the same man who fired Prince William and Kate during their catastrophic Flop Tour in 2022. I’m taking this particular stroll down memory lane because Harry and Meghan looked healthy, happy and unconcerned with the royal dramas playing out over there. Of course, shortly after that trip, Charles told Harry about his cancer and Harry rushed right over… to spend 30 minutes with his dad. Harry hasn’t been back since early February, and he hasn’t projected an air of someone who is allowing his father or brother’s drama to ruin his plans. That hasn’t stopped “royal sources” from feverishly briefing People Mag that this is all about the palace SNUBBING the Sussexes.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are in the dark about Kate Middleton’s abdominal surgery and recovery.

“They are aware of everything that goes on back in England, but are being left out of any details regarding Kate,” a family source tells PEOPLE. “There is clearly no trust.”

Despite Prince Harry, 39, traveling from California to the U.K. last month following the announcement of King Charles’ cancer diagnosis, his brief visit to his home country did not involve meeting with his brother, Prince William, 41, or sister-in-law, Princess Kate, 42. A royal source said at the time there were “no plans” for the brothers to get together.

A former courtier suggested that the Prince of Wales’ “principal concern is his wife” in the weeks following the surgery that kept her in the hospital for nearly two weeks, but trust continues to be a concern following the release of Harry’s revealing memoir, Spare, and the Netflix docuseries with Meghan, 42. “It would be the normal run of things to go and see your sister-in-law who’s had a serious operation and also see your niece and nephews. But it isn’t normal. It’s terribly sad,” a source close to the royal household told PEOPLE.

[From People]

I still find that “go and see your sister-in-law” quote so odd. William raged for a full week about how he still despises Harry and never, ever wants to see him again and they’re mad at Harry because he didn’t break into Adelaide Cottage to check Kate’s pulse? Anyway, I believe that the palace isn’t keeping Harry in the loop. The thing is, I don’t think many people are in the loop, which is why Kensington Palace has been staggering from one catastrophe to the next. It’s not all about punishing the prince who escaped, it’s about wall-to-wall incompetence.

When all fails, they use the name of the Sussexes to deflect and redirect. Harry and Meghan are minding their own business yet their name is being dragged into this royal mess, as a cover up, to redirect the conversation blame them and point a finger at them. Typical!

    • Liz says:

If H &M had done the Jamaica tour it would have been a resounding success.

They’d have brought informality and appropriateness.

      • HeatherC says:

I believe the monarchy still would have been fired, but the tour wouldn’t have been as awkwardly disastrous as it was with Huevo and Huesos

      • Becks1 says:

I think he would have let them sit down first, lol.

      • Christine says:

And Harry and Meghan would have applauded him and offered support, not sullenly stare at him and cover their crotches.

  2. s808 says:

Not their circus, not their monkeys. No reason for them to be involved in whatever mess the Windors have going on.

    • StillDouchesOfCambridge says:

Totally. Meg and Harry are watching from Montecito, laid back in the shadow of their beautiful tree, sitting on their bench, with cold drinks and homemade lemon and oil cake snack. They know WanK dont care about them and they decided to live their lives thriving. Get out of the paperbag Willie/Kkkhan’t! Hint: there’s only
      one way

  3. Snuffles says:

Good. The further they are away from this shit show, the better. They don’t need to be dragged into this mess.

  4. Christine says:

Harry and Meghan: Under no circumstances do we want to know what is going on with the Wails.

    • Anna M says:

I know! But the royals and the rotas, (TMZ included), are itching for H & M, to be involved and say something about the photoshop mess so that the royal deflection can be justified, more negativity can be unleashed on them, haters like Trump can pounce on them to continue the one sided drama and pile more abuse to defend W and K. The royals are ashamed that the world is watching them closely, that Meghan is vindicated and that H & M don’t care and are busy minding their own business as usual. So, instead they’re choosing to pretend not to wanna involve and include H & M in the hullabaloo in the royal family but in actuality, H & M are ignoring the noise, are staying far away from them and don’t care or wanna be involved in this manufactured drama.

  5. Harla A Brazen Hussy says:

The Sussex’s are healthy, happy and well moisturized, so I don’t think they care. Also, Meghan is working on her new project and I imagine, has little time to concern herself with those who had “concerns” about her children’s skin color.

  6. Brassy Rebel says:

Not being in that information loop is a good thing. When it all implodes, you had nothing to do with it.

    • blueberry says:

Exactly. Now how can they be blamed for leaks when they didn’t know any information

  7. equality says:

So, if it’s appropriate for PW’s “principal concern” to be his wife, then it’s appropriate for PH’s concern to be his wife and children. Why should he be over-wrought about Kate?

    • Dee(2) says:

Because they are obsessed with the idea that Harry has a secret longing for Kate and wishes he could be with her instead and misses her. Because projection is the name of the game.

  8. BeyondTheFringe says:

I would argue that Buckingham Palace isn’t even being kept in the loop.

Unless…I’m now contemplating the non-zero chance that the idiot PR surrounding the Kate-spiracy is 💯 on purpose and they throwing her under the bus to distract from how sick Charles really is. And in that case, we are complicit.

I just don’t even know what to believe anymore.

  9. Eurydice says:

Well, all these insiders weren’t kept in the loop about Harry’s visit to Charles, either. And Harry hasn’t has uttered a peep about what they discussed together. I think Harry is being kept in the loop about Charles, by Charles himself. If W&K don’t want to personally share with Harry, that’s not his problem.

  10. Schrodinger's Kate says:

Well isn’t this nice of family and royal sources to absolve Harry and Meghan of any insider knowledge of the Royal 💩 Show?!! It’s right there from the horses’ mouths that Harry and Meghan are living their lives in the beautiful American Riviera, being busy and successful and don’t have any particular insights into what their crazy ass Salt Island relatives are up to.

    • lanne says:

They keep scoring own goals. They reiterate that harry and Meghan are out of the loop…which means they can’t be seen as sources of information. And more people are getting hip to the “bash the Sussexes to take the heat off the Wales” narrative. It’s getting pretty old and stale, and I imagine if this nonsense goes on longer, American comedians will take that on as well.

So much for the Wales taking over America. They are too thin-skinned to set foot in this country, much less win it over.

  11. Amy Bee says:

Is this piece being another attempt to get Harry and Meghan involved in KP’s mess? Because I don’t see why People Magazine felt the need to repeat what was already leaked to the British press when Harry visited in January? What’s going with Kate and William is not Harry and Meghan’s concern and they should not brought into this.

  12. SamuelWhiskers says:

Meghan is pretty much the dictionary definition of in her lane, focused, flourishing, and moisturised right now.

It’s fun to think of Meghan reading all the coverage and laughing with a big bag of popcorn, but it’s more likely that she’s just chilling with her husband and focusing on raising the children and working on her projects and not thinking about them at all.

  13. They are busy with their own lives and jobs and projects. I’m sure they are happy not being in the loop.

  14. Agnes says:

The fell hand of Olivia Knauf reminding us that everything is the Sussexes’ fault.

  15. Is that so? says:

    * “It would be the normal run of things to go and see your sister-in-law who’s had a serious operation and also see your niece and nephews. But it isn’t normal. It’s terribly sad,” a source close to the royal household told PEOPLE.*

British humor is so peculiar, only they get it.

  16. Underhill says:

Ah, good, because this way, when someone starts leaking like a colander about Willy’s tawdry goings on, they won’t be able to blame Harry for that. Or Meghan. Also Good.

  17. Tuesday says:

“Not in the loop? Fuck the loop!”

    —Prince Freakin’ Harry, probably

  18. Becks1 says:

I’m sure they know enough, since People mag admits they are aware of everything that is going on. And I’m sure Harry is being kept in the loop with Charles’ condition/treatment. My guess is that they know what went on with Kate but maybe not any specific details and are just rolling their eyes at this whole mess – and then they move on with their lives.

  19. Chelsea says:

I know they think they are helping by dragging the Sussexes into this as a distraction but they are just reminding people who have heard many conspiracy theories the last few weeks of the secrecy around what’s happening to Kate. The staffers at KP don’t know what’s going on, BP is mute, and now you’re saying her brother in law doesn’t know either. This is not helping. I obviously wouldn’t expect H&M to know or care but highlighting yet again that literally no one seems to know what tf is going on is terrible PR.

  20. Sue says:

So people who live separate lives thousands of miles away aren’t “in the loop”. What a shock. I’d be more interested to learn how much information is being shared with the royals currently living in the UK who are supposedly working members of the family. But of course dropping Anne or Edward or even Andrew’s name won’t get the clicks.

And really this story coupled with Meghan hiring a professional photographer to take pictures of her children is what they consider deflection? Pathetic.

  21. Lau says:

Saying that Harry needed to check on Kate is just them covering their backs and trying to make Harry looks bad either way.

    • Sue says:

And didn’t they drop a story not long ago claiming Harry tried to make contact with William and William refused his calls? So if that’s true (big if) Harry did try to touch base and was rebuffed. What more is he supposed to do? Camp out in front of whatever mansion Kate has been hiding (recuperating) in holding a big “Get Well Soon” sign?

      • Lau says:

If he does nothing, they’ll try to make him look like a terrible person, if he does something they’ll also try to make him look bad, there’s no winning with those people.

      • Deering24 says:

“What more is he supposed to do? Camp out in front of whatever mansion Kate has been hiding (recuperating) in holding a big “Get Well Soon” sign?”

Yep–and holding up a boombox playing Peter Gabriel’s In Your Eyes…😂😂

  22. B says:

GOOD!! Keep your global laughingstock of a shit show faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar away from Harry and Meghan.

  23. Chantal1 says:

Finally some good news! With this sh*tstorm, ignorance is bliss! Now, where is Kate?

  24. Beverley says:

Being “out of the loop” means that H&M know nothing about the Dwindling Windsors Dog & Pony Show. It’s harder to scapegoat someone who isn’t playing the game. I do believe that Pegs is truly bereaved that he no longer has Harry and Meghan to throw under the bus!

What’s a poor, enraged would-be despot to do, especially when he can no longer blame it on the spare?

    • Lady Digby says:

@Beverley well this “protective” husband decided it was right to throw his own sick wife under the bus rather than shield her and admit he and his team got it wrong! Why wasn’t he gentleman enough to issue a statement under his own name admitting that he cocked up the frankenphoto because it was HIS decision to claim credit for taking it until it all went horribly wrong? I don’t believe wifey had another to do with the photoshopping but now she is his scapegoat!

  25. alibeebee says:

Frankly i don’t think the sussexes care, and i don’t blame them.

  26. Mario says:

I’m certain this suits them just fine. If they haven’t been told anything, no one can falsely accuse them of leaking/milking/ignoring/monetizing it. And if everyone’s being super clear they aren’t getting updates, then it’s a little harder to claim they’re purposely counterprogramming when “they know” what’s going on back home.

If something important happens, they’ll find out through a direct communication. They don’t need updates.
