Prince William will only do one or two events a week for the foreseeable future

Here are more photos of Prince William on Thursday, visiting a Surrey-based charity called Surplus to Supper. At one point, they put William in the kitchen to make bolognese sauce with their head chef Mario Confait. From the looks of things, Mario was deeply unimpressed with Huevo’s cooking skills and with the Egg himself. During the visit to Surplus to Supper, a “volunteer” named Rachel Candappa handed William two get-well cards, one for the Princess of Wales and one for King Charles. Becky English posted a video of the interaction:

In the Daily Beast’s coverage, Tom Sykes bizarrely claimed that William was “ambushed with get-well cards” like well-wishers were running after him. It was one woman, and it was also pretty clearly some kind of palace set-up. Ms. Candappa even gave plenty of monarchist quotes to all of the papers. Even though I’m sure it was a set-up, William handled the whole thing awkwardly and Sykes also claimed that Kensington Palace and William are “likely to be irritated at the distraction as they tried to return to business as usual.” Oookay, got it – William doesn’t want any sympathy given to his wife and father with cancer?? And yet, William fully expects the dual cancer crises to be his “get out of work” ticket for the foreseeable future. Per Becky English’s latest exclusive at the Mail:

When Rachel Candappa kindly handed Prince William two cards wishing both his wife and father well in their individual cancer battles, his emotion was hard to miss earlier today. Placing his hand on her shoulder, the future king looked the 71-year-old volunteer directly in the eye as she urged him to ‘take care’ of Catherine, saying firmly and repeatedly: ‘I will do, I will.’

He only swiftly changed the subject, I am told, when it became clear that Mrs Candappa was herself close to tears and the prince was at pains not to embarrass her in front of the cameras.

William’s visit to the Surplus to Supper food redistribution charity in Surrey was first time we have seen the heir to the throne in public following his wife’s unbelievably brave video message of March 22, when she revealed she has been undergoing treatment for cancer. He was typically chatty, genial – laughing and joking with volunteers – but physically you could see small signs of the toll that recent months have taken on him.

It is understood that William and Kate are both immensely ‘grateful’ for the space they have been given since her announcement.
The family spent the Easter break at Anmer Hall, their Norfolk retreat, where George, Charlotte and Louis were able to enjoy the country lifestyle they so love, as the ordinary children they actually are. Indeed, only the couple’s closest aides have seen or even spoken to the prince or princess in recent weeks, emphasising the need for them to retreat and regroup as a family.

While, fortunately, the King appears to be responding well to treatment and is hopeful of taking up more forward-facing public duties in the near future, recent events will have been a stark reminder of what awaits the Wales’ in the not so distant future. It is why, although his appearances today were both welcome and heartfelt, we should not expect to see a wholesale return to royal duties for the prince. Instead, I understand, he is likely to undertake one or two public engagements each week – often on the same day in order to minimise time away from Kate and the children – as well as continuing with his usual behind-the-scenes work.

He will, I am told, almost certainly take some sort of role around the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings in June, as well as attending Trooping the Colour and the annual Order of the Garter service and, perhaps, one of the annual summer garden parties for worthy community heroes. And he will definitely continue to undertake investitures at Windsor Castle on behalf of the King over the coming weeks.

But he will also very much balance this with supporting Catherine who, we must not forget, is still undergoing gruelling preventative chemotherapy treatment as well as continuing to recuperate from her initial abdominal surgery in January – the seriousness of which should not be underestimated by anyone.

‘Obviously it’s been an important day [today] and one that has huge resonance with the prince in terms of his own environmental commitments, but I think you can expect to see the Prince undertake engagements at a similar pace to February and March,’ a source stresses. ‘The prince has always made clear that he wants to balance his commitment to public service and duty with supporting his family at this time, and he will continue to find a way to do that.’

Fortunately in this William has his wife’s backing, wholeheartedly. ‘Absolutely, it’s important to both of them, actually,’ my source adds. ‘June is an incredibly busy time ceremonially and the princess will want him to play his part as well. They share that same sense of commitment and service.’

[From The Daily Mail]

English ended up giving us more information than anyone else has for the past month. Kate is “still undergoing gruelling preventative chemotherapy,” which they were able to keep up even though the family spent the past month in Norfolk (and no one has seen her anywhere near a hospital or clinic all year). We’re also learning that they’re soft-launching the idea that Kate will not be expected or scheduled for June events, like Trooping the Colour. Only William is loosely penciling in some June appearances (D-Day, Trooping, Garter service, one palace garden party). He really will be the Work From Home Prince of Wales.

You know. Some of us get cancer ourselves and still work full time, juggling it all to pay the bills. Must be nice to have this freedom to sit around.

    • Kristen from MA says:

There was a local story here a few years ago about a high school student who had cancer. All throughout her treatment, she never missed a day of classes and got straight As.

      This guy is useless.

    • StillDouchesOfCambridge says:

Whether he’ll work once or twice a week depends on how many times we see Harry and Meghan, as usual. This dude has no pride and no loyalty to the crown.

      • So true!! He seems to only come out when his brother makes appearances.

      • Berkeleyfarm says:

Meghan announces a cooking show so W has to be seen out there cooking!

      • PinkOrchid says:

@Berkeleyfarm That’s what I was thinking! What is it with these people’s obsession with tying on an apron?

Kings and Queens aren’t expected to cook. They are expected to RULE. And, if ruling is of the table, they are expected to serve. Not serve pasta! Somebody got that memo wrong.

    • BeanieBean says:

My boss being one. A little over a year ago he broke his arm skiing; the x-ray showed something on a lung. A few tests later & he learned he had lung cancer that had spread to his brain. He worked throughout it all–yes, of course, taking time off here & there for treatments & resting up from those treatments–but he’s been working all along. He told me the other day he had about a thousand hours of sick leave unused–I said for heaven’s sake, take some time off! He takes a day, here & there.

And then there’s William. Who does not have cancer.

      • HuffnPuff says:

That is what has me pissed off the most. He uses other people’s illnesses as his excuse. Kate is no better. All we know is she’s having preventative treatment but we all know people who have been through or are going through cancer treatment and they still work. They are disgusting with their privilege.

    • Penny says:

I know so many people who have had cancer, including both parents. My mother carried on teaching through breast cancer. My boss carried on working with stage 4, lost fingernails and wore a wig to work. I volunteered with children fighting cancer and their families at the Ronald Mcdonald House. Talk about brave.

    • Escada82 says:

Amen to that. I had colon cancer 3 years ago and had a subtotal colectomy- I was back at work in two weeks. I had just started the job and wasnt eligible for FMLA.

    • Michael says:

My son’s mother is battling cancer right now and has not even thought about taking a day off of work and she has a real job. I had to fly my sister down and go over to her house for a weekend and make her rest. I do not even know what William does with his hours. Is it that hard to dress up and smile for a few hours per day given his super cush life? It is not like he is cleaning horse crap or farming. His job is to smile and wave. Elizabeth was able to do that in her late 90s and on her deathbed

    • Olivia says:

Yes, and I can’t see anything particularly brave about letting people know about one’s cancer diagnosis. When I was battling cancer, I had to let my employer and coworkers know—that’s how it is in the real world. I couldn’t hide from the world when I looked haggard and was too weak to walk 100 yards. I empathize with Catherine, but it’s a little bizarre to take the attitude that she’s handling it any more bravely than those who go through cancer treatment without all the extra help and support she’s got at home.

      • Christine says:

The fact that she is unwilling to put anything other than perfection out to the public is awful. This is perpetuating the idea that illness is shameful and must be hidden away. I’m all the way over this, it’s bad enough that Kate hasn’t been seen in public since Christmas, but William refusing to work?

If you want people with cancer to feel like they are not alone, maybe show them how you are living with cancer. This hiding and refusal to work is childish, at best, and truly disgraceful at worst. The heir needs to get off his ass and start acting like the heir.

    • Advisor2U says:

“English ended up giving us more information than anyone else has for the past month.”
RE is just printing the whole prewritten KP memo handed over to her.

  2. equality says:

The workers are wearing hair nets and gloves, but he is handling the food and doing neither.

    • seaflower says:

And he’s left handed, not right. Just saying.

      • minnieder says:

Well he needs his dominant hand to flap and wave around, can’t trust the right one to handle all the jazz!

    • Anna M says:

William is pathetic, he wanted the spotlight for himself and as soon as H & M left it all for him, he doesn’t want it anymore, he only wants what Harry has. What a miserable way to live!

      • seaflower says:

He has ever since he was small. Remember all those toddler videos where he wanted whatever Harry was had.

    • CatMum says:

      Chef does not look impressed.

    • SIde Eye says:

Thank you Equality. First thing I noticed also. Does he think his germs are special blue blood cooties that don’t get anyone sick?

Chef Mario is a whole mood in that first picture.

His wife has not been seen anywhere since December 2023. It’s almost May 2024.

    • Agreatreckoning says:

Well, in fairness @equality, how much of a hair net does William need. *cough* /s

I’m laughing at his supposed celery chopping for bolognese. It should equal the sizes of the carrots and onions.imo They’re not even left in a good position for further chopping.

One or two events a week for the foreseeble future for the F*King. Awesome. So the same schedule as previous years? Maybe 52 events a year or 104 over 365 days? Poor tuckered out MFER. Glad I’m not a tax paying individual for the monarchy.

  3. seaflower says:

So we shouldn’t expect W (or K) to return to public like because Chuck has cancer and they are what, saving themselves for when he won’t be around?

    • RiaH says:

I was just thinking that when KC3 is gone, it will just be these two and their kids.

      • seaflower says:

WanK will be hoping Chuck lasts 10 years. By then George will be 19 and old enough in their eyes, to take up Harry’s workload.

      • Lorelei says:

@Seaflower, I hope William has the decency to require the press to leave his children alone when they go to University— maybe do one photocall before classes start, like he did, and then insist that they’re given privacy.
I guess it depends on how desperate W&K (if K is still in the picture) are for “working” royals at that point.
But his kids deserve the same chance to pursue their own educations in relative peace and privacy, just as he was given.

I mean, he’s in his 40’s for the love of god and still doesn’t have a workload comparable to Harry’s…it would be so hypocritical for him to expect it of his own children.

      • seaflower says:

@Lorelei unfortunately I think WanK are self centered enough that they might say that, but history will repeat itself for Charlotte (young and glamorous competition in K’s eyes) and Louis (the “useful distraction” for W & G mistakes) will repeat.

  4. Rapunzel says:

Ok, so it feels like he hates even being reminded that Kate/Charles are dealing with medical issues. I am starting to think maybe he’s actually been benched. He’s lazy, yes, but I am more and more convinced they’re limiting his public intetactions because they’re afraid of what he might do/say. Why??

    • Jas says:

Yes, this is my impression also. They’re managing him as if he’s a liability now. He’s not been seen anywhere near Charles all year, nor with Kate. And Charles isn’t rolling him out for any big state occasions, but is sending Camilla instead. He’s been relegated to low key not particularly important events.
He’s had all his comms taken off him too, after the entirely self inflicted disasters of the past few months.

      • StillDouchesOfCambridge says:

why has he been seen with charles and kkkhate? One of the reasons why people don’t get close to another is because of restraining orders. Just sayin. Just reminding everyone that the loving couple throw stuff at each other and eggplant prince violently pushed Harry down enough to break a bowl? This dude is over 40…

    • SussexWatcher says:

I don’t buy the ideas that he’s been benched. I know it could be different than under the old queen, when we were told everyone made their own schedule and worked as much (or as little!) as they personally wanted to. But I just don’t understand how Chuckles has any power to bench someone who now has their own funding and office staff (such as they are). Chuckles has no power over the Cracked Huevo anymore so how could he bench him?

Huevo is just a lazy good for nothing and that’s why he’s refusing to work. He’ll look for any reason – most of which are proven false later – to not work. And none of it makes sense anyway – Chuckles (the actual cancer patient) can work but the spouse of someone receiving preventative chemo cannot? If Huevo had been a hard worker his whole life and if Keen had actually been the most prepared royal bride ever (as we were told) instead of the two of them having a decades long pattern of being lazy and disappearing for months at a time, I’d cut him more slack to take this time off. But he isn’t being sidelined, he’s just being himself.

      • Digital Unicorn says:

I agree he’s not been benched – now that he has access to the Duchy money he no longer feels the need to do what his father wants/says so is very much now ‘you can all fk off with the work thing’. If anyone has been benched its Kate – you know she hasn’t been given access to that Duchy money and its now William who’s controlling her spending not Charles.

Something will give – if Chuck won’t do anything about him, the gov will esp if the Tories are ousted later in the year. If the polls continue to show how unpopular the Windsors are the gov and media will turn on them – will be fun to watch.

That WFH King story from last week from him did NOT go down well here – if he continues to do the bare min it won’t end well for him (and her as well).

      • Christine says:

        Well said.

    • Jay says:

I chalked that up as irritation that (even momentarily) his ailing wife and father were taking up attention at HIS event. Like father, like son, eh?

I don’t think TOB is being benched or held up by anything other than his own reluctance to assume his role. At best, I would guess that his obvious reticence is seen as a relief to the palace, and so they’re not going to push him to do more. And given the awful mess he’s made in his rare appearances over 2024, I agree: He is firmly in the liability column.

But if he actually wanted to go out and do events? To spend all of that duchy money on projects or even just to be seen more than once a week? Nobody could stop him.

    • Lorelei says:

I feel like he hates being reminded that Kate EXISTS

  5. Miranda says:

Chef Mario is giving me life! Notice how he looks rather irritated in ALL the photos he appears in. This was not a case of the photographer happening to take a snap at just the right/wrong moment and capturing a fleeting but amusing facial expression. Dude is genuinely NOT impressed. 😂🤣

    • Brassy Rebel says:

      I know, right?

    • Cassie says:

I would be worried too ,standing next to that idiot holding that big sucker knife .
      Looks dangerous to me .

    • Eurydice says:

I know, he’s like “Wrap this up and get him out of my kitchen.”

    • Becks1 says:

Yes! That’s what I said on X – its not a matter of one picture where he’s looking a little skeptical. He looks totally over William in every picture.

    • Agnes says:

Chef Mario managed to convey heavy eyerolls and derisive smirks with a few subtle facial twitches. He should get a BAFTA.

    • Oh come on. says:

Right? That chef is NOT impressed with a prince in his kitchen.

    • Lady Esther says:

The expression on Chef Mario’s face says to me: “FML I’m going to have to throw out all those vegetables because they aren’t being chopped correctly…at a food waste event. Who set this thing up anyway?”

    • Gabby says:

And it’s flying right over William’s shiny empty head.
PoW looks like he thinks that he’s hitting this appearance right out of the park with his brilliance.

  6. aquarius64 says:

William is showing up for TTC and D-Day because a future commander in chief of UK’s armed forces it’s a bad look if he doesn’t. Not being appointed regent while Charles is undergoing chemotherapy gives a vote of no confidence to William. If Charles passes while Kate undergoes her treatment William still have to step up.

    • SussexWatcher says:

I mean. We’ve just literally been told that he will NOT be stepping up. That he’ll be a WFH king. He doesn’t care about his role as CiC or head of the church. He’s going to do things his way and that includes day drinking and disappearing, being lazy and phoning it in. Literally.

      • seaflower says:

Tin foil hat theory time: you have to wonder if the Establishment would prefer Huevo’s reign to be shorter so they get a young, handsome, malleable K George on the throne before he hits 30.

      • MaryContrary says:

Exactly. Congrats, Charles. You coddled him, let him wiggle out of everything, tantrum and comply-and tada: your heir, Work From Home Will.

      • StillDouchesOfCambridge says:

Working from home cuz he’s drunk or buzzed the whole day.

    • BQM says:

But the future head of the Anglican Church and Defender of the faith(s) couldn’t be bothered to go to church on the holiest day in the Christian religion. I think he may show up at the Trooping and D day events because he likes to dress up in his uniforms.

      • Agnes says:

He’s bringing Church of England back to its evil roots, founded by a sexual predator serial killer heretical King who wanted a divorce.

    • rosa mwemaid says:

He should turn up for the Invictus service as well otherwise it will look as if he doesn’t care about soldiers with life changing injuries. He only want the glamour bits.

    • SueBarbri33 says:

Honestly, I’d be surprised if William shows up at the D-Day commemoration. I don’t know precisely what’s on the calendar for D-Day, but I do know that William almost always no-shows whenever there’s an occasion when he will have to spend time with other famous and celebrated people in large numbers. I bet he sends the Edinburghs instead.

      • Becks1 says:

I think the “big” D-Day events will be in France (the ones attended by people like Macron, other foreign dignitaries, maybe other royals) – and Camilla is supposedly going to those. So William is supposed to be attending the events in England and wouldn’t it be something if that was deemed too much for him?

      • booboocita says:

Sending the Edinburghs would be one hell of an insult, seeing as how Eddie couldn’t even make it through boot camp. What’s he got to say about battle-hardened vets?

      • Christine says:

At this point, it’s really clear that Edward is a more functioning “senior royal” than the heir. William does not care about anything, or anyone.

    • BeanieBean says:

Since when does William care–or even think–about whether something he does/doesn’t do looks bad?

      • Lorelei says:

I guess he’s over his short-lived “global statesman” phase 🙄

      • Christine says:

Seriously, Lorelei, it was the most “blink and you’ll miss it” of all time. Solving homelessness and bringing about Middle East peace? Never mind, I only work from home, you’ll maybe see me once a week, at best.

      • Lorelei says:

@Christine, William really is so Trumpian…these grandiose promises followed up with nothing

  7. Cessily says:

Obviously the half in half out needed to be rebranded for him to take the Sussex’s suggestion that he vetoed to make it his own. So now it’s not half in half out it’s being Royal from home🤔.. the spin they put on this makes me 😵‍💫 dizzy, no matter what you call it doing two events one day a week is a three quarters “Out” Royal .

    • Becks1 says:

Yes, he’s going back to being a barely part time royal and he can do that now because he has the duchy money and isn’t reliant on funding from his father for his lifestyle.

      • Lynwall says:

I am sorry…did he do more than 2 events per week before???
As far asbI am concerned, things will be progressing as normal.

      • Becks1 says:

No! He’s never actually been “full time” but its been a few years since he just out and out admitted he wasn’t going to work more than the bare minimum, lol.

    • jemmy says:

Royal WFH= I need more time dedicated ,monitoring , smearing & learning how to cosplay my Brother &SIL

    • jais says:

Oh yeah, absolutely @cessily. Being a three quarters out royal is the new half-in half-out. Harry had his fractions wrong😂. William is just setting the expectations. I don’t believe that even if/when people get healthier, he will change this schedule. He’ll talk about how efficient he found it to be and continue on with the 3/4 out model.

      • Unblinkered says:

Likely to be a spot-on forecast.

Wonder if his new Private Secretary has started looking through Situations Vacant websites yet. The sooner he quits the sooner it’ll all be behind him, like KM’s new Private Secretary who quit before she even started beginning of last year.

    • WiththeAmerican says:

You see, 3/4 out is patriotic and proof of duty, whereas 1/2 out is lazy and entitled.

The level of “service” (drinking with celebrities and sports games) William gives is truly inspirational to welfare recipients everywhere.

  8. Tessa says:

William would not be named regent. Charles is doing light work now and is not incapacitated.

  9. Brassy Rebel says:

That poor chef, tasked with babysitting W’s useless arse, looks very much over it. And since it’s only the middle of April, excusing Kate and William through June will only raise more questions. Finally, when has this dude ever done more than one or two events per week? Since the first of the year, he hasn’t done any most weeks. The British people really need to ask themselves why they are paying for this. (Usually, you “ambush” someone with weapons, not well wishes.)

  10. Eurydice says:

“They share that same sense of commitment and service.” Yes, as in none.

Poor Rebecca, trying so hard to turn this into some kind of romance novel, with manly Prince William viewing the *two* get well cards – he has to keep a stiff upper lip for the nation, but she can tell he’s crying inside.

If William’s schedule will be “at a similar pace to February and March,” wouldn’t that be more like once or twice a month?

    • WiththeAmerican says:

Every other adult — including cancer stricken King Charles (who has to return to London for his treatment unlike AI Kate, who gets chemo whilst on vacation in the country apparently), has to show up in their lives even under duress.

Not William. He’s a large, middle aged baby who has servants and round the clock nurses for his “getting stronger every day” AI wife, but he can’t handle showing up to “work” more than a few hours a month.

What exactly does this man do, because he didn’t show up at the hospital to see Kate, so he isn’t the caretaking type. What is he doing?

    • Sunday says:

I appreciate Rebecca English’s everlasting commitment to breathless, overwrought dramatization, it makes it that much easier to spot it for the completely delusional fantasy that it is.

      • Lorelei says:

@Sunday, lmao. English has absolutely no shame. I wonder if she has even the slightest clue that she sounds completely ridiculous every time she dramatizes her encounters with William.

  11. M says:

He’s a joke. And I seriously have a hard time buying anything they say about Kate when all they’ve done since January is lie. Almost 4 full months and not one person has verifiably seen Kate in public. It’s gone beyond weird.

    • Tessa says:

So Kate probably will not be seen for another few months. I wonder if another video will be sent out.

    • DetachedObserver says:

Maybe he’s completely wracked with guilt about something and has just given up trying to keep up the facade.

  12. Tessa says:

They are ordinary children. More of the they are so normal spin. Not everyone can live in lavish country estates

    • Saucy&Sassy says:

Tessa, that caught my eye, too. Are they saying they are normal children of privilege? Wow, someone is going for that middle class thing again. I’m more interested in how they’re being taught the the issues of being inside the Monarchy. You know, the whole ‘you must do anything in order to support and make the Monarch look good’ stuff.

  13. SURE says:

English is just confirming that K’s skipping girl video is at odds with her having had serious abdominal surgery and gruelling chemo. It’s a pity she didn’t make eye contact with W and ask him why he colluded with The Scum on the release of that footage. More pointedly, why didn’t she ask him if that really was the two of them in that video. As far as I know, KP still hasn’t answered that question.

    • ML says:

I love how The Sun came out and said that KP verified that farm store video on camera. Obviously, K with the health issues is not the same woman as the skipper on video. The public relations snafu behind that—and KP has never taken it back—is mind-boggling.
Unfortunately, I know too many people who have had cancer. One of the things I learned is that often, people feel better before treatment (depending on the cancer and when it’s caught). Chemotherapy does a number on you. I believe that K had something hairy and is not well.
I also believe that this should never have prevented W from getting out and going to events—especially during the week when the kids are in school. And during the evenings from time to time. What’s wrong with William?

    • WiththeAmerican says:

The farm video (of a much younger woman) was fed to the public as “healthy Kate!” But now she’s undertaking grueling chemo, that was started before that video supposedly was captured.

The lies and deception are absolutely outrageous and yet, the entire British media is pretending it all makes sense. No story here.

  14. Harper says:

Is there some kind of chatbot Tom Sykes uses to take the most basic human interaction and churn out copy describing it as some heinous act of war against his precious prince?

    • Agnes says:

His writing style is known as “boot-licking servile snake.” I bet he’s besties with Simon Case.

      • WiththeAmerican says:

I cringed in second hand embarrassment for Tom Sykes with this title. Literally, his title is a propaganda lie. William was not ambushed with get well cards. A nervous woman gave him two cards.

This really is a basic interaction that any other adult could have managed. “Thank you for your well wishes,” and back to business.

I wouldn’t be surprised were Sykes to be diapering William next.

      • Over it says:

Lol. I do agree with all of you . The chef is so over eggplant wank and his performative bs. He is like can you imagine I got out of bed this cold morning to have to deal with this clown . Wtf have I done to deserve this?

  15. Becks1 says:

So this will be different from his normal schedule how? He’ll do one or two events a week, he’ll show up for TTC and big events like D-Day b/c he basically has to, and he may deign to attend a garden party.

How is that different from his normal schedule?

And how is Kate still recovering from abdominal surgery? That doesn’t track with traveling in helicopters all over England, walking jauntily through the farm stand (if we’re playing along with KP and accepting that was Kate), etc. And during whatever surgery it was, cancer “had been present” and she was doing well and “getting better every day” but now she’s so sick that William can’t leave her side for more than one day a week?

Also note how it means he won’t leave the kids for more than one day a week – but we’ve been told they’ve been in school this whole time and he’s doing the school run, so how would they know (or care) what he does while they’re gone all day?

Even now KP is still mismanaging this to such a large extent that its mindboggling.

    • Rapunzel says:

And, my biggest question: why was the car photo with Carole banned from publication by the British press? Why didn’t they want us to see that photo? Because Carole had a rental car? Why did she have a rental car? Is Kate even in England?

And If the kids are still in school, why has there been no confirmation of this from independent witnesses? Where are the children?

      • Becks1 says:

That was such a weird move from KP because it told us that every other picture we see of W&K “off duty” is authorized more or less by KP (including the farm stand video – whether or not its Kate, KP was okay with the Sun or the Express or whoever running it). Like why not just let the picture go? It was already out there, people in the UK have internet and can see things on social media even if the DM isn’t posting it.

      • Sunday says:

The car photo with Carole proved that Will was lying about doing the school runs. It was allegedly taken at a time and place where Carole and “Kate” were on the run (or wanted it to look like they were), sans William.

It was also the first of the series of manipulated sightings – one of my theories was that team Kate released that photo at a time when Will’s side was looking weak. The media was increasingly questioning his story and boom, we get an image that directly calls his story into even more question. Then, suddenly an avalanche of manipulated photos completely distracted from that point and ended with Kate having to take the blame for a fake photo resulting in an international k*ll order, unearthed other potentially faked historic photos, was getting all the wrong kinds of attention from reputable news sources… and THEN, the cancer announcement video, and suddenly all questions are off limits.

I think team Kate topped and tailed this bizarre series with the car photo and the bench video (maybe aided by BP at the end there), but that middle run was all KP. They went after the one skill/interest Kate has successfully linked to her royal image and ruined it to a huge extent, from the embarrassing frankenphoto to the shameful k*ll order. That was a smear campaign, straight up. But then the cancer video came out and team Will has been trying to figure out a next move ever since.

      • Becks1 says:

@Sunday I roughly agree with your points. My sticking point though is – do we think KP knew that the Mothers Day frankenphoto would be called out as such? I am just not sure they’re that clever over there, you know?*

But what I do think is – if we look at what has been explicitly approved/sanctioned by William – we have the frankenphoto (which everyone now conveniently forgets was attributed to him) and the farm stand video (obviously questionable but KP has tacitly acknowledged that its real, so lets just pretend.) So those two things together put out an image of a healthy, vibrant Kate. She looked MUCH better in the mothers day photo than the car photo (which obviously makes sense since its an older pic, but again lets pretend.)

The car photo and the cancer video (which was put out by KP but apparently NOT sanctioned by William) portray a sick Kate, recovering from surgery in the former, weak and frail in the latter. They are in direct contrast to the image in the frankenphoto and the image in the farm stand video, where we see a healthy Kate recovering from surgery.

So it seems we have a back and forth here between two sides – Carole and William? Kate and William? and like you said, it will be interesting to see William’s next move.

*while I dont know if KP is astute enough to put out that photo thinking it would be called out, I think William had zero hesitation pivoting to blame it all on Kate and to take away the one thing she’s “known for” – photography. It may not have been the goal but they moved swiftly to make it happen.

      • Sunday says:

@Becks1 great point in the varying portayals of kate – that really shows the sides at play (and really indicates imho that one or both sides are being way less than truthful about the state of things).

I don’t think KP put out the frankenphoto with the intention of it being called out, I just think like most of Will’s cartoonishly hair(less)-brained schemes, this one didn’t quite go as planned and blew up in his face. The heir apparent, Will E Coyote.

As you point out, the frankenphoto shows a very healthy kate, a stark contrast to the alleged story and car pic. I think Will intended to stoke public speculation about Kate’s health while showing Kate that his team can release strategic photos too, and oh look they can easily remove her ring when they do it. Except by that point public interest was too hot and the photo was too janky to pass muster, and so Will gave up the plan and jumped straight to the last step, pointing at kate and saying “she did it!”

I’m not actually convinced the farm video came from KP. I think they put out the bogus story of the sighting, and the tabloids decided to go fishing and stir the pot with the fake video. KP acknowledged it’s real, but they sort of had to, they couldn’t say “no actually this is another very credible fake of our future head of state & consort, it’s quite easy to make those!” and Will certainly isn’t going to call out the Sun, that would put him on the same side as Harry, can’t have that. I think the “Will and Carole at the pub!” was another tabloid fishing expedition, but Will took George to the game and the tabloids were temporarily fed.

    • jais says:

Good questions. From what I can tell, he sometimes did two events on different days, as in he worked for two days. But maybe this is about drawing a line in the sand about only doing one day, two events in one day and no more. But yeah, it’s not that different. Your point about the kids is a good one. Why does he need to be home every day when they’re going to school for most it? That’s absurd. As for English’s details about Kate’s health not adding up? I kind of wonder if she knows nothing and is just spinning yarns. Bc yeah it makes no sense. English is trying to evoke sympathy for Kate so maybe she’s just playing up the details she knows. Idk, it definitely doesn’t jibe with the farm video so it seems misplayed.

      • Harper says:

He’s got to keep up the pretense that Kate is ill. Otherwise, when the time comes to announce that Kate is not responding to treatment and she is permanently benched or succumbs, it won’t seem as if she suffered from any lack of care on Huevo’s end.

    • Eurydice says:

I looked up his events from last year – 101 solo and 66 with Kate. The ones with Kate were public appearances, but a lot of his solo “events” were “received so-and-so,” “sent a video message to here-or-there,” “attended a foundation meeting,” plus the occasional investiture. I especially liked that attending the coronation was listed as work. If we eliminate the office “work,” William didn’t appear much more than a couple of times a week in 2023, anyway. So, what is he saying now? If he can’t leave Kate’s side, will he be cutting back on his office work,

I have to laugh about the farm video – they’re all pretending like it never happened.

      • Becks1 says:

He has to cut out those phone calls and zoom meetings @Eurydice. No way around it!!! It’s for the children!

      • WiththeAmerican says:

William and Kate will be the known as the disappearing monarchs. One day he could zoom once a month, and one day they took the billions and jetted off to a warmer climate, leaving Britain in the lurch.

No worries, though, Tom Sykes and Becky can still churn out the exact same pieces, because it’s all fiction in their own minds at this point.

      • Eurydice says:

@WiththeAmericans – that’s a really interesting idea. How do we know if W&K and the kids haven’t already jetted off, taking the millions with them? We haven’t seen her, we haven’t seen the kids, Will shows up a couple times a month with a tan. Sykes, English and their lot have created fictional characters of W&K to write about – so, they don’t even need the real ones anymore.

      • WiththeAmerican says:

@Eurydice right? I am always asking “what does this buy the people who are doing it?”

Putting aside well examined theories of divorce and death (neither of which I subscribe to), right now, no one has any clue where Kate and their children are, and only see William once a month or so. They could be anywhere, living off of British taxpayers, getting tan and drunk daily as is their inclination.

They’ve got an entire media machine devoted to pushing fantasy articles about them, including “seeing them” in a helicopter but not supplying a photo to corroborate.

And everyone has been shamed into going along with it.

They have all of that money and they’ve basically disappeared.

    • ML says:

It’s only different from his normal routine in that he’s actually doing less. I would dearly love to know what his issues are, because this is in no way, shape, or form normal.
Kate: I happen to know someone who had Crohn’s and when other therapies didn’t help, she was put on chemotherapy to get her disease under control. This is not why K has been given chemotherapy, but Crohn’s can be incredibly nasty and so can cancer…I believe that K isn’t well, and depending on what she has, it could be hairier than KC’s cancer.
The Carole photo: the message was K isn’t healthy and that ran counter to W’s and/or KP’s message. I’m still curious.
The kids: If the BM pays someone off, it’s something that could boomerang on them. Clearly the leaker would be made to pay, but could the papers even publish the information? I think they’d legally and public-opinion wise be in a bind.

  16. Amy Bee says:

Wasn’t that his schedule before Kate got cancer?

  17. EasternViolet says:

I still don’t understand the concept of “grueling preventative chemotherapy”. Why add the “preventative”? Sounds like plain old grueling chemo. I get a form a preventative chemotherapy which are two types of monoclonal antibodies every month. I have to get hooked up to an IV, an hr later its done— and there are no side effects. I have never heard of this grueling preventative therapy. Anyone else?

    • Eurydice says:

From what I can tell, it is plain old chemo, but it’s called adjuvant chemo because of its purpose, which is to clean up cancer cells after primary treatment, like surgery. I don’t think they bother to do this for early-stage cancers or at all for certain cancers, more for breast or colon cancer – but maybe others know better.

I get a 3-hour infusion every 4 months and the process isn’t grueling at all – a book, some snacks and if I’m lucky I get the massage chair – but I can imagine that the side effects could be grueling. And who knows, maybe Kate is losing her hair?

    • ML says:

EasternViolet, It might depend on the type of chemo and what she’s initially been suffering from? I friend of mine has had low-dose chemotherapy every Friday for rheumatoid arthritis. She’s wiped out every Friday and Saturday she’s still quite tired. I also knew a woman (since passed away) who needed chemotherapy for Crohn’s. She actually had no body hair and mostly had to stop working. My mom had adjuvant chemotherapy after surgery and radiation and she was tired from it, but she’s since recovered. Does K still have issues with the initial diagnosis?

    • WiththeAmerican says:

I have a friend who gets monthly chemo and he’s never uttered a complaint other than being bored. He has a full time job, a family, and he travels.

Sure, it’s different for everyone, but the things they tell us about Kate’s specific condition and treatment don’t add up. we are told by her that she does not have cancer, this is just preventive.

Yet she can’t be seen by the public or the press at all, even in a helicopter they claim she’s in, and William can’t work.

  18. Sasatea says:

There’s a woman right now documenting her cancer progress while also being a med student and she just got hospitalized again due to N excess of fluid in her lungs bur this man with all the luxuries in his life…..

  19. Enthusiast says:

It was upsetting to watch Volunteer Candappa curtsey to an utterly undeserving will. She lives in a different moral universe and is his superior.

    • BeanieBean says:

Agreed. I felt badly for her when he did his best to brush her off & rush her through what she was trying to convey. She had sympathy & empathy for her fellow & sister human beings, he just doesn’t.

    • QuiteContrary says:

It infuriated me, actually. The notion of curtseying to anyone is repellent, but to curtsey to this good-for-nothing slacker??

  20. Jais says:

WFH Willy is going to do limited events, as in once a week, for the foreseeable future. Hmm, I think foreseeable future means forever. He will be working once a week forever. That’s how his reign will be so get used to it.

  21. First comment says:

“Indeed, only the couple’s closest aides have seen or even spoken to the prince or princess in recent weeks, emphasising the need for them to retreat and regroup as a family.” Isn’t that a little weird? I mean, I understand the need to regroup and enforce their bond but they needed a whole month? Without interacting with nobody else apart from the servants? Is that normal? Wouldn’t it be better for the children to have other children around them or their friends? Has he even met with his father who also suffers from cancer and he is undergoing a serious treatment as well? Has he even met his father since January? Even Kate allegedly met him…Something isn’t right…

    • Becks1 says:

It is weird, especially as we’ve been told they are BOTH working behind the scenes, Kate is working from her sickbed, etc.

    • DetachedObserver says:

“Indeed, only the couple’s closest aides have seen or even spoken to the prince or princess in recent weeks, emphasising the need for them to retreat and regroup as a family.”

Reads like a call out to me. Reminding us that they aren’t being seen. By anyone.

  22. Lulu says:

My money says Kate and the kids will be on the balcony at Trooping. It will be a surprise and the tabloids will have hundreds of posts about her.

    • Tessa says:

He may just show up with George. Kate and the younger children have not been seen.

    • Julia says:

I think it depends what she looks like. If she had to fake Mother’s Day photo because she was worried about optics she is not going to appear anywhere in public where the cameras can get a clear view of her if she doesn’t think she looks her best after months of chemotherapy.

    • Becks1 says:

I don’t think Charles will allow a balcony appearance from her unless she’s done a public engagement or two prior to that. He wants the trooping to be all about HIM.

      • TN Democrat says:

I agree. Charles waited 70 plus years to be King and and will be the center of attention as long as possible. He won’t be upstaged by a married-in. I really don’t think Kate will be seen at any events this year and William will milk her absence to justify doing even fewer events than he has in past years.

    • Dilettante says:

The kids, yes. Kate no. I’d be surprised if we ever see her again except in an AI video. Why is William the RF pariah?

  23. Can all the “He wants to divorce her” people please recalibrate?

She is his get out of work for life cancer wife

    • SussexWatcher says:

Oh he’ll just find some other way to spin it to get out of work and be his lazy self. My first thought with the “he’ll take care of her” quote was, yeah, he already did. She’s never coming back. So whether it’s a divorce or her death after this apparently extremely serious abdominal surgery (different to what they said at the time) and long bout with cancer (also different to what she said in the AI video about “doing well” and “getting better everyday”), the Cracked Huevo and his minions will find some way to spin it.

For divorce, he could easily just say in a year that they have mutually decided to divorce for the sake of the monarchy. That Kate feels it would be unfair for Huevo to have a wife who is unable to do the job and he is just respecting her wishes. None of that would be true but he could say whatever he wanted and blame it on her. Then he’ll spend the next decade mourning the end of his marriage and being a single dad. And then his kids will be old enough to work in his place. Meanwhile the press will start leaking stories about Keen the racist, spilling Middleton secrets, etc to tear her down and prop up the lazy Egg.

    • Becks1 says:

Oh don’t worry, he can get out of work with a divorce – he needs to “be there for the kids” and he’ll work even less because hes so “hands on” and SCHOOL RUN etc.

But, this fits with what I said yesterday – having a sick wife who cannot be seen in public gives him the one thing that a divorce gives him that their current (separate) living situations do not – it means he doesn’t have to be around her in public. And that’s what I’ve always thought would be what prompted the divorce -he cannot stand to be around her, he can’t fake it for a one hour engagement, let alone anything more significant (why do we think they’ve started bringing the kids to wimbledon and the like? buffers!)

But if she’s sick and frail and weak and can’t even be seen waving from a balcony…..then william will have managed to get exactly what he wants. Separate lives, and he doesn’t have to be seen with her in public.

    • Proud Mary says:

Well, if she remains hidden, and they never announce the divorce, that’s one way he can get away with it. I mean, the woman has not been seen in public for 4 months; and now it’s looking more like she’ll be gone for the rest of the year?

  24. Laura D says:

Let’s be frank here. If he manages to do one or two events with the public every week, week in week out it’ll be a huge improvement in what he’s done so far this year. I’ll give it a week before he’s back to his random one visit every month or so. It’s a shame really because he could shine a spotlight on many worthy causes if he chose to do so.

    • SarahCS says:

But not in the school holidays, that takes him out for about 1/3 of the year already.

I completely agree that he’ll be back to ‘once in a while when I can be bothered’ asap.

      • Lady Digby says:

As private school enjoy 19 weeks holiday that is the equivalent of 5 months annual leave so it is more like 60/40. Now he wants to just do 1 or 2 engagements a week so I would describe that as dabbling rather than, ahem, part time “work!” Any other description for such ” commitment”?

  25. Proud Mary says:

KP sure is acting like the cancer video did enough to shut down any inquiries about Kate. So Kate will probably be gone for the rest of the year, and they expect no-one to ask any questions? I remain highly skeptical about the story she told, because it sounds so similar to Charles’. Not only that, why did the palace say nothing when Caroline Molone said Charles did not have cancer? Now we see William being rather dismissive of well-wishes sent to Kate and Charles. Is it because he knows they don’t have cancer, or does he just despise them both? Also, I guess I just don’t know much about cancer treatments, but how is it that this many months since her diagnosis, she’ still needs “aggressive chemo” for “preventive” measures? How does it make sense that the woman in the farm stand video needs “aggressive” cancer treatment?

  26. Mads says:

I’ve really tried to not get sucked into the conspiracy theories about Kate and this article by Becky English raises so many questions. How is Kate receiving the gruelling preventative chemotherapy? Was she being helicoptered down from Norfolk to London each week when she was there for the Easter break? I doubt she’s travelling to the local NHS hospital in King’s Lynn. We see shots of Charles being driven out of BP once he has flown in from Sandringham or Balmoral to attend his appointments yet no sightings or mentions of the logistics surrounding her treatments. I know William and KP are fiercely working to maintain a blackout on her health but not even a mention of “how tiring” the travelling to her appointments is. It’s so shady.

    • WiththeAmerican says:

I’m with you. Yet again, we saw KC at the hospital we saw him leave, we saw his wife visit. We see him go to treatments.

We see none of these things with Kate. We haven’t seen her in public since Christmas of 23. No one visited her in hospital except her husband for 15 minutes one day. We don’t see her helicoptered back for treatments and we know she’s not going to a public hospital.

If the King can’t have his chemo /treatment come to him, a less powerful married in certainly can’t. It makes no sense. The KP narratives clash and don’t mesh.

    • Rnot says:

That’s the least remarkable thing about it to me. They built a whole operating theater in Buckingham Palace when Elizabeth’s dad had lung cancer. I don’t THINK they’d do home surgery these days, but chemotherapy? Sure. The mountain comes to the royals, they don’t sit in waiting rooms with the unwashed.

      • WiththeAmerican says:

That would make sense, but it begs the question: why does the King come in to London for his treatments every week?

  27. Slippers4life says:

You know, William and Kate have historically always been lazy and spoiled. Do I believe William is exploiting his wife’s cancer diagnosis to justify his ongoing laziness and spoiledness? Probably.

However, I do believe in the right to be sick. I believe if we have cancer and working and going to school is our choice than we should have the right to do so. If we choose to rest and heal, we should have the right to do so. If we need to take time off to wrap around our sick loved ones, I believe we should have the right to do so. This should not be a privilege afforded only to the wealthy.

Honestly, if William truly is taking time off to care for his wife with cancer, he should have the right to do that as should everyone else. Do I believe he is, well, no, but I’m sad with the unintended consequences that come with calling it “lazy” to not be working while also battling cancer or while supporting a loved one battling cancer.

The issue here is inequality. Let’s not unintentuonally perpetuate capitalism influencing what medical advice we do or dont take. I hope we can be more aware and careful when we are having reactions to “inspiration porn” like when it’s reported someone with cancer accomplished something great so if you take time to heal when you get cancer you’re lazy.

If you have cancer and you want to work than that should be your right and resting and taking care of yourself and loved ones should also be your right. William and Kate have historically been a-holes, but when we send messages that it’s lazy to take time off to heal from cancer or take care of loved ones with cancer and ONLY praise people who accomplish things during a cancer battle we are unintentionally perpetuating inequality.

I hope we can do better to say the privileges currently being afforded to William and Kate should actually be a RIGHT for ALL!

    • Becks1 says:

So I agree with you generally – we have lots of stories of people working through cancer treatments but I don’t think its a moral failing if someone doesn’t want to be taking phone calls while receiving infusions etc.

But there are a few other things at play here:

This luxury of just not working for months is not something that is afforded to most people like you have said. If I wanted to take off for months while receiving chemo or the like, I could – but it would come out of my sick or annual leave (and I happen to have a job that is very generous with leave). If I run out of that, there are other provisions at my work to allow me to continue to get paid while on leave.

And i only get that leave because I work the rest of the time. Here, William barely works – what is his average, 30 days a year? So for both him AND Kate to expect several months off work while they barely work the rest of the time and while they are not advocating for the same for other sick people – nah. This is just entitlement and laziness.

Charles is not getting the same criticism for taking time off/ his extremely reduced schedule because he has a history of working consistently when he is NOT sick. So the entitlement and laziness are not the same here.

    • WiththeAmerican says:

I get your point but I don’t think it applies here, because what William is doing is abdicating from his responsibilities and his entire life.

He has full time taxpayer funded servants. His wife has taxpayer funded round the clock nurses, cooks, nannies, maids, drivers, etc.

The bare minimum for him is to show up for his dad who has cancer, but he doesn’t. He didn’t show up to a memorial for his godfather. On and on it goes.

This isn’t about the right to take a sick leave, Kate is taking one and they didn’t ask permission nor are they taking a pay cut or explaining exactly why she can skip through a farm and travel for vacation but not even wave at the public from a car. William has taken a sick leave for her as well, but still being paid £127,000 a day.

This isn’t about sick leave, it’s about abdication of all responsibility and duty to life. William is supposed to be the future King. kings don’t get to quiet quit. And with that responsibility, they get billions in wealth, lavish homes and vehicles and vacations and clothes and people worshipping them. But there is some responsibility.

Ironically to your comment, were they to do away with the monarchy, regular people could get better care and maybe get a better sick leave.

    • BeanieBean says:

I also agree with your overall sentiment. The issue here is, most of us don’t believe the stories we’re being told about Kate & her alleged cancer diagnosis. There’s also some doubtful stuff dancing around the edges of Charles’ diagnosis. And then, of course, there’s doubt that William actually is ‘taking care of’ his wife.

    • HuffnPuff says:

I agree with the rest. If this is a statement about taking time to heal then say that. Advocate for everyone to have that privilege. But they aren’t and they won’t. They think the rules don’t apply to them and that they should get just as much pity if not more. It’s gross.

  28. Lady Digby says:

There a lot of choice comments under the Fail article who aren’t seeing the bravery of Will for jacking his existing light schedule to feel sorry for himself at the tax payer’s expense. Many coping with cancer themselves or caring for a partner plus upset children, demanding jobs, household tasks and paying bills are calling him out for his privilege.
Yes there are supportive comments from sympathetic because of him being him with a double whammy which might catapult onto the throne before long. Also they claim public engagements are only ,,90% of his role and his main role is running the dutchy. Charles spent decades as PoW running the dutchy and performing 500+ public duties as well, so why can’t Will?

    • WiththeAmerican says:

William is an infant. Bill the Enfant Terrible. Expectations have been adjusted accordingly.

    • Pinkosaurus says:

Thanks for venturing into the cesspool of the comments and reporting back! So many of the positive comments are clearly from KP purchased bots. It’s always interesting to see when the Fail alllows critical comments to stay and doesn’t delete or bury them.

    • LRB says:

Whilst I do think Charles was more involved in the Duchy, there is no way he ran it. It a huge investment and will have a full team of very experienced individuals doing the work. I suspect Charles got involved in the Strategy – ie things he would like to see done, introducing eco friendly practices , farms going organic etc, but he certainly wasn’t doing the actual work. Willi on the other hand I think just asks how much money is going into his account at the end of the month.

  31. aquarius64 says:

I think William still wants out of his marriage to Kate; and the cancer announcement has signed Kate’s death warrant. Tin foil tiara: how easy would it be for the Firm to arrange for a doctor to have Kate leave this life, similar to what they did to George V? Kate fading away from public life lays the groundwork she is turning for the worse and sadly she succumbs. The Middletons are not in control; sure they get their press mouthpieces going and let Uncle Gary acr a fool but the BRF is playing the long game. The Windsors will never let these upstarts from the coal mines run them.
William is impatient but he knows complete freedom is his as a widower. The Firm will take control of the kids and the Middleton will have little to no contact.

So tell me, is bitchy English steaming open cards or did she waterboard the poor “placed” woman till she told her what was in the card!! And really Quinn, one woman (planted) giving Billy two cards, one for his soon to be exwife and the other for his father is nothing to write about, not with all those people around that could have done the same, all you’ve done is emphasise the fact that 90% of people don’t give a sht about your family anymore. I must phone the met Office, because there has been a lot of rain in this country, a very few brightish cold days, but Anmer must have it’s very own climate control because Billy has a tan! And I want 10 minutes with the lieing bsd, to talk about what real cancer sufferers go through 24 /7.

Mary Pester, I think the fact that so many of us have a hard time believing she is being treated for cancer is a core issue here. Sure, she could be suffering from something else and is slowly recovering. Why didn’t/doesn’t KP just say that? They don’t need to give a diagnosis. Why are we always hearing about her being out and about (the market and Anmer vacation), but she’s never seen in a car coming or going for chemo? People who have cancer, have family with cancer or friends with cancer are angry because they think they’re being played. I think coupled with the fact that they are privileged and get the type of medical treatment that the rest of the people could only dream of, and continues to tell people how privileged they are, adds a layer of resentment.

I’m really sorry that they keep throwing this in your face and in the face of others with cancer. I’m sending you positive energy and prayers.

    • Liz says:

💯🎯 spot on Aquarius 64. It wouldn’t be too difficult to arrange for them. They have enormous wealth & power at their disposal.

The Mids wouldn’t go against them. They know what happens to those who do. Diana and the car ‘accident’ that she herself saw coming. The ambulance that took hours to get her to a hospital whilst trying to ‘save’ her.

  32. Jay says:

Good luck getting either of those cards to their intended recipients – TOB still hasn’t been seen with Charles and it’s doubtful he’s seen Kate recently, either, to pass on those well wishes. You’d be better off sending them through the mail, ma’am!

It’s fascinating and telling that William seems irritated by the mere mention of his wife, for whom he is supposedly taking so much time off from his “work” to “care” for. Even Becky English can’t smooth those ragged edges into anything other than petulance. It’s the selfish person’s conundrum: He can’t handle the attention not being solely on himself, yet he seems angry that he is forced to do any events at all. Not a great recipe for a future head of state.

  33. Lau says:

It’s easy to work from home when you don’t actually do any work.
Maybe his team talked to him about the set-up for this event when he was already two drinks in and just couldn’t remember any of it on the day. Given that he seems to be terrible at improvising you end up with some awkard scene like this one.

  34. Lulu says:

I’m old enough to remember when John McCain wanted to postpone the first debate with Barak Obama because of a US crisis (I think the financial crisis). Obama rejected the idea saying that if you are president you will need to manage many different things going on at the same time. Should the UK expect the same from the heir? Reportedly William shut down for a few days after Kate’s cancer diagnosis. I’m not heartless, that is devastating news but when he is king he will need to cope.

    • booboocita says:

No, I remember that. McCain was trying to look presidential by saying that all campaigning should be postponed so the Senate could deal with the crisis. Obama called his bluff and said yes, we should. Let’s meet in DC and discuss. McCain had evidently forgotten that Obama was a senator too. There was a “conference” at a long meeting table with McCain, Obama, and other senators. Obama was smooth as silk, talking to reporters and discussing the crisis. McCain just looked foolish and had very little to say.

If Willy ever had to meet with heads of state or legislators at any but the most facile and frivolous of events (the Mission: Impossible movie premier with Tom Cruise comes to mind), he’d be McCain-at-the-conference-table 2.0: completely out to sea. What a deeply unserious Willy is.

  35. BeanieBean says:

Sykes doesn’t know squat. His article is full of ‘it is understood’ & ‘I am told’ (by whom???). He’s making assumptions about Kate & her ‘grueling preventative chemo’. The family went somewhere over Easter break. She’s doing fine, apparently. William ‘supporting the family’ should mean showing up & being visible. That’s the job, that’s the family; they’re intertwined.

    • WiththeAmerican says:

I’m told she bravely spent her days drinking in a Mustique beach house, like all normal people do, whilst undergoing “grueling chemo.”

It is understood that Sainthood is on the table for the Princess, because nobody quiet quits better.

She of the Royal blood, whose BIL misses her so much he can barely stand all of his winning, showing us peasants what bravery is by hiding with a mere £127,000 a day. The courage is breathtaking!

  36. LadyUltimate says:

If your entire job (and really your raison d’être, for that matter) is, by definition, a representative one, how can you do it if you don’t represent and not show yourself? This whole thing is such a farce.

  37. Teagirl says:

Many people, myself included, believe that William does what he likes now because he’s got the Duchy money. What I would really like to know is what did Charles think he was doing by giving the PoW title to William so early in his reign? Did he think he would make William step up to the job? Epic fail, if that was the reasoning.

    • Tina says:

I thought he did it to trap William in that marriage. Divorcing the Duchess of Cambridge would have been a lot easier than another divorced Priness of wales. Ok going to go outside and touch grass now lol.

    • tamsin says:

I think Charles named William the Prince of Wales so quickly to erase Diana. All the time Charles was married to Camilla, Diana was still the Princess of Wales. If he had not declared William and Kate as the new Prince and Princess of Wales, it would still be the image of Diana as the Princess of Wales. The press would still be able to keep talking about the Princess of Wales, and it would still be Diana.

      • Tina says:

Hasn’t thought about that but that is a very good point

      • Saucy&Sassy says:

Tamsin, the problem the press have is that Kate Middleton has been used for a couple of decades now. I think more people think of Diana when they think of the Princess of Wales than they do KM. She’s pretty much just known as KM.

      • Unblinkered says:

Everyone I know refers to her as KM, it’s Diana who’ll forever be associated with the PoW title. And Diana as the owner of the Big Blue engagement ring. No bad reason, that’s just how the UK public see it.

      • Feeshalori says:

Legally, Camilla was the Princess of Wales as Charles’ wife, but never used it since the public would have never accepted Camilla as POW. Diana OWNED that title.

    • Rnot says:

The PoW title isn’t the one that’s tied to the money. It comes from the Duchy of Cornwall. He automatically became the Duke of Cornwall when Charles became king.

    • Square2 says:

@TEAGIRL I thought it’s political. He did it so quickly before the Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 could demand the title be vacant or be giving to (rightfully, IMO) a Welsh.

  38. Norvy says:

These people are some lazy MFers. It’s amazing how the British people pay these people to represent them, yet they do no work whatsoever. Prince William and Kate do everything possible to delay their royal responsibilities.

  39. Julianna says:

So, was Kate traveling back and forth from Norfolk to London getting her supposed treatments while she was on yet another vacation? Chuck is seen coming and going but not once has Kate been pictured coming to and forth the hospital or anywhere for that matter. They can picture them leaving in the helicopter to Norfolk but not show her in it or walking to it? She has NOT been seen since Christmas.

None of this makes sense. And Williams previous years of “work” never consisted of full time. It was full of meetings and the like and plenty of vacations. He has never consistently showed up once or twice a week unless Harry was out and about. Now, he is just advertising his laziness.

None of their lies make any sense. They completely pretend the Farm Video of spritely 20 yo Kate skipping around it didn’t happen two days before her AI cancer announcement where she looked completely different. Somehow Kate managed to be hospitalized at the same exact hospital at the same exact time and was discharged on the same day as Charles but absolutely no one saw her leave. We saw Charles leave. We saw Camilla come and go multiple times. But only once we saw William (who cares so much for Kate) visit once in a 2 wk timeframe for 15 minutes. Then cancer is suddenly discovered almost 6 wks later after her surgery and after Charles reports they also found cancer. All we have seen of Kate is AI manipulated blurry photos and videos and body doubles. And we know they colluded with the SUN on that sighting stunt because they told us they did. I could keep going with all of their lies and fraud…

I don’t believe a word they say. They are LIARS and something has obviously happened behind the scenes to Kate that they aren’t telling us.

    • Mary Pester says:

@saucy&sassy, yes your right it does get to me. Not because I’m selfish or think no-one else with cancer doesn’t get pissed of with this. It’s because bone said in her own words (with her two sets of lower teeth 😂) that she had HAD cancer and is taking a profelactic. Now my first cancer was at the age of 30. I went through surgery, and chemo, then had to take a profelactic for 6 months afterwards. I had my 3 lovely children at home and zero maids, nannies or family close enough to help. But this pampered little diva is lapping up the media attention because her soon to be ex husband isn’t! That’s of course if she’s still with us. I do have some hot t, but I need to wait until Monday, as Heather wants to be doubly sure of her facts before I tell you all, stay tuned!!

      • Unblinkered says:

Will look forward to hearing it Mary.

      • Avonan says:

I’ll be waiting with bated breath 😳for Monday’s hot tea, Mary! 🫖 Have a good weekend!

      • Saucy&Sassy says:

Mary Pester, we’ll all be waiting to hear what you have to spill! Keep on keeping on!

      • Jaded says:

Yup. “Finding some cancer cells” does not equate to full on cancer requiring months of chemo, radiation, immunology treatments or whatever.

Looking forward to your hot tea lovey, have a good weekend!

  41. Julianna says:

I just looked at the pictures again of the cook and he was NOT having it haha. He saw right through Peg. I saw a video of the cook talking on Twitter and he talked about how much he cared doing what he did because he was helping others. It was really genuine and I think he saw right through William the moment he walked his lazy, clown self through the door. He knew Peg was there for PR and PR only. The look on his face in every picture were priceless!

  42. Over it says:

I went straight to write before I read . I just wanted to say that William is a lazy ass. A lazy self entitled ass – – . A lazy self entitled pampered ass. I am so sick of this man who gets millions a year just sitting on his ass while regular people who have to work to live and pay their way through life get nothing. He isn’t doing anything that the world couldn’t do without. If he never shows his incompetence incandescent ass again it would make zero difference to anyone. So i would like him to stop acting like he matters. He doesn’t. I want him to do whatever he wants however on his own dime . He should not receive any money from the public or government for anything, nor for security, not for house not for clothing. Nothing. He wants to not work, then go and see how regular folks who don’t work get by . He doesn’t deserve to be pampered when he doesn’t do anything to for it . I am so sick of him . Take all the properties and cars and jewelry and anything associated with the crown. He should go to housing he can afford out of his own non royal pocket. As In a regular job salary and the palaces can be rented out to help the regular people.

  43. Libra says:

Home care nurses give chemo at home, especially if they have an implanted port. Maybe this is why no Kate sightings. Don’t know if this service exists in England or not.

    • QuiteContrary says:

If it exists for anyone, I’m sure it exists for the royals. All part of the bowing and scraping, the special treatment and the special dispensations they get because their ancestors managed to convince people they were divinely ordained.

    • Renae says:

Then why is Chuck traveling back and forth to London for his treatments?

  44. bisynaptic says:

If he thinks that was a distraction, he doesn’t understand the job.

  45. sammi says:

Wow…Willy is doubling his work load….twice a week!

Charles does not have cancer – Carole Malone said so on live TV and says she knows what he has got. No come back againgst her from Palace or Press but Jeremy Vine has removed this show from You tube but it is available on another you tube channel .

Kate said she does not have cancer but is taking preventative medication

    • ohwell says:

I knew it! Charles is a man of extremely low character.

    • Liz says:

I hadn’t seen that Sammi – what a bunch!! Lying to people, many of whom are going through illness, about illness. Unbelievable

  46. Square2 says:

William is an IMPOSTOR. Of his previous jobs, current job and future jobs. Unfortunately he is also shameless enough & not self-aware enough to experience Imposter Syndrome. Well good luck Britians, this is your FK.

  47. Anna M says:

He probably doesn’t even like to cook but since Meghan is making jam and doing a cooking show, his first event is in the kitchen with an apron. Translation, he really is competing with Meghan even more than his brother Harry, he wants Meghan’s talents, shine and accolades.
