Natalie Portman is pantless & sexy-faced on Elle UK cover

elle-uk-portman

There’s not really anything wrong with Elle UK’s February cover, but it still annoys me. Sure, Natalie Portman looks gorgeous, per usual. I can’t think of any time where I haven’t stopped dead in my tracks and thought “there’s no possible way to take a bad picture of her.” So, that’s fine. I guess it’s the outfit that annoys me. She’s pantless and wearing a puffy shirt or wrap or something. It’s not cute. The Jezebel girls called this cover “Natalie Portman’s Elle UK Cover Ushers In a New Decade of Sexyface” and they point out that “While nobody knows what this decade may bring, fashion-wise, I think it’s safe to say that the February 2010 cover of Elle UK proves that two trends of the 00s—sexyface and no-pants—haven’t died just yet.” Maybe I would like the cover better if her mouth was closed. It would be an improvement, right?

Anyhoodle, the interview from Elle UK hasn’t been released yet. I’m assuming Natalie is promoting Brothers in the interview, and I’m also assuming Natalie will continue to whine about Hollywood being a bully, and how eating meat is equivalent to rape, or talking about how she signed the Roman Polanski petition. Meh.

While I was looking for the interview online, I did find one very interesting rumor that swirling around. Apparently Natalie, Kristen Stewart and Ellen Page are all vying to play the lead (opposite George Clooney) in the American remake of the Swedish film (based on the Stieg Larsson Millennium book trilogy) The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. If you’d like to know more about the author or the trilogy, Newsweek had a really excellent piece that works as an introduction to the series. Apparently, the role Portman, Page and Stewart are vying for is Lisbeth Salander, a young, brilliant computer hacker. Clooney would be playing the cop investigating the Swedish criminal underbelly.

Now here’s a role that Kristen Stewart can really sink her teeth into. Or at least bite her lip over.

The New Moon beauty is rumored to be up for he part of hacker Lisbeth Salander in an upcoming adaptation of the Swedish film trilogy Millennium. What’s more, the top contender for the male lead in the movie is none other than George Clooney. How interesting would it to be to see those two act opposite each other?

In the original Millennium trilogy—which was adapted from Swedish author Stieg Larsson’s books—the role of Salander, a highly intelligent but antisocial and violence-prone computer hacker, was portrayed by Noomi Rapace. Sony Pictures is currently negotiating to adapt the film series.

K-Stew could have some heavy competition for the part, however; Natalie Portman and Ellen Page have both expressed interest in the role. Do you think Stewart would be a good fit for the role?

[From Celebuzz]

Kristen looks the most like the Swedish actress Noomi Rapace, but if Oscar nominees Ellen Page and Natalie Portman are vying for the role, I think Kristen might lose out. Bless her lip-biting heart. I’m actually going with Ellen Page on this one – I think she’s got the acting chops to do the role.

Yeah, you look good in those photos Natalie, but it’s too late. I don’t love you anymore. It’s like seeing a gorgeous girl that when you get close to, you can’t believe the sputum coming from her mouth.

  2. LolaBella says:

She does look really beautiful in the pictures, but it doesn’t make me overlook the fact that she signed the Roman Polanski petition.

  3. BitterBetty says:

I heart all you celebitchy guys so much for calling this pedo sympathizer out in every single post. bless you.

  4. WTF?!? says:

I disagree w/her signing the Polanski petition, but I won’t judge her as a whole for one bad opinion. She’s talented, brilliant, socially and politically aware (without turning it into a PR campaign like some do), and lovely to look at.
    I still love you, Natalie!

  5. LolaBella says:

@WTF?!?: Looking at the list of people who signed that petition it is heartbreaking to see how many people had ‘one bad opinion’. It doesn’t change the fact that she is talented, it just changes some people’s perspective and opinions of her.

A few of my favorite actors are on the list and it just makes me sad and upset:

    Jeremy Irons
    Kristin Scott Thomas
    Emma Thompson
    Monica Bellucci

Yeah, it’s tough to read their names and not feel upset that they signed, IMO.

  6. e says:

PLEASE Ellen or Kristen for that role. I love the books! Natalie just annoys me to the point that I won’t be able to watch her in the movie.

  7. bros says:

yah, I read all three of the books-fabulous. couldnt put them down. I actually think ellen is too round looking to play lisbeth-she was very skinny and angular in the book. and kristen stewart has a bad case of lazyface and cant act. SO-as much as I think Natalie is a pretentious blowhard, she would be best for the role….

  8. Tess says:

Regarding the petition, the celebs who signed reinforce the impression that they are elitist twits, completely out of touch with ordinary reality.

It would be a fine irony to hear their caterwauling if their own lives were blown up by an inexcusable act of violence.

  9. Ann says:

    Natalie The Pretentious!

Stewart, Page and Portman all overrated and can’t compare to real talent and not those who are pushed by Hollywood PR teams, Anna Kendrick and Carey Mulligan.

Stewart only knows to play emo/depressed/pissed off teens with bad attitude. She needs acting lessons and thank her parents who work in the industry for roles that she gets.

  10. nona says:

I can’t believe we live in a world where N.Portman is considered the epitome of beauty. I guess we are close to Apocalypse, after all….

  11. Bodhi says:

Those books are AMAZING! CB ~ if you’re looking for something to read, I HIGHLY recomend them!

Anyhoo, I don’t think either of the 3 of them would make a good Lisbeth. Natalie is the best actress of the bunch, but she is pretentious as hell & bothers me somewhat… I don’t really know who I’d pick to play her…

  12. Open-Minded says:

“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” happens to be a New Favorite Book of mine… Amazing Twists and the lead girl- Lisbeth- happens to be someone I admire and Pretty much envy. She’s Intelligent, Witty, Sultry in her Own Way, and she Kept my pages turning!

After Seeing Natalie Portman act when she was barely 11 years old- I am convinced she can Conquer Any Role she Applies herself to- Despite What you Nit-Witted, Whiny, Ignorantly Opinionated, & Overwhelming Daft People think.

I Love How You All Enjoy Feeding off of each others Negativity- and Cutting Down Celebrities over decisions They have Made, Clothes they Wear, LIPS they Happen to Part, Panties they Decide Not to Wear-when the Majority of you Can’t escape your Own Self Degradations.

I Love Ellen Page & the Roles she commits to-She definitely has the Intelligent & Witty Down Pat… But the Character Lisbeth Salander also has a Sexual Appeal that Drives the Lead Detective Crazy- and I think Kristen Stewart could Definitely Pull that off well..

It wouldn’t disappoint me to see Any of these Mentioned ladies play Lisbeth- I wish them All Luck & Charm to Dazzle the Director…And THAT is JUST my opinion.. So Go Ahead you little Piranhas..Attack.

  13. Firestarter says:

@LolaBella- Didn’t Emma remove her name from the petition?

As for Portman. I cannot stand her. Talk about an overrated actress. Last good thing I saw her do was The Professional, when she was a child.

  14. LolaBella says:

@Firestarter: I believe she did (or at least was actively working towards getting it removed), it was just sad to see that she felt pressured into signing it in the first place.

  15. Lenore says:

Have any of these celebs actually gone on the record justifying their signing of that petition? As in, giving reasons beyond the asinine bullshit statement that accompanied their names?

  16. Firestarter says:

@LolaBella- Yes, you are right, it is sad to see that she was on it in the first place.

Lenore, I haven’t heard of any legit reasons for people signing the petition other than “He’s a brilliant director, great husband and father, yadda, yadda” So no, most reasons are asinine!

  17. Zzzzzzzzzz says:

Who cares that a bunch of celebrities signed some petition? What’s that going to change? The Swiss are hardly going to hand him over because Hollywood celebrities say so. Mr. Polanski is going to get what’s coming to him, one way or the other.

Natalie is beautiful. She just is. And she’s very photogenic. I have yet to see a bad picture of her. And I’m sorry, I can’t hate on her these days, not after the brilliant ‘Brothers’ and the hilarious Unscripted interview with her, Jake and Tobey.

Speaking of which, now that Jake and Reese are over, what say he and Natalie (finally!) hook up? I like!

  18. BitterBetty says:

Natalie ruined brothers. her performance was robotic and emotionally vacant like always, and she’s just not a believable grown woman / mother.

    And bubble boy is gay.

  19. Sakota says:

She is gorgeous, no one can deny that. What cannot be denied is that she isn’t good at acting and she is hopelessly ungrateful for everything. The Star Wars series was a complete mess up because she didn’t age, despite being years older than Annikan, despite all the stress of people trying to kill her, and the fact that she is part of film history as a result of her being part of the trilogy.

She’s always whining and dscribing herself as an angst filled artist and I suppose she signed that petition becuse she ‘feels’ Polanski is being persecuted. If I had her wealth, looks, and life I would be praising God to the skies and be grateful and would thank my fans for going to my movies and my manager for getting me into film history.

  20. cubesque says:

I vote for Carey Mulligan. The books are amazing. I wouldn’t be able to bear see them ruined by Kristen ‘where’s my bong’ Stewart. Ellen Page doesn’t fit the physical description while Portman is too old to convincingly play the part of a 26 year old girl who looks 16. Carey could nail the part. Not sure if Clooney is the right choice. He too plays the same character in every movie just like Miss Stewart.

  21. WTF?!? says:

@ Firestarter– I must admit that my opinion of her as an actress is solely rooted in The Professional. She was that damn good.

The rest, well, even if I don’t agree with her, her statements are always thoughtful and based on an informed process. She is articulate and not in-your-face, just very calls-it-as-she-sees-it matter-of-fact, which can be off-putting to some. Hell, she’s the go-to sub in certain departments for professors at Columbia. Girl has a giant brain.

And she was on Top Chef. She’s a good sport.

  22. Carrie says:

Love the Millenium series of books- read them!!!

Can’t say that any of the three of them are really great for the role- KStew looks the most like the part as described in the book, but since lip-biting is her go to crutch for emotion, I’m not pulling for her to get the part.

  23. Anonymous says:

If Kristen Stewart will play that part, I’m pretty sure that the lip biting will be eliminated thru director’s supervision. There’s always a director’s approval everytime you do the acting infront of the camera. If she lip bite as her mannerism and the director didn’t correct it, then she just simply act naturally.

  24. Trillion says:

Her beauty, like her acting, is distinctly uneven. Her face is so sexy. Body, not so much. She’s pretty much a 12 year old from the neck down. Great in The Professional and V, and just awful in Star Wars prequels and Closer.

  25. Amy says:

yes Thompson did remove her name after this website : http://shakespearessister.blogspot.com/
asked her to. its a brilliant site i recommend you check it out.

  26. kimberly says:

Nat’s acting is average. She’s pretty boring to watch on the screen. All her great roles were done when she was younger. She should just take a break.

    oh yeah and Brothers blows!!!!

bad story. could have been good, but ended up being a waste of a disc. Natalie is just not that type of actress. Besides she sides with a pedo for a reason that is simply wrong, and it calls her out in her double standard warped thinking.

Her reason is: You have to seperate the art. ? Really?? Natalie because you have not. Not one time have I heard that he was a crappy director. It’s clear that she is the one that cannot take her own advice.

    @zzzzzzzzzz

    zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  27. Cea says:

Why can’t they pick someone who looks Swedish?!
Maybe Scarlett Johansson? I would say Kristen Stewart is the best fit, , if she wasn’t considered such a bad actress. Ellen Page is cute but lacks sex appeal. One thing is for sure, It would be gross if any of them were cast opposite George Clooney as a love interst. He’s too old for them.

  28. Cea says:

    About Polanski,
I just think it’s really hard to separate art from the person. I guess some people can. I have the same problem with Michael Jackson. I’m pretty convinced that Jackson was gay/ pedo and was hiding behind a false persona for years. It just ruins his music a bit for me.

  29. MooMooMooMooMoo says:

She pisses me off so much now that I can’t really enjoy her movies anymore.
She was really good in ‘Beautiful Girls’ though, I still like that one cos it was before the giant ego. Nice, sweet, young Natalie before all the whining and pretention.

As for the ‘Eating meat is like rape’ comment, hey Natalie, rape is rape.. remember that petition you signed?

  30. Leek says:

The lead in the series is supposed to be sexy?? Natalie never comes across as sexy to me. She is beautiful but definitely not sexy. Actually, it’s funny because all three of those actresses no matter how old they get, will always seem like 16 year olds to me.

  31. filthycute says:

@bros — hello! Just wondering how you’ve read all three. Have all of them been released elsewhere? In Canada we are still waiting for the last one. Can’t wait!

  32. Charlie Lieb says:

The following time I read a blog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as much as this one. I imply, I do know it was my option to learn, but I truly thought youd have something interesting to say. All I hear is a bunch of whining about one thing that you might fix if you happen to werent too busy in search of attention.
