Gary Coleman rushed to hospital after suffering a seizure

Pint-sized former child actor Gary Coleman, 41, has made headlines for little else than his personal drama. The Diff’rent Strokes actor has been living in Utah with his on-again wife, Shannon Price, where police have been called to the home due to domestic issues no less than 21 times. Coleman sadly suffered a seizure while he was in LA for work yesterday and had to be taken to the hospital. Yes, Coleman still gets a little work, and had to miss a scheduled meeting about his film Midgets vs. Mascots, which he’s said frankly that he hates. “I have very little good to say about the movie because it’s just so offensive,” he said during a press tour in May. Apparently a new unrated DVD of the film contains a shot of Coleman’s manhood and he’s not happy about it. (The film is available through Midgets vs. Mascots’ website for anyone who wants to see little people punch each other out, throw up on each other, and fart. It truly is offensive on many levels. )

Coleman had to miss the meeting where he would have stomped his feet and yelled at people for showing his goods, but he will hopefully be ok. His agent says “he seems to be doing fine.” He suffers from a congenital kidney disease and has had two kidney transplants.

Gary Coleman is said to be doing well after an unexpected trip to a Los Angeles-area hospital.

The 41-year-old former Diff’rent Strokes star was staying at the boutique Custom Hotel when he suddenly fell ill around 8 a.m. and an ambulance was called.

But Coleman’s agent is assuring fans there’s nothing to worry about.

“He seems to be doing fine. They’ve found nothing wrong with him so far,” Robert Malcolm tells E! News. “They’re just testing to make sure everything’s OK.”

Malcolm says the actor, who has had two kidney transplants, was hospitalized as a precaution and should be released after some routine dialysis.

As for reports that Coleman may have had a seizure, Malcolm says he isn’t certain but that Coleman has never had one before.

But making things even worse is Coleman’s potentially X-rated issue…

Malcolm said the erstwhile child star was in town for a meeting with producers of his upcoming movie Midgets vs. Mascots to discuss a troublesome scene.

“He was very upset to cancel this meeting…because there’s a shot of a penis in the film,” added the agent. “Supposedly it’s his, and he’s not happy with it.”

[From People]

I hope that Coleman is ok. It’s sad that he still has to resort to trading on his brief glint of fame to make ends meet. He was really clear in that press conference earlier this year that he only took the job in Midgets vs. Mascots for the money and said “I took this job and I promote this film because they pay me.” The guy is very angry and he was frankly a little scary on The Surreal Life. He just seems to have no clear direction or joy in life. Coleman got married in 2006, but that only seemed to make things worse for him. He went on Divorce Court with his new bride in 2008, but the two just wanted some advice in exchange for the cash and haven’t yet called it quits.

    I hope he’s okay, too.
poor man is a classic cautionary tail of a child star…chewed up and spit out by Hollywood and turned into a joke. very sad. it’s a miracle he’s still alive, really.

I know his parents stole all his money. I feel so bad for him. He was the cutest little kid, and when I was a kid I loved his movies and diff’rent strokes, but he grew up and was tossed aside.

I saw on the news that he has had 2 kidney transplants and is now on daily dialysis. Shitty way to have to live. Guess it’s better than not living. Never heard his parents stole his money. Wouldn’t doubt that it’s true tho.

I remember hearing that about his parents and his money too. Too bad he never found another career, went to college, etc. He does seem very angry still though, and at some point, you have to make peace and make the best of your life that you can.

Poor guy, I hope he’s going to be okay. I agree with Bitter Betty – Gary was tossed out of Hollywood and is treated as a joke.

    Sick and sad.
