People loved Anne Hathway’s enthusiasm as she cheered on the Eagles at the Super Bowl

I like when we catch glimpses of the famous people attending televised sporting events. It’s fun to watch celebrities cheer on teams that they’re fans of. You can usually tell who is there for the game and who is there for the photo op. As always, there were a lot of famous people in attendance for both reasons at the Super Bowl this year.

Last year, Jeff Goldblum was a big crowd pleaser when he danced for the Jumbotron. This year, the celebrity who won over fans was Anne Hathaway. During the third quarter, Fox Sports did a montage that showed excited Eagles fan Kevin Hart, sad Chiefs fan Paul Rudd, and an overjoyed Anne Hathaway who was jumping up and down as she cheered on the Birds. It was so unexpected and endearing that the clip of Anne cheering went viral.

Anne Hathaway certainly was not among les miserables watching the Super Bowl at New Orleans’ Superdome ― she was cheering hard for the soon-to-be victorious Philadelphia Eagles.

A clip of the actor reveling in the team’s rout of the Kansas City Chiefs went viral, surprising and delighting people that she’s “for the Birds.”

The Oscar-winning “Les Miserables” star reportedly grew up in Millburn, New Jersey, a short drive from where the rival New York Giants play. But her parents are both from Philadelphia, apparently imbuing her with soaring devotion to the now two-time Super Bowl champion Eagles.

The “Devil Wears Prada” actor joined fellow celebs Bradley Cooper and Kevin Hart among the Philly faithful on hand.

I love that Anne is the person who went viral this year. Some of the jokes and memes about the clip were really funny, too. Eagles fans (and anyone who was rooting for the Birds) were more than happy to claim her as their own. I feel like we were way overdue for the return of peppy, dorky Anne! She had total goofball mom energy and the Internet (and I) was here for it. Speaking of, Anne was at the game with her younger son, Jack, who is five. (I don’t believe her older son, Jonathan, eight, was there.) I hope he had a blast watching his mom and grandparents’ team win. What a fun night for both of them.

Cute. Think she was doing a little bird dance at the end😂

Worth checking out her interview with Jimmy Fallon in 2015 where Anne was a die hard Giants fan. You know, the New York Giants, divisional rivals of the Philadelphia Eagles. It’s honestly weird.

It’s really not though. She’s a native New Yorker and I’m sure she would have rather been cheering on the Giants. But she has Philly roots: her grandfather was a famed radio personality in Philly and her parents went to college at La Salle.

I was surprised to see her there, I wouldn’t have guessed she was into football. But go Birds!
