Carrie Underwood never looks at the comments, calls it ‘post and ghost’

Carrie Underwood won season four of American Idol 20 years ago. I don’t feel old, you do! Now she’s back on the show as a judge for season 23, which premiered in early March, a little over a month after Carrie sang “America the Beautiful” at the dictator’s second inauguration. Carrie took over the “woman” judge spot from Katy Perry, who left after seven seasons to do her Lifetimes Tour in support of her latest album, 143. It’s going well for both ladies. Anyway, this week’s episode of Idol saw Carrie counsel a contestant on how not to let online criticism affect you: simply don’t look! Carrie calls it the “post and ghost,” as in, you post your stuff and then ignore how it’s received in the world.

Carrie Underwood has no time for haters and she just revealed how she avoids hateful comments on social media.

The 42-year-old singer talked about her “post and ghost” strategy while giving feedback on the latest episode of American Idol on Monday (April 28).

While critiquing Breanna Nix’s performance of “Tell Your Heart to Beat Again,” Carrie gave some advice to the young artist, who said she was struggling with mean comments from her community.

Carrie said, “Thank you for being strong and I want to tell you all an important trick. It’s called the ‘post and ghost.’ You put your stuff out on the social media, and you don’t look at the comments. That’s how I live my life, man. And anytime anybody thinks they’re yelling at me, or insulting me, or telling me I look a certain way, or I’m not enough this, or I’m too much that, they’re just yelling at the clouds. I don’t hear it or see any of it. Post and ghost, people!”

Well I for one feel like my life is much-improved upon learning the “post and ghost” method! You see, I’ve been struggling in these times with how much anger I feel building up inside of me towards other people who are systematically destroying our democracy and humanity, and the enablers/abettors supporting their dastardly deeds. But knowing that Carrie doesn’t pay attention to what people say about her? Phew, that takes the tension away! Now I can comfortably say that Country Karen white supremacist voting bargain Kelly Clarkson tantrum throwing warbler got exactly the level of respect she deserved by the technical production completely falling apart on her inauguration performance for agreeing to be a part of that sh-t in the first place and then having the nerve to say it was all for “the spirit of unity” and coming together.

Thanks, Carrie! I feel much better now thanks to the “post and ghost!”
