Donald Trump pardoned tax-evading con artists Todd & Julie Chrisley

Todd and Julie Chrisley became famous years ago for their reality series, Chrisley Knows Best. The series was about their very Southern family, based in Georgia. The Chrisleys were supposed to be self-made millionaires with a real estate empire. Turns out, it was ALL a scam. They were huge con artists. In 2022, they were convicted of ten counts of fraud and tax evasion, and that same year, they were sentenced (separately) to twelve and seven years in prison. Well, good news for con artists everywhere: Donald Trump will pardon you if you’re a white Republican.

Todd and Julie Chrisley have officially been pardoned in their ongoing case. On Tuesday, May 27, President Donald Trump announced that he had granted Todd, 56, and Julie, 52, full pardons. The longtime couple were previously convicted of tax evasion and bank fraud in 2022 before reporting to prison in January 2023.

Trump, 78, also noted that Todd and Julie were “given a pretty harsh treatment, based on what I’m hearing.”

“It’s a terrible thing, but it’s a great thing, because your parents are going to be free and clean,” Trump said to the couple’s children via phone call. “I hope we can do it by tomorrow. … I don’t know them, but give them my regards and wish them a good luck.”

The couple’s daughter, Savannah Chrisley, reacted to the news on Instagram Live, saying, “My parents get to start their lives over! My phone is going bananas right now, but President Trump gave them a full, unconditional pardon and for that, I am forever grateful. Thank you, President Trump.”

Savannah, 27, also celebrated the news of her parents’ imminent release in a statement, saying: “For the past two and a half years, I’ve done everything in my power to fight for my parents’ freedom and bring them home. This moment is the answer to countless prayers, and I am beyond grateful to President Trump for seeing the truth and restoring my family. This administration does not hand out favors. It examines the facts and stands up for what is right. I also want to thank Alice Marie Johnson for her unwavering support and our attorney, Alex Little, for being an essential part of this process,” she continued.

“Today is a victory for our family, but the fight against wrongful convictions and injustice within our prison system is far from over. I will continue to use my voice and platform to advocate for those who do not have one,” she added. “Family is everything to me, and I will never stop fighting for what is right.”

I remember reading about the Chrisleys’ case back in 2021-22 and what shocked me was how cut-and-dry the case was. The feds had a mountain of evidence and there were a million different paper trails for all of the falsified bank loan documents and tax evasion and more. This wasn’t a misunderstanding, and everything about the prosecution of the Chrisleys was above-board (and a long time coming). Anyway, Savannah Chrisley is a regular at Mar-a-Lago, which is how she secured a pardon for her parents. That’s literally all it takes – yet again, the kleptocracy is in plain view.

Absolutely nauseating. What a disgusting, trash administration with its trash lemmings. Good job media and so called progressives—generations of damage have been done so that your triflin, hateful asses could make your “point.”

  2. Aimee says:

White collar crime. Right up Trump’s alley.

  3. Lynne says:

He is pardoning people who will stand behind him while he changes the country and the constitution.
Very scary and thought out by his people in the administration.

    • Brassy Rebel says:

We no longer have to wonder what it would be like to live in a fascist authoritarian state. We are there.

  4. Brassy Rebel says:

The rule of law has been redefined to: supporting Trump will allow you to escape all accountability no matter what crimes you commit; oppose Trump you will be in imminent danger of arrest and indictment even if you committed no crime at all. Whether or not you get due process depends on how Pam Bondi is feeling that day. And as bad as the Chrisley pardons are, they are far from the worst. That honor goes to all the January 6th pardons of convicted violent insurrectionists.

    • BeanieBean says:

Agreed. That and the appalling ‘reparations’ paid to the family of Jan 6 terrorist A. Babbitt (I don’t want to type out her full name). That comes out of the US Treasury, which means it comes from us taxpayers. 😤

  5. Bumblebee says:

Such a terrible abuse of the system. Not surprising anymore.

  6. Amy T says:

The fish is rotten from the head down. Hanging in by the tips of my fingernails for the next 3.5 years and desperately hoping there’s a country to salvage when these corrupt af grifty kleptocrats are out of office.

    • BeanieBean says:

Can’t just hope, ya gotta do. Protest, phone your reps, etc. The next most important election is 2026, flip the House! We only need three!!!

  7. Sue says:

Trump “examines the facts and stands up for what is right.” HAHAHAHA. Yeah, tell that to all the innocent people he sent to a foreign concentration camp with no due process which is against the law. I used to have a soft spot for Savannah.

  8. Oh Really says:

It’s also the reason why she started backing Trump when he chose to run again, all to get pardons for her parents. She even spoke on stage for Trump and all over social media for him too. I remember during DT first term to didn’t like Trump but since possibility of pardon the whole family flips to big Trump supporters. Heard they’re also trying to work on a show with Lifetime.

  9. FYI says:

“This administration does not hand out favors.” Unless you bribe Trump. The Chrisleys were indicted by TRUMP’s DoJ. They didn’t file taxes from 2013-2016. There was a mountain of evidence that they defrauded banks to prop up their completely fake luxury lifestyle. Nothing about their conviction was unjust. Now we’re gonna hear ad nauseam how God is good and God got them through, etc. etc. Nothing worse than a Jesus-grifter.

  10. FYI says:

The long list of [white] criminals that Trump has pardoned is really disgusting —
    * Paul Walzack (stole $10 million from employees)
    * Ross Albricht (proud drug dealer and accused murderer)
    * Jan 6 rioters
    * ex-sheriff Scott Jenkins (caught on video putting thick envelopes of bribery cash in his pockets)
    * Roger Stone
    * Steve Bannon
    * Michele Fiore (politician who defrauded a police charity to pay for plastic surgery and a wedding)

And on and on and on … if you’re a white Republican who praises him or gives him money, you can commit crimes with impunity.

this is what you get when you put a felon in power.

  12. 80sMercedes says:

He is a complete trash bag, but the silver lining is that the former investigator and his wife (also trash bags) now have to live with the cognitive dissonance that their tangerine daddy freed their archenemies.

  13. Elon's sink says:

I can’t believe I was a fan of their reality show. I’m so ashamed. Anyway, I stopped watching just before the arrests because of how they treated the eldest son.

  14. Traveller says:

Pay for pardons…just part of the trump grift machine.

  15. Meghan says:

Nauseated to think what he may have asked for in return from the Ivanka clone he has no blood relation to.

  16. grace says:

Cut from the same (slimy) cloth as the orange guy. SUPERGRIFTERS.😩

  17. BeanieBean says:

There must have been a promise of payment, or a payment’s been made, on their behalf to trump. No way he does anything like this just to be nice.

And they’re not ‘clean’–not by a long shot–because that conviction will stay on their records. Both of them. And good luck finding a bank willing to lend them money now.

  18. Flamingo says:

Our Clown in Chief loves to pardon people. It’s his one superpower he gets to flex at will.

I fully expect George Santos and if Diddy gets convicted to be pardoned too. That’s why I am barely paying attention to the trial.

The only reason why I think he won’t pardon Sam Bankman Friedman is he donated too much to Democrats.

  19. Lu says:

It’s all one big effing criminal grift.
I’m not religious but even I’m resorting to praying that we’ve reached an inflection point and things can move up from here. Not optimistic though

  20. Tn Democrat says:

Trash always takes itself out in the end. Before it is all said and done, they will wish they had not given the tangerine terror a huge cash bribe and made themselves indebted to a poorly run, inept version of the mob. They WILL never be able to set foot in public again without being ridiculed.

  21. Anon @ Work says:

It’s hard to read things like this and not feel depressed 🥲

  22. bisynaptic says:

Someday, they will have to do away with Presidential pardon power.
