Something really weird happened last night. While no one was paying any attention to the Emmys, football season was in full swing. The Eagles played the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium, in a rematch of the Super Bowl earlier this year. The Eagles once again beat the Chiefs, and Travis Kelce is being blasted for screwing up a pass or something (I magically still don’t know anything about football). Travis was really upset, and he was screaming and throwing his helmet. People were really going in on him online.
So, that was weird, but so is this: Taylor Swift was allegedly there, but no one caught sight of her and there were no photos or cutaways to her during the game. For the past two football seasons, Taylor is a regular at games played at Arrowhead. She and her team work with Arrowhead security, and there’s almost always a little “stroll” in one of the stadium’s corridors where a couple of photographers can get pics of her outfit. As I said, that’s been the case for two years. But this year, for the Chiefs’ first home game of the season, Taylor didn’t do that. She apparently hid behind a screen on her way to the VIP box. Which… okay, maybe she didn’t feel like being photographed like that anymore. But they didn’t get any photos of her in the VIP box either?? What’s going on? People Mag swears that she was there, so I guess she just watched her fiance’s team lose from deep inside the VIP box.
People are immediately going with “pregnant.” Possibly, but I think there’s a much better chance that this was completely about her security. Taylor showed up late, mid-game as well.

I was quite pleased that there was no mention of her there. It was all about the football. So if she did come late good for her. She was there supporting her fiancée and she didn’t need to be seen to support him.
💯 agreed. Make it all about the football. The last game she went to our Felon in Chief couldn’t shut up about her and this past week he was saying that they need to beat the hell out of liberals. Plus the fact that she always has stalkers and Charlie Kirk was just saying she should submit to her future husband and become conservative.
I think it was about security – Kirk targeted her with his words and it would not surprise me to see his followers take a swipe at her. I also think that there was some criticism of Kelce last year (that he was distracted by this new level of celebirty) and maybe they decided that a lower profile at the games might help? IDK, but I do not blame her at all for being less visible.

It’s up to the network if they decide make it all about the football – they choose to show her or not.
I agree with you Lucille, and I’m glad they chose NOT to show her. Not only to “keep it about the football” but I also think they WERE setting her up to be hated and berated by misogynistic, mean, men-in-mom’s-basements football fans by showing her so much, so good for them tapering off coverage. Taylor should be able to enjoy her man’s team play and not have to read about how much people think it sucks she’s there like everyone else. Better for her security, too. She was getting a lot of threats and dealing with stalkers even before the Felon In Chief made it his business to hate her.
It’s obvious the privacy was worked out beforehand. Taylor, her team, or the Chiefs probably negotiated the network silence. It had gone way overboard and was polarizing, this is much better.
Gotta be about security. The risk to people around her (physically) is so high as well.
That drew far more attention to her than anything else. I guess she can’t win.

My husband’s favorite player is Josh Allen, so behind the Dolphins (who are 0-2 and my home team), it’s nice to have one winning team in my top two.
She literally cannot win. If she skips the game, she and her fiance have broken it off. If she attends the game, she’s taking all the attention and how dare she. I am not a Taylor apologist, but let the woman be in this situation. I don’t watch football much anymore (between racism of blackballing Kaepernick and the insane rates of CTE among former players- it just feels wrong to watch)
But i have been rooting for the Bills since the 1990s, when they had that fantastic team that won the AFC Championship 4 times.
They deserve a superbowl win, and i am rooting for them.
To be fair, i would love to see Detroit win one too.

That was something she talked about in miss Americana. The fear of eating something and having people talk about her weight (which is why she had an eating disorder). It is probably for security reasons although. I find a screen to be the dumbest thing because there are people who have to roll it out as she is walking. So they can get shot I guess but not her.
I also don’t understand why the stadium doesn’t have a more secure way to get to the VIP suites without being out in public so much.

I think the idea is that if Taylor is a target, any would be assassins would be attempting to shoot her, not the many people around her (she clearly had a team of people in front of and behind her all also behind the screen, and then there were the people rolling the screens outside of that). I mean, who knows what anyone willing to kill anyone really thinks, but typically assassins aren’t necessarily mass shooter situations, so those other folks are less likely to be shot at?
And I think if she DID make a comment right now about right wing violence, that would (sadly) just enflame these horrible right wing nuts frothing at the mouth to foment violence. Taylor Swift speaking about it right now would make her an even bigger target of their hatred.
If she’s doing the for security- then no she shouldn’t release a statement to make it worse. That would just increase her danger not to mention those in her life. She’s about to have very young nieces. She isn’t going to risk anyone’s safety to make a statement.
It was for security purposes. Trump was posting that he hates her a few weeks ago, and Kirk was killed immediately after his video telling Taylor to submit to Travis. I imagine threats against her are up right now, and they didn’t want her to be seen.
Yeah, I think what changed for Taylor this time was the recent political news. I don’t blame her! I might be a little freaked out too. I also think that’s why they didn’t cut to her during the game. FWIW, I saw a pic of her in the box and she was wearing her engagement ring.

I really don’t know. I saw a clip, her mom and her brother were with her, and the creator was saying she went to the Hunts box? And something about the suites are going to get mirrored coating so cameras can’t see into them?
Travis had a pretty good game as far as yardage when I was watching. Mahomes threw a pass that was low and away, and Travis tried to grab it one handed (the only way he could’ve because of how far away), and it bounced off his hand and into the Eagle player. That shouldn’t have ended all offense, I get that a lot of their success has been because he makes catches like that, but a team can’t be counting on those plays going their way.
Travis is the only player on offense to put up decent stats the last two games. People coming for his neck is ridiculous, but sports fans are nothing if not hyper-reactionary. One loss: tear it down, fire everyone. One win: and here’s why we’re winning the Super Bowl.
People were on Threads speculating it was due to security after the Charlie Kirk assassination. I have no idea what the link is between Taylor and Charlie Kirk, I had no idea this guy existed until he was murdered. But upon Googling it looks like he mentioned her “submitting” to Travis and to have a “ton of babies” a few weeks ago and also to “reject feminism.” My guess is her team is on high alert in case any MAGA idiots get any ideas and blame the assassination on her, even if she has nothing to do with it. She’s become a political lightning rod recently through no fault of her own. I’m really glad her Eras tour is over because I’d be nervous to be still performing out in the open on stage so soon after that. And who knows, she may have received a credible threat we aren’t aware of.
I’m also assuming the Chiefs probably did one of those moments of silence for Kirk. Can you imagine if she was in the box when that happened? Her body language would have been dissected to eternity. She couldn’t win, and I’m glad she knew that.

It is simple: Taylor Swift got booed at the Super Bowl. Getting booed by the same people that she publicly dismissed as dads, brads and chads whose opinions don’t matter hurt her feelings. So, like a typical privileged celebrity who can dish it out but can’t take it, she is now going low profile so she won’t get booed again.
And no, her booing wasn’t MAGA sexism. Instead, people boo at games all the time. It is part of the experience of attending a football, basketball or baseball game. By going TWO WHOLE YEARS without booing Swift over this farce that everyone who actually likes football was sick of, they were actually cutting her a break. But at the Super Bowl, the Eagles fans – who in the past have booed injured players, little kids and even Santa Claus – decided that they couldn’t take it anymore and treated Swift like they have long treated everybody else.
Further, the whole thing is racist anyway. NFL and NBA players have been dating celebrities for ages. The problem: those the players have been black and the celebrities that they have dated have been black. So no one cared. It was only when Travis Kelce, a white high profile player, dates Taylor Swift, a white pop star, that the media decides to turn the whole thing into a reality show. Why? Because black players dating black R&B singers and black actresses? Who cares about that, right?
Sexist too. Allegedly Swift getting attention at an NFL game, the #1 televised sport in North America, and getting them even more ratings and making them richer, is this victory for feminism. Sure … why not attend WNBA games? Women’s college basketball games? Women’s soccer games? They could use the the ratings and revenue? Crickets. And oh yeah, female athletes date celebrities all the time too. I remember not long ago when one of the best pro soccer players in the world was dating a Pro Bowl NFL player. But again, either they are usually black or celebrity that they are dating is black, so no one cares. It is only when a white male athlete is dating a famous white female celebrity like Swift and Kelce when it is worthy of attention. How progressive! So ignoring all the black people in favor of Swift and Kelce really shows MAGA who’s boss, right? Wow, how deluded can you get.
Now that the Chiefs are losing, Kelce is clearly too old to keep playing – he actually injured his own teammate because he was too slow to execute a routine block and get out of the way and note that blocking for other players is actually supposed to be his main job, but hey the teammate that he injured was black so who cares right Swifties – and they are engaged this farce can end and this site can demand that the same attention be shown to the many black athletes dating female celebrities. You know, like the guy who plays for the Bears that dates THE NUMBER ONE GYMNAST OF ALL TIME SIMONE BILES. (She attends his games when she can. Do they cut away for her? No, because it a black woman and a black man.) Or you can demand that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce start attending WNBA games and supporting their push for the same revenue sharing terms in their labor union contract that the male NBA players get.
But no, you aren’t going to do that because progressives are always self-servingly selective.
