Princess Beatrice visited her parents at Royal Lodge on Monday

I’m sure the fallout will continue throughout this week, but I wanted to do some general upkeep on how things stand with Prince Andrew, Sarah Ferguson and their daughters Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice. I believe – and there’s a lot of evidence to back me up – that Andrew agreed to relinquish his royal titles as part of a compromise with King Charles. A compromise which included: many royal perks; the Yorks stay in Royal Lodge; and Beatrice and Eugenie’s titles and royal styles are unchanged. Sarah also had to give up her “Duchess of York” title, but she barely used it anymore so it’s not a huge loss. On Monday, the British papers made a big deal about how the Windsors’ royal website was finally changed to reflect Andrew’s now-relinquished York title.

Prince Andrew has had his Duke of York title scrubbed out by Buckingham Palace and Sarah Ferguson has changed her social media handle, the Daily Mail can reveal today. The Royal Family’s official website was updated to reflect the loss of his dukedom and other honours over the Epstein sex scandal.

It came after the King threatened to have his brother officially stripped of his titles unless he saw sense and gave them up himself. The decision was backed by Prince William.

Today all references to the Duke of York have been axed from royal.uk and he is now referred to as Prince Andrew throughout.

Meanwhile Sarah Ferguson no longer goes by the handle ‘SarahTheDuchess’ on her X account and is now ‘sarahMFergie15’.

Today, the royal.uk website reads: ‘On 13 January 2022, Buckingham Palace announced that, with Queen Elizabeth II’s approval and agreement, Prince Andrew’s military affiliations and Royal patronages would be returned to Her late Majesty, and The Prince would not return to public duties. Prior to stepping back from public life, Prince Andrew undertook a wide range of public work, with a strong economic and business focus’.

Previously it said Duke of York.

[From The Daily Mail]

I was curious to see if this was the most basic and superficial change ever, and I was right, it totally is. They didn’t bother changing Andrew’s title on the line of succession listed on royal.gov.uk – he’s still listed as the Duke of York, and I got a screenshot. Besides which, this is not an official document – changing someone on the royal website does not have the effect of law!! I still remember when the palace webmasters played those stupid games over adding Princess Lili to the line of succession as well.

What else? Beatrice was seen driving over to Royal Lodge on Monday. The gossip for the past few years has been that the princesses don’t really spend much time with their father, but they’re both really close to their mother. I have no idea if that’s how it actually is, but I wonder if it’s a good idea for Bea to be seen visiting her parents right now. Meanwhile, the princesses reportedly skipped the British Museum’s Pink Ball on Saturday because of their father’s disgrace.

I’m sure the many victims of trafficking and abuse by Epstein, Maxwell, and their high-profile client list will feel much better now that a Prince is voluntarily in some cases no longer called a Duke.

The justice that has been meted out here is simply astounding in its breadth & scope.

    😕🙄🙄🙄

    • Indica says:

Oh gosh, the punishment, the horror, the just can’t believe they did that to the poor man.

I’m sure his victims sleep well at night knowing he’s in such dire straights.

No I didn’t type that with a straight face. I’m wishing they’d open the basement of the Tower of London and install him there …and throw away the key.

      • Brassy Rebel says:

Did the general public over in the UK call him the Duke of York anyway?Because here in the States I don’t think many people even knew that was his title. Certainly, no one here ever referred to him as the Duke of York.

  2. Lili says:

Girl there is such a thing as Facetime if you want to see how they are doing, They are both compromised as are you.Steering clear would have been a wise choice, But then again she was the one to organise the interview. has she not learned self presevation.

  3. Züri says:

There are new reports that the princesses’ mother took them to meet Epstein after he was released from prison. They would have been 19ish as 20ish and old enough to know how sketchy the guy was.

I start to wonder just how much Beatrice and Eugenie know and are turning a blind eye to. And also: why is no one calling out Eugenie to step back, at least publicly, her anti-slavery work? It feels rather unsavory given all of the information coming out.

    • Liz says:

I have a different take on Eugenie especially after she maintained her relationship with H&M despite what must have been tremendous pressure to discard them by W. I wonder if her charity patronages are an attempt at tacit acknowledgement and maybe even a form of (subconscious) atonement for the sins (crimes) her father. On the other hand, I don’t think her sister falls far from the tree, and has always seemed far more entitled and status driven (just look at all the vacations she took when she was “working” , if I remember correctly she and one company parted ways because she was rarely at work).

      • Züri says:

You may be right on both counts, Liz. Eugenie seems more comfortable in herself and doesn’t really send out the status-driven vibes as her sister (or Edo, who is cringey af).

I actually hate this line of thought. When I was 19, I had a miscarriage. I was really upset. My mom said, “I’m going on a weekend trip with (her friend) Tina. Why don’t you join us?” And I did. Because it would never occur to me to vet my mother’s friends. My mother wouldn’t bring me around bad people, or at least, people she knows are bad people.

It is not strange, abnormal, nor shady that 19 and 20 year old E and B went to Epstein island with their mother and had no idea who/what Epstein was or what happened at the island. That’s not evidence of wrongdoing on their part. It’s evidence of terrible parenting from Andrew and Sarah.

      • CHARLENEBROOKER says:

Nope. The airplane and the island had rooms decorated as whore houses, and the girls would be raped on the planes and the island. They were dens of horror. If they were under 14–maybe– not 19 or 20.

  4. Eleonor says:

I am pretty sure I am in the minority here, but I am not fond of the York girls.
It’s not their fault they are born in that toxic family, but they have their own life, they are adults and if they want they can keep some distance from those two.
Instead they always try to show public support, and they desperately cling to that “princess by blood” thing, which in the real world does not make any sense.
So, while I have simpathy for them, I still have doubts.

    • Mtl.ex.pat says:

@eleonor – i’m with you on this one. There’s a lot of affection on this site for Eugenie presumably because of her support for Harry and Meghan . But many things can be true at the same time and both sisters have always been shady with their questionable ties to their parents (meaning after so much info came out about Epstein), to unsavoury business contacts, unsavoury ties to the Rota, to their husbands. Jack always struck me as one of those dopey wealthy kids whose Dad gives him a job to keep him busy, and Eduardo just always looked like a grifter himself. They’re not responsible for their parents actions. But they are responsible for how they choose to govern themselves once they need the informationSorry, not sorry.

      • Mtl.ex.pat says:

*knew the information, not need the information

      • Becks1 says:

I have a little more grace and sympathy for them – growing up in that institution with those parents could not have been easy, and we’ve seen how the institution treats its women. the blood royals seem to be a little bit more protected than the married-ins but not by much. They were skewered in the press growing up and I’m sure knowing that so much of your life depends on your grandmother, your uncle and your cousin is a little bit unnerving.

That said, your last line is the important one IMO. They are responsible for how they choose to govern themselves once they had the information.

Do I need them to parade their father through the street a la Game of Thrones? No. But they also don’t need to emphasize how much they “support” him. Fergie had a lot of goodwill after her cancer diagnoses but she’s still a grifter and people are being reminded of that.

I give Eugenie credit for supporting H&M despite what I can only imagine is immense pressure from William to cut them off publicly. But that credit only extends so far.

  5. Dee(2) says:

Should have checked it on her parents’ digitally, unless she wanted it to be a ” show of support”. Because there’s no way she doesn’t realize that they are camped out to see who comes to visit him and her in the coming weeks. And, if that was her intention she takes very strongly after her father in an inability to read the room. However, she is the one that was spearheading all of his horrible choices in late 2019 and agreeing with him, so she may just legitimately truly believe her father.

Eugenie seems to have a better read if the situation even if she does still do some suspect things at times. She’s definitely been pulling away, and attending less family events. Whether that’s because she knew what was coming down the pipeline, or she couldn’t lie to herself anymore about what was really happening and her teen years.

    • Sid says:

Beatrice was always the one who seemed more primed to follow in her grifting parents’ footsteps. After university there was that sketchy work position where she seemed to be on vacation more than anything. Then nothing notable after that besides being photographed showing up to this event or that. On the other hand Eugenie got a job actually connected to her art degree and continued to participate in art-related endeavors. And I don’t recall her being seen in the tabloids as much as Beatrice in those years, though the move to NYC and away from British paps probably helped. And she only really showed up to royal events where you expected to see the extended family. Meanwhile Beatrice was accompanying her parents to things like meeting with foreign business people and diplomats. So yeah, I have never had the impression that Eugenie was about that life in the way Beatrice seemed to be.

  6. ParkRunMum says:

What’s amazing is the event from which they pulled out — the “inaugural Pink Ball” at the British Museum — is brazenly pitched on the DM website as a bid to rival the Met Gala in New York. Now, owning up to the fact that you’re copying another institution’s annual event, whilst simultaneously attempting to rival it, does beg some questions about your motives. Why do you need to compete? Why is it a rivalry? Surely, people in New York support the Met for the same reasons people in London support the British Museum. No? Or is this just about celebrity. Funnily enough, Anna Wintour inaugurated the Met Gala over 30 years ago because the Costume Institute was the only wing of the Met without its own endowment. So they had to fundraise. The British Museum gets state funding. It charges no entry fees. Tickets to the Met are eye-watering. Another detail: Anna Wintour’s mother (an American, like Jennie Jerome) declined spousal support from her husband following their divorce, which followed his many affairs. It all just reminds me of the observation Harry makes about Kate seething with suspicion that Meghan wanted her fashion contacts, observing, simply, “She had her own.”

    • Brittney B says:

One small thing: tickets to the Met are not eye-watering if you’re a New York tax-payer or a student in NY, NJ, or CT. The $30 admission price is merely “suggested” for them; I got in for a penny when I studied in NY.

      • koro says:

This hasn’t been true for a few years unfortunately!

      • Anonanon says:

@koro: it is currently true, per their website. If you pay taxes in NY or are a student in NY/NJ/CT, you can pay what you want. You just have to pay something.

      • NightOwl says:

I was just there and can confirm — admission for NY residents is still pay as you wish. NY, NJ, & CT students are also pay as you wish with a student ID. There are also discounts for students and seniors. The library also has many other categories of complimentary admission listed here https://www.metmuseum.org/policies/complimentary-admission.

      • Tuesday says:

I’m pretty sure @koro meant tickets to the Met Gala are eye watering, not tickets into the museum itself.

    • Becks1 says:

i dont think the Pink Ball is anything nefarious (besides the issues with the British Museum in general.) Different organizations copy fundraisers from each other all the time. You see one that works and is effective and think “well lets try that.” There’s also prestige associated with the Met Gala and the BM may have wanted similar prestige associated with it.

  7. Amy Bee says:

Why didn’t Charles just go ahead and ask Parliament to strip Andrew of his titles instead of this performative action? As for Beatrice and Eugenie I think they still fully support their parents.

    • Debbie says:

Actually, I don’t even know why they’re just now in 2025 (“the year of our Lord, Beyonce”) feigning any action against Andrew. They kept remarkably silent when Virginia Giuffre was suing him, then they/the queen paid off Andrew’s settlement, and he still got to keep his palatial residence, so I think that this sudden flurry of activity now is just window-dressing for some other reason which may happen as soon as Chuck is dead — or even sooner, because I don’t trust Charles either.

I think they are getting ready to do something else/more to the Sussexes because of “fear” and they want to avoid the optics of cajoling Andrew, letting him keep his grand house, royal titles, and attend royal family events — all the things they stripped from the Sussexes. Let’s face it, the only reason Andrew even gets mildly negative press is because of Virginia and his charities loudly distancing themselves from him, not because of any moral efforts by the Windsors.

  8. FYI says:

Wait — so Andrew and Fergie live together at Royal Lodge!? Does she have no home of her own? (I know she sold that house she supposedly bought for her daughters.) With such an EXTREME infusion of cash from Epstein, what did she do with all of it? Why does she need to live with her ex? Seriously, she doesn’t seem like a cokehead, so where did all of this money go?

    I can’t keep up.

    • Tessa says:

Fergie spends money like there is no tomorrow. She regained some money promoting products the. Lost it again

    • Smatone99 says:

Fergie has pretty much always lived at RL. AND Fergie has spent tens of millions of other people’s money – who knows what on. She’s absurd when it comes to money.

    • Caren says:

I think Sarah might have or had possible drug issues. Epstein was involved with drugs also.

  9. Tessa says:

I wonder how Edo feels now

  10. Smatone99 says:

Sarah uses her title on her book covers. It’s a lie that she doesn’t. She’s literally profiting from her title.

Why this constant thing that she doesn’t use it? 2024 book, Sarah Ferguson, duchess of York. Amazon is everyone’s friend for research.

    • BeanieBean says:

That was my first thought–it’s on all of her books. She’s had kid books published, various memoirs & autobiographies, historical fiction, stuff connected to the royal family some way–I think she did something on Osborne House (Victoria’s vacation home)–& etc. Are they going to recall all those books & change the author name? A quick perusal of Amazon shows she’s listed variously as Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York; Duchess of York, Sarah Mountbatten-Windsor; Sarah, Duchess of York; Sarah Ferguson, The Duchess of York; Sarah York (I double-checked, this is indeed her). Are the publishing houses going to call all these back? If they continue to be published, will new copies have to do a name change? My guess is no, because–this isn’t really a matter of law but custom.

  11. Smatone99 says:

So how long will Edo stick around is my question. He lurves the royal show, if he’s not in it (adjacent) will he stay? My money is on not.

  12. aquarius64 says:

The talking heads on British TV are bringing ip the P word, Parliament, as in the MPs need to step up amd make Andrew’s title strip official. Some MPs are staying it’s up to the BRF for the title fight, but I wonder if that could change if an on the record vote woild get them fired vy ballot box come next election.

  13. Diamond Rottweiler says:

The way King Chucklehead is handling this constant media train wreck—really, the only logical motive seems Andrew et al have such massive dirt on Chuck and the whole BP clown show that having the words “Epstein” and “pedophile” now be the first things you think of when any of them are mentioned is *better* than whatever the York grifters can and would spill. Good Lord, imagine how bad it must be to let the Pedo Prince clan hold you publicly hostage for years.

  14. Smices says:

This might be a photo that was taken at a different time and just reported to be recent. The tabloids do that with the Sussexes all the time.

  15. Cosmo says:

Beatrice briefly dated a man I went to school with who had beaten our classmate to death. Paolo Liuzzo

  16. Kaaaaz says:

As vile as he is, and he really is hideous, you have to admit that family is tight.
I can’t imagine Charles receiving such loyalty if it was him embroiled in an underage sex scandal.
After all the gross stuff their parents have done, their kids stick by them.

  17. QuiteContrary says:

Decent parents would have urged their daughters to stay away for a while.
But Fergie and Pedrew are the worst of parents and human beings.
