The Duchess of Sussex’s As Ever will have a new-product drop today. If the previous product drops are any indication, As Ever’s site will be updated with the new products around noon EST/9 am PST. Over the weekend, Town & Country got a big exclusive about the “new products,” which are based around gift-giving for Mother’s Day here in America. As Ever is doing another collaboration with Compartes, the LA-based luxury chocolatier, with what looks like dark-chocolate-and-caramel bites. Additionally, Meghan is adding two new candle scents. Months ago, she introduced her first two candles, the No. 084 (Meghan’s birthday) and the No. 519 (Meghan and Harry’s wedding anniversary). According to T&C, the next two candles are named the No. 506 and the No. 604, her children’s birthdays, and the blurb on the site will likely reference Archie and Lilibet as the “inspirations” for the scents. It’s touching and very “Meghan.” Well, obviously, “palace sources” are beside themselves with incandescent rage about it.
Meghan Markle has come under fire this week for hawking candles “inspired” by her children — and Page Six can reveal she and Prince Harry have also trademarked Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet’s names, prompting questions about how the couple plan to use the kids’ titles in the public eye.
Markle’s As Ever range, which keeps using coy glimpses of the children in advertisements, will sell two $64 candles — No. 506, for “Prince Archie of Sussex’s Birthdate,” and No. 604, for “Princess Lilibet of Sussex’s Birthdate,” according to the brand’s promotional materials — as part of her Mother’s Day collection, out Wednesday.
One palace source called the sales pitch “an outrageous use of their titles” and noted the late Queen Elizabeth II never intended for the Sussex family to make money off the HRH (His/Her Royal Highness) titles. In fact, it’s why the duke and duchess famously agreed never to use those titles in public after stepping down as working royals back in 2020.
Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4, were officially made HRH when their grandfather, King Charles, ascended the throne after his mother’s death in September 2022, and they are listed on the royal website with their official titles.
Page Six has previously reported that the children have stationary emblazoned with HRH, although it’s not expected they will be working royals when they grow up.
We have now learned that Harry, 41, and Markle, 44, have not only trademarked Archie and Lilibet’s names, but also claimed their emails, social media handles and domain names.
Although it is a common thing for celebrities to protect their children in this way, an industry insider noted that trademarking their names for any future goods sold while they are minors would be another story. “It’s not about safeguarding the children — that’s understandable. It’s what you plan to do with [the trademarks] that is the key.”
“…According to the brand’s promotional materials…” As of this writing, the products have not dropped yet. Let’s take a breath and wait until As Ever updates and see how Meghan and her team actually reference the children. And even if she does reference her children with their titles, who cares? Those are the kids’ names. The candles themselves are just named after the kids’ birthdays, it’s not like she’s calling it “the Prince Archie Candle” or whatever. They just keep trying and failing to come up with an attack line that sticks, have you noticed? They’ve got nothing beyond dumb sh-t like “Meghan invested in OneOff” and “how dare she wear Australian designers” and now “she’s referencing her children within As Ever.” Don’t these “palace sources” have better uses for their time besides hysterically calling up the NY Post to whine about an American woman’s candles?
PS… I have my fingers crossed that Meghan keeps leaning into fragrance and ends up doing an As Ever perfume line.

These people at the Palaces need a new hobby. Like a life. Or a job.
Seriously. Palace sources, well past time y’all shut your pie holes about all things Sussex, and refocused your energies to making your precious so called “working royals” do more than 30 minutes of work every two months.
Mind the business that pays you.
Seriously- the world has no real problems. But let’s focus on candles.
The Sandringham agreement was to not to use their HRH in commercial activities (this was okay for Princess Michael
Of Kent, a married in to a non-working Royal) so perhaps the press should be reminded again?
Indeed. And HRH is a style, NOT a title (which they don’t publicly use, as agreed). You’d think a ‘palace source’ would know this 😅🤣😂
They didn’t agree not to use it in public, they agreed not to use it for commercial purposes. And they haven’t (even though other “non-working” royals have)
If it were me, I’d be using it in public constantly, just to annoy the deranged lunatics on salty isle. Let them wear themselves out with their tantrum throwing. And then, bam, I’d use it again. HRH Duchess SussexWatcher went to the grocery store.
Kinda funny how they deliberately muddied the waters in the article—calling Meghan out for using HRH when she used Prince & Princess!
@Ciotog She didn’t use Prince and Princess either. They made that up as well. She actually used “our son” and “our daughter”, and a letter she wrote with a gift package used “Archie” and “Lili”. No styles, no titles.
ETA: The e-mail just landed in my Inbox and it actually says “curated by our founder and named after the birthdates of her children.” No names. 🙂
That’s why they lie about everything @Magdalena. A mother creating a mother’s day gift package centered around her children’s birthday is loving and sweet. They want to try to ruin that so they lie about Sandringham Summit and what Harry and Meghan are allowed to call their own kids.
There is also rage that Meghan can dictates what the public sees and knows about her kids. They will never get over not having control over the Sussex family.
They are shameless. Thanks for pointing out how much.
The press know, their idiot readers don’t. Tell a lie often enough, etc. They also change the lies depending on what the sussexes do. The only stipulation was hrh and as pointed out hateful witch princess Michael plus fergie did for years.
💯 Lamb Chop.
It’s simple: the british tabloids foam at the mouth and purposely make the family unsafe. Harry and Meghan *must pay for legit, prime minister level security (with their private funds). Why not use the tabloid tantrums for the ultimate product exposure (for free!) No such thing as bad publicity.
As Ever knew this would push buttons and they did a petty. Bet me prince Harry didn’t have a big hand in this. Hes the pettiest one. I fully support
I hope no more so called quotes from the late queen about her disliking candles and chocolates
I actually hope they do! It’s free publicity. No made up quote from a dead royal is going to change whether someone likes, dislikes, is neutral about the Sussexes. So I want the head line “And now it’s chocolates! The queen would be appalled!” with the first two paragraphs describing the products the queen would have hated and where to get them lol.
HRH Princess Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, Queen of my heart and mom to HRH Prince Archie Harrrison and HRH Princess Lili Diana (hopefully my use of all of her titles has caused a deranger’s head to explode), I’m still waiting for you to sell me that cutting board you used for your rainbow fruit display. Please and thank you.
I love your use of the correct titles. People can argue that they shouldn’t care and drop them. However, its not the point. They’re entitled to them and have done absolutely nothing to lose them. Meanwhile Andrew’s mental health…
Agreed. I wish they’d use them more. But I’m petty like that.
Why would Archie and Lili have their own stationary? I doubt either of them are at the stage where they are writing long letters to friends at the age of 4 and 6. If Beatrice and Eugenie are HRH why shouldn’t Archie and Lili be?
That detail sounded completely made-up. While I could see them having personalized stationary, bc that’s a very Meghan thing to do, overall it just sounds made-up from page 6 and sincerely doubt it’s emblazoned with hrh.
I had personalized stationery when I was around 5 or 6. My dad was a lawyer and I thought his letterhead was cool (I was a weird kid), so he got me my own. I mainly used them to write thank-you notes for gifts and stuff like that. And occasionally to leave notes for my dad when something displeased me, like I was going to sue him. I’m sure that, if Archie and Lili have their own stationery, it’s fairly simple and cheap-ish, not like, engraved or embossed velum or whatever.
It just sounds weird, why would they need stationary. Never listen to anything these people say, they like to act like they know but they don’t. They are not personal friends and the Sussex’s friends would NOT talk to them. So, I’m going with delusional, made-up crap to invoke outrage with deranged people.
I had to write a short thank you note every time I received a gift or attended a party from a very, very young age. I’m not sure I had personalized stationery, but my brother and I did get to pick out our own and we used that.
I did get my own (because I wanted to; my brother never did) around 11 or 12. It felt very fancy and grown up every time i used it, for a similar reason as Miranda–my parents had it and I associated it with being grown up like them, so they ordered it for me. It was actually more common and way cheaper then (catalogs would come with gifts and household items and you could get half the things in there personalized) and Meghan and I are the same age.
I could go either way on whether this is made up or not, but it wouldn’t surprise me. They are in a world where they get very nice gifts and Meghan’s from a time and tradition (and personal belief) where you’d teach your children to write and send a formal note to say thank you, even if it’s just one or two lines and your name.
@MIranda: that’s a super cute story!
Yeah that’s doesn’t sound believable to me.
This is not so much about candles being named for her children’s birthdates as much as it is about Meghan continuing to move forth with developing and expanding her business. The HRH nonsense is rage at her ability to tune them out while moving forth earning money. Those gutter rats are beside themselves with rage at her ability to multitask. It shows me further they do not understand American’s. The hustle culture is real in America.
Harry promised not to use the HRHs for commercial reasons, Meghan wasn’t allowed to attend that meeting so she has never promised, but she has not used the HRHs anyway so what is all the fuss about.
These people just want the ability to monetize her kids so anytime she does anything that directly references her kids, or shows that she has complete control over their image they act like she’s the interloper.
Because naming stuff after your kids? That’s kind of normal parent stuff even if you don’t own a business. You know how many boats I’ve seen named after kids? It’s just the same pouting that goes on with her posting them to Instagram, but not releasing official birthday portraits, or bringing them to events where face photos could be taken. It’s not fair that she could potentially earn money due to her connection to her kids, and we can’t.
Shoot, Elvis named a whole plane for his daughter, Lisa Marie. 🤷♀️
Why do these people care so much about what Meghan does with her own children?
Right? I thought they had declared they would stop paying attention to the Sussexes. What happened to that?
Omg these people. She won okay? She won and she moved on. You need to do the same. If only you had this same energy for pedophiles.
Leave her alone. Leave Black people alone.
Only a royalist (or a MAGA) would buy the overheated farfetched hysterical haterade they concoct every single time Meghan does anything.
Royalists and MAGA are the exact same population. I have more respect for MAGAs wearing red hats and driving massive trucks that haul nothing but Trump flags. At least the MAGAs are loud and proud about their hate instead of hiding their racist behind screens like royalists.
I feel like I’m going insane. Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are their legal names, and also different from HRH. They didn’t write HRH in the press packet, it’s not written there, why are they freaking out about HRH?
The people are truly dummies.
By “palace sources” they mean William, right? lol
I feel like you could post something every day with this exact title – “palace sources are mad about duchess meghan…..” and whatever it is she is doing that day that sets them off. Some days its just a matter of her breathing that infuriates them. Some days its a reminder that she has children in the line of succession, who are HRH Prince/ss.
Her children, her business. literally.
The online teasers mentioned “inspired by” their son and daughter, no titles were used – the media inserted those. And as many have said, the haters just hate that they can’t get to monetise the Sussex children the way they have done the Waleses’ kids.
I mean, Meghan didn’t even use Lili’s name when she credited her with shooting that video of her and Harry dancing on the lawn. She simply said “Our daughter”.
Remember how the Daily Fail actually included a photo of baby Archie in their “Kate’s Cuties” calendar? And do they complain about paying royalties to Kate and her family each time they print a photo “taken by HRH The Duchess of Cambridge” or “HRH The Princess of Wales”? Hypocrites. Grifters. Etc.
I’m not really a candle person, but I have the 804 and it smells so good. Wish it was in a diffuser. This is a tempest in a tea pot. The palace doesn’t care about those kids and hate their mama so everything is a scandal to them. If it wasn’t this, it would be something else. Meghan never refers to her kids by their titles. Notice how Meghan is back at work at her business right after getting back from Australia.
A few items are on sale (15% off). Cue the deranged commentary about a fire sale.
Meghan should come out with a candle and call it HRH! Take that, and tell me again who the bullies are? Anyway I got my order in for the chocolates, preserves and honey bundle. I can’t wait!
The candles are up and there is no mention of the children’s names.
Oh my! I was just reading this when the Mother’s Day line just dropped. I won’t spoil it, but our gal is so incredibly clever!
So many people, particularly in the UK, are positively livid that these children even exist. Having Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet in the line of succession breaks these bigots’ brains. There are those on Salt Island who will never forgive Meghan for giving birth to them, so it’s not surprising that fools are crying and throwing up over the new candles.
Cry harder.
I remember when they went to Canada for American Thanksgiving / Christmas / New Year the year their first child was born, and they were gone for something like six weeks, and it began to dawn on people that they weren’t coming back, and I think this is when the late Queen mentioned to someone, “They took the dogs, they’re not coming back.” She was a live wire. Never missed a trick. Anyhoo, there was one photo in which you could see Meghan hiking, smiling, grappling a dog and a baby in a Björn, all at once, but just so happy, outdoors, and one snide British commenter was all like, “remember those rumours that she was wearing a moon bump? LOOK! She doesn’t even know how to use a baby sling. Probably nanny tried to teach her but Meghan knew better. Silly nanny.” And I was just —— whoooooof — knocked over sideways. Took my breath away. I still maintain, if you take race as a starting point, you’re missing a part of it that matters. Femininity triggers people. Fertility *really* triggers people. Meghan is so resplendently feminine and that overlaps with fertility to a significant degree, and then there is the process of starting a family, that gives you a real claim on the society in which you raise your kids. They are your roots. Hence the hideous agitation about “anchor babies” and birthright citizenship. and I think the MAGA hats and the royalists are the same that way. They want to gate keep this club. Race is a factor, but so is just being a woman who doesn’t want to join their lame club.
I know the scent profiles are listed, but call me a pleb when I say that $64, plus taxes and shipping, is way too much to buy a scented candle without being able to scent it first, lol. Like, I have an idea of what the food and wine would taste like and can order that kind of stuff without sampling it first, but a scent based product needs to be smelled before purchase, imo.
@Plums, I was also reluctant to order them the first time because they were a little pricey for my budget, but I am glad that I did. I particularly LOVE the #519 one. I have never smelled a candle that smelled as good as that one. It really is an ineffable fragrance. The #084 was also nice, but I would have preferred a stronger sandalwood fragrance. The nice thing is when the candle is used up you are left with an absolutely beautiful cream colored porcelain bisque holder that you can reuse for other purposes. I was tempted by the latest chocolate, but I don’t like caramel at all. Plus 10 pieces for $58.00 is way out of my budget. I did order the four pack of candles that include the two new fragrances. I will report back on how I like the Archie and Lilli scents. BTW, you can’t go wrong on any of the jams or teas.
I don’t like caramel filling either. I like coconut or peppermint better.
I have been astonished at how much stuff like this costs, now, and all I can say is, buy it, if you don’t like it — out of the box, you don’t have to light it, you get the scent pretty much on contact — put it back in the box, and gift it to someone you sort of kind of don’t like but can’t avoid, like a MIL. ;-D
So exciting to see As Ever continue to develop and drop new products as they continue growing without the support of Netflix!
I’m sure the new candles will be as much a success as the previous two – Meghan and her team have clearly got something good going.
Ditto with the Compartes collab chocolates. And I’m sure the flowers were something special too.
I’m just waiting for the announcement of her first international launch market. I’m sure there’s zero chance of it being the grumpy UK!
I got 3 boxes of chocolate! I don’t evrn like dark chocolate. I’m a milk chocolate all the way kind of girl, but I’m happy to give these a try and I can always gift the other 2 boxes. I jut want Meghan to succeed!!! She and Harry are so inspiring.
I’m not a chocolate person, so I reordered my usual white wines and rose bottles. I can’t wait!
