Producers want to make a ‘Suits’ movie with the original cast, including Duchess Meghan

Last month, there was a rare positive story about the Duchess of Sussex in Page Six. P6’s Hollywood sources claimed that casting agents and producers all want to hire Meghan for various films and TV shows. Apparently, Meghan is being “inundated with acting offers” and “bombarded” with scripts. This is after Meghan filmed a small movie role last fall, much to the chagrin of the British tabloids. Well, now the Sun – which is part of the Murdoch-owned media company, like Page Six – claims that producers want Meghan to come back to the Suits universe for a Suits film.

The Duchess of Sussex could be edging towards a Hollywood comeback amid growing talk of a blockbuster Suits movie. TV insiders claim bosses are keen to cash in on the legal drama’s huge streaming revival by reuniting Meghan with her former co-stars for a spin-off.

Sources close to the discussions believe producers could even consider offering Meghan a co-executive producer role – potentially allowing her to pocket a sizeable share of any future box office profits.

The Duchess of Sussex, 44, played paralegal Rachel Zane in the hit series before quitting acting to marry Prince Harry. The show carried on without her for another two seasons while spin-off Suits: LA was axed last May after just 13 episodes.

But the original legal drama has found a huge new audience on streaming platforms, topping the Netflix charts between 2023 and 2025. It currently holds the record for the most viewing minutes in a single week after racking up a staggering 3.7 billion worldwide.

Show creator Aaron Korsh, who is understood to remain close to Meghan, has declined to comment publicly. But he previously hinted he would be open to revisiting the Suits universe.

One Hollywood insider claimed former stars Patrick J Adams, Gabriel Macht, Rick Hoffman, Sarah Rafferty and Gina Torres have already been “sounded out” over a possible return.

The Duchess is also due to appear soon in a cameo role playing herself in the upcoming Netflix comedy film Close Personal Friends alongside Lily Collins and Brie Larson.

Some insiders believe Meghan could be tempted by any new offer after Netflix decided not to renew the five-year deal she and Harry, 41, signed after moving to the US.

[From The Sun]

It’s really funny how, circa 2023, Suits became one of the most-watched shows in streaming history, so much so that Hollywood was like “the people want more SUITS.” A spinoff was duly greenlit and it bombed… but they’re still trying to chase that high. And it’s also an acknowledgement that people enjoyed the OG Suits because of the cast and their chemistry. I could totally see Netflix greenlighting a Suits film and persuading many of the original cast to come back for it. Including Meghan, honestly.

I think she would definitely do a cameo, out of appreciation for her ex colleagues. She loved doing that show and people there really appreciated her.

I think they should do it. Kaiser’s right in that people liked Suits bc of the original cast and their chemistry. Meghan was a part of that but the whole cast was loved. And she should be in the movie too. Her part doesn’t have to be huge. It would be cute and do very well. So why not? I can’t think of any good reason not to. Bring back Wendell Pierce too.

    • Shiela Kerr says:

Would love to see Meghan in a Suits movie

      • jais says:

I just can’t see any reason not to do it. She could be in a just a few scenes or whatever she feel’s comfortable with. It would be nice to see all the other actors in it and getting their flowers, not that they haven’t already gotten flowers but even more flowers.

  3. Hypocrisy says:

As a Suits fan I would love to see a movie, but I don’t see Meghan going back even for a role she loved.

  4. GMHQ says:

I think the chatter is real. The Murdoch conglomerate includes motion pictures businesses including 20th Century Fox, so they probably have access on real inside gossip here. Plus, Megan could probably pull in as much as $20MM to $30MM just for the role and then at least double that as an Exec Procucer with a credit for Archwell Prods. She will do it and the Brits will be passing around the arsenic among themselves!

    • Neeve says:

20- 30M?? I think that is Julia Roberts hey day type of pay. Even Meryl Streep ain’t getting that.

      • jais says:

Yeah, I think that amount is extreme. Honestly, I’d rather see Meghan negotiate like Meryl so that everyone is getting paid. IF Meghan did it, it wouldn’t be for the paycheck imo.

If I remember correctly in the summer after With Love, Meghan first premiered she mentioned on a podcast or during a panel that she had forgotten how much work being on set all day was. So, I’m not sure if she would go back to do a full throttle movie with everything else that she has going on.

However, I could see her making an extended cameo. A few scenes where she shows up in court, or where they run into some major issue and need some help or someone to save them and it’s Rachel and Mike who do so, something like that.

And the interest and the market is clearly there. There have been tons of reboot series with the original casts in the last few years, so a one-off movie that doesn’t require the investment of everyone for a new series would be a great way to whet the appetite.

  6. MsIam says:

But how can this be true, when everyone hates Meghan, is “over her” and is “completely done with her”? That Matt guy doubled down on this and insisted his sources were accurate!

Could this Suits movie thing really be true? Who knows, but I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that the producers were exploring options to reach out to Meghan to see if she was interested. The thing is, if she did agree to do it, the project would attract an insane amount of trolling, not to mention Incandescence from across the pond so would it be worth it?

  7. Pumpkin says:

This may be unpopular but IF this is even true, I don’t see her doing much beyond an extended cameo such as a phone call scene with Mike/Donna or something similar where she’s only in 1-2 scenes max.

  8. Amy Bee says:

What would be the premise of a Suits movie? I don’t know how this would work. I think this is the Sun mining the Meghan SEO again.

    • IdlesAtCranky says:

      @Amy Bee

Oh, a premise would be easy. First thing that comes to mind: the firm is involved with some big, crucial legal case; pick anything.

Maybe they take on fighting against the prison camps the badministration is trying to open everywhere. Mike & Rachel get pulled in to consult because of the work they’ve been doing in public-interest law in Seattle all this time.

Meanwhile, Donna and Harvey are finally getting married! ❤️

From there it just depends on who is available to take part. We could see Louis and Sheila as harried parents, Jessica the boss of Chicago and/or running for a Senate seat, one or more of the previous villains having gone over to MAGA, Sean Cahill fighting to release the Epstein files, so forth and so on.

It’s absolutely doable given the history and format of the show.

  9. Flamingo says:

I can see Netflix doing this – When the series hit the streamer it revived the show with a whole new audience that fell in love with them. With the flop of the spinoff. You can’t just slap Suits on a legal show and have the same results.

She has her brand backing with Netflix they are good partners. EXCEPT FOR THE RESTOCKING OF APRICOT SPREAD WHAT DOES A WOMAN HAVE TO DO TO GET ANOTHER 1 OR 100 JARS OF IT…

But I digress….. I hope they do get it off the ground and she has a part. It’s part of who she is as a retired actress. I mean, its not like she can’t come out of retirement with the right project.
