Knox & Vivienne Jolie turned 18 years old, now Angelina Jolie can leave LA

On Friday, Belgium and Spain played in the FIFA World Cup quarterfinal at the SoFi Stadium in LA. Spain won, and the semis are now set (Spain vs. France and Argentina vs. England). Interestingly, Brad Pitt and Ines de Ramon are suddenly into soccer, and they attended the Spain-Belgium quarterfinal. They had VIP seats and Brad wore a USA t-shirt while Ines wore Spanish colors. None of Brad’s kids were there, at the game. There’s zero evidence that Brad has seen any of his kids at any point in many years. That’s unlikely to change, because his two youngest, Knox and Vivienne, both turned 18 years old on Sunday. This marks the complete end of whatever custody arrangement Angelina Jolie had with Brad.

When Knox Léon and Vivienne Marcheline were born in Nice, France on July 12, 2008, they were already two of the most famous babies in the world. Parents Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie sold their first photograph for about $14 million, a record amount at the time, which the then-couple placed with their Jolie-Pitt Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to global humanitarian efforts.

Eighteen years later, those babies have come of age—a moment that marks the end of their childhood and brings the last image of the so-called “Brangelina babies” to a close: For the first time since Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt parted ways, all of their children are legal adults.

When Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie announced their divorce in September 2016, Knox and Vivienne were eight years old. It took over eight years for that parting to be finalized, with the legal end of the relationship coming in December, 2024. All the while, the former couple’s children grew up under a level of media scrutiny unprecedented even by Hollywood standards—but, according to Jolie, they’ve managed to remain “pretty great people” despite the pressure.

The twins’ coming of age also marks a turning point in their parents’ long separation: the issue of custody is now definitively behind them. That means Jolie, who told The Hollywood Reporter in 2024 that she was required to remain in Los Angeles as a stipulation of the parental agreement, is finally free to move about the globe. “I am here because I have to be here from a divorce, but as soon as they’re 18, I’ll be able to leave,” she said then. But when her nest empties, “I’ll spend a lot of time in Cambodia. I’ll spend time visiting my family members wherever they may be in the world.”

[From Vanity Fair]

Last month, Knox graduated from an LA high school and Brad was nowhere near the graduation. Brad was actually in Paris at the time, watching the Roland Garros women’s final. We later learned that Knox did not include “Pitt” on his high school diploma – he apparently uses the Jolie surname, the same as most of his siblings. I’ve heard rumors that Vivienne graduated from high school before Knox, and that Vivi is already working and spending time in New York. There are also rumors that Knox and Vivienne will soon file to drop “Pitt” from their legal names too. I wonder if we’ll hear anything about that this week, because Shiloh, Maddox and Zahara have already made those moves.

As for Angelina, she put her LA mansion on the market months ago, and it apparently has not sold yet. A source told the Daily Mail: “Angelina is smart, she knew it would take a while to sell the property even though it is gorgeous and legendary, because the housing market has slowed in Los Angeles, but it still is annoying.” Sources also claim that Angelina plans to leave the US with all of her kids, but I think that’s fake news. She plans to travel more, absolutely. I could even see her basing herself in New York permanently now. But I think the kids all have their own things going on and some of them are planning to be LA-based, which is fine.

Hooray and Congratulations!!! Well done, Angie. ;-D ….the best thing I can say about her kids, as a mother, is that they look totally normal. Like, real people. She really did it. She kept them safe from such a sad situation. Good for her.

I could see her having a secured apartment in NYC for work and business, but not staying in the US hellscape permanently.

For a home base I see a French speaking canton in Switzerland. Following the footsteps of Chaplin, Hepburn, and Tina Turner.

Purchasing in France is dicey because the female dumpster fire was given permission to run for president in 2027, in spite of being convicted of financial crimes against the EU. If she wins, anti dumpster expats in France will not be welcome.

Excellent notion, @IrisRose, she would also be near the HQs to a number of NGOs and that seems to have always been where her heart lies, her acting I suspect is a good steady job, one she’s great at, brilliant, but Switzerland would suit her a lot better than Hollywood. The last time we were there I noticed a bust of “Giorgio Washington” by the side of a lake, in a kind of promenade, by a sculpture park, and it just reminded me that Switzerland is essentially what the US was supposed to be: detached, neutral, adamantly republican, with a small r, accountable, methodical, sober, steady, disciplined, reliable…. All the things we are no longer.

Consign. A US base in NYC with rooms
for the kids to come and go while mostly living in Europe. The kids can rent their own apartments in LA so she doesn’t have anything tying her to the city.

Whatever angie and kids do next, good for them! Brad should be careful, now that the kids are all legal adults, they might start pushing back against his “angie isolated them” agenda.

    Good for her!

  5. TAG says:

She’s been waiting for this moment forever. Happy for her! I see her being in Cambodia and having NY as her U.S. base. Very excited about her new adventures!

Shame on Vanity Fair not mention Brad Pitt despite having custody and stipulations visits via courts still never visited the kids. On their graduation Pitt made a point to be seen at French Open women’s tournament kissing PDA for staged photo-ops with the young thirsty girlfriend. Again now on their 18th birthday he was seen at football match again doing staged kissing photo-ops. This is such a deadbeat father moves on Brad Pitt part he sure has a sensitivity chip missing.

I’m happy for Angelina Jolie for bringing up very good kids who auffted truma and she put them first. Whilst Pitt chased Hollywood and young women like a slleze bag

  7. RKyle says:

Shame Hollywood doesn’t call Pitt out. I saw Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem hugging Pitt at the match its utterly disgusting they keep supporting this perpetrator of domestic violence acting like Pitt never abused Angelina Jolie and her children…

    • Bqm says:

Brad, Javier and Penelope all costarred in 2013’s The Counselor. But both worked with him after all the allegations were public. Javier in F1 and Penelope in a romantic short film for the Chanel Fall-Winter 2024/25 Fashion Show, which paid homage to the classic 1966 French film A Man and a Woman.

I could see her being in London as well. Years ago, QEII awarded her an honorary damehood for her humanitarian work.
