This is our third and last fashion post on the Producers Guild Awards. We also covered the hot guys and other notable attendees, including the lovely Lupita Nyong’o, who makes every dress look like it was made just for her. If you’re just tuning in today after a weekend away, check out our extensive SAGs coverage too.
Helen Mirren showed up to the Producers Guild Awards in an amazing Elie Saab gown that I wish she would have saved for a bigger event, like the Academy Awards. Maybe I’m overselling this dress, maybe it’s not “formal” enough for the Oscars, but damn it makes her look incredible. I wish I had a rack like Helen Mirren, and she sure is working that asymmetric hair. She is styled and accessorized just perfectly. Fierce.
Helen’s HBO film with Al Pacino, Phil Spector, was up for best TV movie or miniseries, which went to Behind the Candelabra. She did take home the SAG on Saturday night, for lead actress in a TV movie or miniseries.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus was in Max Mara, the design house responsible for Jennifer Garner’s snooze of a SAGs gown. I feel the same about this very plan black cocktail dress, but at least this was an occasion to wear it. Julia is shown with her husband and Veep director, Brad Hall. They’re a cute couple! Veep was up for Best Comedy Series, but Modern Family won instead.
Gillian Anderson was in a silver metallic lace gown, which would have looked better with different styling. I don’t like her new haircolor, it’s too brassy or something. Maybe it’s for a role. She’ll always be a redhead to me, I guess. She also looks better in a different shade of blonde.
Kristen Chenoweth is sporting the hairstyle that’s so popular now, that even Pamela Anderson has. A friend asked me about the popular hairstyles and I showed her Charlize Theron and Robin Wright’s hair and she said she’s considering it. It takes some cojones to pull this off, and Kristen is doing it well. This dress is another story though, I don’t want to see half her boobs.

I’m really sick of the blond pixie cut. It was original when Michelle Williams did it, then Miley made it “alternative”, then Jennifer Lawrence brought it mainstream. Now every lady with bleached blond hair in Hollywood has a variation of the pixie.
Kristen’s is giving me Florence Henderson vibes. I hate it.
The problem with the pixie is that it takes so darn long to grow your hair back out, and there are so many awkward stages involved in the process. I feel for these ladies when they start trying to grow it back.
Twiggy and Mia Farrow are the first people that come to mind when I think of the Pixie cut.
I guess the color makes it seem more homogeneous, but personally I feel if you’re beautiful and tiny, you are guaranteed to look better with less hair/nothing weighing you down or covering your face.
Helen looks astonishing, as always. The only nit pick I might have is that the colour seems a bit drab, but often light colours don’t photograph well and look much better in ‘real life’ so maybe that’s it.
I agree that Gillian’s hair colour washes her out and is rather tacky. I barely recognised her.
Helen is always a wow for me. Seriously, this woman dresses that body superbly. She still has a lovely figure and isn’t afraid to dress sophisticated, elegant, and, dayum sexy when she feels like it. She is kind of one of my style inspiration as in understand your body, understand your age but don’t be limited because of it. She is truly a style icon to me.
As to Gillian, Hubs and I were huge x-files fans and so I called him in to identify her showing just the picture and not the caption. He couldn’t do it. She has truly changed enormously from Dana Scully days but, then again, who hasn’t? Still thing the blonde hair looks not as good as it could but she is nonetheless a very attractive woman, imo.
Helen WOW just WOW.
When did Kristen Chenoweth morph into Pam Anderson
Helen is perfect, always. She oozes sass. Also b00bs. What a glorious rack!
Ha, I think the hair cut ages Kristen considerably, I don’t like it on her.
I bet JLD and her husband are hilarious to hang out with, just look so fun
Helen looks fantastic as usual.
It’s not the cut, it’s about 3 billion dollars worth of facelifts. No snark – I love her to death, but she just murdered her beautiful face.
Chenoweth looks seriously rough. She seemed pretty young a few years ago. Now she looks like someone’s nana down in Boca Raton.
There is something about Kristin Chenoweth that weirds me out. Maybe the fact that she was with that weird, asexual bachelor dude. But she is undeniably talented!
Helen looks amazing. She is 68 years old and is rocking the red carpet.
Gillian needs to be a redhead again or a brunette. No to the blonde.
Think its just a bad 2 shade combination.
Helen Mirren is a goddamn goddess. Therefore she could never be overdone. Any opinions to the contrary will be ignored and dismissed 😉
Absolutely correct! Love her, love her complete confidence and fabulous style.
+1
Kristen Chenoweth was adorable in Pushing Daisies, but since then, I find her incredibly annoying.
Helen Mirren’s dress is magnificent, but I think her hair looks a bit of a mess in the photos.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus’s dress is ordinary, but it works and she has gotten so much prettier with age, since Seinfeld. Plus she is hilarious, so she wins the get out of jail free card.
Agree with everything you said. Also – that haircut on Kirsten accentuates her square head.
Helen looks marvelous, as usual.
With that gorgeous face, Gillian looks lovely in any hair color. She is one of the lucky ones who has gotten even better looking as she’s aged.
Love Helen mirren. Her Granny’ s boobs are better than these young starlets bolt ons vibe is making me a little jealous.
I never knew Julia was so tiny! Or is her husband a giant?
Kristen used to be so cute but now looks severe. Has she been ill?
Wasn’t Brad Hall on SNL too?
Helen is fierce and so is her rack! I just want to bury my head against her chest while she strokes my hair and tells me everything will be okay. Nothing is really wrong with me at the moment, but just want to her hear soothe me.
In the top photo, does Helen have a bruise on her arm?
Dame Helen looks marvelous. This is the first time I’ve seen her on the red carpet when she didn’t look like a frump.
I love Helen, Julia and Gillian. They all look amazing, although I agree with you about Scully’s hair color.
All I saw on Helen on initial viewing was that bruise on her arm. In my head, I thought, “Ouch.” Then, I looked at the dress. I like the dress. I like the hair. I hate the bruise!
Ahhhhh Helen! Gorgeous, elegant and lovely as usual. This woman amazes me, she knows how to get it right. She either has a great stylist or she knows how to think for herself. I tend to think the latter.
Mirren looks stunning.
That hairstyle ages Chenoweth by about ten years, and makes her look a *lot* like Angie Dickinson.
What’s up with Kristin’s crotch-length necklace?
Helen killed it! Her lipstick was too pink, a few shades closer to red (like her nails) would have made her absolute perfection head-to-toe but she looks so amazing anyway. And you can tell she feels amazing too, which makes all the difference.
Helen looks so gorgeous as always! And I confess that I was wishing for a “rack” like hers too! And she’s twenty something years older than I am…amazing! As for Gillian Anderson I believe blonde is her natural color although I agree that this shade is a bit light for her skin tone. I will always see her as a “redhead” too…X Files forever! 🙂
I just saw a photo of Helen’s gown where it’s sweeping out a bit more – stunning! I love it, and she looks amazing.
I kind of like the shorter hair on Kristin, but I do agree it ages her a bit. Don’t like the revealing dress.
