Tom Cruise hasn’t seen Suri in a year & it won’t happen anytime soon

Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise and his 20-year-old son, Connor, made a big splash this weekend at the NCAA Women’s Final Four college semifinal in Tampa last weekend. Or as I like to call it, “Oh look, Tom’s surreptitiously shopping for a new girlfriend.” Yes, that’s a mean remark, but Tom (51) just okayed a 31-year-old actress to play his wife. This is the same movie where he’ll play 300-pound, drug-running pilot Barry Seal. Sarah Wright Olsen will play the wife, and I hope she’s ready for Tom’s tomfoolery. My point is that Tom marries younger on and offscreen.

This game was the first occasion that Tom’s been stateside since his last film premiere. He filmed Mission: Impossible 5 in London for what seems like years. He’s also selling off property like mad because he’s never here. And we never see him with Suri. Part of the reason for that is because Tom grew really angry when people noticed how he didn’t see Suri for months at a time. That was his fault! He was the douchebag who invited the press to witness his daddy-daughter time. Tom shut down the pap walks and flashy Disneyworld visits so no one would notice how little time he spent with Suri. He also sued tabloids to reinforce his point.

The last documented visit between Tom and Suri was when she visited him in London in November 2012, but Tom spent most of that weekend filming Edge of Tomorrow. Then radio silence. I assumed he saw Suri on occasion, but sources tells TMZ that it’s been a year:

Tom Cruise said he wasn’t able to see his daughter for months because he was shooting Mission Impossible 5 in London, and he was counting the hours before he came home to little Suri. But we’re told he was off work for 2 weeks after shooting wrapped, yet never saw her.

Sources connected to Katie Holmes tell TMZ … it’s worse than that. They say Tom has not seen the 8-year-old in almost a year. Tom’s rep previously denied that and said the actor has seen his daughter plenty, but on the down low to shield her from cameras.

But our Katie sources say that’s not true … that he’s just not been a part of her life.

There’s been speculation Tom is distancing himself from Katie and Suri because they’ve been declared SPs in Scientology, but we’ve checked with the Church and we’re told that is simply not true.

Tom is now back to business … he just began a 90 day shoot in Atlanta.

He did take time Sunday to take his son Connor to the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament in Tampa.

[From TMZ]

Well I feel awful for Suri. Part of me thinks it’s best that she’s not around all of Tom’s crazy, but this is still a very sad situation. She must miss her daddy, who would rather attend Scientology functions than act like a father. Tom’s priorities will always involve his own ego. He’ll hang from a plane like an idiot in order to continue his ridiculous action film legacy. I hope he regrets his behavior someday.

    The more we learn about Tom Cruise the more unlikeable he becomes. He really is a terrible father. First he made his older children stop seeing their mother and now he refuses to see Suri. I feel so sorry for all his kids.

    • kcarp says:

      I know. I always liked Tom Cruise. I mean come on who didn’t enjoy Cocktail and Jerry Maguire. Then we all started getting to know him. Hollywood was so much better before the internet. There is a reason these people were always guarded.

      I can’t even enjoy Urban Cowboy or Grease like I use to knowing John Travolta and his massAge antics.

      • Cindy1 says:

        He was so good in Rainman, but now that one is ruined too!

      • Abby says:

        This exactly. I can’t enjoy Cruise or Travolta in movies anymore. Their real-life behaviors tarnished their acting for me.

      • Petunia says:

        Agreed. Seems like , good or bad, with the exposure of the Internet, we’ve seen beyond the PR directives so delicately constructed and fed to us via People Mag. It’s like the adage ,” never meet your heroes”. In some ways it’s good that the mask of the majestic and perfect movie stars has been lifted. The flip side is , for me anyway, is what’s behind the mask seems a little sad. Years of revering these movie stars….. The idea of a movie star is gone. With reality tv and social media we’ve learned they’re not only not perfect, but a lot of them are morally depraved and so who greedy that they loose all self awareness and become cliche jokes of the person they were when they had something. Sorry for the rant….. Whatever your opinion of Tom Cruise, regardless of adults seeing the big picture and ‘” she’s better off..” , no child deserves to wonder where their daddy is. Especially when daddy is high profile so although he’s absent from her life, she still may see him on tv. Seeing those photos, staged for sure, breaks my heart. Although Tom is in it for PR, those little arms wrapped around his neck are those of a little girl clinging to her daddy….. Why does holly weird continue to play normal and get married? Worse, why have children???? See mostly all child stars or offspring of actors. Just don’t.

    • lucy2 says:

      That’s a good point about his older children too. He allowed, and possibly encouraged, them to cut off Nicole. I’m sure he only thought he was hurting Nicole, but it did a major disservice to the kids as well.

      • Priya says:

        Ever since I saw a picture of Tommy Davis, former Scientology PR dude, I’m not surprised that Cruise doesn’t care about Suri. Tommy Davis was the chosen sperm donor because Tom Cruise’s sperm are nonexistent.

      • S says:

        I thought it was Tom’s cousin that donated?

      • RhoSue says:

        I googled Tommy Davis and Suri Cruise. Sure enough, she looks exactly like Tommy Davis. It’s those eyes. His mother, Anne Archer, has the same eyes.

    • Cindy1 says:

      He really is awful. I am sorry I missed Going Clear, but I’ve seen snippets. It might be for the best that he is not in Suri’s life. She seems to have a good mom. She can be okay without freaky Tom Cruise.

      • M.A.F. says:

        HBO will keep replaying it. Or you can watch it on HBO Go if you subscribe to the channel.

      • doofus says:

        or OnDemand.

      • Cindy1 says:

        @doofus and MAF
        Thanks, I had no idea it was on On Demand. I will be watching tonight!

      • doofus says:

        Cindy1 – to clarify, it’s on HBO’s OnDemand service, not the one where you can “rent” a recently released movie.

        you have to have a HBO subscription to see it. sorry if that was unclear…

        ETA: I wouldn’t be surprised if they do release a DVD or BlueRay of it, though…it’s gotten so much chatter and publicity.

      • Cindy says:

        Damn, but thanks for trying. I’ll see it somehow!

      • Abby_J says:

        I was able to watch it this morning free on HBO on Demand. I have Xfinity, and do NOT have HBO, but it is their big Watch-a-thon week where a lot of subscription shows are free. Not sure if that is why.

        All I can say about it is yikes.

    • Jenns says:

      He is a creepy little worm and I am so glad that people are finally seeing him for who is really is. He has never been the good guy he pretends to be, at least, not while being an active Scientologist.

      • Sarah says:

        “creepy little worm”. Yes, that is the perfect description. We should thank Cruise for firing his former PR person years ago. She was great at image management but Cruise thought he could do better himself. Hahaha. And then the real Tom Cruise came out to play. Not a pretty picture. But he brought it on himself.

    • hermi! says:

      I’ve always disliked him and now many people are agreeing with me….

  2. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

    Not seeing your child for a year is inexcusable. I can’t imagine, unless it is absolutely out of your control, like you’re in the military deployed in another country. What is wrong with him?

    • aims says:

      Absolutely! I couldn’t go that long without seeing my kids. It would eat away at me. Totally unacceptable.

    • Astrid says:

      Not every father is worth it. There are excuses. My ex husband was only granted custody time for a few hours on Sundays. He is verbally and emotionally abusive. I have to drag the kids over there once a week and calm them down afterwards. Not every person is meant to be a parent.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

        Excellent point. I suppose some children are better off without them, but I meant I don’t get it from his perspective. What is he thinking, you know?

      • Cindy1 says:

        Agree completely.

      • V. says:

        My dad didn’t come visit me for 9 years after my mom left him when I was 2 and then stopped his visitation when I was 7 due to his drug use. I missed him, but I’m so glad my mom shielded me from his crazy. Suri will be fine…Katie really has her stuff together and comes from a strong family herself.

      • Maria A. says:

        Once my mother moved away when I was ten months old, I never saw my father again. That used to bother me, but then when I finally got to know my half-siblings only a few years ago I realized that I was the lucky one: he wasn’t around me to mess me up emotionally.

    • jen2 says:

      Suri is. I think, considered by CO$, a suppressive person, just like her mother and is not someone that he is allowed to have contact with. The same as Nicole and her children with Tom. She is a suppressive person and cannot be a part of their lives. Tom can see them though as they are still in CO$. Suri was his jewel and probably considered a prize for CO$. That is until Katie came to her senses and got the hell out of dodge. She also now looks consistently happy. I remember she used to look pained at times and for a child, that is wrong. They both used her in photo ops especially before and then again after the divorce, but that seems to not be the case so much now.

      That, to me is the worst part of CO$. That a person would choose his “religion” over his child because they tell him to is reprehensible.

    • Ennie says:

      Well, people in his cult wears uniform like the military, I bet they are influenced a similar mindset… Sad all around in a way, on the other hand Suri has a shot to a different life. She was most probably going to be cut from one side of the family (Katie’s parents), and as it turns out, Tom’s family are the ones who were cut. Interesting turn of events.
      Tiny Tommy surely chose well his second and third wives. Nicole, the child of a Psychologist and the second one, daughter of a lawyer. Who will he choose next? The daughter of a very ethical journalist, please!!

      • delphi says:

        Not only that. Upper level $cientologi$ts are essentially told that children are a hinderance to their “moving up the bridge” and “attaining clear”. $eaOrg members (according not only to “Going Clear”, but also documentation posted on Tony Ortega’s “Underground Bunker” and items I’ve scrounged up in my own research for a play I wrote) are actively encouraged to get abortions, or to abandon infants outright because they’re a drain on the energy that is supposed to be focused on the church.

        Not to mention LRH’s sh*t-tastic relationships with his own children. I think only one is even in the church anymore, the others either hightailed it out of there, and one son killed himself in Las Vegas in the early 70s.

        Zoiks. I know an unhealthy amount of crap about this organization and the mindset of those who stay in it. I’d almost feel sorry for them if they weren’t so freaking arrogant!

      • Deedee says:

        Im sure David Miscavige will not make that mistake again.

      • bette says:

        The military aren’t a bunch of trained monkeys no matter what you think. I was in military intelligence for 10 years and it was one of the hardest but rewarding jobs I’ve ever had. The teamwork is also very cohesive consisting of people from every place in the country and every background.

        If you want to see a bunch of people with the “Group-think” ing of mindset, just walk around a college campus.

    • Fritanga says:

      What’s wrong with him is the Co$. Holmes and his daughter are “suppressive persons” and as such he has to stay away from their horrible anti-Scientologist influence. His older children are still part of the cult, so of course he sees them all the time. Simple. And disgusting.

    • CB says:

      Yes, sadly this.

    • Merritt says:

      He would rather be with Co$ than his child. After the way he ruined the relationship between Nicole and the older kids, I’m less inclined to feel sorry for him. For awhile I thought she could have done more, but given the way Katie had to escape secretly and with more revelations about Co$ coming out, I can see why Nicole struggled so much.

    • Tiffany :) says:

      I am not a Cruise fan, but I don’t think we should take the tabloids word as truth, here.

      It is very possible he was seeing her with out the press around. We haven’t really seen him at all since the hubbub surrounding the Ninja divorce went down.

    • ISO says:

      We may see an era whereby cults are illegal and CERTAINLY can’t claim tax exemption! It actually pains me that a cult like this had publicly abused all three kids of Tom’s by tearing apart their basic family structure. This cult does hack therapy with new inductees then basically black mails for a lifetime of compliance. We can hate on these brain washed celebs, but the evil is the cult itself.

      • Bob Loblaw says:

        Oh come on, many churches do as much if not worse and maintain their tax exempt status. Scientology is a scam, just like every other church in town, they should all pay taxes, tax exempt status needs to end for all of them. I don’t find insitutionailzed and sanctioned pedophilia anymore palatable than Sea Org.

      • bellenola says:

        I appreciate your sentiment but I would rather the government not decide which religions are ‘illegal’ per se. People are responsible to make their own decisions on that front. It is a shame Scientology retains their tax-exempt status however.

  3. Astrid says:

    It’s not the worst thing in the world to not have contact with a father. Suri leads an interesting and charmed life, despite Tom.

    • Dena says:

      True. But this one has to hurt cause he lost big time all the way around. Perhaps he is burying his hurt in work & plotting revenge with lawyers or bidding his time on the side. To me, he has the look of full onboard crazy. It radiates from his eyes (what u can see of them). I’m sure Suri would be afraid and creeped out by him and his level of intensity–given the instincts of the young.

      • Sabrine says:

        I think Tom is a restless a-type sort of person and when he does spend time with Suri, he’s bored, wishing he were someplace else, swinging off an airplane or something. He doesn’t like the one on one aspect of the visit, all on him to keep her busy and entertained. He probably enjoys being with the two older ones a lot more; he can go to sporting events with them, do guy stuff with Connor. Spending time with an eight year old is not his cup of tea even if she is his daughter. He doesn’t have very deep feelings or feelings of remorse, not many anyway.

    • Thinker says:

      I think this is probably true. Sometimes it’s better off for a child to be away from an unhealthy parent. I would consider Cruise’s involvement with a cult to be unhealthy and unsafe, it’s better off that Suri isn’t surrounded by Tom and his minions. Maybe one day he will see the light and leave Xenu for good.

      • lucy2 says:

        I would hope so, but I’m not optimistic. And even if he did, I wouldn’t blame his daughter if she declined to reform a relationship with him later, considering he chose a cult over his own child.

      • Bex says:

        Exactly, I’ve also noticed that the inappropriate high heels and clothing Suri used to wear stopped once the father was not around. Kate got her daughter out just before she was ruiner by that cult. She must have had such a battle at first giving Suri boundaries once they’d escaped.

  4. Caitlin Bruce says:

    I think Katie proberly prefers it this way but hate’s how he try’s to act like he does see Suri and is there for her when he clearly isn’t. He has a private jet and million of dollars if that was my dad I know I would grow up to resent him.

  5. Tracy says:

    His ego, fueled by his ridiculously manipulated status in that absurd ‘religion’ has inflated to such a point that he cannot bear to be subservient to a mere mortal, Katie Holmes, in seeing his child. You think he could use his teleporting skills (massive eye roll) to nip in and play with the poor kid once in a while.

    Fame ruined him, and David Miscavage corrupted him. And Tom Cruise let it happen.

    • Dena says:

      When he says he sees her a lot he probably means that he his handlers and spies take pictures and videos of Suri and brings those back to him for viewing. So, technically, he does she her all of the time just not in person. They may even do webcam visits–which would really be Xenu overlord creepy.

    • Ennie says:

      +1

    • ickythump says:

      Nicely said – Suri is better away from him. He is a full blown flake – a rich and powerful one but a flake nonetheless.

    • Hautie says:

      “Fame ruined him, and David Miscavage corrupted him. And Tom Cruise let it happen….”
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~
      I do wonder what Cruise’s position will be, when it all fails.
      If there is one thing that always happens. That Cults come to an end. Normally over a power struggle.
      And this Cult has lost so much of his bullying power… whom manage to embarrass the IRS in an HBO special. By letting the public know it bullsh*tted the IRS into getting its tax exemption.
      I would be willing to think that their days are number now. The IRS is needing some money. And I bet there is a federal prosecutor who is currently hiring a new staff… to get that exemption removed.
      • lucy2 says:
        I would love the IRS to re-evaluate it’s position.
        I do think they’re in trouble – so much bad publicity, membership low, high ranking members not just jumping ship but spilling the terrible secrets, the general public starting to realize how scary the whole thing is.
  6. He and Suri vacationed at the Greenbrier Resort in 2013. I think he’s all kinds of cray cray, but I don’t buy the “no contact in over a year” crap they’re selling either. That divorce was too bitter and her exit to well executed for her to let him skate on visitation. If he were really having no contact, (and Katie had issues with it) she’d have already taken him back to court to terminate his parental rights. She hasn’t, so either 1) they have a agreed to a flexible parenting plan, (in which case these stories are B.S.) or 2) he is seeing Suri. There’s no way I’d let my ex husband go a year with no contact, and most parents I know feel the same way.
    • pleaseicu says:
      2013 ended 16 months ago though. I think if Tom still had regular contact with Suri, he’d make sure the public knew about it. He did every other time he visited her/holidayed with her.
      Katie might prefer no physical visits between Suri and Tom. Less chance for the Church to try anything.
      And it’s possible that Suri’s been labeled as a suppressive person by COS and Tom’s cut off contact with her because of that. If there ever was a true believer in all aspects of COS, it’s Tom.
      • That’s my point-if there’s no physical contact, Katie must be ok with it. If she’s ok with it, her camp needs to quit feeding these stories to the press. I wouldn’t want to rock the boat if I were ok with the situation, because that could force him to make a move he might not have otherwise.
      • noway says:
        I don’t think Katie’s team is feeding this to the press. I think with the recent scientology documentary now on HBO, the press and gossip mags are just picking it up because it fits perfectly into how the documentary said scientology is run. I think Katie is probably fine and didn’t want to rock the Cruise crazy boat, hopefully this won’t make her life or Suri’s worse.
      • Quoted from above:
        “Sources connected to Katie Holmes tell TMZ … it’s worse than that.”
        If she’s fine with the status quo, she needs to shut the leaks. He has a movie coming out this summer and will want to combat the negative stories with the “daddy/daughter” publicity blitz.
      • noway says:
        So now we believe Scientology statements and TMZ’s sources? Just out of curiosity what are they supposed to say. Can’t wait for the Scientologist quote yes they are all SP’s and TMZ we just surmised this, because we have no real sources with people. We are just creative. I was just saying I don’t believe either TMZ sources or Scientology quotes. Doesn’t mean they might not be right, as I don’t think Tom would miss at least an opportunity to have him look like a loving father to Suri. I kind of believe he has limited contact with her, especially since she is not a scientologist.
    • mememe says:
      Or 3) These stories are not BS. He hasn’t seen Suri in a year, and Katie is happy about that, so she stays quiet. Maybe she doesn’t want Cruise around her kid.
      • doofus says:
        THIS.
        as so many have said, he used visits with her as photo ops and made sure people knew…and didn’t he go so far as to invite some tabloid writer to swim with Suri and him at some hotel pool in order to get the word out that he DOES see her?
        and now?…nothing. you can bet dollars to donuts that if he had a visit with her, the press would know about it.
        he’s not seeing her, and Holmes is JUST FINE with that.
    • KellyBee says:
      (she’d have already taken him back to court to terminate his parental rights. )
      Why would she do that? Katie is getting child support so why would she take him to court to terminate his parental rights? Which would mean he wouldn’t be obligated to pay child support. Not to mention Tom would have to agree to something like that. A judge can’t force him to do it or take away his rights as a parent, only under extreme circumstances can that happen.
      Katie can’t force Tom to physical see Suri if he chooses not to. It has been Tim’s decision to do movie after movie overseas instead of physical being there for his child.
      • MizFabulous says:
        Spot-on, KellyBee. Visitation is a privilege granted to the non-custodial parent by the court, not a requirement. Paying child support, on the other hand, is a requirement. Not exercising visitation is not contempt of court, but failing to pay child support is. Conversely, the custodial parent interfering with the other parent’s right to visitation IS contempt of court. Regarding termination of parental rights, courts will only grant a termination of parental rights in extreme circumstances, unless the parent whose rights are being terminated agrees. 99 times out of 100, when a person agrees to that, it’s simply to get out of paying child support. And yes, child support ends when the parental rights are terminated. Why in the world would Katie do such a stupid thing if the child is not in danger?
      • This was not your standard bitter divorce. She had started the procedure and gotten disposable cell phones before he knew she was out the door. If (as so many people have suggested) she fled because of the cult-like mentality of the COS, why would she NOT want the court to intervene? I know LOTS of other parents who have motioned to terminate rights for less!
        If she’s fine with the non standard visitation, pointing it out to the tabloids is counterproductive. All that is going to do is put the Tom Cruise Publicity Machine to work.
    • kcarp says:
      The way she got out of dodge i don’t think she really wants him to visit. I don’t think she will stand in way but I don’t she will bend over backwards.
      Imagine letting your kid go for a weekend witb scientoligists. Who’s to say once they got her they would give her back. They gazillions of dollArs they could easily buy a judge to sign off on a custody change.
    • MC2 says:
      I don’t think Katie Holmes has ANY responsibility in this. This is all on Tom. And can a parent force another parent to spend time with their kid?! If she tried to sever his parental rights she’d be going against a millionaire with plenty of dirty lawyers (and scummy PIs, and who knows what else). It would be a nightmare for her & Suri. If Katie is living a somewhat peaceful life I doubt she wants to throw a stone at a hornets nest.
    • bored mom says:
      Eh. My ex husband hasn’t seen out daughter in well over a year. And I’m NOT okay with it. But I refuse to force it. I have offered all kinds of accommodation to make it easier but I won’t force it. It isn’t my place to manipulate their relationship. Unfortunately, that’s between them and all I can do is provide a loving, supportive environment and give her the confidence to navigate the situation. She’s only 6, and I wish it wasn’t so apparent her dad is a dead beat, but it’s crueler to force it now so her illusions can be shattered in her.vulnerable teen years.
      • noway says:
        Even though I think this has more to do with Scientology, you are correct that there are a lot of fathers and some mothers who just bail on their kids. I feel sorry for the other parent and the child the most, but if no effort is ever made I think it is really hard to push it. I feel bad for your daughter and you, and you really just need to make the best decisions you can with the situation you are in. Good luck.
    • Lucky Charm says:
      Just because a parent has visitation, you can’t FORCE them to it. My ex refused to see our kids on weekends, holidays, or vacations for years, even though it was in the custody agreement. I once drove them to his place to drop them off just so that he couldn’t say “No” and his girlfriend called the police, because he didn’t want to see them. Was I happy that my children weren’t seeing their father? Of course not. Were they better off ultimately without him in their life? Yes, absolutely. As they got older they could see for themselves what he was like, and were glad they didn’t have to deal with that growing up.
  7. CarolinaBelle says:
    I really believe the rumors that Tommy Davis is the biological father. Hence, why the TC/KH divorce went through so quickly and quietly. The resemblance is beyond uncanny…
    • Emma - the JP Lover says:
      @CarolinaBelle …
      My money is still on Josh Hartnett.
    • Jaded says:
      I too have always thought that TD is Suri’s bio father as well. Tom may very well have an inheritable genetic disease called holoprosencephaly which in a mild form can cause dental deformities (one central incisor, eyes close together), and in more severe cases retardation and massive facial deformities. If he carries this gene, she may have been impregnated via test tube with what she thought was viable sperm that had been genetically tested, but TD’s was used instead. Maybe Katie found out and it was the straw that broke the camel’s back in their marriage.
      • Cindy1 says:
        Wow, really? Now I will have to google this. So he carries a recessive gene maybe? He (TC) doesn’t have these characteristics, obviously. Didn’t he buy an ultrasound machine during Katie’s pregnancy? Could this be why? Oh Tom Cruise, you really are a weird one. ( And by weird I am NOT referring to his genes, just his behavior).
      • Jaded says:
        @Cindy1 – Google “childhood photos of Tom Cruise” before he got his teeth fixed – they are horribly deformed with one central tooth (which he still has by the way).
      • Cindy says:
        Just googled them. His teeth were really deformed. Looking at pictures of him when he was young made me sad. Before he was hopelessly brainwashed. I wonder if he had a crappy childhood? Although, plenty of people with good childhoods become a holes and vice versa.
    • Christin says:
      There is a photo of mom, daughter and another girl at a kids’ awards show in late March that shows an amazing, uncanny resemblance to TD.
    • Betti says:
      I have always thought Suri looked a little like Chris Klein, particularly when she was a toddler – i always thought that he was the natural father as she got together and pregnant way to quickly with TC after they split for good. She’s about 8 now so am sure she’s aware of how absent he is from her life but Katie seems like a very good mother with a good family around her.
    • Senaber says:
      I agree. I think he never sees her because she isn’t his. There are no parental rights to terminate.
      I know in my state any child born to married parents belongs legally to the husband even if the child is not biologically his. Is that how it is in California? Where was Suri born again?
    • MC2 says:
      Wtf?! I’ve never heard of the conspiracy that Tom’s not the father! I always thought Suri looked just like him.
    • Blip says:
      Yeah I always thought this was the main reason for the quick divorce.
    • littlestar says:
      I didn’t believe the rumours that Tommy Davis was Suri’s biological father, just thought it was just people getting worked up over nothing. Until I watched Going Clear this weekend and saw actual video footage of Davis. Wow. It’s uncanny how much Davis and Suri resemble each other, facially and in colouring. I think I’m on the conspiracy theory now too, that he is her bio father.
      And Cruise will never leave the Co$. They treat him like a god and he thinks he is a god. It’s disturbing and downright crazy.
      • Hissyfit says:
        I just googled Tommy Davis and my goodness! He looks exactly like Suri! And he does kind of resemble Tom Cruise a little bit maybe that’s why Suri looks a bit of both men.
    • misstee says:
      If you watched Going Clear there are moments with Tommy Davis where it seems undeniable – she even pulls the same pissed off face as him!
      On this situation – it really gets on my nerves that everyone falls for the Katie as victim crap – she was smart enough to get a ironclad pre nup, and extricate herself from him with maximum PR damage to his camp – she knew EXACTLY what she was getting into when she married him.
      • Hissyfit says:
        This. I’ve heard a couple of stories before with some people who knew her from Ohio even before the divorce came up, said she isn’t really this sweet, innocent, girl next door she is trying to portray in the media. She knew exactly what she was getting in to (Scientology) and had it all planned out.
      • The Other Pinky says:
        Oh please. Not even people who had been in that cult for 3 decades knew how deep the rabbit hole went.
    • Mrs. Darcy says:
      I never believed that if Suri wasn’t Toms’ it was someone in Scientology after they got together (not that I’d put it past Scientology). I was more inclined to think Katie was knocked up when they got together due to the main conspiracy being she had the baby much earlier than claimed.
      But honestly she is looking more and more like Tom to me lately. I feel sorry for the child, it must be confusing to say the least, she’s an only child as far as the Katie Tom thing goes, who was the apple of her Dad’s eye. If he’s unwilling to do visitation the way Katie wants that’s really a shame, he is obviously bonkers but also still the kid’s Dad. Yes he’s in a freaky cult and god knows what that has entailed and I totally support Katie in the way she got out alive, but Suri is going to need heavy duty therapy when she gets older to begin to explain this sh*t. They need to educate her somewhat about it so she’s not vulnerable, because the teenage thing is always to rebel against what we’re told is bad, and that is just when Tom could win her back. It sucks but that’s what I would do. Maybe by then it will be shut down and exposed for the criminal cult it is.
    • GByeGirl says:
      I think Tom is not her father and they’re just trying to phase him out of her life. I think that Tom is Connor’s father, though.
  8. Talie says:
    Of course he doesn’t want Suri… he lost to Katie in all ways, and Suri reminds him of that. He won with the other two kids.
  9. Virgilia Coriolanus says:
    Erm, it won’t matter if he regrets his behavior “one day”….because he wasn’t there. Even if she forgives him, etc, their relationship will NEVER be the same, because of HIS choices.
    • Vava says:
      This is true. I’ve seen this in our extended family. My BIL distanced himself from his children after divorcing their mother over 30 years ago, and those daughters have little good to say about him even now. Abandonment is a deep wound in childhood and not easily resolved when the kids become adults.
      • VirgiliaCoriolanus says:
        Yes, I know from experience. Bio dad has to be dragged to court (under threat of spending some time in jail via the military), demands a paternity test (to waste time, NOT because he didn’t know that we were his), and then says that if he is forced to pay any sort of child support (let alone the $100 for TWO kids, for only six more years–which is what was originally offered, away from the court system), then we won’t ever have a relationship…fine, good….AND THEN after I turn 18 starts making noises that he wants to meet us…..after child support is done. FFS.
    • Kara says:
      its all true but still better than to get her into the cult. i think abandoning her is the better of those two terrible choices.
    • littlestar says:
      You are so right about that!
  10. alicegrey12 says:
    Tom Cruise is one weird Man. He can hang out with his son Connor, but Suri is nothing but invisible to him, his own daughter. See what happens when the only two friends you have are Scientology and your own ego. What a waste.
  11. dr mantis toboggan says:
    This is the most compelling evidence I’ve seen that Suri is not his bio daughter. Because Tom cruise is a psychopath, in my unprofessional opinion, and as such he would view his bio offspring as his property. And he would never let anyone take his property from him.
    I think the scientology just enables his psychopathy, his first and only love will always be himself.
    • mimif says:
      Yep, think you hit the nail on the head with your opening sentence.
    • frisbeejada says:
      That makes sense to me. Just had a look at photo’s of Tommy Davis and Suri is the image of him. I suspect he’s more likely to have narcissistic personality disorder. It may explain why he’s fallen hard for the ‘savior’ crap COS have been feeding him. It would also account for a possible need to ‘win’ in any kind of conflict situation and his lack of interest and or concern in Suri. As someone else’s child she is no reflection of him and his ginormous ego so she is meaningless to him. Poor little girl, but I think she’s better of as far away from him and his lunatic religion as possible.
    • FingerBinger says:
      How is that proof that Tom isn’t Suri’s father? Bio parents walk out on and neglect their bio children all the time.
    • Shambles says:
      I’m sorry but I don’t see it at all. She has Tom’s bone structure– chin and cheeks. And her nose looks like an exact combination of Tom and Katie’s.
    • mayamae says:
      Connor and Isabella are not Tom’s biological children, yet he was sure to keep them and alienate them from Nicole. What’s happening with Suri has nothing to do with biology, and everything to do with CO$.
    • Asiyah says:
      “I think the scientology just enables his psychopathy, his first and only love will always be himself. ”
      Sooooo eloquent! You hit the nail on the head with that one.
      • Mrs. Darcy says:
        I don’t know, if we’re playing armchair psychologist I lean more narcissist/damaged kid with daddy issues. Sure he probably thinks he’s the number one Thetan in the land, but I think his ego is severely damaged from his childhood for whatever reason that he sought out such a deranged surrogate family. He obviously yearns to belong there more than anything, sacrificing everything when required.
        A true psychopath would not continually attempt to construct romantic “relationships” with women , or be capable of sustaining them for years the way he has. He’s capable of wooing and romancing women and treating them well enough to think the Scientology craziness is remotely worth it, contract or no. If the guy was a raging psycho 24/7 no one would put up with that for any amount of time, no matter how fat the paycheck. I think as the years have gone by and the top dogs in Sci-bot land have become ever nuttier, Tom has fallen in line like a good soldier. He’s not a mastermind, he’s brainwashed, completely. I don’t think he is any more capable of breaking free than any other cult devotee.
  12. Nicolette says:
    He’s become such a creep over the years. It’s sad that he hasn’t seen his daughter but she may be better off for it. Talented man yes, but he’s got some screws loose for sure. Katie seems to be a hands on mom and hopefully will help make up for his absence. Where there’s a will there’s a way and if he really wanted to see his child, he would.
  13. GingerCrunch says:
    Like Bedhead says, it’s probably for the best. But shame on you, Tom.
  14. maeliz says:
    If he’d rather attend Scientology functions than see his daughter, maybe he shouldn’t have had any kids. When Suri grows up, she’ll probably be thankful her mother got the two of them out of the cult
  15. Debbie says:
    I am sure he has labeled his own daughter, and I fully believe she is tom’s bio child, as an suppressive person and will cut her out of his life. I also think this is probably for the best in all honesty. Terrible to think but really for the best.
    As for not seeing her because he is busy… No excuse this man has more money. He has endless resources and if he wanted to see her he could. He isn’t in the armed forces for heaven sakes he is a movie star.
    He doesn’t care.
  16. Joy says:
    He doesn’t want anything to do with a child he can’t parent the CO$ way. That little girl is beyond his grasp, so she is therefore an SP. Doesn’t matter that she’s a little girl. In his mind, and in the mind of the CO$, she is not to be contacted I’m sure.
  17. I Do Say says:
    Suri does not comply, Suri must be suppressed.
    What an ass of a father.
    If I were Katie, I wouldn’t worry too much over Tom’s absence. Just get the little girl positive male role models.
  18. Lbliss says:
    Once you leave Scientology you are shunned for life. What a great “religion”.
    • Bob Loblaw says:
      They didn’t invent excommunication.
      • The Other Pinky says:
        True. Although the mark of a sinister cult is that excommunication requires all other members to break contact with you. I don’t think say the Catholics or Anglicans require this disconnection. Mormons, Jehovah Witnesses and Scientologists do though.
      • Lucky Charm says:
        An excommunicated Catholic is only excluded from receiving Sacraments and participating in other church events, but they are still allowed to have as much contact as they want with their friends and family. In fact, that’s encouraged. Why waste an opportunity to convince them to repent and come back into the Church by shunning them?
  19. minx says:
    She is probably better off. He’s nuts.
  20. Suri says:
    Wut an ego. Hes so selfish and stubborn ..its about Kate and her “betrayal” he cant let go of Its all about him and his pride. Thats more important than a child’s feeling to him! I dont watch his movies anymore loser
    • Beep says:
      Agreed. He’s a creepy a -hole. I Can’t stand Tom Cruise and I used to be a huge fan.
  21. Adrien says:
    The last time we saw the girl was at some kiddie awards show and she looks very, very happy. She’ll be fine without Tom.
    • Kara says:
      as heartbreaking as “father hasnt seen child in over a year” sounds on paper, i agree in this case its wonderful.
  22. veronica says:
    I have trouble being away from my daughter for a night, I can’t even begin to fathom being away from her for months or even a year!
  23. Blip says:
    By Scientology’s rules Tom Cruise can NOT meet his daughter. It is forbidden. Disconnection is an inherent part of Scientology’s disciplinary system and has lead to thousands of broken families. If Tom were to meet Suri it would be interpreted as a MASSIVE slap in the face by all the people whose families Scientology has destroyed.
    Anyone who leaves Scientology is considered a Suppressive Person (SP), an enemy of the church. Being in contact with Katie/Suri would make Tom a Potential Trouble Source (PTS), which means endless hours of interrogation until the connection is severed. If a scientologist is unwilling to cut ties with an SP, they themselves become outcasts. Tom’s other kids are scientologists, Suri is not.
    I highly recommend listening to this recording of a woman facing disconnection from her family. She’s not even a member of the church, but her husband is:
    http://tonyortega.org/2015/03/30/audio-leak-hear-a-scientologist-being-declared-suppressive-and-facing-the-loss-of-her-family/
    • The Original G says:
      I think that might be a very good argument for keeping his visitation under the radar or at best vague.
    • Ennie says:
      This audio is terrible!!! how sad what they do and in such a robotic, impersonal manner.
      F **** scientology!
    • ScrewStewrat19 says:
      Yea, but the rules are bent for Tom and other celebrities. I think if he wanted to see her he would. I also think Katie prefers it this way though and that she probably is the reason Tom doesn’t have much contact with Suri. It was probably part of the divorce agreement
    • Livvers says:
      Except, Tony Ortega and Mike Rinder have both shown rather definitively that the rules of disconnection are regularly overlooked for Scientology’s celebrities and “whales” (big donors), but stringently enforced for the average church member. I think this is more on Tom’s hateful personality (however warped by the cult it is) than forced disconnection.
    • Blip says:
      Oh absolutely, the rules are bent heavily for celebrities and especially for Tom Cruise. He is by no means a victim in this situation. Tom has had two marriages blow up because of Miscavige but he’s too crazy to care. I wonder though if Miscavige would let Tom meet Suri (if she even is biologically his). I mean if news of Tom’s continuing visits were to reach the church members’ ears, the flood gates would break open. And Miscavige would end up in court.
  24. anne_000 says:
    I don’t think the CO$ is going to admit to the public who are the SPs, especially in this case.
    If I were Kate, I wouldn’t complain because I think it’s safer for Suri and her that Tom not be around.
  25. Judyk says:
    Hasn’t seen her in a year…sounds like my ex-husband. She lived with me and he claimed her as a deduction though he never saw her and he wonders why she’s messed up.
    She’s spent her life looking for a father figure.
  26. Kara says:
    i would say its inexcusable and would even resort to name calling but only in other cases. in this case its best when he does not see her.
  27. KellyBee says:
    This really shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. While to had custody of his other to kids it who were raised by Tom sister while he was off filming around the world.
  28. Brittney B says:
    I live in Tampa, and I was hanging out at a waterfront bar right next to the arena that day… so weird to hear that Tom was there. I wouldn’t have recognized Connor, so maybe I saw him and didn’t know it.
    As a local, I’m actually a little embarrassed to see so many people clamoring to get a picture. We’re right next to Clearwater, where Scientologists are always swarming and harassing people, and I thought awareness was higher in these parts. I guess not… or I guess movie star status outweighs creepy cult membership.
    Actually… now that I’m thinking about it… that might be part of the reason for their attendance! They probably stayed with their cult buddies and hit up the headquarters while they were here. Eww.
    • Anne says:
      Yeah, I think he figured he could make an informal “public” appearance, be photographed with adoring fans, and that image would do the rounds, sending a controlled, positive message in this negative press storm.
  29. Anastasia says:
    He has abandoned his child and his relationship with her, whatever it once was.
    And I’ve never ever for one second been convinced that she’s his biologically.
    • Anne says:
      isn’t it a weird situation? His relationship with Katie was weird from the beginning and it all got stranger and stranger . . .
  30. lucy2 says:
    “but we’ve checked with the Church and we’re told that is simply not true.” LOL. Because they’re SO honest all the time.
    The whole situation is very sad, but probably best for Suri. Katie’s family seems very close, and maybe someday she’ll meet some nice guy who is a great stepfather for Suri.
  31. tabasco says:
    I’m calling BS on “the Church” not having declared Katie and/or Suri SPs. They may not have officially declared them SPs so that they can say they haven’t, but I’d bet good $ the treatment/message is the same as if they were.
    It sounds to me like Katie is having some info about Tom not seeing Suri fed to TMZ. Not sure this is wise. I get her having the urge to publicly call out his BS about seeing her all the time if that’s not the case, but gurl, be careful. If Tom is really pretty much out of Suri’s life at this point, plus he’s batsh*t crazy, then Katie would be wise to consider it a blessing that he’s out of the picture. Last thing Suri needs is Tom re-starting pap time with her. IMO, she’s better off without a father who is only there very inconsitently, basically to use her, and totally cray.
  32. M.A.F. says:
    Holmes used to do the pap walk too with Suri. The Kids Choice awards was the first time in a long time that I’ve seen their daughter out in public. Cruise’s mistake was suing in the first place. Had he not done that, I doubt this would be a story or it would just be a small story.
  33. Angie says:
    This definitely makes me wonder if she’s his biological child. If she was his flesh and blood he’d want to be close to her for ego reasons if nothing else. Very sad for Suri.
  34. Ameoba says:
    Everything is for show with him. I can’t help but compare him to Brad Pitt. And BP won. Simply on account of lack of desperation.
  35. Izzy says:
    I don’t remember where I saw it, but on one commentary someone was saying that a lot of $cilons had their noses out of joint that Tom Cruise was getting such special treatment, that he got that ridiculous medal when so many of them worked so hard, etc. So I can totally see how he would either disconnect from Suri, or at least make it look like that publicly. Otherwise, you’d have all the other $cilons going, “I had to disconnect from my family, why doesn’t he?” And they’d be right. Still delusional for staying in that cult, but on that point, right on.
  36. Evyn says:
    Didn’t he win a lawsuit last year against a tabloid that ran a similar story?
    Apparently he was able to prove otherwise, so I don’t believe this story from Katie’s source.
    • KellyBee says:
      Yes and no. It was proven that Tom had not physically seen Suri in 72+ days which he could not deny underoath. But Tom said he would video chat with her so “technically” he didn’t abandoned Suri like the magazine claimed.
      The tabloid magazine publicly apologized for saying he abandoned Suri but didn’t retracts the statement made about Tom not physically seen Suri in 72 days. In the end going to court end up hurting Tom image more than the magazine.
      • mayamae says:
        Didn’t he compare making movies to serving and dying for your country?
      • KellyBee says:
        Yes he did and the more he talked the crazier he sounded which is why he went away for awhile after that.
      • Bob Loblaw says:
        Plenty of people have jobs that take them away from their families for 72 days or more, it’s a lame criticism, I’m not claiming he’s a good father but his career is real. He isn’t the only person on set separated from their kids, why aren’t we criticizing them too? Because it doesn’t fit the narrative of pile on Tom day.
      • Ennie says:
        The big stars are allowed to have their children on set. They are absolutely privileged. There is no comparison to a lesser worker. I’d understand this about a grip, a make up artist that has to be there, but millionaire powerful actors? no, unless they are workaholic who do not leave/make time for their families.
        In that taped phone call made between Nicole and Tom, she was complaining that he did not make more time for their relationship. She came off a bit whiny, but after seeing what he does to his younger daughter, that older situation has a tingle of truth. He is working -working- working making money for his church and that is his main goal.
  37. Nimbolicious says:
    Brilliant, Bedhead. “He’d rather hang from a plane like an idiot in order to continue his ridiculous action film legacy.” Although I’d put the last word in quotes, for sure. That just sums it all up, doesn’t it?
  38. Ugh pls says:
    Katie Holmes is an SP according to the church of servitude and billion year contracts. He would have had to disconnect from both mother and daughter as they are SP’s according to the “laws” of $cientology.
    Thank goodness Holmes got her child out in time.
  39. Ugh pls says:
    Pretty sure the “source close to Holmes” is her extremely well connected legal eagle dad – same dad who convinced her to get the disposable phones.
    This is one PR battle TC has zero chance at winning.
  40. Anna says:
    Hi this is seriously getting on my nerve but where can we watch the HBO Going Clear in the UK? I so want to see it and I can’t find it anywhere online. Can someone help please.
    • oopsie says:
      look for it on utube, u have to be quick though or it gets taken down and posted elsewhere
  41. floridaseaturtle says:
    I came to see why Rob Kardashian was photo bombing him while wearing a parka.
  42. Sam says:
    The ironic thing is that Tom used to do interviews where he was very frank that his own dad was pretty lousy and that he never, ever wanted to be like his own father and wanted to be a great dad, blah, blah…
    Well now it seems like he’s not. He cares more about his church and his career. The impact fathers have on kids, especially young daughters, is so profound and it’s a an awful shame that he’s chosen this. I hope that Katie is giving Suri as much time as she can and that she had other male relatives around her who build her up. Tom clearly isn’t doing that.
  43. jenn12 says:
    I really hope that this isn’t true and that he sees her quietly, because any “religion” that declares your child off limits is evil and Tom should love his child enough to stand up to them. Or maybe he’s just in his 50s, tired, and wants to focus on his career as opposed to raising a young child. I would like to hope that isn’t the case. Poor kid, all this public commotion about her dad not wanting her.
    • Bob Loblaw says:
      In “Going Clear” one of the escapees talks about how the “church” labeled her son an SP and then herself and her husband because they wouldn’t cut ties with him. Then her grown daughter, with her young grandchild, disconnected from her and stayed with the Co$. She hasn’t seen or spoken to her daughter or granddaughter since. While I agree it is an evil institution, I also struggle to understand how anyone willingly goes along with “disconnecting” from a parent or child on the say so of a third party.
  44. Asiyah says:
    His best film role was the character he played in “Magnolia” and that’s because he wasn’t acting. He is just like that guy.
  45. Iheartgossip says:
    I guess his ‘church’ doesn’t teach about parenting? What a shame. The curtain has been pulled back on both Tom & John. boo.
  46. jwoolman says:
    Maybe Suri isn’t bothered at all by his absence. She was used to him being gone for long periods. Maybe they’re skyping every day for all we know, or maybe she’s just happily living her life without any contact.
    Back in ancient times pre-computer and pre-cheap long distance phone, my sperm donor, er, dad got to the point where he would waltz into town once a year. I actually decided myself I’d had enough by the age of 14 when I discovered he was married (hadn’t quite legally divorced my mom yet…) and had other kids he hadn’t managed to tell us about (so he wasn’t languishing in loneliness as I had assumed). He was no longer my problem, and it was liberating! I don’t think he missed me and I certainly didn’t miss him. I was much happier not having to pretend to be connected and having the obligation to write fake letters occasionally to a fake father I didn’t really know, and pretending to like seeing him when he was always a tad drunk on his visits anyway. He wasn’t an evil guy but there really wasn’t any relationship there. He was too damaged (his parents were awful, didn’t like children, and he was their oldest) to be a real father to any of his kids, which was his loss but just the way he was.
    If Tom really isn’t seeing Suri, that might be true for them also. Maybe he was always more in the role of an uncle she saw very occasionally and maybe that’s all the relationship he could manage, people have limitations even without Co$ weirdness. She’ll be fine, you just need one decent parent. Kids are much more adaptable than many people realize and they can accept such limitations more easily than many assume.
    It’s really none of our business, we can’t really know the truth anyway, and hounding Tom about Suri in the tabloids is not going to be helpful for either of them. If he’s not seeing her now, she can always develop a relationship with him when she is older if she wants. My older brother did that with our sperm donor, um, dad, sort of. My brother’s overtures had less than satisfactory results, but his dad probably responded to the only extent he was capable of doing. I didn’t bother because I honestly didn’t feel the need. But my brother felt more connected because he was older (more years with the guy full time) and because he was male.
  47. Isabelle says:
    Suri doesn’t know her father is ‘crazy’ because of COS. So she is innocent of him being a little fruit loops. While its probably best for her, its still her Dad. Even as adults we tend too love even our batshait crazy parents. Feel bad for Suri, at least she has Katie. Who seems to be a stable & protective parent.
  48. RobN says:
    I don’t buy the Scientology SP stuff at all. They need Tom Cruise more than he needs them, at this point, with celebrities bailing and talking like mad. If he wanted to see his kid, he’d see her.
    What I’d like to know is what does Katie have on him that allows her to control the post divorce relationship as much as she does? There’s a real story there, somewhere.
    • Cindy says:
      Interesting thought. This Cruise saga just gets stranger by the day. If it was fiction it would probably be written off as too bizarre, yet here we are.
    • MrsBPitt says:
      I agree…Katie has something on Tom and is calling all the shots! Too bad Nicole Kidman hadnt been as smart!
      • apsutter says:
        Different scenarios though…just goes to show what a difference a decade makes. Holmes had the benefit of the tide already having turned away from Tom and Scieno being somewhat exposed, Nicole didn’t have any of that.
      • AH says:
        I think Kidman had been so thoroughly convinced by Cruise and the Wackadoos that he’d “made” her, and there was a real fear there that he could unmake her just as easily.
        The cult had a much stronger pull when she and Cruise separated, and I can see her legitimately fearing for her own personal safety.
        Maybe Kidman thought if she played by the rules and stayed quiet, they wouldn’t take her kids away from her.
  49. potatopie says:
    From the photos that we see, and have seen, since Katie was able to escape from his clutches, both she and Suri seem a lot happier. Suri has a more kempt look – her hair isn’t hanging in her face and she is wearing age-appropriate clothes, granted some things are still quite “posh”. Anyway, Katie has lost that glassy-eyed look and that robot appearance. So, overall – I say good move. I still believe that Suri is either William Mapother’s (Tom’s cousin) off-spring or this Tommy Davis’s genetics were used. And, if that is the case, no wonder Katie looked so “off” while pregnant. It would drive me bonkers to be inseminated with someone else’s sperm and expected to pass the child off as my husband’s! Totally nuts. So – that being said, I’m all for him leaving them alone. They’re doing MUCH better without him.
  50. seesittellsit says:
    After seeing “Going Clear” there isn’t anything I would put past Cruise or the CoS, but Holmes is totally culpable here – she knew what she was getting into when she married him for money and ambition, then had a child with him, and then took off to keep the child out of the hands of CoS. She’s right to keep the child away from all that, but she shouldn’t have had a child that she probably knew she’d have to separate from Tom’s life eventually. I find them both despicable for different reasons. After seeing that documentary, I decided never to pay to see a film of Cruise’s again.
  51. waywardbee says:
    i think she is seeing plenty of her ‘real father’. tom, it’s not.
  52. Jag says:
    Honestly, it’s a good thing that he isn’t around because it would possibly confuse Suri or worse, hurt her. It’s good she isn’t around that crazy.
    Many women are single moms and they raise stable, confident children. All Suri will have to do when she gets older is do an internet search and she’ll see why her mother protected her from the cult.
  53. DEB says:
    LOL you can tell he’s had Botox injections around his mouth, the vain thing. Scientology will deny anything and everything that makes them look bad. They are accomplished liars, and bad liars at that. Tom won’t even refer to Katie by name anymore, and I think he was pissed that trying to change her name to “Kate” didn’t stick. He will refer to her now only as “Suri’s mom.” Lame-sauce 🙁
  54. Blackbetty says:
    Then he shouldn’t have had children at all, if they’re not important enough to him. He should just marry the head of Scientology already.
    • Lucky Charm says:
      Except that if Shelly is alive then David is still legally married. They can only get married when David divorces Shelly; or he admits that she is already dead or has her declared legally dead.
  55. Jana says:
    I think Katie Holmes left him because of this cult and told him she was going to spill all the nasty beans if he tried to get custody of Suri…Tom Cruise’s biggest problem is himself. I sincerely hope his devotion to this cult costs him his career, it’s obviously the thing he cares most about.
    • oopsie says:
      I soooo agree, Tom only cares about his career and the pr connected to it. I have not Watched a tom cruise movie since he left Nicole, I will not watch even on “free tv”
  56. Meg says:
    This is his religion, they encourage members to not be around family after a divorce because isolating someone makes it easier to control them. since Siri and Katie aren’t scientologists Tom only sees his other kids who he got custody of and kept them involved in Scientology. in the long run it will be better for suri to not be in a cult but she will feel abandoned by her dad, another girl with daddy issues. What a great religion right? Katie seems grounded, hopefully she reminds suri it’s toms loss
  57. Moi says:
    So I watched Going Clear. I am terrible, I know, but I could not stop laughing when I got to the point of the OT III reveal of the documentary.
    Lets be completely forthcoming here for a minute. What does it say about humanity as a whole, when there are so many people in the world that we live in that believe the b_ullsh*t that L.Ron Hubbard pulled out of his brain (a_ss) and accept it as solid truth?
    There are only two scenarios at play here in my opinion. One(1), LRH played the ultimate trick on all humanity. In that, how stupid one can be to believe whatever they are told as an easy route to escape emotional trauma. Or two(2), he was completely, undeniably, bat s_h*t crazy and actually believed what he was presenting to people as the divine truth.
    1 or 2 options…pick one.
    • Bob Loblaw says:
      I think it’s obvious people want to be a part of something important and LRH played on that need. These people were/are being grifted by an effective con. It’s easy to feel smug when we have it all spelled out for us but it’s easy to be conned, it happens all the time, to smart people who should know better.
    • Neonscream says:
      Scientology practice is certainly worse than most mainstream religion but their mythology is no more objectively crazy than that of Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism or any other ‘respectable’ religion.
    • AH says:
      Hubbard was nothing more than a really paranoid P.T. Barnum, with a persecution complex rivaled only by his spoiled brat temper.
      He latched onto desperate, needy, stupid people and bled them dry – shame on him. They undertook their own campaign of denial to make it all “mean something” after the fact – shame on them.
  58. memei'mfirst says:
    Poor little tyke. I hope this isn’t true. I also hope Katie didn’t feed this to the press. I think that if you don’t see your kid for a year, the people around your kid are bound to notice. Sources “close to” Katie Holmes could be the parents of children at Suri’s school. It doesn’t have to be Katie’s camp.
  59. @PRIYA..just curios..did Tom tell you that he doesn’t have sperm, or did his doctor tell ya? I have seen a lot of recent pictures of Suri, and she looks like Tom, including her teeth.
  60. Kaianne says:
    Tom really acting like a spoiled brat. ” You divorced and humiliated me, I’m going to punished you in passive aggressive style. Silence and cold shoulders” I remember when my ex and I split up. He was incommunicado for 18 months refused to see our daughter his way of punishing me. Our daughter was so ill and needed an urgent surgery I tried calling him and let him know but his phone always turned off. our mutual friend happened to run to him at post office and was told our daughter had operation 2 days before. He turned up at hospital made all scathing remarks that I deliberately trying to cut him off from our daughter life. I told him that is your story, keep believing it and let me know when you grow up. It was a slow process but he’s coming around.
    Hopefully Tom take that huge boulder off his shoulder ” Like he is a failure as a husband” Those happened because he put Scientology first before his wife and children.
    • Lucky Charm says:
      When my son was in the hospital, I kept trying to call ex to let him know. His phone either went straight to voice mail, or his girlfriend would answer, tell me to quit bothering them and go to he!! and hang up on me. Since I was stressed that my son could possibly die, I had more important things to worry about than playing games trying to reach my ex. When he did finally call me back, he was upset with me for not letting him know that his son had been in the hospital for almost a week and could have died! I reminded him that I only call when it has something to do with the kids that he absolutely needs to know about, so next time just answer the phone or listen to my message before deleting it, and return my call. Of course, when the medical bills started coming in he went “missing” again.
  61. Jen says:
    While I think it’s best if he’s kept at a distance, this whole thing makes me incredibly sad. Because she’s a little girl who just wants her daddy sometimes, and he clearly doesn’t see that as a priority. Turdface.
  62. jwoolman says:
    If Tom really isn’t in contact (no way to know today, video calls are real and easy), I doubt Suri is harmed by it. Her mom probably just does what my mom did, putting the most positive spin possible on it that doesn’t make the kid feel abandoned at all. My mother never said a bad word about my father even though he put her in a financial tailspin and through his peculiar shenanigans forced her to get a legal divorce in the US to establish child support that never arrived (she was a devout Catholic and at the time, that was a problem for the gossipmongers although not for her Church under the circumstances, her best counselor was a priest who was an expert in Canon Law, church laws concerning marriage). She painted the kindliest picture imaginable, perhaps going a tad overboard but it was a good thing to do. Really, it can be done. And it’s worth it no matter how difficult your ex is, because your kids get to be the ones to decide how they feel. People who vent about their exes in front of their kids or in public are doing great harm to their children, no matter how justified it seems.
    • Neonscream says:
      Depends on the situation. A friend of mine grew up idolising her father. When she found out, in her twenties, that he had beaten and raped her mother before they separated, she felt betrayed. Maybe you don’t need to bad mouth the other parent but presenting an entirely false sunshine picture might not be best in the long run either.
  63. geneva says:
    read Fair, Clear & Terrible…about a religious cult in Maine in the late 1800s. The book won a Pulitzer Prize and really describes what happens in a cult – or happened – to the members who were led by a man who believed he was the son of God. The children suffered the most in this cult – as they often do. Sad that TC has alienated himself from his daughter – one has to wonder what would happen if he did have her with him. She would be indoctrinated. It is possible …maybe…that KHolmes manages to thwart his efforts to see his daughter for fear she will become enamored with Co$. It may have started that way…and now time has gone on and he is more and more estranged from his child – as he also grows stranger and stranger (no doubt spreading the word wherever he goes abroad). read the book Fair, Clear & Terrible. it is as true now as it was 100 years ago…cults are dangerous.
  64. AH says:
    The prevailing assumption seems to be that any estrangement is Cruise’s choice. Maybe it’s not.
    The cult that runs Cruise’s life (I won’t dignify it by name) has been seriously on the ropes this past year, his career is a shadow of what it once was, and his older children appear to be reestablishing contact with Kidman.
    Katie Holmes detached herself and her daughter from Cruise and the Wackadoos like a BOSS. I get the impression if she doesn’t want him to see Suri, he doesn’t see Suri.
  65. AH says:
    And I know someone has likely commented already … but WTF is up with Cruise carrying that child everywhere?!
    Do her legs not work? Does he have to glom onto as much surface area of another person as possible to suck the very life out of them more efficiently?
    It’s seriously weird.
  66. bokchoi says:
    Scientology is off-the-charts crazy, NO QUESTION, but lets consider the source here – TMZ? really? Isnt it also entirely possible hat he doesnt feel the need to “prove it” with a photo op whenever he sees his daughter? Its not like Katie Holmes lets her be photographed that much anymore either, and his kids with Nicole Kidman were rarely seen when they were little.
    • bokchoi says:
      i think TMZ is trolling him to see if he will reply, and capitalizing on the publicity surrounding the HBO documentary
  67. TOPgirl says:
    I think Tom and Katie are freakin weird people. Who knows what’s really happening between the two. I think it’s both of their faults. I feel sorry for their kid.
  68. Question everything says:
    TMZ is not a reliable source and who knows what is happening between Cruise/Holmes/Suri?
    Perhaps Scientology made him behave like that and dump his own daughter in order to minimise the risk of him quitting the “religion”?
