Brad Pitt guest-hosts another ‘Saturday Night Live: At Home’ episode

Saturday Night Live: At Home aired a new episode last night and from the clips I saw, it wasn’t bad at all. I actually think this might have been a stronger episode than their first “at home” attempt. SNL began with a cold open from guest host Brad Pitt, who played Dr. Fauci. The real Fauci actually said that if they make a movie about him, he’d like to be played by Brad Pitt, so this was probably a nice moment for him. Not so nice? The real and fake Faucis have to come out and say “don’t drink bleach.” Interesting fact: since Trump suggested that people could drink Lysol, there’s been a rise in poisoning cases across the country. For real.

Here’s musical guest Miley Cyrus doing a cover of Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here.” I love the song so much and… I won’t say it’s painful to hear Miley’s cover. It’s not painful. But that doesn’t mean that I actually *like* it.

Cecily Strong doing Michigan’s Governor Whitmer. Cecily is so good at doing those regional American accents.

Hook-up culture is over during the pandemic.

Fun-fact: Paul Rudd is 77 years old.

Kate McKinnon doing a “Whiskers R Us” bit with her real cat Nino Positano. Nino is such a chill cat, right?

I LOVED IT, even tough Miley WAS painful, and I didn’t get some of the jokes, but Whiskers R’We was amazing, Soulcycle was amazing and the Advert for #nospoilers which is always there for us made me laugh even though thinking now it is really an obvious one 😉

  2. tempest prognosticator says:

I enjoyed this one more than the first. Brad was good and I was tickled that Dr. Fauci got his wish. I couldn’t concentrate on Miley’s singing because for awhile there it looked like she had started a forest fire… that was a lot of smoke.

    • Christin says:

The heavy smoke moments and her repeatedly pulling on whatever she was wearing were distracting. One shoulder was exposed, yet she kept adjusting as if it the garment would suddenly return to normal position (and be uncool, I guess).

      • Lilly (with the double-L) says:

I was across the room and it took me awhile to find my remote to switch during this Miley segment (switched on Brad too), but that gotta keep this off my shoulder bit and pose was so poseur. I wish her well and clearly she’s got a big fan base, her voice just grates on me. Loved What’s up with That – one of my favs.

    • Jules says:

Yes I enjoyed the Fauci sketch! Skipped Miley. The hook-up sketch was great, and there’s a soul cycle sketch on youtube that’s the best.

  3. Lightpurple says:

Nino Positano is the new breakout star of SNL in only his second appearance. More Nino Positano!

  4. Quincytoo says:

    I loved it all
Miley was meh. All the smoke thought her bong was on fire

  5. Other Renee says:

I loved Brad’s opening and I really loved his tribute to Dr. Fauci et al.
51 year old Paul Rudd is adorable.

    • DarlingDiana says:

Brad was really good and I hope Fauci really enjoyed it. Plus the plaudits that he gave him, and everyone else, at the end were great.
Paul Rudd’s material was not great but he is.
I always like Aidy and Kate.

  6. Flip says:

Thought he was cancelled? I mustn’t have read the memo. My bad.

  7. BountyHunter says:

    I actually enjoyed “Weekend Update.”

    • Snazzy says:

I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I usually do. I find Che’s jokes stupid at times, but overall I usually find the segment funny

  8. Ripley says:

I love Cecily and I love ‘That Woman from Michigan’ but that was much more of a Minnesotan accent than Michigan. They’re different, trust me. Plus I really enjoyed the ‘cold opening’…

    • Amy Too says:

Whitmer is my governor and she actually does have a weird Minnesota type accent. I’m baffled by it often because she just doesn’t sound like any Michigan woman I know.

But yeah, she actually sounds like that.

      • Onerous says:

Right!? I’m in West Michigan – where Gretchen is from – and I don’t know many with THAT thick of an accent. I always thought she must be from the UP! Her accent is oddly very strong.

      • Ripley says:

I’m from Michigan too and was born in MN with a ton of family still there… I don’t think Whitmer sounds that Minnesotan, but agree she has an accent. Agree, that it’s more Hooper than Lowe MI. I like her though, but want Harris for VP.

    • Mel M says:

I grew up in west Michigan and I only know of one person with a similar UP like accent like that. She is my sisters mother in law and she’s part of the big Dutch community on the west side. My husband and in-laws are also Dutch but don’t sound like that. I miss Michigan but could never go back because of how maga my in-laws and west Michigan has become in general.

    • Kelly says:

The accent was good. The one bit that didn’t ring true was the beer. Michigan is known for its craft beer industry. It would have been better for Cecily Strong to be drinking something from Founder’s or Bell’s, both of which are distributed nationally.

      • Ripley says:

Totally agree! Was thinking Founders, Short’s, or Oberon. She wouldn’t drink a Canadian beer… so strange what I’m fixated on, but it’s because I have NOTHING else to do. Overall a funny skit

    • BountyHunter says:

I also live in MI. The Upper Peninsula in fact. I think she just has a strange voice. I back her policies 109% though.

  9. Joanna says:

I think Miley has a great voice. All the skits are funny. Kate has a pretty kitty cat, it was so cute to see Nino chilling and purring.

  10. anniefannie says:

I think Miley much like Bette Midler knows how to pick songs that make her shine, I loved it!

    • Melissa says:

Her voice is very distinctive, I agree that song choice is key, she has a four day bourbon and cigarette binge sound.
I know she isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I like her (despite the thirsty antics).

  11. FHMom says:

Love Dr. Fauci and loved the opening.

  12. Nadia says:

    I love it

  13. Aang says:

I’m normally a fan of Miley but I don’t like this cover of one of my favorite songs. I like her whiskey and cigarette voice but she didn’t make me feel anything with this song.

  14. Sumodo1 says:

That is one sweet cat! Kate’s obviously in love with Nino and he’s totally in love with her!

  15. mara says:

Not a fan of Brad, but I was happy that Dr. Fauci got his wish!

  16. JillyBean says:

They did a great job and they also captured what is going on with all hands right now. Hopefully we can look back at these episodes and fondly reflect in years to come.

  17. minx says:

    I love these remote shows!

  18. Louise says:

Ugh, Miley, don’t ever do Pink Floyd again. My frickin’ ears can’t take it.

  19. adastraperaspera says:

I love the Gov. Whitmer sketch! “It’s a mitten, and this is where I live!” Ha!

  20. nicegirl says:

The Fauci bit makes Pitt seem likeable. It’s great.

  21. Kitefly says:

Self promotion of Brad Pitt continues. I want to know who did his hair and makeup during lockdown? He had the wardrobe, the whole script and production going on.

    • Sasha says:

Speaking of makeup, Brad was on one of Property Bros. shows – just saw it yesterday (I think it was yesterday, lol!).
He had the brothers remake an old out building in his makeup artist’s yard.
It was really endearing and the space turned out fabulous. I think it was only around 400sf. It’s on HGTV.

  22. Truthiness says:

The cold open was a big fat love letter to Dr Fauci and I am here for it, especially after the dumpster fire of a week we just had. Nino Positano is amazing, holy cow how chill was that cat? Another thing: we should be NOT be sleeping on how good Chloe Fineman is. I don’t know exactly when she joined the show but she is such a talented mimic. On a previous show around Oscar time she impersonated Renee Z/Judy Garland, Saoirse Ronan, Meryl Streep, Timothee Chalamet, Scarjo (in front of Colin Jost just so she could zing him) AND Laura Dern all in one bit.

  23. Lama Bean says:

I liked Pete Davidson and Adam Sandler singing/rapping about being bored in self-isolation.

  24. Sasha says:

Thank you Celebitchy for compiling the clips, really enjoyed them!

  25. Kate says:

Hated to love the Brad Pitt Fauci, but the gesture was just too good. Not a Miley fan either, but thought her cover was unique and really enjoyed it especially with times being as they are. It’s a great song period, and I thought as obnoxious as Miley has been growing up in front of us all… her voice being folksy with a weird Stevie Knicks vibe was a really enjoyable take on it, and kind of laid a foundational reminder of her talent. I hope she can grow to understand and get a better grasp on “who she is” and become a little more grounded. I would love for her to stay in that folksy realm with her voice

  26. L4frimaire says:

Gotta say it Brad Pitt still very much has it. Liked his opening as Fauci, ans still gorgeous.

    • Truth hurts says:

Has what. He gave a two minute portrayal of Fauci who well deserved it. Although he sounded stupid af.

  27. BeanieBean says:

Thanks for the clips, Kaiser! I laughed myself silly over the hookup, & loved ‘that woman’ from Michigan & Pitt’s Fauci. And Kate has too much fun with her cat! That was great.

  28. ennie says:

Good message at the end from Brad, I thought that the had let go of the clairol bottle, but also at the end , I saw that is on point, hehehe

  29. Andrea says:

While Brad Pitt is proud of his ego and parodies in a pandemic where many people die, Angelina is trying to be a better person with her strengths and weaknesses.

    • Genessee says:

Seriously? Angie being mentioned in this thread? Why? They are divorced. Finito. Let it go

I am just grateful that Brad made Dr. Fauci’s dream come true. Its a small gesture, but one that I’m sure amused him quite a bit and since he has to deal with 45 on the daily, he deserves this tribute. 🙂

      • Truth hurts says:

You know why people mentioned Angie is because he does underhandedly. People bring him up in the media every time she opens her mouth. Thanks to Dr Fauci the real hero but Pitt is unworthy. To add to the fact that if the man never mentioned his name he wouldn’t be interested. Well he didn’t the commentator asked him to chose between him or Stiller. Number two the way he continues to run his mouth about politics; someone should school him on how to do what is right or those folks in NO. To his family that he wrecked. He I s in no position to chastise anyone including the Orange azz Trump.

  30. Nightsky says:

Miley, keep your grubby, unworthy paws off Pink Floyd!! Just because you sing a song by one of the greatest bands on the planet does not make you cool or any less irrelevant. You’re the same ridiculous, thirsty, obnoxious mess you’ve always been. So just do what you do best and stick to the disgusting tongue antics.

And Trump, I think your idea about people drinking Lysol is brilliant! Starting with YOU.

  31. Summer says:

That was pretty funny. BP looks like Bill Clinton to me. 🙂

  32. Jess says:

I thought the entire episode was strong. Kenan Thompson was hysterical and the Stuck at Home song was really good – both funny and also capturing the painful boredom of being stuck at home. They clearly had figured out how to do all of this because the first attempt was painful but this was probably one of my favorite episodes of the past couple of years.

  33. Anonymous says:

I’m glad Dr.Fauci got a chance to be famous.

  34. Mee says:

How are you gonna post clips and completely leave out ‘what’s up with that?” And the “Big popi” ones??? They were hilarious

  35. Grant says:

Cecily Strong cracks me up in everything she does. Her Jeannine Pirro … *chef’s kiss*. Cecily, Kate, and Aidy are my SNL MVPs.

  36. jferber says:

I really liked Brad’s shout-out to health care workers and others during this “unnerving time.” Damn, he’s more presidential than the unfortunate one we’ve got (who isn’t?) I love that Dr. Fauci got his wish by having Brad play him. Great. Also, though Brad didn’t say it: Don’t drink or inject bleach or Lysol into your human body, despite what the president said. My frigging G-d.
