Cassie confirmed that she received a $20 million settlement from Sean Combs

In November 2023, Cassie sued Sean Combs in federal court. Her 35-page lawsuit was a buffet of Combs’ depravity, violence and coercive control. Cassie laid it all out in the lawsuit, the human trafficking, the “freak offs,” the violence, the drugs and the industry around Combs which enabled him. Combs initially made some “I’m going to fight this” noise in reaction to her lawsuit, but he settled within 24 hours. That didn’t stop federal authorities from opening up multiple investigations in Combs, which is where we are now: Combs is facing federal criminal charges and his trial began this week. Cassie is the star witness for the prosecution, and she’s testified in the past two days. On Wednesday, she revealed the sum of her settlement:

Cassie Ventura revealed she settled with ex Sean “Diddy” Combs for $20 million after filing a bombshell lawsuit against him in 2023.

“Who paid you $20 million?” prosecutor Emily Johnson asked Ventura in court Wednesday, per The Post, as the singer took the stand as a witness for her second day of testimony in Combs’ sex-trafficking trial.

“Sean and his companies,” Ventura responded.

If you ask me, $20 million is not enough. I’m actually surprised that she settled for so “little,” given everything he did to her for years and years. I understand why she settled though – that money was to not only give her a sense of security, but the whole point was to get her story out there. She was baiting the authorities to investigate Combs. Speaking of, during the trial, the prosecution revealed the full video of Combs assaulting her at a hotel in 2016. Previously, CNN aired an edited version. Trigger warning.

Definitely not enough. Class action next and a loooooong jail sentence for him hopefully.

  2. lucy2 says:

Never enough, but I understand why she accepted it, that is run away and live your life well money. She is an incredibly brave person and I hope has good support around her during all this, and that she and his other victims see justice.

Her testimony broke my heart. She was 19 years old when she fell under the control of this predator. So very young and inexperienced. The extraordinary power imbalance, of which the age difference is just one part, of their relationship is overwhelming. In every single facet, he had so much more power than her and it was all linked to her- it wasn’t just that he was a music label mogul, she was signed to his label. It’s impossible to assess any of her actions as being voluntary or of her own choice given the all-encompassing coercive environment she was in.

    • Kitten says:

Yes it’s a classic imbalance of power scenario. By the time she realized she had been pulled into his control it was already too late. It’s absolutely shameful that he spent years dangling the promise of a music career over her head as a means to manipulate and exploit her.

  4. Meredith says:

That cuts off the “she’s lying for money” argument since she already put the money in the bank years ago.

  5. ThatGirlThere says:

She deserves every cent and MORE. He preyed on her from the beginning, isolated and terrorized her throughout her time with him. We all saw that video of one of the times she tried to run. He’s a violent deviant who should never know peace.

  6. Kitten says:

Definitely not enough and I say that as someone who’s been following the trial closely. Sean Combs is a truly despicable man.

On a very superficial and perhaps inappropriate note: Cassie’s husband is so hot and the two of them make a stunning couple. Hope he treats her like a queen.

    • Truthiness says:

+1, he’s a monster and she’s been incredibly brave. I hope he gets life without parole because he absolutely will be obsessed with getting revenge.

My heart goes out to the kids, the victims and I’d have a lot of questions for Kim Porter if she had survived.

      • Bec says:

I wonder what Kim Porter went through all of those years with him. I’d say probably the same type of violent control. I also question whether her death was natural.

What have those children witnessed? It’s been reported his sons procured girls for him.

  7. Bumblebee says:

He controlled everything, even the expression on her face and how fast she had to run to him when he called her. And you know he’s done this to many others. Life in prison is not long enough.

  8. Borgqueen says:

That he felt comfortable to assault her in a public space wearing nothing but a towel shows he definitely hit Cassie before. Did the security guard help her leave the hotel?

  9. Shai says:

Definitely not enough but her lawsuit served its purpose & he’s now facing charges. We knew it was the beginning of the end when he started offering his former artists the option to get rights for their music, Aubrey said they had to sign a NDA in exchange for that. He knew his downfall was coming.

  10. Amy Bee says:

    She should have gotten more.

  11. Kiki says:

I hope he’s dog walked around the yard every day til he drops.

  12. Lau says:

The defense interrogation was horrible, I hope that the people who are part of his defense team will be very ashamed of themselves for putting her through all of this again.
