Marc Anthony’s name has been front-and-center in the gossip world lately, but he hasn’t said a word (before now). His name came up repeatedly because he attended and performed at Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz’s 2022 wedding, and Marc apparently did a lot to ruin what was supposed to be an important dance for Nicola and Brooklyn. Instead of calling the newlyweds up to dance while he serenaded them, Marc apparently introduced Victoria Beckham as the “most beautiful woman in the room” and encouraged Victoria and Brooklyn to dance together. Last month, Brooklyn described it this way: “She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I’ve never felt more uncomfortable & humiliated in my entire life.” DJ Fat Tony backed up Brooklyn’s version and Tony also said that Marc created the situation and that most wedding guests felt really uncomfortable about it.
Well, Marc is currently promoting his new Las Vegas residency, and he spoke to the Hollywood Reporter just after the Super Bowl. He spoke at length about Puerto Rican superstars like himself, Bad Bunny and Ricky Martin, and at the end of the interview, they asked him about the Beckhams. Some highlights:
His thoughts on Bad Bunny’s Halftime show: “I sure did watch the Super Bowl. It was a proud moment all the way around. Here’s a gentleman who is not only a great friend of mine, but I’ve known him since before he even started in music. Bad Bunny is proud of his culture, proud of everything that we as Puerto Ricans offer as a people. And he chose that platform to not serve himself but just serve the greater good and just instill a little pride in all Latinos at this moment, especially at this moment. Our culture was always worthy of celebration. I could not have been prouder of the fact that he took that opportunity to celebrate the little idiosyncrasies of what it’s like to be Latino. I was clapping at the TV.
Benito bringing Ricky Martin to the stage: “That’s what it’s all about. We’re extremely well aware of our predecessors. I give Celia Cruz and Tito Puente and Rubén Blades every shoutout I can, because they’re the ones who paved the way. I had the honor of sharing the stage with Bad Bunny in Puerto Rico singing “Preciosa.” We understand what we’re in the middle of and our responsibility when we take on sharing our art globally. Ricky deserves that acknowledgment. Lady Gaga deserves it. They deserve it because they’re putting in the work in the name of celebrating culture. It’s that simple.
His thoughts on Donald Trump’s hissy fit about Bad Bunny: “I did not see what Trump said about his performance and I don’t give a sh-t.
Being pulled into the Beckham family drama: “I have nothing to say about what’s happening with the family. They’re a wonderful, wonderful family. I’ve known them since before the kids were born. I’m godfather to Cruz. I’m really close to the family. But I have nothing to say about what happened there. It’s extremely unfortunate how it’s playing out — but [how it’s playing out] is hardly the truth.
While he didn’t say it, it does feel like Marc was possibly a little bit hurt because Bad Bunny apparently didn’t ask him to appear at the Halftime Show too? It’s clear that he’s super proud of Benito and he loved seeing Ricky Martin up there too, but yeah… if you’re making it about a celebration of Puerto Rican artists, maybe Marc should have been invited. I don’t know. It’s Benito’s call and I loved the tight show he put together. As for what Marc says about the Beckhams… we knew that he was and is close to David and Victoria Beckham, and he performed at Brooklyn’s wedding at D&V’s invitation. I’d love to know his version of events, but I definitely feel like Brooklyn’s version is probably pretty close to what happened.

Its all vague coming from him either share your version of events or don’t say anything.
A ‘apologies if a gesture for my friend was hurtful to the married couple would be ok too, as its possible that Marc didnt mean anything by it, but it was very much a problem he created.
Btw back to Benito Bowl apart from Pedro one of my facourite things is clips of people freaking out when they hear their countries and/or see their flag. Such important representation!
I agree about the Beckham story. Share your story or don’t say anything. Now we can only guess whose version he thinks is not the truth.
But when Nicola’s father gave an ambiguous answer, people on here praised him and said that’s how it should be handled 🤷♀️
I think Marc is just protecting himself and his friends, Victoria and David. Given he helped create the awkward situation, his interpretation of events is not what Brooklyn experienced.
I think his response re: the Beckhams is fine. Nothing he says is going to sway either side in this mess or change any minds.
I do appreciate his comments about Bad Bunny, the halftime show and Trump lol.
What DJ Fat Tony said was the dance that Marc called Victoria up to do with her son involved hands on hips in Latin-style moves. He said that was fine, it was Marc calling Vic the most beautiful girl in the room that caused all the upset.
Marc Anthony’s publicist could have answered all of the questions and probably did.
He’s giving the right answer where Trump is concerned – who gives AF about what these losers think? is the tact everybody should’ve taken with them since they beginning. We might not be here had everybody treated them like the pathetic clowns they were back in 2015.
As for the Beckhams…would he comment at length about about their family drama? There’s no benefit for him. He’s already famous, so he doesn’t need the headlines, and he’s got personal history with the whole family, so it doesn’t help to stir the point more than it already has. Everybody’s already formed their own narrative on it as is. There’s no changing it at this point, short of video being put out there.
