Lownie: The monarchy will be ‘restructured’ & the Sussexes’ titles will be taken away

Perhaps this is a controversial assessment of the current royal gossip industry in big 2026, but anyone still trying to tie Prince Andrew’s depravity in any way to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex is a delusional hack and/or Prince William. We saw, this week, Tom Sykes argue on his Royalist Substack that Prince William needs to be made “co-monarch” so that he can deal with Andrew… and Prince Harry. Now Andrew Lownie, author of last year’s book about the Yorks and their sleaze, tells NewsNation that he believes a royal housecleaning is in order, and that the Windsors are going to punish the Sussexes alongside former Prince Andrew this year.

A seismic restructuring of the British monarchy may be closer than anyone realizes — and Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and even their children could be among the biggest casualties. According to royal biographer Andrew Lownie, King Charles is preparing to accelerate sweeping reforms that would modernize the institution, increase financial transparency, and — most significantly — strip titles from any member of the family who is no longer an active working royal.

“I think we are going to see some reforms being announced,” Lownie told me. “More transparency about records and finances, and I think we may well see some moves to remove titles from anyone who isn’t in an active working role. So, I think they’re going to deal with the Andrew and Harry problem at the same time.”

The timing is no accident. The ongoing legal pressure surrounding Prince Andrew appears to have forced the palace’s hand, pushing Charles to act on reforms he may have hoped to delay until William’s reign.

“The public do want to see more obvious change,” Lownie said. “I think this has hastened reforms that are so necessary that perhaps Charles was hoping William would start. But I think those will now be accelerated.”

The result: Harry and Andrew — two very different problems for the crown — may end up facing the same solution. A clean, institutional severance that allows the monarchy to draw a clear line between its working members and everyone else.

For the Sussexes, the implications are profound. Lownie believes there is a strong likelihood that not only Harry and Meghan, but also their children Archie and Lilibet, could lose their royal titles entirely under the proposed reforms.

At the start of this year, sources close to Harry suggested he had received assurances that taxpayer-funded royal security would be reinstated. Lownie is skeptical that the promise will hold, especially now.

“It’s very hard to justify royal security paid for by the taxpayer when you’re no longer a working royal,” he said, “and when many of the working royals don’t have proper security, and when you have plenty of money that you could fund your own security, and where you’re traveling to countries far more dangerous than Britain without getting security paid for by the British. I think he’s on a sticky wicket.”

[From NewsNation]

My thoughts are the same – it would be extremely crass, tone-deaf and childish for the monarchy to “use” Andrew’s very real depravity and very real crimes as an excuse to throw Harry and Meghan under the royal bus one more time. It shows a deep vein of unseriousness at the heart of a rotten institution. People will see through it as well – during all of the memeing and commentary yesterday for Prince Andrew’s arrest, people were clearly pointing out the monarchy and British press’s next move: blaming Andrew on Harry and Meghan. Why didn’t Meghan do anything about Andrew? Why didn’t Harry warn anyone? Etc. But you know what? If Charles and William really feel that strongly about it, do it. Do it and watch the fallout.

  1. So they want to take Harry’s titles away because he fell in love and married a biracial woman and didn’t want to be a scapegoat for Peg and they think that Harry and the Pedo are birds of a feather? My god the stupidity runs deep. This distraction campaign is not doing the job they think it is!! It just makes them look out of touch and in need of therapy. Do the taxpayers a favor and let the monarch burn to the ground!!

    • Beth says:

Lownie ignores the fact that Andrew actually was a working royal when the alleged crimes took place. And protective security isn’t just a perk for working royals – the V in RAVEC stands for VIP (eg some current and former politicians, Salman Rushdie, etc). Provision depends on outcome of an RMB assessment re: threat level, which Harry’s now getting having been denied one since 2019. Clearly, Lownie isn’t as clever as he thinks he is.

And the issue isn’t funding – Harry offered to pay – it’s that here in the UK only RPOs can bear arms and access intel, not Harry’s own security team.

      • Calliope says:

William and these people are batshit insane. “How can I use this horrible situation to shine more of a spotlight on how rules for us are different and subject to royal whim? How can I make sure Harry and Meghan are never here again to make me feel inadequate?”

Absolutely insane. The rules for security need to be standard for everyone – based on risk, nothing else.

Plus, they have to know that William isn’t going to step up or magically become charismatic and clever? He can’t seem to plan his way out of a paper bag.

        They’re absolutely deranged.

      • Shelly H says:

The issue is funding. Their is no mechanism for rich people to pay for their own security and intel and that is for important reasons. Working royals, such as Anne, don’t have security. How is sucurity suppossed to be arranged on no notice? Staff aren’t twiddling their thumbs all day.

      • Gabby says:

Peg thinks keeping the Sussexes out of the UK will prevent their making him look inadequate? Guess again. They can and do make Peg look inadequate from anywhere in the world, or without leaving their house.

      • Sheila Hibbert says:

Some people can only see as far as their snotty noses. Harry has done nothing but tell the truth. He has offered to pay for his security as his own are not allowed to carry firearms here. He pays for his own when he visits other countries. Why can’t people get that into their thick sculls. I’m nearly 79 and I get it.

      • Faye says:

Lownie is a vindictive and miserable person. He is still angry that Harry’s lawyers made him remove his lies about him in his book. He is one of those that mentions Harry in his work to give relevance to it.

    • Cari says:

That’s a lie. Anne has security. The Queen and Charles “paid” for Andrew’s security so how is their no mechanism. Not true.

    • Beff says:

Take them. Why would they want titles and be associated with *those people*?

  2. Lady Esther says:

Deflect, deflect, deflect. Right on cue

    • Hypocrisy says:

Exactly and Willy always uses the Sussex’s for deflection, Willy is probably foaming at the mouth in rage at being outed for his financial ties to Epstein clients. So of course Harry needs to be punished. It’s sickening.

    • Swaz says:

And it is working, 79 comments and counting 🥸

  3. Neeve says:

Very stupid to remove titles doesnt that defeat being Royalty or married to Royalty whether an active worker or not? The institution is based on hierarchy!

  4. Kittenmom says:

“Increase financial transparency” – that’s how you know this is fake news! Willy will never reveal where his shady bags o’cash come from or how little he pays in “voluntary” taxes (probably nothing)

  5. Brit says:

Royalists and these grifting royal “experts” are contributing to the long term downfall of the monarchy. Do they not realize that tying people into this scandal, who live in another country is not working. At this point Meghan and Harry look better because they removed themselves from that clown show.

  6. Lady Digby says:

It is of more importance to subject both King and heir to same rules, regulation and financial scrutiny as Government Ministers including a register of interests. FK can’t be allowed cart blanche and only working occasionally and accepting holidays and freebies from dodgy billionaires.

    • Smart&Messy says:

Right?? I don’t understand how it’s not the same rules for the monarch and any other royals taking or using publicly owned assets as it is for elected officials in similarly high positions. How could Starmer even say that he wants to let the RF deal with their issues re: Andrew and crown estate management etc.

  7. Tessa says:

What if Charlotte and Louis do not do royal work. Should not their titles be taken

  8. Erin says:

Taking away any titles from Harry and Meghan will not change who they ARE as people and the work that they do in an meaningful way. It will only look bad on William and Charles. And as for this vague idea of “increased financial transparency”……. please. I have a bridge to sell you.

  9. Joanne says:

Chuck can’t remove their titles as it requires an act of parliament. Parliament won’t like the idea that hereditary titles being removed at the whim of the king as it makes titles no longer hereditary.

    • Calliope says:

Right? You can just see it. “Oh sure, William, you seem stable and not at all fixated and vindictive. I’m sure this will stop with the brother and sister-in-law you hate. Or maybe your cousins. Maybe the next MP who says something nice about the Invictus Games.”

These people are absurd. The public wants accountability and William’s right there at the front, “let’s punish Harry & Meghan!” It’s his answer to everything.

    • seraphina says:

Right and what happens to the aristocracy and their hereditary titles???? Reminds me of Ann Boleyn – removing a queen paved the way to have herself removed.
Careful Willy, you may get what you wish for.

  10. Mumster says:

I’m for it. Get rid of it all and open up the palaces to the people and give the people back the money they pay to support the royals. There is no reason people should be that pampered–on tax payer dime–for being born into the “right” family.

  11. NoBS Please says:

Ah, the “titles” red herring. Conveniently deflects from the taxpayer funded grace-and-favour residences various royals and royal hangers-on are living in, paying peppercorn rent.

How much rent is Prince Edward paying again? And Beatrice? And Eugenie?

And how much tax is William paying again? How much inheritance tax will he pay when he becomes King? And when will QEII’s will and the other royal wills be unsealed?

And if we’re focusing on titles, when will Beatrice and Eugenie’s titles be removed?

Nice try, Andrew Lownie. You should be happy your Andrew and Fergie book’s getting some press, and not be so desperate to generate more clicks from obsessive M&H title-strippers…

  12. Mads says:

The Sussex dukedom is legally Harry’s property and can only be removed by parliament in exceptional circumstances. Andrew is still legally Duke of York and Charles issuing a Royal Warrant is more of a “gentleman’s” agreement not to use it.

To remove Harry, Archie and Lilibet’s title of Prince and Princess is going to take some very inventive wording. If it’s solely to do with not being working royals, then where does that leave William’s kids, or Princess Anne when she retires?

    • Hypocrisy says:

Exactly! Willys screaming to the rota isn’t going to remove his titles and that’s what’s happening Willy is having a rage tantrum imo.

    • one of the marys says:

I don’t think Harry will cooperate with any gentleman’s agreement he’s going to make William walk the walk

  13. Lover says:

No titles for kids, because they’re not working.

No titles while you’re on vacation or at the school run.

  14. Thinking says:

I have my doubts their titles will be taken away.

They may set certain rules about how you can use your titles, since iboth Andrew and Fergie were doing weird things with them ( which seems to include releasing secret information? I’m not sure if I’ve understood the news correctly on that part).

  15. Tessa says:

Charles and scooter then would be running a deranger campaign to remove Sussex titles including Charles young grandchildren. Then they would decide not to remove other titles.

  16. Chrissie T says:

I really want them to do this. Such a dumb move. It would end them all. Removing titles from your biracial family members will go down well with the Commonwealth countries. Also I really want Harry to change his name to Harry Spencer Sussex

    • Gail says:

Last night I had a dream. I dreamt that C died, W was sidelined as incompetent/incapable, and George, with Harry in regency, took the crown. Harry bangs the whole thing wide open. He immediately cancels the rota agreement; they release info and pics like Meg is doing now w/her own family. He immediately cancels the Dartmoor prison agreement and decides to have the building pulled down. No further charges to the public, no further poisoning of the public. Then he hires workers he (Harry) trusts and fixes people’s homes. No charge to the public. Harry builds and sets specific boundaries between the monarch’s private funds and the public funds meant to fund specific ‘Royal’ duties. Meghan and the children are welcomed back. Because W is incompetent/incapable and K is too weak to stand on her own two feet, Meghan and Harry become beloved guardians of George, Charlotte and Louis. The children, all of them, are fiercely guarded by Meghan and Harry and allowed to grow and evolve at their own pace and within their own interests. The Crown modernizes as everything, except personal privacy, is blown wide open. No longer must the navy pay the monarch for moorage. No longer must the public health system pay for whatever they are being charged for now. The public money is re-directed to benefit the public, not private persons. The monarch is no longer in charge of all the palaces, etc. Only their privately owned properties. All other properties are returned to the National Trust, with funding in place for them to become self-sustaining over a period of 5 years. This is what the sovereign grant is used for. They all learn to put their own toothpaste on their toothbrushes and they all grow, after therapy, into healthier, happier, more honest people. Thus the monarchy is saved, no one else (like the lords or whomever) loses whatever they are afraid of losing (except rota, they lose everything) and everyone lives w/in their means, and mostly happily ever after. There will be hiccups, of course, but if Britain is to survive the monarch needs to give up on the idea of “working royals”. The family is royal and has perks, but are no longer puppets for display purposes. Harry continues being Harry, Meghan continues being Meghan and the ‘royal brand’ becomes whole through a wide-angle lens. It was a great dream. I woke up smiling.

      • Mayp says:

👏👏👏👏 hey, who knows? Maybe this could happen! I mentioned a while back in a post here that before George was born an astrologer said that the baby, George, would be a boy and that Prince Harry would be regent for him and that ultimately Harry, when very old, would become King.

      • Harla says:

Wow, what an incredibly detailed dream!! I hope that it comes true!

      • Hypocrisy says:

If only your dream was reality.

  17. HeatherC says:

I don’t think it matters, really. Of course the conversation of what makes a royal “Royal” will happen, like is it special blood or the whim of a king?

But remember, Princess Diana was never really “Princess Diana.” Near 30 years after her death and she is still referred to, even in the British press at times, as Princess Diana. Harry will ALWAYS be Prince Harry.

I do look forward to the future when William has to decide if his spare and spare’s spare are special enough to be royal even if they don’t “work” lol and instead get real life jobs and lives.

    • Thinking says:

I think it’s the HRH that counts more than the Prince title.

I keep seeing Andrew referred to as ex-Prince Andrew so I’m not sure if the stripping of the HRH connects with his particular Prince title? Or is he still an HRH?

I guess I now know what his last name is, although I prefer to know as little about him. Ick.

  18. Brassy Rebel says:

While Andrew Lownie has done some good reporting in his career, he is a monarchist. Full Stop. He knows this Andrew story and how the royals have bungled it is a very real threat to the monarchy itself. So now we get all this talk about reforms and transparency always being planned. Bull shit. They’re in full damage control mode in the palaces, and Lownie, as a good monarchist, is running to the rescue. Don’t fall for the okey doke. This is about saving the monarchy. They’re pretty desperate to be suggesting they’re finally going to do what they could have done years ago but didn’t because it would have derailed the gravy train.

    • Brassy Rebel says:

As if William ever planned to do any work. Reforming the monarchy would be a lot of work. Smdh.

      • Lady Digby says:

Will is reforming the monarchy in the sense of cutting off relatives on his grudge list and keeping all the goodies for himself and his direct line without doing any real work. Chris Ship talked today about a life of luxury in return for a life of service, not enriching yourself like Andrew has done. Will is lazy and has never done his fair share of work as a senior royal and isn’t starting now. He’s not depraved like Andrew but he is isn’t value for money either.

    • Nic919 says:

This is the sad part and shows the cult mentality of monarchists. His work about Andrew has helped push the investigation further but as soon as he talks about Harry, it is just crazy town.

Harry is the best of that family and he is a threat to it only because he shows what can be done for good and without taxpayer funding.

Also Harry is just looking to have armed bodyguards when he visits the UK and which is permitted everywhere else. They need to stop pretending that he’s looking for taxpayer freebies.

    • Ljndawson says:

He is also Lady Colin Campbell’s literary agent.

  19. Mrs. Smith says:

Honestly, I wish H&M would forfeit the titles and be done with the whole mess. I know the titles are theirs, etc, etc, but at this point, I wouldn’t want anything to do with the institution anymore anyway. It seems to be the only card left to play, so fine. But I would rather relinquish it than give W the satisfaction of taking it.

  20. Eurydice says:

How do you restructure a hereditary monarchy? If a bomb goes off, you go down the line of succession – doesn’t matter if they’re working royals or not. I think it would take a vote of Parliament and some number of Commonwealth nations to remove someone from the line.

    • Mads says:

It would take all parliaments where Charles is Head of State and it’s a long list:

      United Kingdom
      Antigua and Barbuda
      Australia
      The Bahamas
      Belize
      Canada
      Grenada
      Jamaica
      New Zealand
      Papua New Guinea
      Saint Kitts and Nevis
      Saint Lucia
      Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
      Solomon Islands
      Tuvalu

Presenting an amendment to the Line of Succession would probably open up serious debate about becoming republics in several of these countries.

      • Eurydice says:

Yes, even if they started today, I don’t think Charles would live long enough to see the result. We know William doesn’t care about the Commonwealth, we know he doesn’t care much for his extended family and we know he doesn’t like to work. So, I can imagine a super streamlined monarchy of only him doing the absolute minimum requirements from inside Forest Lodge.

      • Nic919 says:

Removing Andrew would be easy especially with a conviction.

They aren’t going to remove Harry for simply moving to the states.

  21. Lucylee says:

I guess racism trumps sexual assault and treason.

  22. Harla says:

So Charles and William will restructure the Magic Blood Club to ensure that Magic Blood isn’t really Magic just kinda Magic, but only if you do exactly what they want? So which of WandK’s kids will be kicked out of the Magic Blood Club? Do they realize that they will undo generations of hereditary privilege, literally the underpinning of the entire class structure of the UK and particularly of the monarchy?

  23. OriginalMich says:

I love how all of these “punish Harry” sycophants act like William doesn’t have a million skeletons in his closet that they are covering up.

  24. Amy Bee says:

These crazy people keep equating what Andrew did with Harry’s decision to leave. There’s UK would be better off abolishing the monarchy.

  25. Okay says:

And? Stop threatening to take away titles and DO IT!

  26. Mads says:

Lownie is a historian and knows full well what’s required to change the Line of Succession, so I think there’s some pandering to the more deranged audience that follows Sykes, Wootton, Froelich et al. No monarchist worth their salt would seriously consider tampering with the hereditary principle.

  27. SuOutdoors says:

Am no expert. But I once read that dukedoms are actually sort of property. And you cannot seize property for no reason. Having strong feelings about someone won’t qualify

  28. Thinking says:

I don’t think you can alter the system too much because wouldn’t it then also affect all the aristocrats who own landed estates?

  29. Interested Gawker says:

This is so tedious. The media keeps recycling this foolishness like balls in a lotto machine.

No one wants titles taken away on a whim, it would destabilize the entire system.

They didn’t really take Andrew’s titles, it’s just smoke and mirrors.

That Pandora’s Box will stay closed.

  30. tamsin says:

This Lownie chap, a smug, self-righteous royalist, is becoming extremely tiresome.

  31. Elly says:

Someone needs to tell William that degrading Harry and Meghan will just make William look worse. We know it’s William’s go to but it’s not working anymore. How about removing the titles of all the left behinds who have been protecting a pedo in their vipers den?

  32. Miranda says:

Frankly, if I were Harry and Meghan, I’d give up those titles voluntarily now. The whole institution is being exposed as even more rotten than most people thought possible. They all knew what Paedrew was doing, saw no problem with it at the time, and are only now pretending to go along with the investigations of his less sordid crimes because they don’t think he’ll be punished as seriously (if at all) for those. I’m also convinced that Charles was, in fact, tipped off about the impending arrest and hurriedly bundled Paedrew out of RL in the dead of night in order to sweep the place and eliminate/tamper with evidence. On top of all that, we now know that William cozied up to and accepted donations from at least one Epstein associate who apparently enjoyed swapping torture videos. While it’s incredibly unfair to judge the Sussexes for the crimes and cover ups committed by Harry’s birth family, that’s inevitably what many will do. They really never needed those titles to succeed and make an impact in the first place, and now any association with the BRF runs the risk of being actively harmful to their reputation.

    • Interested Gawker says:

      All or nothing.

Either abolish the monarchy across the board so there are no more titles or not. If not, the Sussexes have no reason to offer their titles back a second time. They left years ago and established their life apart from the rest of the BRF with CIII’s verbal support upon his ascension.

They have no reason to give up their titles or insert themselves in this mess.

      • Miranda says:

Oh, abolishing the monarchy altogether would be ideal, for sure. But unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like the public is there just yet (granted, support has been steadily dwindling since QEII’s death, and all of this shit is likely to make that decline even more rapid).

And I agree that the Sussexes shouldn’t have to insert themselves in this mess, but my concern is that many people will do that for them anyway. They already shoehorn Harry and Meghan into every single royal news item, whether to distract from Andrew’s disgusting crimes or just William and Kate’s general laziness. Threatening to take away their titles yet again is exactly that. I think there’s an argument to be made for being proactive and at least TRYING to explicitly distance themselves.

      • Interested Gawker says:

“ They already shoehorn Harry and Meghan into every single royal news item”

That will never cease through any action H&M could contrive. They literally distanced themselves, other than that what else is there? You say giving up the titles would make some kind difference but H will always be a blood prince, giving up their titles/dukedom isn’t a solution to placate that sort of criticism, they will always ‘be’ royal.

To try to give the title back again would simply insert themselves back into the Royal story, those same critics would simply pivot to ‘the Sussexes want attention’. There is no reason for H&M insto engage with this mess after they already left with QEII leaving their titles intact.

    • Tessa says:

I don’t think that will satisfy scooter taking away titles I think he wants harry to leave Meghan and the children.

    • one of the marys says:

Miranda time will tell of course but I don’t think Meghan and Harry will be damaged by their association with the royal family. They left that mess behind and in many circles that reflects very well on them, as more poor behaviour is exposed. Meghan never mentions them so at this point you can’t say she’s trading on that association.
The main reason I don’t want them to voluntarily give up their titles is because I want to see how far William is willing to go. If you want the monarchy dismantled then letting William indulge his worst instincts is a way forward

  33. Mrs.Krabapple says:

Punishing Harry and Meghan again for telling the truth (which happened years ago). I’ve said it before, William needs professional (psychiatric) help.

    • Elly says:

Yes, if only someone in that family had told the truth about Andrew it would have saved a lot of girls. But no, Harry is the bad guy for “airing dirty laundry” while the left behinds were hiding Andrew’s filthy dirty laundry.

  34. Tessa says:

Scooter wants to take titles from sussexes. He imo will be a disaster as king

  35. Deneph says:

Man, Charles and William are going to the whole monarchy dismantled within 5 years if Liz dying, aren’t they?

  36. Meg says:

The pettiness runs deep with these people. Charles was so fixated on Camilla being endorsed as queen, by qe2 that he agreed to cover for Andrew and keep him close. Any ramifications or potential ramifications were disregarded in favor of petty concerns and short term gains and now KC is dealing with fallout with potential to disrupt or overshadow his reign. William is fixated on having power over Harry. Optics don’t matter. Public perception doesn’t matter. The most important thing for William is securing this petty and personal victory and all consequences be damned. He has leverage, and eventually he will have power. I think it will be negotiated between the courts (BP & KP) and the Sussex titles will be stripped as part of a royal restructuring , all consequences be damned. William knows on some level that he is cutting off his nose to spite his face, he just doesn’t care.

    • Tessa says:

Scooter really has no power over Harry or any real power. I think he will be an unpopular King, not everybody likes petty vengeful monarchs. Richard II banished his cousin Bolingbroke (later Henry IV) and that did not have happy results for Richard II.

  37. Me at home says:

So Harry and Meghan wanted to work part-time, and that would definitely be more than the 10%-time that Kate and Willy are working now. But the BRF said no to 50%, and now they might say, because you’re not working for us, you don’t get to keep your titles? Make it make sense.

If Charles really wants to introduce financial transparency, I’m all for that. But good luck with Willy maintaining it. Charles started publicizing his tax returns but Willy put an end to that the first year he inherited the duchy.

  38. Aimee says:

He’ll always be Prince Harry no matter what they do. Pffffttt.

  39. Teagirl says:

It’s my understanding that Dukedoms/titles/etc can only be taken away by parliament and that it has to be something incredibly serious like treason. I can’t see this happening because Harry has not committed treason; it would be the slippery slope for anybody with a title so the House of Lords wouldn’t pass it; it would affect the royal family itself as many of them are not working roles and what happens when you are retired?

If it ever did happen, Meghan has another title, she is a princess in her own right from Nigeria I think. I will happily call her princess Meghan!

    • Interested Gawker says:

“she is a princess in her own right from Nigeria”

Exactly, those coral necklaces weren’t a party favour!

  40. Sean says:

I’d say, “Come and get ‘em!”

  41. LauraD says:

William may (or may not) take away Harry’s titles but, he cannot deny that he’s his brother. He cannot take away Harry and Meghan’s wealth. He cannot stop Harry and Meghan travelling the world. He cannot stop the world’s media reporting their visits and good deeds. He cannot use Harry, Meghan or their children to shield the misdemeanours of his family. When it comes to Harry all William has is the power to take away his title. That’s it. That’s all he’s got.

  42. GMHQ says:

This is all nonsense. Lowney claims to be an historian but has found he can make more money as a gossip monger pretending to be a historian. H&M should keep on doing what they are doing…. Nothing. All of this talk of reform has been about a scaled down monarchy, which Charles has been barking about for decades. In fact, Brit’s couldn’t care about the titles, but do care about the expense of the entire enterprise. The number of royals has decline but the expense keeps rising, so Chucky might have more credibility if he was delivering a reduced royal budget. Not gonna happen!

  43. Gabby says:

Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t there a recent (months) Peg briefing about the brother he doesn’t think about anymore *snort*, in which it was conveyed he would NOT remove the Sussexes titles when he became king because he didn’t want to be viewed as petty? That he had moved on?

  44. tamsin says:

Prince and Princess are titles that are based on being born into the royal family. If only working royals should have titles then according to their logic, you can become a prince or princess if you are a working royal. Until then, you’re just mr. and miss/mrs? The title comes with the job, not with birth? Then if a king isn’t really doing his job, or enough work to qualify as “working” then his title should be taken away. Of course none of this is logical. In fact, can anyone remember when the term working royal first came into use?

  45. TN Democrat says:

The entire concept of royality should not exist in the modern world. Harry is more worthy of respect than his lazy, entitled brother. Harry works for a living, treats his wife with respect, doesn’t mooch of the tax payers and does more charitable work than his “working royal” brother. At this point let him jerk Harry’s title and experience the blowback. Harry losing his heredity title because of Willy’s decade long tantrum and not because of actual wrongdoing sets a precedent the titled aristocrats won’t tolerate.

  46. QuiteContrary says:

I think monarchy is dumb and corrupt but I think Harry and Meghan should cling to those titles as a matter of principle because of their children’s race.

Make the left-behinds try to strip them away to demonstrate how deeply racist the monarchy is. Don’t make it easy for them.
