Tiger Woods was arrested on suspicion of a DUI less than a month ago. He caused his fourth major car crash, and when cops arrived on the scene, Tiger was glassy-eyed, out of it and on the phone with Donald Trump. Seriously, he pulled the “I was just talking to the president” card to intimidate the cops. The cops remained unintimidated and they arrested him soon after. Oh, and he was carrying loose hydrocodone. Tiger has had well-documented issues with prescription pain pills for many years, and this arrest was hopefully his rock bottom. I don’t think it actually was his rock bottom, but hey, at least he checked into rehab again. According to People Magazine’s sources, Tiger is already thinking about getting back to golf as well. Girl, stop!!
Tiger Woods is hoping to make a return to golf after seeking treatment following his recent DUI arrest, a source tells PEOPLE exclusively.
According to a golf insider, Woods, 50, “desperately” wants to return to the sport — and that is motivating him to stick with his treatment. Days after his March 27 arrest, the athlete announced in a statement posted on X that he was “stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment” and focus on his health.
“This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery,” he said at the time.
Now, the source says Woods is doing what is needed to feel good both physically and mentally.
“He knows he needs to beat his issues and also deal with the pain from not only playing golf but also from his regular fitness schedule,” the source explains. “People around him are supporting him, both personally and professionally. All of this is helping him deal with it enough to get through it.”
Another source tells PEOPLE that Woods “still has golf in him,” including potential Masters or other tournaments, but things have become “harder” due to injuries and his age.
“He just wants to get better in all areas of his life,” the source notes.
A representative for Woods did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
The case I would make against “going back to golf” is not actually about the pills or the DUIs or the rehab – it’s about what golf has done to his body already. Just in the 2020s, Tiger has had major back surgeries, major ankle/tendon surgeries, major knee surgeries and at least one major foot surgery. These surgeries are largely why Tiger has battled an addiction to pills/opioids for years, not just “pain management,” but his attempt to facilitate his physical rehabilitation. It’s enough! Just retire and be with your Trumpy girlfriend, for the love of God. He’s 50! The golfers who are winning these days are guys in their 30s (Rory McIlroy) or 20s (Scottie Scheffler).

You are so right. At first I thought focusing on something he loves might be the very thing that helps him. That is until you mentioned the aggravating factors. The endless surgeries, the inevitable addiction to opiates, then the using opiates to play through the pain…ugh what a vicious cycle. He truly needs to retire.
No where in any of his statements does he prioritize public safety or apologize for putting others in jeopardy, or even acknowledge other people affected, like his kids or other drivers. It’s all about HIS wellness, HIS recovery, and HIS career and future.
Spot on Courtney. I’ll add he only wants to get back to golf cause he’s a narcissist and he misses the limelight. He is longing for the days when the conversation was all about him. Just go away already and eff off to Mar-a-Largo with ur buddy trump and ur girlfriend.
I think it’s the only area he feels in control and competent.
I just remember the big article that came out where the author followed him around while he did a bunch of faux military training I think after his dad died. He had knee problems and was doing these crazy weekend warriors things that gave him further injuries.
He won’t apologize because that would be admitting he’s guilty of a crime. Especially since this crime has yet to be adjudicated. He should apologize but he won’t.
I’m sure his lifestyle is very expensive. He needs to spend time in jail and he needs to have his license revoked permanently. Martha Stewart went to jail for so much less. He’s a narcissist who shows no remorse for any of the harms his caused. There’s a reason the mother of his children was driven to bashing his face in with his own golf clubs before divorcing his sorry ass. He needs help, but society needs protection from this reckless, selfish man.
Since 2008, he’s won one grand slam (in 2019). He’s another sportsman who can’t acknowledge he isn’t competitive at the top level anymore
Phil Mikelson (sp?) won a major at age 50, I can’t begrudge Tiger for following his love of golf, it’s his whole life. His attempts to compete don’t hurt anyone.
I don’t think Tiger has changed what he likes, life-wise. Given his love for downlow hookups and painkillers he really needs a self driving car. The safety of others should be paramount as he fights pain and his addictions to painkillers.
I absolutely love my job, which involves a lot of typing and luckily nothing physically strenuous. I honestly don’t know what I would do with myself if I were forced to retire before age 50. I can completely understand his wanting to keep doing the thing he loves, in the competitive environment he’s used to. It’s hard to just drop everything and come up with an entirely different purpose in life.
That said of course, he needs to install Uber or Waymo or something on his phone and not be driving impaired!
