Just as I anointed Christina Hendricks “Queen of the Trashy,” I am anointing Dame Anger Bear, Karl Lagerfeld, as “Queen of the Classy” for last night’s Costume Institute Met Ball. Karl looks like he’s going to cut somebody. As he should! Okay, let’s get this bitch started.
Sarah Jessica Parker surprised me with this. She looks great. Better than she’s looked in a long time on a red carpet.
Sienna Miller and Jude Law walked their first red carpet as a renewed couple. You can’t really see it in this photo, but Sienna’s wearing a mullet dress. And it works on her. They both look gorgeous.
It was also Tom Brady and Gisele’s first red carpet together since their baby Benjamin was born. Gisele looks tired, but happy. Her dress was all about her insane legs. And Tom needs to cut his hair, for real. He also looks like he’s grooming her here:
Blake Lively’s dress won’t make everyone’s best dressed list, but I love it. If you’re young with an amazing figure, this is what you should wear to a big fashion event. She looks great.
I know Rachel Zoe picked this out for Anne Hathaway. And I know it washes her out, kind of. But I still think she looks good, although Anne does veer into the “too princess-y” style too often. But great fit, great styling, and she’s one of my picks for best dressed.
Jennifer Lopez’s dress was very similar to Anne’s, and I thought Anne pulled it off better. Jennifer is actually “trashy” in my opinion, but I wanted to put her next to Anne so you could see the similarities.
Is Carey Mulligan high fashion? Not really. Much like Kristen Stewart, I think Carey is still finding her style, and ends up in some weird, quirky sh-t along the way (remember her Oscar dress?). But I like that Carey tried something cute and special, rather than some random gown – she looks like herself:
I was torn about whether to put Kate on the trashy or the classy list. It’s not a bad dress, really. It’s just totally plain, and it is utterly boring. Ugh.
I like the long-sleeve trend, and I welcome it back to fashion. I think Diane Kruger’s dress looks very Michael Kors circa 2000, but Zoe Saldana’s dress looks very fresh to me:
So, just shoot me, because I liked Kate Bosworth’s dress. Yes, I want to smack her. But this dress looks really good on her.
Just kill me again, because I thought Jessica Alba looked great too. Interesting color, great cut. It could have gone bridesmaid-y, but it didn’t.
How gorgeous is Iman? I love her.
Emma Watson’s skin and makeup are flawless. The dress? Eh. Good color for her, but it’s not really working for me. Still, I can’t call her trashy.
I liked Kerry Washington’s dress. I didn’t love it, but it is interesting, and it looks great on her.
F-ck, I liked Demi Moore’s dress too. I’m a sucker for metallics. This gunmetal color looks great on her, and the dress has an interesting cut and design.
I don’t hate January Jones’ dress, but her styling is crap. Why did I include this on the Classy list? I don’t know.
Let’s end it with Chloe Sevigny. You know what? She looks good here. Love the color, and the dress would have looked terrible and trashy on anyone other than Chloe.

Anger Bear is not classy. He wears the same thing everywhere. Timeless maybe, but he is that old.
Demi-Metallic classy? NO. JLo’s wedding? NO. Kate’s tired old dress cut? NO. Gis in S&M? Nooo… She looks very tired.
Iman rocks it as always. Best accessory Bowie ever had. I hate to admit it, but I want Jude’s hag’s dress!

Alba’s dress is nice, but her hair is awful. And totally disagree about Chloe’s dress, plus her styling is ugh. Hathaway’s dress would’ve been prettier in a real color, or even one of the gunmetal or bold metallics.

-Personally,I think Alba always looks gorgeous,and has great style. Even when she’s low key,she’s got a classic or sophisticated look about her,IMO,for someone under 30.
-Kate Hudson=always the same dress style with the low cut V. uugh. boring. esp when she is flat chested [though i know not so much now!]
-Okay,can we all agree that Jude Law is back to HOT? Now that he’s back with SIenna,she must be likea soulmate or something,bc he was getting nasty and old,and he looks fantastic,10 yrs younger I think. She looks great,too,love her dress-I think she’s got great style,could be iconic. And I simply dont hate her or think she’s all that trashy. Though she is vapid and self absorbed in all itnerviews,like most of hollywood.
-Demi always looks good in a metallic color,but it’s a trashy dress style,IMO.
-Hathaway-always with that neutral color and yea,prom type dress. it’s old,and doesnt flatter her face. I also think she should have shorter,more layered hair in general,to break up her facial features and create more harmony in her look. As it stands,her eyes,nose and lips DO stand out,but in a disordered way-like they all protude,and separately.
-Waston always looks good,and Mulligan does,too,IMO. Chloe’s dress is lame,and i dont really get the fascination with her. she should have been on worst dressed,alongside k-stewart. J Lo looks alright-remmeber: her style naturally IS knd of trashy. she can rock that look of almost tranny,almost vegas show girl,and still look hot and almost classy,IMO.

Seems to me that since “award season” has come to a close some of these people aren’t using a descent stylist. Overall they all look like crap besides SJP, Blake and Anne.

I only like a few of these, SJP, Kate H, Zoe, Alba and Kerry.
Emma’s would be fine except for the high slit right up the front, yikes.
Anne H’s is pretty, but a little too dress up as a fairy princess for me.
Carey’s is cute but WAY too casual for this. JLo’s has a cheap look on the skirt.
I don’t know about Blake’s – love the color and she looks awesome, but it’s just…kinda weird.

I liked Demi’s dress just not on her. I love Emma Watson, but the girl is starting to slouch and her hair always looks the same. I LOVE Carey Mulligan’s dress, but those tights and shoes just make it way to casual. The black tights and icky black shoes make it look way to school girl.

I have two teen cousins who look up to miley cyrus as their fashion icon. I wish they looked more to emma watson, because even though that particular dress she’s wearing isn’t the greatest, you’re definitely right in that she can’t be called trashy.

I like Emma Watson, Iman, Kate Bosworth and Sienna Miller. Hate Demi. Liked Carey Mulligan’s dress, but not for this event; liked January Jone’s dress ok (flash makes the colour look garish), but the styling is rank. Diane Kruger looks terrible in that condom! The rest are pretty ‘meh’ as far as I’m concerned.
I’m really liking (who we believe to be) Zooey’s dress, a bit droopy on the bust, but it suits her personality.
But the main thing I’m taking away is that the Marcel Wave is BACK! Better stock up on my YouTube tutorials

EMMA WATSON looked stunning in her custom made Burberry gown. She looked so elegant and youthful. I don’t know why all the other celebs her age try to look so much older than they really are. Emma exemplifies the term English Rose.

Ok so:
J. Lo looks fine IMO. And her dress actually fits her better than Anne’s. The cut at the bodice is better than the weird triangular cut for Anne’s dress. I don’t like strapless triangular cuts at the top; it makes breasts look weird and reminds me too much of a witch costume.
Demi looks like she is wearing a trash bag.
I really like Carey Mulligan’s style and I really liked her Oscar dress. I liked the twist with the quirky directions on the front of it. She is young and having fun with her style; it’s way better than Kristen Stewart’s, please don’t compare the two.

I dunno, I like Careys dress, it’s cute and funky, but I don’t think it’s appropriate for the occassion. It’s to simple and “everyday”.
