The news came out Wednesday evening that Megan Fox was likely fired from Transformers 3. Just a few hours later, People Magazine put up an exclusive statement from Megan’s rep: “Megan Fox will not be starring in Transformers 3. It was her decision not to return. She wishes the franchise the best.” So Megan was announcing that she was quitting the franchise, and many of us rolled our eyes and moved on with a “Sure, whatever you say, Megan.” Granted, she could have quit. But I still thought it was more likely that Michael Bay got the last laugh and canned her unprofessional, smack-talking ass.

Now The Sun has a new theory on why Bay and Fox split ways. According to their sources, Bay and Fox had a major fight over Megan’s slender figure. As in, Bay thought she was too thin and unhealthy-looking to convincingly play “the girl who runs around with her boobs out”. So they fought and Megan stormed out.

MEGAN FOX quit movie blockbuster Transformers 3 after a blazing row with superstar director MICHAEL BAY over her vanishing weight, The Sun can reveal.

Fox’s fragile frame concerned the director and his team on the set as they prepared to shoot the third installment of the movie franchise that made her a star. Bay, 45, thought the 24-year-old looked “unhealthy” and wanted her to put on weight if she wanted to resume her role as Mikaela Banes in the third film.

This sparked a massive fight and left the blockbuster looking for a new leading lady with production beginning this month.

A source on the movie revealed yesterday: “Megan stormed out after a huge row with Michael Bay. He thinks she has lost too much weight and looks too frail. He wanted her to put on some weight and it all kicked off. The crew don’t think she looks well, let alone the wholesome, curvy star they cast in the first film. She’s going for this gaunt, pale image and it just looks unhealthy.”

This is not the first time Fox – who regularly tops world’s sexiest woman polls – has found herself at the centre of the size zero row. She has been criticised for revealing she guzzles down neat vinegar as a quick fix to shed pounds. She has also previously told how she fell into depression after her weight plummeted.

She said last year: “I turned into a zombie. I lost like 30 pounds. I was telling myself I was method acting, which was not true. I ended up getting sick and my hair started falling out.”

And just this week she told a magazine: “I’ll starve to death before I’ll cook for myself. I think I could survive a week without eating.”

Fox and director Bay have had a volatile relationship since he cast her in the Transformers film that shot her to superstardom. She compared the director to Adolf Hitler in an interview last year and called him a “nightmare” work – for sparking rumours she would be dumped from the third film. But he tried to dispel the rumours when he announced the movie in October, writing online: “Megan Fox, welcome back. I promise no alien robots will harm you in any way during the production of this motion picture.”

Rumours swept Hollywood this week that Fox had been fired by the director. But Fox’s spokesman insisted yesterday: “Megan Fox will not be starring in Transformers 3 It was her decision not to return.”

The franchise is one the most successful in Hollywood history having made more that £1 billion worldwide. Brit star GEMMA ARTERTON, 24, is among the favourites to take over the female lead in the franchise.

Eh. I think this kind of sounds like it was put out by Bay’s people. Like, they wanted him to seem like the good guy who was really concerned about his fragile star and he put his foot down because he was so concerned about her health. As far as Megan looking unhealthy – well, she’s always been really thin, right? She’s a petite girl.

Meanwhile, everybody’s new favorite game seems to be Transformers casting. As The Sun claims, Gemma Arterton’s name is being mentioned, but I don’t really think she’s in the running. Esquire is suggesting actresses like Emmanuelle Chiriquí (but she’s even thinner than Megan Fox!), Odette Yustman (who?), Laura Ramsey (she was in two episodes of Mad Men) and Ashley Green (boring). They also mention Katy Perry for some reason. But my favorite of the Esquire names is Mila Kunis. Mila wouldn’t be a bad choice at all!

Would you like to know who I want to replace Megan? And since I’ve never seen these f-cking movies, it’s not like this casting decision will really sway me anyway, but I just like the idea of this person replacing Megan Fox: Jessica Biel. Think about it… Biel should be the obvious choice. She thinks she’s gorgeous (like Megan), she constantly gives interviews where she sounds full of sh-t (like Megan) and her acting range is limited (like Megan). Plus, she’s desperate for work!
