I, for one, hopes she does it. It would be good for her career and a chance to get out of the house.

Not exactly a starring role. won’t be on stage long enough to screw it up.

I’m so glad that someone else doesn’t think think she is much to look at. I think leading ladies should have interesting features, not look like every 3rd girl on any given college campus.

Anyhoo… I remember reading that she was a dancer for awhile & when she hosted SNL part of her monolouge was a dance number. I think she’d be MUCH better suited for a role in a some sort of musical rather than a drama.

    But thats just me

While I totally support anything that gets her away from the clutches of TC and his scientology loonies, does she have the chops for Broadway? She was pretty useless in Thank Your for Smoking (an awesome movie by the way). Katie playing a devious reporter was beyond her grasp. Who knows, maybe she’ll pull it off and be a huge success and leave TC in the dust. oh, that would be great!

Don’t forget about her awful turn in Batman. Blech!

I don’t get the “in talks” part. Does that mean she doesn’t have to audition? I can totally understand Dianne Wiest and John Lithgow not having to audition – they’re great actors with lots of credentials to their names. What has Katie really been in – especially lately – that required her to stretch what talent she has? I can’t see her in a heavy role. The only films I’ve ever seen her in were The Gift & Batman Begins, both roles being rather small ones, and she wasn’t very good in either.

I guess I’m just saying that her name shouldn’t be the only qualification for her getting roles.

Her relationship with Tim Cruise aside, I think she is a rather good actress. I was surprised when I finally watched pieces of April and she could act. I also think she is a pretty girl in a natural sweet way. Nothing overly sexual or sultry and I think that works against her. She can’t get away with the aggressive bad person parts.

Broadway will be good for her. I am not knowledgeable about the role but something different will do her good. Broadway also brings out the talent which I know this girl has.

Are you forgetting when she played a brooding, cynical, confused teenager on Dawson’s Creek?

That had to be kind of a stretch for her at the time seeing as how she was a … brooding… confused… teenager..

    :)

thought she was pretty, till she turned into sci-zombie. that just seemed to suck the life and the prettiness out of her. perhaps she needs an intervention that includes watching “stepford wives” a couple dozen times. (hey, wasn’t nicole in that? maybe that was where she got her ‘motivation’ for the role– remembering her marriage to tommy!)

All My Sons is one of the best plays Arthur Miller ever wrote… and Ann Deever is a pretty big part in the show. If she was Lydia she’d only be on stage for a grand total of 1 scene, but Ann is deeply involved at the heart of the play… it’s extremely complex and emotional and filled with mountains of symbolism. Something I doubt the always verbose and overly analytical Joey Potter can handle.

I think she is better actress than many people think she is. We only know her from mainly Dawson’s creek but Michelle seemed a decent actress in DC yet she has blossomed. Once Tomkat boils over, I think we will see Katie the actress. I will give her time. May be a broadway role is what she needs.

I don’t know, everyone thought Julia Roberts would be good on Broadway, and look what happened. Her acting wasn’t necessarily bad, but she didn’t have the training in live theatre to help her project her voice or emote physically enough for the audience to react to her. I can’t help thinking Katie will run into the same problems. She isn’t a very strong actress on screen, and performing live on stage is VERY different than filming a movie.

  15. wtf says:

Seriously? Are you serious Kate/ie? Really . . . Seriously?

When did you become a talented actress? Really. I can’t quite place when that was. Was it while shooting that Mrs. Tingle movie, or the Ben Pratt dude that bombed? What was the name of that winner? I have no idea really. Hmmmm. Have you been nominated for any major awards I haven’t heard about? I could be wrong. Have you?

Now you did the Mad Money movie where you did all your interviews like a robot to make it seem like you seriously stretched your “chops” to play the “air-head” of the group that had a personality. You are just not Broadway talent.

Quit allowing your husband to buy you roles. It’s quite embarressing REALLY.

thanks you letting me get this out. I feel better.

Aaww: I think she’s really beautiful, even dressed in those ‘too old’ clothes. I’d never seen or heard of her until I saw her in ‘Thank you for Smoking’ and I thought she did a great job. I hope that Broadway works out for her and that she does well. I hope you are right, Kelly and that she has a good future after Tomkat rolls over.

Great. I can see Tiny Tom appearing at every performance and jumping up and down on his seat whenever Holmes appears, shouting “That’s my wife!!! I’m not gay!!!!”

I hope she does broadway and nails it. I’ve always thought she could do more than she has and I’d like to know if my instincts are on target.
I do think she needs to give some attention to her look sometimes though …
