Ashton Kutcher helps Rumer Willis buy her $1 million dream home

The National Enquirer has a very interesting story about Rumer Willis and her step dad, Ashton Kutcher. Not surprisingly, as Demi’s oldest and closest in age to Ashton (closer in age to him than Demi), Rumer apparently turns to Ashton for advice… and for money. The Enquirer claims that Rumer “fell in love” with a two-bedroom LA bungalow that was suitably “not far from her favorite celebrity hotspots.” The problem? The $1 million price tag, which Rumer couldn’t afford. I guess she’s supporting herself as an actress? And that’s probably why she doesn’t have the money, just a guess. What? I wasn’t trying to be a bitch. Okay, I was. Rumer can’t act, and it doesn’t surprise me that she can’t afford a starter home. Granted, most 21-year-olds can’t afford their own $1 million home. But didn’t you know that Rumer is a movie star?!?

“At first Rumer felt awkward asking Ashton for help,” a source told the Enquirer. “She knows that not all step dads would be so happy to help out with such a big commitment. But Ashton said he would be very happy to help with the purchase, especially when he saw how much she wanted the house. He thinks of her as his own daughter, so it was impossible for him to say no.”

The house is in the same quiet neighborhood as Sacha Baron Cohen’s home, and it’s close to several major studios, so Rumer will have a short commute to casting calls.

The Enquirer has obtained a copy of the deed to her house, which shows that Ashton and Rumer each own 50 percent of the property. Ashton is listed under his birth name of Christopher.

Added the source: “Rumer has been having a blast picking out furniture and decorations to give the place her personal touch.”

[From The Enquirer, print edition]

Question: why didn’t Demi or Bruce help Rumer with the purchase? Were they trying to apply a little tough financial love on their daughter and get her to only purchase what she can afford? And then she ran to her step dad and begged him to buy her a house. I should feel sympathetic, but I’m having my own real estate woes, so f-ck her.

By the way, last weekend Ashton did an extensive interview with The Daily Mail, and he talked about his stepdaughters, his wife and Bruce, of course. The whole thing is worth a read, but there were a couple of interesting quotes I wanted to pull:

I’d sworn off relationships before I met my wife.
We met in New York, where I was hosting Saturday Night Live, and at the time I was saying to myself, ‘I’m going to party, I’m going to sleep with this girl and that girl and just have a good time.’ And then I met Demi and it was like, ‘I can’t not be with this person.’ I think it’s fate in a way. Anyone who’s looking for a relationship can’t find one, but as soon as you let go of the need or desire, it’ll show up, just like that.

Bruce (Willis) is one of my favourite people to hang out with.
At first it was difficult. You think, ‘He’s the guy who used to sleep with my wife’, but once you overcome the jealousy, which is just your own personal insecurity, it gets easier. People ask us, ‘How do you guys get on so well?’ Well, I don’t like everything Bruce does, and I’m sure he doesn’t think everything I do is great. But being with Bruce is normal to me now. We go scuba-diving, skiing, we hang out with the girls together, we watch movies, we talk about sport.

It’s really easy to fly on a private plane and have no idea how much that costs.
I make sure all three of our girls know the value of money and have the experience of doing some physical, blue-collar labour like I did. They really know what it’s like to graft. They’ve worked in a store. I had Rumer work on a construction site with my dad for a while, and Scout went to Guatemala working for Habitat for Humanity and helped to build a house. I think it’s so important.

There’s no such thing as a bad kid; there are just good kids who make bad decisions.
One of the things I do now is go and talk to kids in juvenile detention. I tell them, ‘I’m the guy who sat in jail, I’m the guy who walked around town with my baseball cap down, I’m the guy who tried drugs, I’m the guy who got a girl pregnant.’ When I was a kid, I did all that. Now the world has accepted me. Some people may not like my work, but in some ways I’ve become a role model. So remember, the next time you think of one of those people as bad, they’re just like Ashton. Because the truth is, I was that guy, 100 percent, but I turned my life around.

[From The Daily Mail]

He got a who what now? Pregnant? What? Is there some Kutcher love child that we have no idea about? Or maybe the girl had a miscarriage or abortion. In which case, none of our business. But I found the “value of money” thing very interesting, especially given the $1 million house purchase. Could it be that he’s made Rumer a loan and she has to pay him back directly? If that’s the case, poor Rumer. Having a step-father as “the bank”. Yikes.

    Wow looks like he and Rumer are dating…weird.

  2. BReedy says:

    E-w-w-w-w-w! Suddenly he seems very seedy.

  3. Granger says:

    Call me old fashioned, but there is something so WRONG about a 21-year-old buying a $1 million house.

  4. Ruby Red Lips says:

    Bit odd that Ashton is buying her a house & not her parents…but hey its Hollywood, nothing is normal there

  5. Tazina says:

    I thought Rumer was a good actress in everything I’ve seen her in. It depends on how mature she is with regard to buying her own home. Seems like a good idea. If you’re got the cash, why not.

  6. Lori says:

    OMG he knocked someone up as a teenager?! Am I stoned or did I take that the right way. This is new information?! I need more deets.

  7. Stephie says:

    She can’t afford her own 1M house (aw, don’t you feel for her? pft) but she can afford to spend time (and cash) decorating? Hm. Don’t see how he could consider someone just a bit younger than him as “his daughter,” that’s just creepy.

  8. Lori says:

    Stephie, I pretty much think he is banging her tbh. Someone had to say it. Look at that last picture, those are guilty eyes Kutcher!

  9. LindyLou says:

    I’m surprised no one has mentioned the ciggie she’s holding in the last photo….

  10. padiddle says:

    Lori – we may be horrible people, but I agree! Why else would it be him and not her actual parents buying her the house? Also, it looks like he’s staring at her boobs in the first picture.

  11. Anne says:

    Woody Allen…nuff said.

  12. Lynnie says:

    They look more like a couple than he and his old lady do.

  13. Leticia says:

    I wish he would have mentioned how much fuel a private jet uses, and just for the few people on board.

  14. GracieXDoes says:

    She has a face for radio.

  15. Lem says:

    boy some of y’all are jaded
    ..
    Love articles in print. he didn’t say it spelled like that, lol. cracks me up. Of course that’s normal, but for some reason it’s always – lmao

  16. Eileen Yover says:

    LOL Gracie….that’s putting it eloquently.

    Don’t like her and don’t care about the house…just wondering why my mom didn’t give me a stepdad that looks like him.

    But when he was talking about hanging out with Bruce I kept picturing him talking like he did on Punk’d…and man if I was Bruce I would want to punch him.

  17. Kelbear says:

    Lmao Gracie

  18. LindaR says:

    Even when she tries that coy, duck-your-head thing for photos, she can’t hide the ugly. Poor kid. She should capitalize on it like Joan Cusack instead of deluding herself that she is pretty and trying to get parts that are only suited to the good-looking girls.

  19. Lem says:

    CB/Kaiser: the Coleman photo is on the front page of the daily mail link. FWIW but small, so I didn’t get blasted & was able to avoid it.
    but it stays on the side tab. As i tried to read about John Goodman so… how bout you tell me about John Goodman

  20. Jen says:

    Recently saw goofy horror movie “Sorority Row” and kept thinking “who is this goofy looking girl with the long head?” RUMER! She was the smart one who didn’t have sex and survived, even though she wasn’t the star. LOL

    I am over 40 (barely) and my boyfriend is 7 years younger than me. Trust me, keeping up with a younger man sexually isn’t easy. Demi’s gotta be verrry close to menopausal. Add to that three teenage girls. Hmmmm…..could something be going on? I’ve always thought that something was off about that situation.

  21. Maritza says:

    Ashton is so handsome! He’s a great step dad too. It would be nice if he had his own kids one day.

  22. Marjalane says:

    Did Bruce and Demi, (and I guess creepy step-daddy Ashton) insist that these girls get an education and be prepared for “Plan B” in the event their illustrious entertainment careers didn’t take off?! Even if they do become successful in the “biz”, most of these offspring desperately need to expand their horizons.

  23. Jen says:

    To be fair, a million dollars for a house in California doesn’t buy you much of a house. For instance: http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/1624-North-Normandie-Avenue_Los-Angeles_CA_90027_1115531586

    Sooooo glad I live in the Midwest.

  24. vi says:

    that relationship is weird. how can you see someone who is few years younger than you as your daughter, tell them where to work and lend them money. it doesn’t seem appropriate!

  25. Kelaa Khaa says:

    Yep, in that last pic, “he’s got Jesse Jameses eyes” to the tune of kim carnes betty davis eyes.

  26. missmilly says:

    I never realized this ’til these pictures but Ashton is hot

  27. Feebee says:

    She’s 21 and she NEEDS her dream house? She’s not old enough to have a dream house. Why the rush to own at her age? Can one of her parents couldn’t spot her the cash?

    Lots of questions around this one. I don’t think he’s banging her though, I mean why would he? Then again Jesse James…….

  28. Eileen Yover says:

    No way-they aren’t hooking up….I would hope and pray he has better taste than that! She probably likes him though-he is a cutie!

  29. guesty says:

    this post is by far the funniest & best i’ve read on here evvah! lol.

  30. Captaine says:

    That’s one unfortunate lookin chick. Got dayum dat braud is ooglae

  31. Scarlet Vixen says:

    @ Jen: You make a very good point: $1M really isn’t alot of money for a house in SoCal (I grew up there but now also live in the Midwest–thank god).

    I don’t see anything wrong with buying a house at 21–why throw the money away on rent instead of making the investment? I also don’t think it’s weird that her step-parent co-signed the loan for her. Being young, she may not have enough credit history (I had that problem when I bought my house a few years ago), and Demi and Bruce probably own more property than Ashton does, so why not put his name on the deed?

  32. Hautie says:

    I be willing to bet that the 2 bedroom bungalow is maybe 1000 sq. feet. Real Estate is ridiculous in California. I don’t see it weird that she went to Ashton. Would you really want your parents in your financial business?
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    What bugs me the most is people constantly calling her ugly. It is just cruel and uncalled for.
    She is aware that she is not the beautiful one. That equally physically ugly Perez has made sure she knew by calling her potato head every chance he gets.
    Why is it okay to be so cruel to women but never do the fat ugly men in LA get the same treatment?
    At least Rumor is trying to work and support her self. I have seen a couple of shows she has done and she has not embarrassed herself with the acting.
    And as far as the off spring of A List actors goes… she is trying to be a decent person and work legit jobs. Instead of sitting in federal lockup for being a meth dealer.
  33. Kim says:
    Buying a young girl a million dollar home certainly isnt teaching her the value of money in any way shape or form. And hello her own mother and father have millions so why did she ask Ashton? makes no sense.
  34. Carrie says:
    You know, she may not have asked her parents because she’s trying to be independent financially (and yes, going to Ashton is not being independent, but at 21, not going to your parents can be a big deal).
    I choose to believe that he has an appropriate, step-father relationship with those three girls, based on everything I’ve seen and read.
    These people all have a lot of money, so I would bet there is some tax/portfolio reason why Ashton is co-signing her loan.
  35. Cinderella says:
    If I had a stepdad that hot, I’d have a hard time keeping impure thoughts out of my head.
  36. Mistral says:
    It’s too bad Ashton and Demi don’t have kids together (he might have the title “step-dad”, but he’s probably more of an older brother/pal figure). I wonder if he and Demi would have cute kids?
    As for Rumer and her million buck home…well, that’s what the rich do! They spend money. Deserving or not, that’s just her luck to be born with a silver spoon.
  37. Camille says:
    They look like they are a couple in these pics and they actually look cute together. I think they should hook up lol.
  38. The Bobster says:
    Without her “connections”, she’d be scrubbing toilets, not trying to buy a $1 million house.
  39. D. says:
    The photos are disturbing because they look so much more natural as a couple, due to age, than Ashton and Demi.
    I’m a 41 year old woman, and I think an age difference that big is problematic regardless of gender.
  40. Vanessa says:
    I don’t think Rumer is ugly. I hope Demi and Ashton can have their own children without using donor eggs. I’ll be sending well wishes their way. 🙂
  41. Falula says:
    I am grossed out by all of the people that are just throwing it out there that they could be sleeping together. He has never seemed like anything but a step father to these girls to me- that’s just gross.
    Maybe in 10 years I’ll be hanging my head when you all are right, but I certainly hope not.
  42. Majosha says:
    @Eileen: I was thinking the same thing: If Ashton is going to cheat, surely he could find a better looking groupie than Rumer.
    And I bought my first house when I was 30, and convincing the bank to give us a loan was a f*cking nightmare, because my husband and I were both freelancing at the time. So eff this ho.
  43. breyan says:
    I thought the same (sleeping together) thing. The ‘I think of her as one of my own kids’ is BS. She was way too old when he became her step-dad. An adult step-child is not the same as a biological child.
  44. kh says:
    that’s quite the look he’s giving her in pic 1.
  45. Luci says:
    black shirt with blue pants 😛
    really??
  46. Jen says:
    Shit. I’d love to have a step-dad who looked like Ashton. Bring it on!
  47. Hey, this here is just the sort of assurance my partner and I were browsing around for. Thank you to the original writer, we definitely will take note of this to investigate all of the site at a future time. Extremely useful!
  48. Kasey says:
    I know it’s just a quick shot but the way he appears to be looking at her in that first pic is oh-so sketchy. I don’t think anything is going on with them though, he has plenty of other women who are considered far more attractive by this world’s standards throwing themselves at him. I do NOT think he’s stupid enough to do that to Demi or face Bruce’s wrath…..I don’t get why her parents didn’t help her other than to make her more independent or her desire to be so. And if that’s the case, then yes, going to Ash instead of her parents can give her some kind of independence in her own eyes…….Pretty smart of him though, help her out and have her owe him so he can have a back-up place to crash when Demi cuts him loose.
  49. Chili Frank says:
    Quite nice article, even if I have to mention that I’m not so familiar with the theme. Now I know a bit more 🙂 Frank
