Robert Pattinson: “I don’t like the idea of having to settle”

Robert Pattinson and the Twilight team have already started the American promotional tour for Eclipse. Thus, Sparkles sat down with an interview for Today – being interviewed by Jenna Bush Hager. You know what? Not even one minute into this interview, I was totally charmed. My affection for Sparkles just continues to grow. I don’t even give a sh-t about Twilight, I just love him. Sigh… here you go, with some transcribed quotes from People Magazine:

Forget getting engaged or getting married. Robert Pattinson has more modest goals in mind for his immediate romantic future.

“I would like to go on a date,” the Twilight actor told interviewer Jenna Bush Hager on Monday’s Today show on NBC. “I’m just saying. I’m just putting that out there. Because I never go on dates anymore.”

If and when he does get married, the British actor, 24 – who’s been linked to his costar, Kristen Stewart, 20 – says he doesn’t like the term “settling down.”

“I don’t think settling down should be the same thing as getting married,” he says, adding with a laugh: “I mean, I guess settling down just means not sleeping with everybody. I don’t like the idea of having to settle, though.”

True to form, Pattinson did not discuss Stewart. But he did talk about Taylor Lautner, and joked that they’ve had a serious rivalry off screen, too. “Very competitive,” Pattinson says. “I want to have better hair than him. I want to have a better six-pack. No, he’s great. I’ve been close with him throughout the whole series.”

Asked how he feels about news that the fourth Twilight novel, Breaking Dawn, will indeed be shot as two films, Pattinson said it’s a little bit daunting. “Just cause it’s a long shoot,” he says. “The last time, when we were shooting Eclipse in Vancouver, the entire paparazzi population of L.A. came up and just camped outside the hotel. So, if it’s in Vancouver, I’ll probably end up getting cabin fever and end up jumping off the balcony.”

What do you think it means that Sparkles doesn’t want to settle?!? What do you think it means that he seems ambivalent about only sleeping with one person? Ooh, the tabloids will have a field day, I’m sure. Is Pattinson just not that into Kristen Stewart? Or is he just saying he wants to go on one “date” with her? Aw… I was trying to describe to my mom why I dig Pattinson (he beeps on my mom’s gaydar), and I found myself at a loss for words. It’s like… Pattinson is who I would have been totally in love with when I was 13 years old. He’s charming, funny and sweet, but without being Disney and wholesome and sickeningly vanilla. That’s just why I love him.

    He is single.
That’s what you get from these comments.
Why else would he say that without being asked?
He also added “I want to put that out”-he wants the people to know he is available.

  2. aenflex says:

No one, not even sparkles, should have to settle for only sleeping with one person forever! Chit!

  3. ien says:

he is very good looking but i find something asexual about him.
i couldn’t even picture him having sex.

  4. Vee says:

He’s a charming, hardworking person. He appears to have a great head on his shoulders and takes all the hoopla surrounding him well. And he gives great interviews. I’ve been won over by Sparkles too and wish him well.

  5. scrappy says:

me to Vee. and my mom does not get the attraction either. she says he looks like he has a hair lip.

  6. chris says:

Yeah, I’m with you. I’m pretty much in love with the guy. Seeing and listening to him brings sunshine and everything. I’m not even kdding. I think he’s dating KStew. Well probably not dating according to him but just holed up in his room and wanting to go on dates. Tough luck kid. You and her can make a bed of money with your millions and roll around in it to keep you comfort.

  7. serena says:

He’s very charming, and that’s a very good point. there are too much arrogants “movie-star” these days, luckly he’s not one of them.

  8. he is so ugly now, in harry potter he was hot now he’s not….

  9. Milan says:

ROFL! Scrappy! That’s why i love celebitchy, nothing is sacrosant not even Sparkly McSparklepants!

  10. Nic says:

There are too many unthankful and whining actors and celebrities who only complain and act as if they have real problmes.
    He’s humble. I respect that.

  11. SweetStuf says:

Ok, he said that to him he guesses settling down means not sleeping with everybody and he said he does not want to settle down then LOL. To me it doesn’t sound like he is with Kristen then. I mean come on, he’s young, 24 years old, he should date and play the field and branch out. Why should he be strapped to Kristen’s butt. She’s not the only woman out there you know. These two people have their whole life ahead of them.

  12. Jos says:

Why the hell should he attach himself to a lesbian?
She prefers women and can’t hide it despite all the damage control her PRteam and the studio are doing.

  13. Carrie says:

I like him as well- he just comes across as really likable and relatable, but there’s a little streak of naughty in him, I think.

He’s 24 (or 25, maybe?) and Kirsten Stewart is 20- and you can really see the extra maturity developed over those important 4-5 years when you compare the interviews of the two. She hasn’t quite figured out how to craft a public persona that manages to give the public something interesting and entertaining while also walling off something for herself. So she bitches.

  14. Chelsey says:

Am I the only one that thinks that Jenna Bush Hager is a HORRIBLE correspondent? Ugh, I could hardly stand to listen to her long enough to watch the interview. Painful.

  15. Dani says:

She is an immature HW child-actor who got told like all those children that they are special and are used to have others do everything for them.

Pattinson had a normal upbringing where respect was thought and from everything he ever told about his family his behaviour fits with the English reserved and humble attitude.

  16. Lulu says:

I can’t find anything that would attract me to him. On the first picture he looks like he had something very heavy on face while sleeping… I don’t know, a whale?

  17. buckley says:

I wish he had better grooming habits.
His clothes always look dirty to me.
I think he’s better looking than Taylor Lautner, but Taylor always looks very cleaned up.

  18. emma says:

I agree with you Chelsea, Jenna Bush was horrible.

  19. Emily says:

I don’t get the attraction, but I do like him as a person. He’s funny, and I think KStew could take a few pointers from him on how to handle the insanity the Twihards bring.

  20. DiMi says:

Chelsey – you are not the only one who thought Jenna Bush was awful. Her voice is so grating I could barely sit through that short interview. I found her disturbing.
