Lindsay Lohan checked into a “sober living house” yesterday, to avoid jail

LOS ANGELES, CA - JULY 06: (EDITORS NOTE: THIS IMAGE CONTAINS EXPLICIT LANGUAGE ON THE SUBJECT'S FINGERNAIL) Actress Lindsay Lohan attends a probation revocation hearing at the Beverly Hills Courthouse on July 6, 2010 in Los Angeles, California. Lindsay Lohan was found in violation of her probation for the August 2007 no-contest plea to drug and alcohol charges stemming from two separate traffic accidents, she is scheduled to surrender on July 20, 2010 to serve her 90 day jail sentence. Guess what was bullsh-t? All that stuff about Lindsay not appealing her case and going off to jail without all of this crack drama. While the appeal could still happen, Lindsay has apparently chosen to try to get out of her jail sentence by checking into a “sober living house” in West Hollywood. TMZ and Radar are confirming this, and both have photos and video of Dina Lohan and Sam Ronson visiting this place, where it seems Lindsay is now staying. This crackhead – JUST GO TO JAIL.

In perhaps a last-minute attempt to avoid jail, troubled actress Lindsay Lohan secretly checked into a sober living home founded by famed Los Angeles attorney Robert Shapiro, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned. Lohan arrived at Pickford Lofts in West Hollywood, California around 3:45 p.m. local time on Wednesday, and managed to slip inside without cameras catching her.

Later Wednesday night, RadarOnline.com captured video of Lindsay’s on-again-off-again girlfriend, DJ Samantha Ronson outside the home. She visited with LiLo for about a half an hour before leaving to pick up some groceries and extra pillows for the Mean Girls star. Lindsay’s mother, Dina, arrived at Pickford Lofts around Midnight, and didn’t answer any questions as she entered the home with another woman.

Then, around 1 a.m. Thursday, long after Sam had left, Lindsay’s other rumored gal pal, Israeli military vet Eilat Anschel, also visited her at Pickford Lofts.

In its website, Pickford Lofts is described as a facility which “strives to offer a safe haven so that those in all stages of recovery can develop skills that will aid them in their journey of sobriety.”

Unless Shapiro is able to somehow successfully appeal her sentence, keep LiLo out of jail, Lohan is expected to turn herself in next Tuesday, July 20 to begin serving her sentence.

Calls to Shapiro seeking comment weren’t immediately returned.

Is this as cheap of a move as I think it is? Does Lindsay think she’s fooling anyone? It’s the same crackhead drama, dressed up as recovery. People who work at real rehabilitation facilities and work with real addicts and alcoholics who are genuinely struggling should be very, very upset. Because something tells me that Lindsay is not committed to anything involving sobriety, she’s only committed to being an entitled little a–hole who is too scared to face the consequences of her crackhead actions.

    BOOOOOOO!!!

  2. Jazz says:

She’s not going to take rehab seriously. Maybe it’s all Dina’s doing because Mel Gibson is getting all the publicity lately. Ugh, just do your time and quit whining.

  3. UrbanRube says:

That attorney looks like she’s just about had it with Lindsay. That poor girl was not raised right, and this is the price. That whole original family of hers ought to get locked down into family therapy and exorcise a few emotional demons.

  4. Maritza says:

Justice cannot let her get away with this. She has to pay her sentence and go to jail like any other convicted person. She is not above the law.

  5. Green Is Good says:

Holy sh*t, does Hohan look INSANE in the above photos.

Who didn’t this coming? Into “rehab” (LOL) to avoid jail time.

  6. anna says:

ugh – dont credible sober living facilities enforce a curfew?? I highly doubt any program worth entering would allow visitors after 11pm nevermind 1am!

  7. embertine says:

Please please please let Tuesday come around and Judge She’s-My-Hero send the heavies round to cart this crackhead off to the clink. I would pay good money to see that.

  8. Penguen says:

Right. Whatever. She belongs in jail.

  9. Ogechi says:

I know i do have pity for Lindsay but she sure needs help. And i guess jail is where the help lies.

  10. mayma says:

“People who work at real rehabilitation facilities and work with real addicts and alcoholics who are genuinely struggling” DO NOT allow visits at one o’clock in the morning. If this is how Shapiro operates that so-called sober house, then absolutely nothing is going to change for her.

  11. Anti-icon says:

WTF??? How can she check into a facility FOUNDED by her attorney?!! Conflict of interest that only the WEALTHY AND PRIVILEDGED offenders get. This pisses me off. Doesn’t this make Shapiro DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE for her complete and total compliance now? And how in God name is this train wreck supposed to comply in a “sober house, a la celebre'” that surrounds her with more of the same enablers and monied dealers that she’s already had the enormous priviledge of recovering with THREE TIMES.

This is so unjust to the regular people–middle class and poor–who don’t ever get these passes. She needs jail time. Or at the very least, a HARD-CORE, LEGITIMATE criminal rehab facility. Not Shapiro’s playhouse for celebrities.

  12. Rachel says:

Hopefully when she doesn’t check in for jail on Tuesday they will issue a warrant for her arrest.

  13. denise says:

That bottom pic of Lindsay Lou (the one with her mouth open) is hilarious 🙂

  14. teehee says:

Just another way she is being irresponsible.

  15. Persistent Cat says:

I was thinking the same thing, a visitor at 1am? Do they check the visitors? Make sure they aren’t bringing in drugs or alcohol? I doubt it.

  16. meme says:

told ya. brat ain’t going to jail

  17. Jessa says:

I think this little move is only going to piss Judge Revel off, big time, and when Lindsay doesn’t surrender herself tuesday morning at 8 am, they will go pick her up. Paris Hilton did the same thing remember? They went and picked her up, remember Paris having a meltdown in the back of her squad car? If I were the judge I would double her time for this little stunt.

  18. Cinderella says:

If she receives a Get Out of Jail Free card, our legal system really sucks ass.

  19. original kate says:

this is what happens when parents try to be “best friends” with their teenagers.

  20. Sigh. says:

    And the bullshit rolls on…

If this judge is worth ANYTHING, she’ll make her report to jail (we all know she won’t be in there long anyway) by choice or by force…and THE JUDGE will pick the rehab facility she is to attend.

EDIT: And make Dina and Michael stay away until THEY attend some programs of their own.

  21. YT says:

What a BS move, but there are probably a few people who are impressed.
    1. Lindsay
    2. Dina
    3. Michael
    4. er … uh … maybe … nah …

  22. Henriette says:

If she doesn’t go to jail, I’m going to be sorely annoyed.

  23. Eileen Yover says:

This guy thinks he’s helping her, but he has no idea what he is in for! A spoiled entitled brat who won’t accept responsibility for anything. And will ride his gravy train all while not doing anything to help herself. At least until he figures it out-and drops her like every other halfway intelligent person has.

  24. lucy2 says:

I think you’re right Jessa. I hope the judge says “that’s nice…after you complete your jail sentence.”

And though it may make me a horrible person, that photo of Paris crying in the back of a cop car still gives me a bit of glee. I have no sympathy for these party idiots who think the rules don’t apply to them.

Anti-icon, I agree it’s a serious conflict since her attorney founded the place. I’m hoping the judge agrees too and maintains her original sentence. Lohan does need hard rehab.

  25. ,,,, says:

@ Jessa – Paris actually turned herself in two days before she was required to do so. She turned herself in on the 3rd of June (right after the MTV Movie Awards) and she was supposed to do it by the 5th. The picture of her in the back of the cop car having a meltdown was due to them forcing her to go back to jail after releasing her (and putting her on house arrest) due to an unspecified medical condition. I don’t like Paris Hilton by any means but she did at least turn herself in without too much drama.

However with that said, I still hope they go and pick Lindsay up when she doesn’t report to jail, which you know she won’t.

  26. Rita says:

Loved your write-up Kaiser. You hit hit this one a mile. Perfect. She needs to do the full time and not because I expect it to do any good for her. I want her to do the full 90 days so us average people know the justice system works. Justice for all, not excuses for the priveldged!!!!

  27. Someone explain to me WHY she’s too good to go to jail like she’s supposed to..

I’m sorry, I don’t pity her anymore. I did at first, but now she knows that if she pulls that card, she’ll get to be free! She hasn’t learned her lesson and never will as long as someone saves her!

When US PEOPLE of the non-celebrity kind get into repeated trouble, we get penalties. When US PEOPLE fail to be responsible, we get punished.

But those of the Ho-Han Variety get to be pitiful for the cameras.

  28. Jackson says:

    Bitch, puhleeeez!!!!

If this little trick works anyone who lets it happen should be fired. Immediately. Who is this chick to decide what and where her punishment for a crime should be served out??

    Unbelievable.

Edit: A note to Celebitchy – please, please, never lose the above-posted photos. They are simply priceless. A picture is worth a thousand words….in this case, it’s worth volumes.

  29. Mrs Odie 2 says:

She is a threat to the sobriety of all the other addicts in that sober living house. So unfair to them.

  30. TaylorB says:

What a novel idea, criminals deciding their own punishments. I am personally shocked she didn’t go with the ‘lock me in a closet with a buttload of booze, drugs, smokes and don’t let me out until I have finished it all, that will teach me’.

  31. DinaBlabber says:

I wonder how Dina is going to explain this away since she says that her “child” is clean and sober????

  32. Dr. Remulak says:

She wasn’t sentenced to check into a rehab facility of her own choosing, Lindsay & Dina do not get to set the rules and parameters of the sentence. It’s a desperation move by a desperate loser. And now she can kiss all that money for the rights to her “story” goodbye too, Shapiro will end up with every dime.

  33. Riley says:

*eyeroll* at the “sober living house” that allows for 1 am booty calls…

  34. bellaluna says:

My sister hasn’t been allowed any contact with anyone – us included – until after she reaches 90 days sobriety. Letters only; no calls, no visits. Of course, we don’t live in BH, and my parents are actually paying for her rehab.

This smacks of another stunt – she’s just trying to stay out of jail. And if Shapiro truly cares (because his son died due to drugs) he’ll cut her off & drive her to jail himself. Or at least confer with Judge Revel to find a suitable “true” rehab facility for her.

  35. Roma says:

@Mrs Odie 2: That was my thought exactly. Not only will it mess with their sobriety emotionally, but how much do you want to bet she brought her prescription pills with her?

  36. GatsbyGal says:

I hope the judge is still like “Yeah whatever, bitch, you’re still going to jail.”

  37. Jessa says:

I’m sure she has a smug little smile on her face right now thinking she has outwitted everyone, and you are right #25, about Paris, still she did not want to go to jail. There are way worse things than jail especially if you are kept away from general pop. What Lindsay is probably terrified of is being locked up with herself. Anyway, I’m 99% sure they will have to go pick her up because I don’t think she’s going voluntarily.

  38. logan says:

“Sober living”, just peed myself a little. Well well Mr. Shaprio well played. Take the saddest case in the media and get yourself back in the news. Mr.Gibson will probably need your services soon. Sober Living my A**.

  39. Pixie says:

That nasty little crackhead is pathetic! God, how can someone be SO stupid and think people are going to believe she’s finally getting help?! She can’t even admit she has a problem! If there is any ounce of justice in this world, that entitled, snotty, little b*tch will go to jail and hard core rehab!

  40. Jessa says:

Just had it on court TV a second ago that Shipiro is not her lawyer as of yet. Judge Revel will not release Holly, so she is still the lawyer on record.

  41. Madisyn says:

SOBER LIVING is NOT REHAB. Sober Living is where you go AFTER rehab! That means all the “prescription” drugs she’s on, she STILL continues to take. I f ucking knew she’d get out of jail. I hope to God she appears on the 20th!

  42. lucy2 says:

    From Dlisted:
“Hopefully, Judge Marsha is at the nail salon right now getting a “NICE TRY” decal on her middle finger.”
    Love it.

I didn’t even think about the other people at the sober house. Not only is she probably stumbling in there with her “prescriptions” but she’s also a walking circus, and those people need stability and focus to work on their own recovery. Paparazzi camped out front and the Lohans crawling around at all hours won’t help that.

If she’s already “sober” AND has on a monitoring anklet…why does she need to be there?

  43. Ursaline says:

Lindsay looks like she’s faking it. And the attorney has the same expression that I get after I’m so exasperated at my kids that I’m not listening anymore and just disengage. Of course she bailed as soon as she could last week.

I like Robert Shapiro, but it does scream PR stunt and sounds like LL heard him talk about his son and decided to go to his facility where she thought she could get off easily rather than attend a real in-patient program that she needs.

  44. Jessa says:

Pickford Lofts where Lindsay is now, it sure is a far cry from a jail cell. But I’m sure its roughing it for Lindsay.
    http://www.pickfordlofts.net/

  45. Ursaline says:

,,,,: and Jessica: I read that Paris Hilton’s “unspecified condition” was claustrophobia. She couldn’t sleep or eat and they tried to let her do a house arrest, and then the public uproar got her sent back to jail for the other six days or whathaveyou.

  46. Wendy says:

She still has to show up in court on Tues and her a** will be thrown in jail!

  47. bellaluna says:

    On to the important stuff:

Is Pickford Lofts in the old Mary Pickford house? Or on the grounds of that property? I’d really like to know, but I refuse to go to the site – I don’t like furthering this Blohan Madness.

@ Jessa – Really? Oh, poor Holly! I’m sure she is SO over this sh!t by now.

  48. Kate says:

I was assulted in NY State and the SCUMBAG tried this very act and they went and got the CRIMINAL. He is serving 3 1/2 years! IT WILL NOT WORK SHITHEAD…WHAT A FUCKING MANIPULATOR. The whole idea that they have is that they are SMARTER THAN LAW OFFICERS AND THEY WILL NEVER BE SMARTER THAN ANYBODY PERIOD! I hope she OD”S before next week!

  49. bellaluna says:

Wow, Kate, are you alright? (I mean from the assault.) How awful for you. You still sound really upset – I hope you’re going to be okay. I also hope the scumbag that attacked you will actually serve all of his sentence in jail.

  50. Jackson says:

That website is awfully vague. It sounds to me that it is more of a halfway-house type deal, maybe a place you go to *after* in-patient rehab? IDK. But, you will all be relieved to know that Lindsay has a beautiful Corian kitchen and hardwood floors on which to recover.

  51. bellaluna says:

    @ Jackson –

Too funny! LL will probably be spending more time on those hardwood floors than in that Corian kitchen!

From what some others have mentioned, I think it is a “half-way house” for those who have COMPLETED their stay in rehab. Does that mean it’s another one of LL’s half-assed attempts at recovery?

  52. Bodhi says:

I think its a half-assed attempt to fool people into thinking that she is clean & sober. Remember that stupid photoshoot she did at the rehab place in, um, Utah (?) There was one where she was sitting in the grass with the Bible (or something) in her lap & her expression was all “Oh! You’ve stumbled upon me during my reflection time.” It was LAME-O

  53. Jackson says:

You know, we may all just be misjudging this poor child. Perhaps she is there to get pointers for when she opens her own rehab facility? Those poor Lohans are always being judged unfairly. I’m so ashamed of myself….

@bellaluna – you know she’s gonna be intimately acquainted with the hardwood – or maybe that’s only when she’s drinking and not just taking her ‘legal prescription drugs?’ Either way I’m happy to know that she’ll have real hardwood underfoot. None of that cheap man-made stuff for Lilo!

  54. YT says:

I predicted there would be two weeks of drama before jail time, but I could not predict what Lindsay and family would pull. What? Everyone else expected two weeks of crazy drama too? I’m not the only one? Oh, well.

Even though she is in a “safe house”, I expect more antics. Her list and number of visitors are clues. Tuesday cannot come soon enough. Can the judge throw her in the pokey without laughing?

  55. Strawberry says:

Denial ain’t just a river in Egypt… why is anyone still giving her chances to improve her behaviour?

  56. Jeri says:

Kaiser: So agree with you. You can’t change your sentence cuz you don’t want to do the time, if so no-one would go to jail. Grow up Lohans!

  57. juiceinla says:

@jackson-That is spot on! Pointers for her own rehab, is exactly whats going down.

I have a feeling Our fair Judge and my dream fairy godmother, Judge Marcia Revel, isn’t going to give Twoturds about this, except to the extent Orangina starts to get some help for her addictions. I feel so confident hat it wont change the legal proceedings, given Judge Revel’s record so far.

  58. Jeri says:

Had a thought, maybe Shapiro knows she’ll still have to do the time & this is just to quiet the Lohans hysteria until the 20th. That’d be cool.

  59. Sassy says:

How rich, she’s now in a “sober living” facility, which, maybe I’m wrong, is a place that someone would go AFTER rehab?

And… isn’t Lindsey “clean and sober” anyway, according to her mother, so why are they trying to pass this off as rehab? Oh right, so crackie mccracken doesn’t have to do her jail time.

It’s total awesomesauce that Lindsay the non-law abiding celeb can decide how and when she can do her “punishment.” Throw that entitled little a–hole in jail, make her do the full 90 days and then the full 90 days of rehab. Not that I believe for one second any of it will actually help her – she’s convinced she’s above all of this – but at least us regular folk will have some sense of the justice system actually working. Gah.

  60. Anti-icon says:

#58 Jeri: That would be the sign of a good attorney…and he would have advised her that was what was going down. If she gets out of the sentence, then Shapiro has A LOT of LEGAL CLOUT in LA. I hope we see on Tuesday what we all here know would be our own fate in court.

Court-ordered treatment doesn’t look like the Pickford Lofts. Wonder what that costs? I’m guessing $50,000 or more for 28 days. No one in the real world can afford Pickford Lofts.

  61. Chris says:

“That poor girl was not raised right, and this is the price. That whole original family of hers ought to get locked down into family therapy and exorcise a few emotional demons.”

I’m sure her people are alrerady looking into that as the basis for a reality TV show.

  62. CB Rawks says:

I hope the cops come and drag her out of there by her hair and throw her straight in the pokey.

  63. Lindsay says:

First, don’t ruin my mom’s nickname Lindsay Lou call her La Lohan if you must! I wish she was a LindsEy although people misspell my name less often.

Looking at the site (which is probably why Shapiro considered her in the first place; to promote this) IF she completes what the court says I think this would be a good place for her if she had to live by the rules and didn’t disrupt the others truly seeking help. If she was to comply with the zero tolerance policy, focus on long term sobriety, get her life back on track, have three roommates and all the other conditions of people there then it really may have a chance at helping her. I don’t think this is a profit thing for him though if the legal system refers people there and by the look of it I think it is relatively affordable and more to help then profit from. This is all paid for by a charity foundation set up for one of the most tragic events people could face, having to bury their own child. Maybe I am naive but I think he wants to help rather than profit.

  64. Madisyn says:

PEOPLE, PEOPLE, for all those saying “good job” and the like, this is NOT REHAB. It is a sober living house, which means she comes and goes, as she spent the night last night, but already left this morning. She’s still on ALL her “prescription” meds and this is a last ditch effort to show the judge “she’s taking responsibility”. Shes NOT taking responsibility, this is Shapiro saying “do this if you want me to take the case, listen to me, do as I say, not what you want to do”. She HAS NOT and WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY until ALL the enablers, including Dina are out of her life!

  65. Anti-icon says:

Not only is NOT rehab, it is a PRIVILEDGE to have this kind of freedom and support. I suspect how it is funded is that only a FEW indigent people from the courts get to go there; the ones who really show great hope and promise of recovery to a successful life. I.E. the ones who deserve it. All people who are not indigent (without ANY income or health care insurance) would pay THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS to go to a place like this; because it is far better than what the court system dishes up to regular offenders.

  66. mai tai says:

She will have to do what the judge ordered. Lindsay doesnt have any pull re the sentence.

Cheap tricks like her insincere, utterly fake ‘sober house’ stunt wont change the courts mind. She has proven too many times that she plays games and does not respect the law.

She also thumbs her nose at all the ‘commoners’ who have to actually do thier time for a crime.

Lindsay thinks she’s better than everyone else, including whatever dangling shred is left of her ‘fan base'(?)which is probably pretty much imaginary at this point.

She thinks everyone else should just ‘eat cake’ while she avoids jail for the same crimes which everyone else would have to go to jail for. Her arrogance and delusion are out of control!

Hey Lindsay, ‘wishin aint gettin’! LOL

  67. MissyA says:

Jeri – I like where your head’s at. That would have been my first move had I decided to burn these past few years in law school (as opposed to my couch ;).

But I think you’re underestimating Shapiro’s predatory intuition.

At best, Lindsay is free to continue shitting her life away and recklessly endangering the general population, and Shaprio becomes UNTOUCHABLE. We’re talking Scrooge McDuck displays of grandiosity – just diving into piles of cash.

At worst, he’s gaining fame and notoriety for both himself and his half-way house. I took a peek on the site – I’m sure half a million other people did. (Don’t tell me Shaprio doesn’t sit on the board of directors at his own exclusive rehab facility. How else will he honor his son’s memory?)

And Shaprio’s services don’t come cheap. One way or another, he’s going to get paid.

It’s a win-win situation for Shaprio. Can’t say the same for Lindsay. Guess she’s finally met her bloodsucking match.

Karma’s got it bad for Lindsay.

  68. brittjoi says:

I am actually at the hospital tonight because my dad had triple bypass surgery this morning. After being awake for awhile he was in a lot of pain (you know with his chest being cut open and veins removed from his leg and replacing the ones in his heart and all) so the doctor gave him morphine. When the morphine did not kill the pain they gave him… Dilaudid! The same thing Lindsay’s “dentist” gave her when she had her wisdom teeth out. I can’t believe they would give this to someone with a known drug problem without any sort of supervision. I have had my wisdom teeth removed and it hurt. A lot. But I am sure it was nothing like a triple bypass. Duh. Every “doctor” in L.A. should lose their licenses’

  69. barinthesky says:

She needs a drink more than ever. Well, a full bottle of Vodka actually. Hang in there L

  70. Chris says:

Going into rehab is fairlry standard procedure for people who want to appear to be doing the right thing in front of a judge. The sad thing for Lohan is that she seems to think her biggest problem is going to jail not the behaviour that got her sent there.

  71. jason says:

Super job on the write-up. Countless thanks for sharing it with us, you must have gone by way of loads of work to complete it so well.
