Renee Zellweger says she’ll deny dating Clooney until the day she dies

Renee Zellweger has a new interview in this week’s issue of In Touch, and she covers a lot of the same ground as in other recent interviews, in which she talks about giving up her home because she was never there. She also said she’s not ready to become a mom and that it wouldn’t be something she would be comfortable with now given her nomadic life. As for her co-star in her current movie Leatherheads, George Clooney, she says that not only has she never dated him but that she will deny dating him until the day she dies.

Did your on-screen chemistry with George Clooney, who directed you in Leatherheads, surprise you?
Completely, because I can’t bear him in real life. It was torture working with him.

Didn’t you used to date George?

I will deny that to the day I die. Don’t try to connect me with that hack! But seriously, I think George was asked if he liked me and he said “A little bit.” We’re actually old friends.

Renee says that as for working with George, “I didn’t want to disappoint him. His opinion really matters to me.”

Renee loves it when people are mean to her

And she still has a tough time dealing with fame. The interviewer asked Renee what the worst thing about being famous was, and she said that people aren’t real with her and she loves it when service people are rude to her when they don’t know who she it.

It’s hard to have real conversations. I love it when the stewardess is just nasty and I shrink when she comes back to apologize because she didn’t realize who I am. I know it sounds crazy, but I cherish it when somebody’s mean!

As far as Clooney saying “a little bit,” he was questioned about a list of actresses he supposedly dated, and he rattled off answers to each one, answering “a little bit” when Renee’s name came up. He has also denied dating her since he gave that answer, and said that he was just joking and that his answer got him in trouble with Renee.

Renee Zellweger and George Clooney are shown at the French premiere of Leatherheads on 4/11/08, thanks to Splash News.

  1. Renee, there are worse things you could be accused of than dating George Clooney. Also, I know the interviewer brought it up, but she needs to move on! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard this stupid story about them not dating.

  4. um.. they asked her. she answered, with the same answer she always gives.. and yet you think SHE needs to move on and she MUST have a crush on clooney. you need to get over it..jealous much? sure she isn’t the most beautiful, but she must be prettier than you if you’re so freakin jealous of everything she does.

  6. Cio-if you would read my comment you will see that I specifically stated that I knew that the interviewer brought it up. I still think that Renee needs to get over it-what is wrong with saying “no, we never dated and that’s that”?

  8. Renne is ugly, George Clooney is not. She should be flattered by the rumour. She married Kenny Chesney so iguess she knows her class.
