Levi Johnston and Bristol Palin shopping a reality show (update: denied)

On Friday we covered the Levi Johnston and Bristol engagement announcement in US Magazine, for which they received an undisclosed but no doubt hefty payment rumored to be in the six figure range. Levi revealed in the interview that he first got back together with Bristol right after she was set up in her new condo in Anchorage three months ago. He explained that they went for a walk with their son Tripp, 18 months, he sent her a text message afterwards saying that he still loved her, and that they’ve spent every day together since. They’re engaged but deny that Bristol is pregnant again and swear they’re waiting until marriage to have sex – again. On one hand it makes sense that they reunited after one of them moved out on their. They were high school sweethearts torn apart by the stress of a new baby, massive immaturity, and parental disapproval. On the other hand it sounds awfully convenient for Levi to hook up with Bristol again when he’s faced with $1,700 a month child support payments and no way to pay.

Bristol and Levi may even more incentive for falling in love all over again. Reports have them shopping a reality show on their “upcoming wedding and life as newlyweds.” Mom Sarah has got to be thrilled about that!

Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston are hoping to launch a reality show about their upcoming wedding and life as newlyweds with son, Tripp, 2. But network honchos aren’t enthusiastic. “Don’t think we should do it. Neither of them have personalities,” said one cable honcho. But Levi will bring in his sister and other relatives to make it work. One online commenter said of their reunion, “When you have no way to come up with $1,700 a month in child support . . . and there aren’t any other jobs out there . . . options are limited.”

[From NY Post]

Options are limited for a guy without a high school diploma or any discernible skills. And the report is right that these two don’t have personalities suited for media. Bristol tried to make a guest appearance on Secret Life of the American Teenager and couldn’t even deliver her lines. Levi proved that he’s incapable of being an interesting guest on a talk show unless he was gossiping about his girlfriends’ family.

Now these two want a reality show supposedly. The clock is ticking on their fame and relationship – they may as well make hay while the sun shines.

Update: This story has been denied by Bristol’s rep, but it sounds like something was in the works and that it may have been shot down by Bristol’s family. An attorney for the Palins told Radar Online “While several networks have pitched different concepts, Bristol and Levi have not signed any deal for a reality show about their relationship. Bristol has not agreed to participate in any show. Her focus remains on doing what is best for Tripp and her family.”

I admit it — I’d like to see them doing a reality show just to embarrass Sarah Palin. I know it is spiteful but it is the plain truth! I love seeing anyone who uses the media so much to their advantage squirming in discomfort, and a Bristol/Levi reality show will be the squirmiest ever (except for maybe Brit-Brit’s — think they’ll show deep kissing with gum in their mouths?).

  2. Dorothy says:

I love that creepy picture of John McCain “hugging” Levi!

  3. LOVE ANGELINA says:

Levi does seem to have very little personality. Kathy Griffin was trying loosen him up on her show but he was stiff. Bristol can’t act but I assume she is more interesting in real life. I will say I couldn’t watch them on TV but I do hope they make it together and can raise their child.

  4. YT says:

These two don’t have much going for them with education, talent, personality, or the ability to make a decent living with a “normal job”, and they were thrust into the media spotlight by chance, not choice. If they can make some money now to bank for their futures, more power to them.

  5. texasmom says:

YT — I agree with your take on the economics of the situation. In their position, making money off of all this cultural perversity is rational, even if undignified! And at their ages, personal dignity isn’t at the top of the list.

  6. judyjudy says:

I am so over reality shows about young couples. Do people REALLY find them that interesting? Ugh.

  7. Persistent Cat says:

Why is their engagement even news? I can’t figure that out. Who cares? I ask that emphasizing the “who.” I can’t figure out who would actually care. Yet it’s on the cover of a (crappy) magazine. Why? I was watching Canada AM the other morning and they were talking about it. Why the F would Canadian media be discussing this. Ugh. This nonsense has to stop.

  8. Hepzibah says:

How in heck did a kid who just dropped out of high school and with no job get ordered to pay $1700 per month in child support for ONE child???

I know grown ups with full time jobs (albeit minimum wage or close to) that only pay maybe $100 a week, sometimes for 2 or 3 kids!

Was Sarah or Bristol blowing the judge?

Levi needs to go back to Court and get support re-evaluated. Oh that’s right. They’re gettin’ married; support won’t be an issue….

  9. Zombie Nurse says:

In that header pic, Bristol looks like Snooki.

  10. Sumodo1 says:

Let them do it all, and let Sarah Palin crash and burn over it. So sick of this whole thing, and sick that Sarah might run for President. This is perfect: reality show and Sarah going off the deep end.

    Love it!

    PS–Bristol is looking middle-aged! YIKES!

  11. Iggles says:

I think that child support payment is ridiculous. Isn’t it supposed to be based on income? He’s an unemployed high school drop out. He has very little income. Something smells very fishy in Alaska..

  12. meme says:

who the hell wants to watch them? oh yeah, same people who watch the kardassians et al.

  13. Tia C says:

    @ texasmom – I don’t think you’re spiteful, cuz I’m right there with you!

Bless Bristol Palin’s little white trash heart. The more tacky and classless she acts (i.e. reality show with uber-trash Levi), the more nails go in the coffin of her mother’s 2012 presidential campaign. Keep it up, kiddo!

  14. e.non says:

the wasilla grifters — 2nd generation.

now, that’s a reality show i’d like to see.

  15. Jeri says:

Because Reality Shows always make a relationship last.

Sarah is making as much money as possible out of her exposure, I’m sure that influenced Bristol. Hit while the iron is hot!

  16. lucy2 says:

“they have no personality” LOL. And true.
I wonder if the thought of him looking for a nice place to live and not having to pay child support has crossed her mind. I doubt it.

  17. long_locks says:

I sometimes wonder is this isn’t a little scheme worked up by Bristol (poor Levi is still looking up scheme in the dictionary) to get a payoff from mom to NOT do a reality show. Cash in on the millions she made but doesn’t seem to really be sharing with her daughter who has probably fallen out of favor with that pesky teenage pregnancy. Now she is busting ass to support herself and child and I guess to moms horror she has learned by example to exploit the opportunity. So if you want to run for president and you don’t want me to “embarrass” you or ruin you chances you can actually stand behind me and support me instead of just saying that you do. (By the way I think he is an ass and that both of these young people should have to lay in the beds they made, however, I also believe that Palin made a bed here too and some of her money off of having to cope with a pregnant teenage daughter.)

Why, why, WHY does all it take nowadays is 5 minutes of media appearance for any douche to plague us with their presence for the next two years?

There can’t be THAT much demand for this stuff can there?
