Jessica Biel’s puffy one-armed dress: tragic or cute?

a_team_madrid_photocall_19_wenn2939283

Here are Jessica Biel and Bradley Cooper promoting The A-Team in Madrid on Sunday. Biel really can’t dress for sh-t, can she? I don’t even see how this dress would have been cute on the rack. It’s just hideous from every angle. Why would you want a puffy, one-armed bridesmaid looking cocktail dress… in this neutral beige color? It does absolutely nothing for Biel and her extreme beauty. Speaking of how beautiful Jessica is (rolling eyes), she’s once again making her looks a talking point. Previously, Jessica has pontificated on how her overwhelming gorgeousness has been a deterrent in her career. In this interview, however, Jessica tries to play the “People shouldn’t talk about how gorgeous I am even though I just brought it up” game:

Jessica Biel feels uncomfortable when people praise her looks. The model-turned-actress is one of Hollywood’s top pin-ups, and regularly features on lists of the world’s most beautiful women. Modest Jessica says she does find compliments flattering, but the movie star insists there are many women out of the public eye who are more attractive than her.

“I think you just kind of go with it more than anything else, because it’s incredibly flattering to have that said about you. But come on, let’s get serious, there are a lot of people around the world that we don’t know about who are probably incredibly beautiful, so it just feels like: ‘Okay, cool. Thanks, I appreciate it,” she told the British edition of OK! magazine.

Jessica went on to insist her beauty comes at a price, as she admitted to following a dull diet in order to maintain her slim figure. Despite being a fan of delicious food, the actress moaned that she needs to be strict on herself to look good.

“I love food, love it. But I’m really disciplined and boring most of the time. It’s so true!” she lamented.

Jessica Biel also says criticism can be ‘toxic’ and she tries to stay away from negativity.

‘If you let in, what people say about you and how people think about you, it’s just toxic. It’s just horrible to try to please a bunch of people that you’ve never met before, who want to just make assumptions about your life and your career.”

Well, at least she’s trying to show a bit more grace? I guess. Someone must have told her, “Stop talking about how gorgeous you are, for f-ck’s sake.” It’s especially strange because she has such sketchy style, you know? Not that how she dresses really has anything to do with her beauty, but she dresses like she thinks she can pull anything off, and she just can’t. Very few women can. It’s like… Nicole Kidman and Cate Blanchett, and nobody else.

By the way, did anyone see Jessica’s commercial for Revlon’s “Just Bitten” lipstick? It’s 90 seconds and directed by Oscar-winner Kathryn Bigelow, and it’s hilarious. Yes, Jessica looks pretty, but if she can’t even act her way through a 90-second commercial, she’s got bigger problems than her extreme beauty.

  1. LOVE ANGELINA says:

This woman can not dress. This looks like a rolled up sheet from a bed she just threw on. I swear she dresses like an idiot on purpose.

  2. pookie says:

Like a toga party getup gone wrong…

  3. malachais says:

tragic – this woman has the type of body that can look good in anything yet she manages to pick the funkiest crap time and time again!

  4. jul says:

I think if the hemline was a little higher and the dress was tighter, it could’ve worked

  5. hapygoleslie says:

    tragic..like her career

  6. kaligula says:

i agree, love angelina… there is something suspect about how she looks so consistently awful. i personally think that being with JT is breaking her spirit and maybe she always hated herself a little bit. this dress is dumbfoundingly bad but at least her hair looks good.

  7. meme says:

Epic fail. Tragic. Coop is gay, yes?

  8. serena says:

    horrible.

  9. Lisa. S says:

Yikes… that dress is no good. But I really like the hair. “Stop talking about how gorgeous you are, for f-ck’s sake.” HAHA Love it..

  10. Jen says:

awful…although, if you chopped off the sleeve, it would be cute. Bland, but cute.

Tell me again why we are subjected to this woman?

  11. Donna Wingfield says:

Why does she think she’s pretty? Does she ever look in a mirror?

  12. Mary Okorn-Jimenez says:

Sooooo tragic – like her “modesty.”

Incredibly beautiful? Wouldn’t even look at her twice on the street, were it not for her dull diet-toned bod. But good on her for that, at least.

  13. a says:

    yikes! looks like laundry.

  14. marge says:

trying too hard to be fashion forward… and definitely NOT pulling it off

  15. denise says:

Tragic. She is such a pretty girl, who never gets it right with her fashion choices.

  16. jen says:

    Toga! Toga! Toga!

  17. RHONYC says:

is that one of katie’s holmes & lang ‘designs’? :-0

    *ralph*

  18. autotron says:

She has a really bad case of plastic surgery face. You can’t actually see attractiveness, because all you see are plastic parts.

  19. danielle says:

    Tragic!

  20. Oi says:

Geez woman. And that commercial just sucks. Her acting aside, the production, concept and scenery all just plain suck. An Oscar winner did that? Any college film student could have done that with any coed. Less Jessica more model dude.

  21. NayNay says:

Tragic. I’m guessing that she does not own a mirror. Perhaps her and Jessica Simpson can get together and give eachother lessons.

  22. CB Rawks says:

She likes shapeless beige dresses. Seems to be her go-to statement.
Which is how I think of her career, also.

  23. Solveig says:

I quite like the dress and that eighties style, moreover her face looks good and fresh and I’m very far from being a fan of hers, or better still I usually dislike her features.

  24. guesty says:

love love her hair. the dress…not so much.

  25. GatsbyGal says:

It would’ve been a cute dress without that stupid sleeve.

  26. autotron says:

Methinks it is somewhat uncouth/creepy to use an obvious collagen-abuser in a lipstick ad.

  27. Tia C says:

It’s definitely not cute. I wouldn’t call it completely tragic either, only because Jessica could wear a potato sack and still be beautiful. But she sure could use a stylist!!

  28. eden says:

    @Jul
I agree with you, if the hemline was higher it might look less frumpy.
    Operative word “might”.
I do think she is gorgeous though…
She has a very fresh and healthy look to her face and body but I generally can’t stand how she dresses because it’s so lacking in any softness or an awareness of her femininity…even the skin tight booty hugging dresses look very hard… like an aggressive, in your face, sexuality…she either goes with no feminine subtlety at all or the bland and overblown bag she’s wearing in the picture.

  29. xxodettexx says:

i vote tragic… it just doesnt seem put together that well???

  30. bellaluna says:

I think it’s funky and suits her *ducks from objects being thrown my way* While I wouldn’t have chosen to wear it, she pulls it off. I do agree about the sleeve, however.

I don’t get all the Biel hate. I absolutely loved her in that movie with Ed Norton, what was it called? The Illusionist? Of course, I love him too.

  31. Angelina says:

Her nose is starting to look like Michael Jackson’s. Looks like someone pinched the end with a clothes pin. Her upper body is quite manly. But she’s right – there are plenty of prettier girls out there.

  32. oh hey says:

From the neck up she’s looked the prettiest I’ve seen in a while. That dress does look bad though, which is unfortunate because the only reason she’s famous is because of her nice body.

  33. Mairead says:

I generally like her look here, her hair and makeup look pretty (for a change) and I quite like the dress and especially its length. I’m undecided about the sleeve though.

Oh and Bradley Cooper = Bet-down Dan Futterman (bet-down is a Dublin expression meaning looking rough or dodgy)

I’ve seen the film – and as many of us said when we heard the casting, “BCoop is no Dirk Benedict”. Liam Neeson is a great actor though- he just became Hannibal.

  34. Nuharoo says:

I actually like it. Just because she isn’t dressing like a strung out hooker or wannabe teenybopper, doesn’t mean she looks bad. It’s actually quite classic. All she needs is to put her hair in a bun and she would look stunning and like a classic beauty.

  35. ligeia says:

wellp, that sure is a lovely curtain she n wearing…

  36. mollination says:

    I actually really…..like it.

  37. rheba says:

somebody send her to DRAG U so the queens can teach her to dress her body

  38. J says:

I think Jessica Biels is applying the same trick like Jennifer Aniston — covering her face with hair, focusing on showing out her body. It works.

  39. Pleister says:

I hate the dress, so I just look at Bradley Cooper, looking sexy with that beard.

  40. Kat says:

I don’t get the one arm longer than the other look for dresses. One of the Kardashians wore something similar recently and it would have looked much better if it had had short sleeves on either side. Same goes here for Jess’ dress.

  41. k says:

I like the hair and the dress, but not together. Hair should be up for this dress, I think.

Also, all of those hating on her features — I’m not sure she had work done. She’s part Native American, and I can clearly see those features in her, and they have been the same features since that TV show she was on.

  42. bnice says:

The dress is interesting, at least. I don’t think it’s terrible. Where do people dig up so much hate for someone who seems to be so bland?

  43. mmf says:

I’m pretty sure someone wore that dress in the original Star Wars.

  44. Sudini says:

Not crazy about the dress, but her hair and makeup are absolutely untouchable. She looks really amazing, in lieu of the dress.

  45. original kate says:

everything about this girl is tragic – including her acting ability. her body is amazing, though.

  46. Jeri says:

    Beauty fades, Brains flourish.

  47. super8 says:

    NO!

  48. Mistral says:

Love it. She actually looks really beautiful here! So fresh and natural (well, as natural as you can look with makeup on).

  49. Sally says:

Dress is kind of cute – would be better on someone else, perhaps? I’m ashamed to admit but I loved the A-team remake, even though Jess’ acting was horrendous in it.

  50. Liana says:

goodness… a toga made from a drop cloth.

  51. P.M. says:

Here’s my fix; lose the sleeve so it’s a one shoulder top, change belt to one that’s low slung & fitted on waist & hips, pull the toga/bib so it’s not bunched at the waist add a pair of kick ass sling backs instead of boring black pumps. Hair & make up good.

  52. Tiffany says:

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! You know you are in trouble when your acting is horrible in a SILENT commercial.

Was that Michael Pitt? If so, he is looking good. Not enough screen time.

  53. LolaBella says:

    TRAGIC!

The dress is poorly made, ill fitting and UGLY!

Who the hell is dressing this woman? If she has a stylist then it’s obvious that person hates her and her ‘burdensome beauty’.

On a positive note – I love her shoes and Bradley Cooper looks good in blue.

  54. sabine says:

People that say here that jessica Biel isn’t good looking – come on now! – yes, she is. And that’s not the question.
Is the dress bad? yes, it is. Not the worst i’ve ever seen but no reason to totally tear her down.

  55. Kelly says:

Whenever I look at her face, the word ‘hiatus’ comes into my head. It’s like she doesn’t even really *have* a face; everything is so low and bland and flavourless. So where this idea that’s she’s some amazing beauty comes from, I’m not sure; sounds like it came from her!

Imagine referring to your own beauty in an interview like it was some ethereal presence hovering over everyone. Bleeeuuughhh! And that dress looks like something a siamese cat coughed up.

  56. jules says:

    tragic is the perfect description

  57. Vicky Corday says:

Either fire the stylist, or hire one. All she’s got are her looks, she needs to make herself someone we want to see again, not someone we deride. She needs to work on the “wow” every time factor.

    Cooper looks high. Very high.

  58. autotron says:

You arent sure she’s has work done? Those stuffed cheeks, pinched nose, and inflated lips beg to differ, sir. I hate when people puff their cheeks up then shave their noses down – they look like simeans.

  59. Angelina says:

@Autotron – I totally agree with you. What the heck happened to her nose? Anything would have looked better before the nose job. Now it screams “yes, I had a bad nose job!”

  60. Sugar says:

I no like this person, but I do dig the dress. Sorry. Minority report apparently over here, as in..the minority, I’m in it.

  61. Lia says:

It looks like a gunney sack. Some “designer” was laughing all the way to the bank. Some of these silly celebrities would wear rhinestone-encrusted toilet seats on their heads if a “designer” told them to……
