  1. Hmmm… I just listened to about 45 seconds of this song and she kind of sounds manly. Why can’t people just stick to what they are good at? If they are an actor they want to be a singer and vice versa. Then they want to come out with a clothing line, perfume and do adds for Sprint, Dish Network and Pepsi…

  2. Wow, she is trying so hard to look deep and introspective in those photos - but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a deader pair of eyes on a human being.

Most actors that try to start a music career suck (yes, I mean you Russel Crow - if you care anything for the public at large, stop singing now). Most musicians that try to act suck too (Madonna much?)

Bruce Willis’ blues band is alright, but that’s about the only one I can think of.

  4. Its nice to hear bowie in the background. I don’t see the point of this song. Im sure she has a great voice … maybe this wasn’t the best song to debut. Cause she can’t really show off her voice …assuming she has one.

Yeah and for a really photogenic person… those are some boring pictures.

  6. Persistent Cat:

I have to disagree, singers are generally laughed at when they try acting. Think Mariah Carey, Britney, Madonna, Paul McCartney, Diddy (I assume he was laughed at and awful), a lot of rappers are usually mocked, Phil Collins. We’re already laughing at Avril Lavigne and I think she’s just threatening to act.

I guess singers are lucky because they can have small parts in movies, mainly comedies, and be acceptable. If an actor releases an album, it’s just them. Ignoring all the production help, it’s them you hear so they stand up to more criticism. But singers are still mocked and criticized when they suck.

  7. Ah come on guys I’ve hear way worse… But yeah, it’s not great. Oh and to the poster above: Avril Laving did act, she lent her voice to that animated movie, Over the Hedge.

  8. “We’re sorry, the clip you are trying to play is currently not available in your area.”

:?: Any other Europeans unable to listen to the song? :?:

The pictures are a good try. But yes, those are dead eyes.
She would even be voted off America’s Next Top Model for those!

  9. No. Boo :x

Time was that an actor had to be an all-rounder to ensure work (Frank Sinatra, Judy Garand, Fred Astaire, even Marlon effin’ Brando much?) so I don’t really believe all this “thou must stick to the pigeon-hole of thine choice” bollocks that’s around nowadays.

Chances are if you’re talented at one thing, you’re probably proficient at something related.

  10. I was thinking the pics were ok after seeing a whole bunch of fucking airbrushed, cosmetically enhanced, buffed to perfection Liz Hurleys and Nicole Kidmans lately, its nice to see some fairly natural candids. She’s not trying to look like a glamour puss and I give her points for that.

  14. I can’t stand her. She’s not that hot anyway. She’s overrated as hell and only famous because she has big cans. Wow. What talent.

  15. didn’t like it. i know she said she wanted it to sound dreamlike and ambient and stuff but that was just boring. Her voice sounds as dead as her eyes look in the photos. someone should tell scarjo that it is possible to sing these types of songs with some feeling or emotion.

  16. Actually, I think it’s pretty good. You have to be into this type of music, though, I think. It reminded me of Cocteau Twins (except with actual lyrics that make sense and are intelligible). I will reserve overall judgment, though, till I hear the whole thing. But…so far, so good.

  17. scarlett needs to get a grip on her life. she can sometimes act well, but obviously she can’t sing well. her monotone voice really shines through in this horror of a song. im pretty sure she is a sociopath, at least thats what her dry dull boring voice leads me to believe

  19. I wanted to hate it. I really did. I was all set to be super mean because I LOATHE her.

I liked it. A lot. I can’t believe I’m writing this. Granted, it doesn’t sound like her - the reference to it being run through the computer a couple times is evident. But it’s damn good. I’m intrigued (she writes, hanging her head in shame).

  20. This is a good start - they slightly re-arranged/, a fantastic Waits song - not a hit or Springsteen type song/but a hidden studio gem placed in a live album from the 80’s. There’s inventive instruments and vocal style without leaning on guitars or any efx schtick. Her voice is heard clearly, with real emotions - Currently Zooey Deschanel’s cd is getting high marks, but she sings pretty insipid covers we’ve all heard too many times - without much style - hiding behind an indie rock hero for street cred. Scarlett does the right thing, doesn’t try to write her own material - goes to a true genius source/uses her acting skills/i.e.voice to slightly re-arrange the feel with some success here - good start. Gutsy move - especially for a female vocalist.
