Damn, should we feel guilty for calling Fantasia Barrino out for homewrecking a marriage? I feel a little twinge at this, honestly. According to reports coming out of North Carolina (via TMZ), Fantasia overdosed last night and was treated at a NC hospital, where her condition has stabilized and non-life-threatening. It was just a few days ago that the wife of Fantasia’s (not-so-alleged) married lover Antwaun Cook filed for divorce, and Paula Cook named Fantasia as the other woman. Paula also claimed that Fantasia and Antwaun made multiple sex tapes, and that Fantasia had called Paula to tell her to stay away from her own husband! Then, yesterday, Fantasia’s lawyer and manager came out and claimed that Fantasia was “not responsible” for “the deterioration” in the Cooks’ marriage. Then it was a bunch of God talk. I guess the God talk didn’t help when Fantasia was downing a bottle of something…
Fantasia Barrino was rushed to a North Carolina hospital last night where she was treated for a “medication overdose,” this according to WCNC.com.
According to the report, Barrino was taken to Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville around 8:55 PM … the report says her condition was not life-threatening.
According to the report, it’s unclear whether the OD was intentional or accidental.
As we previously reported — Barrino was recently accused of making a sex tape with a married man and destroying his marriage.
Barrino has claimed she is “not responsible” for the deterioration of the marriage.

UPDATE: TMZ has a statement from Fantasia’s rep, and they have also confirmed that Fantasia’s overdose was a combination of aspirin and sleeping pills, and that Fantasia took the pills because she was “overwhelmed by the lawsuit and the media attention” that her homewrecking had caused. Did I say “homewrecking”? I mean “she’s a victim, praise Jesus!” Don’t believe me? Here’s the full statement from Fantasia’s rep:

Fantasia is heartbroken and is sorry for any pain she may have caused.
Yesterday, she was totally overwhelmed by the lawsuit and the media attention. Last night, Fantasia was hospitalized. She took an overdose of aspirin and a sleep aid.
Her injuries are not life threatening. She was dehydrated and exhausted at the time. Fantasia is stable now. She will be released from the hospital soon. Fantasia is a fighter and a survivor. This is not the hardest thing Fantasia has endured.
Fantasia will be stronger, smarter, and better for it. Her work has always inspired her and served as a source of strength. Her new album, “Back To Me,” will be released on August 24th.

Why is this all her fault? She is not the one that was married and he could have been leading her on saying he was separated etc. As far as we all know the first time that his wife was involved with this mess was this week.

This is the first time that I’ve ever posted on this site, but I felt the need to post this time because of some of the posts, specifically those from Shay and Green Ginger, and also 41 and 42 (who’s names I can’t read).
The comments regarding her looks are maybe a little harsh, but let’s face it, she chose to be in the media and as such, she is an open target to criticism. If she doesn’t like it, she can go back to doing whatever she did before Idol.
Secondly, no–she’s not 100% to blame for the affair since she wasn’t the married one. However, you date someone for 11 months and don’t know that he’s still married? Either that’s extreme naivete or she just didn’t want to admit the truth–that her prince was actually a frog.
As for her suicide attempt, if she had really wanted to commit suicide, she would have gotten a gun instead of popping a few asprin. I don’t feel any sympathy for her and do think that she was doing it all for attention.

I do agree with you about Alicia. Although, I think there are a few key differences in her case. First and foremost, we know a lot about her man and his skeezy situation. He is unquestionably further into the wrong than her. The four kids with the four baby mommas, and the tax issues… The man is deplorable. In fact, he is so grimey that it distracts slightly from Alicia’s wrong doing. Swiss Beats is like an epic train wreck of wrong, and so he usually gets the harsher words from posters. In Fantasia’s case we know nothing about the dude, except that he’s a cheater. People don’t care about him. They care about the person they see on tv. So, until he speaks publicly or someone reveals something truly sensational about him (like that he has fifty kids and a murder conviction), people will focus the full brunt of their outrage on Fantasia.
Also, I think you see less comments about Alicia’s appearance because it’s pretty hard to call Alicia ugly with a straight face. Sadly for Leann and Fantasia, they are not quite up to Alicia in the looks department.
I do find it really interesting who people will support on this site and who they will rip to shreds. For example, a lot of people love Angelina Jolie. But, isn’t she an obvious homewrecker?
